Book One: Attacked by the Griefers
Hello again, guys! It’s Mike, the noob that foiled Herobrine’s plans. Well, I didn’t actually do it by myself. I had the help of my friends, Jerry and Micah. Oh, and I’m not that big of a noob anymore.
This story picks up right after those events.
In case you don’t remember, after I managed to defeat Herobrine and destroy his giant evil doomsday device, I respawned, built myself a new home, and mined and crafted in peace for a while.
But adventures always seem to knock on my door, so get ready for this one…
A new day dawned. The giant yellow block that was the sun shined way up in the light blue sky. The horses were neighing in their pen, the sheep were gnawing away at the grass in their enclosure, and the pigs were staring at each other with their blank stares.
A nice, quiet day in Minecraft!
I was on my way to finish the new chicken coop that I began building the night before. Nothing fancy, just some wooden planks and a cage made out of wooden fence pieces. Of course, I didn’t have any chickens yet. I didn’t quite manage to find any of them in the forests nearby, but I was pretty confident that I would find some on future expeditions.
As I was building my “chicken-less” chicken coop, I saw something in the distance. Two strange figures came out of the forest and kept running along the tree line.
My first guess was that they were creepers, because they were too fast to be zombies, really.
I kept my eye on them for a while and after a couple of minutes the two figures strayed away from the tree line and looked like they were heading towards my farm.
As the figures came closer and closer, I realized that they weren’t actually mobs – they were in fact players on horseback.
I figured that the best thing that I could do was to mount one of my horses and ride off to meet them before they could reach my farm. I mean, hey, if I learned anything from my first adventure is that although most players are fun and friendly, some players can be real jerks. And so I figured that I’d take a closer look at who I’m dealing with before I let them near my home. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like I’m protecting any treasures, but who would want their house to get destroyed by some trolling griefers.
And so I took out an iron sword that I had in one of my chests and mounted my trusty horse and rode out to see whom I was dealing with.
I was about halfway to reaching the two riders when I managed to recognize them. I couldn’t believe my eyes.
“Jerry? Micah”, I shouted.
“Yup. It took a while to find you, buddy”, said Jerry.
“You don’t know the half of it”, said Micah.
For a moment there I didn’t know what to say. Minecraft was really different without any other players around, let alone my friends. Sure, Minecraft is fun and all by yourself, but having other people around, especially friends is a whole different experience.
“Whoa! I can’t believe it! Come on, guys! Follow me! Can’t wait for you two to see my farm.”
“You’ve built yourself a farm, isn’t that awesome. Woo-hoo for you, Mike” said Micah in a very sarcastic tone.
“Lay off him, Micah. Lead the way, Mike” said Jerry.
I turned my horse around and led my two friends back to my place.
I opened my gates to my guests, like any good host would, and then I rode my horse to my freshly built stable. I got off my horse and used a lead to tie it to a wooden fence post.
“Here you go guys. You can leave your horses here”
I then realized that there was only one fence post, so I quickly ran to a chest, got a couple more fence posts and placed them in the stable.
“Sorry, I wasn’t expecting company”, I told them.
“No problem”, said Jerry.
I then gave them a quick tour of my “estate”. I showed them the animal enclosures, my wheat crops and the sugarcane that I managed to plant near the small pond that I dug.
“What’s with the chicken coop?” Micah asked.
“Well…it’s for when I…find some chicken”, I told him.
“Nice…” said Micah.
I was actually quite proud of my farm, despite Micah’s rather constant sarcastic remarks. I showed them around for a little bit more and then the three of us got indoors.
I offered my guests some cooked pork chops and some bread that I had made that morning.
Jerry had a full set of iron armor on, breastplate, boots, grieves, helmet – everything. Micah, on the other hand, had iron armor, iron grieves and golden boots with no helmet.
I managed to mine a good amount of iron, but not enough to craft myself that many iron items. I only had an iron breastplate; the rest of my armor was made out of leather. I was feeling a bit jealous of their stuff, to be honest.
“Do you have any idea how hard it was for us to find you?” Jerry asked.
“Oh yeah, Jerry wanted to find you. He couldn’t shut up about it.” Micah said.
“Well I’m glad that you found me. I was getting a bit bored all by myself. How did you guys find each other, huh?” I asked them.
“Micah actually found me. I respawned and I just wandered aimlessly, looking for you”, said Jerry.
“I saved his sorry behind from some griefers near…” Micah paused for a moment “…near the village.”
We all kept quiet for a couple of seconds, and then I tried to break the ice.
“Well, you found me. What now?”
Micah slowly walked away from us and looked out the window.
“How do you feel about going on an adventure with me and Jerry?” he asked.
“Whoa there, I didn’t actually say that I would join you, Micah,” said Jerry.
“Yes you did, Jerry.”
“No, Micah, I didn’t. I said that I would come only if we find Mike and only if he agrees to come along, too. That’s what I said.”
“Fine...killjoy. So Mike, what is it going to be, buddy? Adventure or farm life?” Micah asked.
I couldn’t believe it – a new adventure. After the stunts that Micah pulled during our confrontation with Herobrine, I knew that any adventure that involved him would be a thrill.
I didn’t want to give into it so easily, so I asked about details.
“Wait a second, Micah. What exactly are we talking about here?” I cautiously asked him.
“Well, some time ago, before you two knuckleheads stumbled into my camp, before our battle with Herobrine and all that, I kept hearing these rumors about a treasure that is hidden inside the biggest mountain you’ll ever see in Minecraft. These weirdos kept popping around our camp, talking about it and about a whole lot of crazy things, things like white zombies, white endermen, rooms filled with crates filled to the brim with diamonds and emeralds and a city built with nothing but gold and diamond bricks. For a while there those rumors got me thi
nking.” Micah said.
“So why didn’t you go for it? I mean, you already had a clan and stuff.” I told him.
“It wasn’t that easy. I brought it up to the guys but they didn’t really believe the thing was true. I didn’t want to push the matter further. I didn’t want them to believe that I was some loony, so I gave up on it. I was the clan leader and I couldn’t afford to lose my clan’s respect. I never forgot about these rumors, though. After I respawned, before I met up with Jerry, I wandered through the woods for a while. I stumbled across some players. They were new, had barely spawned in here. I heard them talking to each other. One of them was trying to convince the other that this mountain actually exists and that they should go for it. That’s when I knew that I had to see it with my own eyes. That and that I had to get my hands on all that loot.” said Micah.
“Wow.” I said.
“Great story, isn’t it? Wait until you hear the rest of it.” Jerry said.
“So where is this mountain?” I anxiously asked Micah.
“Well here’s the kicker. Those two players that I
