“So every time I go away, you are going to spend your time with a woman who is interested in you to take your mind off me?”
“No,” Jules answered firmly and rubbed her forehead wishing she could take her words back.
“Maybe if you rub a little harder you can turn back time.” They both got quiet for a moment before Paige began to laugh.
Jules looked at her lover as if she had lost her mind. “Paige, you have to know I’m not interested in anyone but you. No one.” She reached for Paige’s hand again and this time they held onto each other. “Please believe me.”
Paige got up and wrapped her arms around Jules. “I believe you and I’m sorry that I disappeared on you right after we got together.”
They began to kiss with such passion ignoring the lunch that sat unfinished. The floor became their playground as Jules stripped the clothes from Paige’s body. The whole time her lips traveled over her skin memorizing her taste again. Paige writhed under her forgetting about her titanium legs causing Jules to cry out in pain.
“Oh I’m so sorry, Jules,” she said caressing her face. “Maybe we should take this to the bedroom before I permanently hurt you,” she said with a slight grin.
“Good idea.” Jules got up and helped Paige off the floor. Once in the bedroom, Paige sat on the edge of bed while Jules took off her artificial legs. She tossed them on the floor and removed her own clothing anxious to continue what they had started in the kitchen. “Much better,” Jules said as she straddled Paige’s body.
They spent the next three days in bed together. If not for the barbecue they never would have ventured out of the house. Jules was pushing the cart through the grocery store picking up the food they were bringing over. As Jules pushed the cart up an aisle, someone called her name. She spun around recognizing the voice. A voice that would whisper in her ear and touch her soul as they made love. “Veronica,” she said staring at the blue eyes looking back at her.
A wide smile appeared on Veronica’s face. “It’s good to see you again, Jules. You look good.” Her eyes roamed over Jules’s body unashamed.
“When did you get back in town or is this just a visit?” Jules asked grabbing a can of baked beans off the shelf.
“It was time to come home,” she answered moving closer to Jules. “We should get together and catch up with each other.” The look Jules gave her caused Veronica to take a step away.
Now that the conversation had stopped, Paige moved forward. “Hi, I’m Paige,” she said holding out her hand to Veronica.
“Sorry, Paige. Veronica, this is Paige Carter. Paige, this is Veronica Stevens.”
“It’s nice to meet you, Veronica.”
“You too,” Veronica said eyeing her suspiciously, wondering if she and Jules were together.
“Honey, we should finish shopping so we can get to the barbecue.” Paige watched Veronica as she spoke with Jules. The woman understood Paige’s meaning and bid them goodbye.
Once they got to Eileen’s, they carried the groceries into the house. While Paige and Eileen unloaded the food, Jules went upstairs for more clothes. “Who is Veronica?” Paige asked Eileen.
Eileen turned and stared at Paige. “How did you hear that name?”
“We met her in the grocery store. I know she meant something to Jules at one time from the look on her face.”
“That bitch,” Eileen mumbled and went to the refrigerator. “Maybe you should ask Jules about her.”
“I don’t think she’ll tell me. Please tell me.” Paige took Eileen’s hand and led her to the table.
“Jules and Veronica lived together for ten years. They were even engaged to marry when Veronica met someone else.”
Paige listened without commenting. Ten years. Why didn’t Jules tell her about her? Did she still have feelings for her?
“She broke Jules’s heart. I never thought she would let anyone get close to her again.” Eileen smirked. “I’m sure she wanted to get together with Jules.”
Paige nodded. “She said they should get together and catch up.”
“I guess she isn’t with the woman anymore.” Eileen stood up and grabbed a bottle of water. “The nerve of her to think that Jules would want anything to do with her again.”
“Jules could barely look at her, but you don’t think she still has feelings for her?” Paige asked in a whisper. The pounding in her chest increased as she waited for Eileen to answer.
Eileen chuckled and touched Paige’s hand. “You don’t have to worry about that, sweetie.”
Jules came down the stairs and looked at Eileen and Paige. “I suppose you told her about Veronica?”
“I asked her to, honey,” Paige said putting her arm around Jules. “I’m sorry that she hurt you.”
“It was a long time ago, Paige.” She kissed her cheek. “I should have thanked her for leaving me, but she caught me off guard.”
“Why would you thank her?” Paige asked looking at her lover.
“Because if she hadn’t left me, I never would have met you,” she said with a grin.
Paige smiled. “I love you so much, Jules.”
“I love you too, honey.” Forgetting that they were standing there with Eileen, the women began to kiss. A throat clearing behind them broke them apart with a giggle. “Sorry, Eileen. I forgot you were there.”
“Yeah, I could tell.” She smiled happy that her sister was finally happy. Paige was good for her and she knew she would never do to Jules what Veronica had done.
“So how is it going with Carol?” Jules asked as they all took a seat at the kitchen table. Eileen didn’t say a word, but her face told the complete story. She was bright red. “Oh do tell, big sister,” Jules said rubbing her hands together.
“No,” Eileen answered from behind the hands that covered her face.
Paige seeing Eileen’s distress, touched Jules’s arm. “Leave her alone, honey.”
“Oh no. The first time I slept with a woman, she wanted all the details. Now I know why,” she said giggling.
“I didn’t mean for it to happen,” Eileen finally said, uncovering her face. “We just got carried away.” She looked at Paige. “You know how it is.”
“I do and your sister makes me get carried away with just a few kisses.” Paige answered giggling with Eileen.
“So?” The two women looked at Jules. “I’m not asking for details. Just tell me, is it something you want to do again?”
Eileen covered her face again. “Yes.”
Paige and Jules looked at each other smiling. “I’m happy for you, sis and Carol better not hurt you or she will have me to answer to.”
“Jules, don’t say anything to her. Please, I’m begging you.”
Paige rubbed Eileen’s hand. “Don’t worry, she won’t. Right, Jules?”
“You two are no fun,” Jules said with a pout.
The doorbell rang which caused Eileen to jump. “That will be Carol. I beg you, Jules, please don’t spoil this for me.” The tears came quickly to Eileen’s eyes.
Jules walked over to her sister and wrapped her arm around her. “I would never spoil this for you, Eileen. Believe me.”
While Jules and Eileen hugged each other, Paige went to the front door. “Hi. You must be Carol,” Paige said smiling. “Please come in. I’m Paige.”
“It’s nice to meet you. Jules only had nice things to say about you while we played golf.”
Paige giggled. “Sorry about that. I hope she didn’t drone on too much.”
Carol smiled and followed Paige. “Not at all.” But Carol couldn’t tell her that Jules did that to let her know that she was not available and not to bother trying. “Hi,” she said as they came into the kitchen.
“Hi, Carol,” Jules said quickly. “It’s nice to see you again.”
“You too, Jules.” Her eyes never left Eileen’s face.
“Why don’t you help me carry the meat outside?” Paige asked Jules so the two women could be alone.
“Oh, sure.” They both walked out the
back door.
“Hi,” Carol said moving to hug Eileen close to her.
“Hi,” Eileen answered and quickly kissed Carol’s lips.
“Is everything okay? You look upset,” Carol asked looking at Eileen’s face.
“I’m fine.” Not wanting to divulge the conversation she had with her sister and Paige.
Paige came back into the house. “Carol, why don’t you go keep Jules company while Eileen and I get the side dishes going.”
Carol glanced at Eileen a moment. “Don’t worry, honey, Jules left her shotgun at Paige’s house.” The look on Carol’s face was priceless. “I’m only teasing,” she laughed as she opened the back door.
“You scared the poor girl out of her mind,” Paige said laughing.
“I know. I shouldn’t have teased her like that.” Eileen joined in on the laughter. “So tell me about your tournament?” she asked as they put together a salad.
“I came in second and found two sponsors in Vegas,” Paige answered avoiding looking at Eileen. She knew what the next question was going to be and braced herself.
“So you’re going back on the tour?” Eileen asked when Paige faced her.
Paige nodded silently. “Yeah, but not for every tournament. I don’t think Jules would be too happy if I was gone for more than half the year.” She didn’t think she’d be happy being away from Jules for that amount of time either.
“What has Jules said about this?” Eileen asked as she cut up tomatoes.
“I haven’t told her yet, but in my defense, she hasn’t asked either.” She sighed. “I think we were both avoiding the subject.”
“So you’ve been going at it for the last two days nonstop?” Eileen asked grinning.
Paige felt her ears as they began to burn before the blush met her cheeks. “Kind of.” They both laughed. “Are you jealous?” she asked squeezing her friend’s hand.
Now it was Eileen’s turn to blush. “Yes,” she said covering her face. “I enjoyed sex in the past, but never like it was Friday night. Never.”
“I believe you know why it was never right in the past.” Paige put her arm around Eileen. “This is the first day of the rest of your life, honey. Enjoy it and don’t question your sexuality. Just enjoy.” Paige pulled away. “How about we take Alice home with us tonight? My parents are having an early barbecue tomorrow and we can bring Alice with us. She’ll have my nieces and nephews to play with.”
“I can’t ask you to do that,” Eileen insisted shaking her head.
“You didn’t, I asked. Besides, Jules and I have some things to discuss as you very well know.” Paige grinned. “With Alice there, we will be forced to sit and talk. For a while, anyway,” she said giggling.
Outside the conversation was so different. Jules put the hamburgers on the grill and took a seat next to Carol. “Aren’t you going to ask me any questions?” Carol asked quietly.
“No,” Jules answered softly, but a giggle escaped.
Carol turned in her chair and looked at Jules. “So you don’t care that I’m dating your sister?” Jules shrugged. “Talk to me, Jules.”
Jules finally looked at her. Her mouth opened and closed without her thoughts escaping. “I promised my sister I wouldn’t screw this up.”
Carol smiled. “You won’t. Just tell me what’s on your mind. Please.”
Jules collected her thoughts before she spoke. “Why would a lesbian pursue a woman that she perceives to be straight?”
Carol chuckled. “That’s the best you’ve got?” she asked looking directly into the brown eyes. “Okay. I have never given a straight woman a second look. Especially one that had a kid.” Jules growled. “Let me finish before you have a cow,” Carol swallowed. “That night that I walked into your house and saw Eileen…” She smiled. “It was as if I had known her my entire life. I’m not sure I’m explaining it properly, but my heart just opened up. It was if her eyes were looking into my soul. Shit,” she mumbled, “you have no idea what I am saying.”
Jules grinned. “I know what you mean. You’re in love.”
Carol nodded. “Please don’t tell Eileen. She’ll think I’m nuts.”
This time Jules laughed out loud. “Yeah, I think she might. Don’t worry your secret is safe with me.” Her finger came out and pointed, “You better not hurt her.”
“I won’t, Jules. You have my word.” Carol’s hand went to her heart as she spoke.
“Good because I want Eileen to be happy and you seem to do that.”
“I’ll do whatever it takes to make her happy.”
Little Alice was excited to spend the night at Paige’s home. She helped pack her backpack. Alice bounced down the stairs. “Mommy, I’m all packed,” she said going into her mother’s arms.
“You be a good girl for Aunt Jules and Aunt Paige.”
“I will, Mommy.” Alice kissed her mother’s cheek and then looked at Carol. As Carol opened her arms, Alice walked into them smiling and kissed her cheek too.
“Thank you for the kiss, sweetie. You have fun with your aunts,” she said winking at Jules.
Alice walked over to Jules and put her hand in hers. “I will.”
As the door closed, Eileen looked at Carol. Her face held just a hint of a smile, but her eyes were saying so much more. Their bodies swayed together and their lips pressed together. The kisses deepened and tongues began to dance in each other’s mouths. Words were no longer necessary as their bodies pressed together. Carol’s hands were on Eileen’s back and then they were on her breasts. Eileen moaned, feeling as if Carol’s hands were everywhere at the same time. She pulled away trying to catch her breath. “Bedroom?” Carol sat up and nodded. Their hands were entwined as they climbed the stairs. Stopping every few steps to kiss so the connection wouldn’t end as they made their journey. In the bedroom, Carol slowly removed Eileen’s clothes and left them where they fell. The only thing Eileen wouldn’t allow was the removal of her bra. This time would be no different and the bra remained in place. Eileen now reached out to help Carol out of her clothes. A grin appeared on Carol’s face because she knew that Eileen liked doing this as part of her foreplay. As her clothes came off, little kisses were left along the way. Carol’s head was thrown back in pleasure as Eileen’s mouth covered her neck with wonderful kisses.
Carol’s legs began to tremble as her arousal increased. “Baby, I can’t stand any longer. You are making me weak with desire.”
Eileen giggled against her neck. She couldn’t believe that she was having this kind of effect on the woman who held her tightly. Eileen sat Carol down on the edge of the bed and she kissed her mouth with such passion they both lost their breath. “I love the way you kiss me.” Carol tried to give her another kiss, but Eileen disappeared to the floor. Her hands grasped Carol’s legs and spread them wide as her head came forward. “I’m going to show you how well I can kiss you,” she said moaning as she licked the folds causing the juices in Carol’s body to flow freely against her mouth. “I love the way you taste. I love the way you coat my tongue.” Then she went back to loving this woman under her. Eileen felt she was out of control and couldn’t get enough of this woman in her arms. Her fingers itched to touch her inside and she did just that. Carol’s movements now increased and if Eileen hadn’t been holding her down she would have come off the bed. Carol’s screams filled the room as the strong orgasm filled her body.
Carol was now moving her body up onto the middle of the bed. “Come here you little vixen.” She pulled Eileen into her arms and kissed her hard. “No one has ever known my body the way you do. You have taken me to places I never even knew existed in my body.” Eileen giggled and buried her face in Carol’s neck. “Don’t go all shy on me now. You are a goddess and should be very proud of yourself.”
“I was so worried that I would be a complete disappointment to you.”
“Look at me,” Carol said reaching for her chin and lifting it until their eyes met. “I have never been loved until you.” She kissed her mouth softl
y. “Never,” she said over and over again as if it was a soft prayer. Carol rolled Eileen onto her back and reached for the clasp on her bra.
“No,” Eileen said rolling away from her fingers. She had explained the first time they made love that she wasn’t comfortable with Carol seeing her scars.
“Baby, I want to make love to all of you. The scars won’t bother me, but you have to trust me.”
Eileen sat up and pulled the covers up. “I can’t, Carol,” she sighed softly. “I won’t be able to stand the look on your face as you see me. Let me get the reconstructive surgery first.”
“Don’t you trust me?” Carol asked taking Eileen’s hand from the sheet she held.
“Of course I do.”
“Then let me have all of you.” They stared at each other both unwilling to give in to the other.
It seemed like an eternity, but Eileen reached behind her back and unclasped her bra. She stopped the bra from coming loose with one hand. She watched Carol’s eyes for any change, but all she saw was love and desire. Her hand dropped and the bra came loose. The prosthetic that filled one cup fell onto the bed. Eileen picked it up and placed it on the nightstand. When her eyes returned to Eileen, the bra was now on her lap.
Carol moved closer and kissed the scar that ran across where her breast had once been. Her other hand came out and squeezed Eileen’s other breast. “You are lovely, baby.” Her lips came back to the scar. “This scar has allowed you to live and for that I will always be grateful.” Carol now pulled Eileen to her body. “Let me make love to you. All of you.” Eileen slid down until she was lying flat on the mattress and that is exactly what Carol did.
CHAPTER 24
Jules and Paige played a board game with Alice before her eyes began to droop. Paige got up and took Alice’s hand. “Let’s get you into bed, honey. You have a big day tomorrow.”
Jules sat on the couch waiting for Paige to return. She knew they needed to discuss what Paige was going to do about going back on tour. They had avoided the subject long enough. She watched as Paige came back into the room. “Is she asleep?”
“The moment her head hit the pillow,” Paige answered, taking the seat next to Jules. “I know you don’t want to talk about it, but we have to.” Jules nodded her head and took Paige’s hand. “I have a tournament in September and one in October, but that’s it for the rest of the year.”
