Nog nodded thoughtfully. “That seems logical.”
“So, I figure, since I’ve put all this effort into learning about the Crusades, I might as well make money from it.”
“How?” Despite his reservations, the chance of financial gain aroused Nog’s curiosity.
Jake steered him toward the nearest crossover bridge. “We can invent our own game and sell it to Quark! In the Crusades, kings and knights traveled to a distant, dangerous land on a quest. They rode horses and fought a war against fierce desert tribes with swords and shields. It’s perfect! For a game.”
Nodding, Nog chuckled with enthusiasm. “I’ll make a decent Ferengi out of you yet, hew-mon.” Then the questions started flying. “What’s a horse? Why were they fighting? Was there profit in the war? Who won?”
“That’s what we’re going to find out.” Jake grinned as he keyed for the turbolift. Knowledge was the real key to success. If Jake had to play by Ferengi rules to help Nog learn, then so be it. After all, Jake was human. He never gave up, and nothing was impossible—not even an educated Ferengi.

TODD CAMERON HAMILTON is a self-taught artist who has resided all his life in Chicago, Illinois. He has been a professional illustrator for the past ten years, specializing in fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Todd is the current president of the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists and Illustrators. His original works grace many private and corporate collections. He has co-authored two novels and several short stories. When he’s not drawing, painting, or writing, his interests include metalsmithing, puppetry, and teaching.
