STEPBROTHER:
DEARLY BELOVED
A Short Romance
by Tabatha Kiss
“May I have your attention, please?” Elijah said, standing up with a wine glass in hand. He stared out at his family. The eyes of his mother and grandparents, aunts and uncles, looked upon him and he was once again reminded where his handsome features came from.
They had the private room of the restaurant, filled to the brink with his stepsister’s closest friends, relatives, and family members of her fiance, Michael.
His eyes fell upon his stepsister, Rose. She looked up at him with her big eyes, full of happiness. He smiled upon her and waited for the crowd to settle before making his toast.
“Friends, family,” he paused, glancing toward Michael’s brood. “And new family. We all come together tonight as one family, the day before Rose and Michael’s wedding,” he said, adding a pause to allow for the whoops and hollers that filled the room. “Most of you know this, but Rose was only four years old when her father married my mother. I was ten and I’ll never forget that day — with Rose in her little bright blue flower girl dress. She walked down the aisle with me…” Elijah paused, recalling the memory. “I had to hold her up because she could barely walk in that fluffy dress and fancy shoes.”
Laughter erupted from the crowd, all eyes pointing toward Rose. Her cheeks burst a shade of red and she hid her face behind her hands.
“And in that moment,” Elijah continued. “I became her big brother. I knew that I would always be there to protect her. And to guide her. And to be there for her when she was scared. Or just didn’t want to be alone,” he paused and reached up to his eyes to kill a tear before it began.
“Rose is twenty-three now. She’s young, very young. But determined and ready to take on the world with this man she’s chosen. She told me first before anyone else. ‘Brother, I’m getting married,’ she said. ‘And I want you to walk me down the aisle.’” Elijah paused, taking a moment to glance at his mother, sitting alone. “And I can’t say no to my little sister’s pretty brown eyes. Never have. Never will,” he said.
Rose’s eyes filled with tears, but she was as determined to keep it together as her stepbrother was. She took a deep breath and grabbed Michael’s hand underneath the table.
“Well, enough of that now—” Elijah said, raising his glass high above his head. “Let’s have a toast to the happy couple!”
The crowd dried their eyes and shouted in happiness as they downed their glasses and continued their party.
“Your stepbrother is a classy guy,” Michael said to Rose.
“Yeah, he is,” Rose agreed. Her hands shook and she dropped Michael’s hand to move some food around on her plate with a fork. “He really has always been there for me.”
“He doesn’t need to be anymore,” Michael said, leaning in with a grin. “I’m here for you now. I can’t wait for tomorrow! Especially tomorrow night!”
Rose smiled, a pang filling her stomach.
***
Rose collapsed on her bed after a long day. First, there was the wedding rehearsal. The priest had forgotten to show up, as did half of Michael’s wedding party, so it took hours longer than it ever should have. Then one last stop at the dress shop to make sure everything fit right for her and the bridesmaids. At least three dresses needed to be resized. Then the rehearsal dinner, but Rose was too nervous to eat any of the food.
She stared at the ceiling of her childhood bedroom. This would be the last night she would wake up to the familiar ceiling. The attic room was all she’d ever known.
Michael was excited to “free her from the prison of her stepmother’s house,” but Rose never saw it that way. When her father married Elijah’s mother, they moved in and she never left. She doesn’t remember much of her first few years of life, but she remembers sadness in her father’s eyes. Sadness that disappeared after their wedding. Sadness that returned in the eyes of Elijah’s mother when he was suddenly taken from them.
Rose decided to stay with her stepmother for as long as necessary. She didn’t adjust well to losing her husband and Rose felt awful. Even when she went to college across town, she didn’t leave. Rose loved the house and her stepmother too much to leave.
But it was her last night in the house.
Tomorrow night, she’d be a bride.
And being a bride came with certain responsibilities.
Rose squeezed her eyes closed and tried not to focus on it, but the visuals wouldn’t go away. Rose and Michael had decided to wait to make love until after the wedding. She had never been touched that way in all her life and she couldn’t stop fearing the worst of it.
Will it hurt?
What if I’m so grossed out, I run away screaming?
Do all brides fear their first night as a wife?
She screamed inside her mind, trying to silence the neurosis. When that didn’t work, she stood up and stared at herself in the mirror. The finished wedding gown hung from her closet door next to it. Rose decided to try it on one last time to be sure that idiot dressmaker didn’t botch it all.
As she undressed herself, Rose studied her nude body in the mirror. She wasn’t unattractive and sported an envious pair of hips. Her breasts were just big enough and she was overly happy with what she saw.
But the voice in her head told her Michael wouldn’t be.
He’s going to take one look at you and cringe.
Rose grabbed her wedding dress and threw it on, mostly just to shield herself from her naked form. She loved the feeling of the fabric flowing across her skin and she found herself smiling as she twirled herself around in front of the mirror.
“Wow…”
Rose let out a scream, but quickly covered her mouth. “Elijah!”
Elijah stepped into the room, his head protruding through the crack of the door. “I’m sorry I scared you,” he said, with his hands raised up.
Rose laughed and regained her composure. “It’s fine,” she said. “What are you doing here? It’s almost midnight!”
Elijah sighed and closed the door behind him. “Mom called me and made me run a bunch of extra errands before tomorrow.”
“But… it’s almost midnight…”
“Try explaining that to her…” Elijah joked. His eyes flicked upward. “I heard the rustling around up here, figured I’d come up and make sure you were okay. How are you…” he pointed to the dress, “holding up with all this?”
Rose sighed. “I’m happy,” she said.
“But?” Elijah said with a smile as he sat down on the edge of her bed.
“But… I’m terrified.”
“Everyone is just before,” he said. “You don’t have anything to worry about. Michael is a good guy. You’ll be taken care of.”
“I’m more worried about t
aking care of him,” Rose said, plopping down into a nearby chair.
“What do you mean?”
Rose hesitated. “I don’t know if I should talk about this with you…”
Elijah thought a moment and easily put it all together. “Oh…” he said. He patted the empty bed next to him. “Come on over here.”
Rose stood up from her chair and sat next to Elijah on the bed.
Elijah tossed his arm around her shoulders. “So, you’re worried about taking care of him,” he repeated. “But you shouldn’t.”
“Why not?” Rose asked. “He’s been waiting for this for so long! I have no idea what I’m doing. He’s going to take one look at me and regret ever marrying me. He’s going to laugh at me. And I’m not sure I can take that!” Tears filled her eyes, ready to spill over.
“Rose, Rose, stop!” Elijah said. He cupped her face and turned her toward him. “Take a deep breath. You need to push all of that out of your mind because it’s not possible.”
“It’s not?”
“Of course it’s not,” he said. “You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Rose laughed. “Really?”
He shifted slightly on the bed. “Would I lie to you?” Elijah asked.
“No,” she said, staring into his eyes. “You wouldn’t. You’ve always been there for me.”
“And I always will be,” he said. He leaned in close and wrapped his arms around her in a brotherly embrace.
Rose laid her head on his shoulder. Her body heat rose. For the first time, she felt a disturbance deep inside her. It was instinctive, primal. It traveled from her heart to her limbs, then back again. A warm pulse found it’s home between her legs.
“You would never say no to me,” she said, quoting his toast from the rehearsal dinner.
“That’s right,” he said in her ear.
Rose turned her face toward him. “Teach me,” she said.
Elijah pulled back. “What?”
“Teach me,” Rose repeated.
“I don’t understand what you mean.”
“Yes, you do, brother,” she said. Rose stood up and positioned herself in front of him. “Teach me how to please a man.”
“Rose, please,” Elijah said, his hands up. “You’ve got this all wrong. All of that… will come later, okay? The two of you will learn to please each other with time.”
“I don’t want to wait for time to teach me,” Rose said. “I want you to teach me.”
Elijah sat back and looked into Rose’s eyes. He could feel the point of no return inching closer and closer inside of him. But there was still time to turn away. “I don’t think you fully understand what you’re asking of me, Rose,” he said.
“Haven’t you thought about it?” she asked. “Don’t lie.”
Elijah sighed. “Yes.”
“I want this, Elijah,” Rose said. She fell down to her knees and moved toward him. “Don’t say no to me tonight,” she said, placing her hands on his legs.
Elijah reached out and cupped her face. Her brown eyes stared back at him and his body turned to jelly. He’d admired her face so many times before but threw the forbidden thoughts away with yesterday’s garbage. His member formed within his trousers and the thoughts returned with full vengeance.
The gown hugged her body just right. The tops of her breasts presented themselves as glorious peaks. They heaved as Rose inhaled and Elijah couldn’t help but imagine himself nibbling at them, immersed in her innocent aroma.
Elijah thought back to his speech at the rehearsal dinner. He’d said that he couldn’t say no to his little sister. Never had.
Never will.
“Okay,” he said, defeated. “What do you want to learn?”
Rose smiled. “Everything.”
“Let’s start with the basics,” Elijah said, reaching for his belt. “Have you ever seen one before?”
“No,” Rose said. “I mean, not outside of movies or books.”
Elijah unzipped his fly and pulled his trousers down to the floor. Rose gathered them at his ankles and tossed them to the side in one clump. He stood up, wearing only his shirt and briefs.
His erection pushed against the fabric of his briefs, eager for freedom. “Are you sure?” he asked. “I promise, it will be the last time I ask.”
“I’m sure,” Rose said, still on her knees. “Let me see it.”
Elijah bent down and dropped his briefs to the floor. His hard cock flopped out to stand on end.
Rose’s eyebrows jumped as she stared at him. “It’s… big,” she said. “Is every man this big?”
“No,” Elijah answered. “I’ve been blessed with this. Every man is a little longer, a little shorter than every other man. Every one is shaped a little differently, too.”
“Like a snowflake,” Rose said.
“I guess so,” Elijah said with a laugh.
“Can I touch it?”
Elijah nodded as she scooted herself closer to him. She reached out with trembling hands and took him in her palm. A shiver flew through his body as he felt her touch for the first time. She used the tips of her fingers to feel him, not sure where to start.
“You don’t have to be so gentle,” he said. “They can take a lot.”
Rose tightened her grip on him. “Like this?”
“Oh yeah,” Elijah groaned. “Move your hand back and forth.”
“Like this?” Rose asked, her hand stroking him.
“Just like that,” he said. “Move over the entire shaft, especially the tip.”
“Is the tip sensitive?”
“Yes.”
Elijah’s head fell back and he stared at the ceiling. He closed his eyes, concentrating hard on every stroke she gave him. “You’re doing just fine.”
Rose giggled. “Hard to believe.”
“Stick the tip in your mouth,” Elijah said.
Her grip loosened on the shaft and her strokes ceased. Elijah’s eyes flew open. His heart leapt up his throat with the immediate regret of going too far. “Fuck, I’m sorry—” he began.
“No— No!” Rose laughed, her nervous eyes flickering in the soft lights. “It’s fine.”
Elijah laughed and sat down on the edge of the bed. “Take your time,” he said. “Don’t focus on pleasure or anything like that. Just get to know it and how it feels.”
“All right,” Rose moved forward, an eager student. She slowly opened her mouth and stuck out her tongue to lick him.
Elijah’s nectar formed on his tip, giving Rose quite the first taste of a man. She took a moment to immerse herself in his juices.
“How does it taste?” Elijah asked.
“Nice,” Rose answered. “Sweet and inviting.”
“A man’s taste will change depending on what he eats or drinks,” Elijah said. “So don’t be surprised if Michael tastes differently.”
Rose nodded and made a mental note before sticking his tip between her lips.
“Move your tongue,” Elijah said. “Massage the tip while it’s inside your mouth.”
Rose did as she was told, following his instructions. “Like this?” she mumbled with him still inside her mouth.
“Yes,” he said, admiring the shape of her cheekbones. They stuck out so perfectly with a cock in her mouth, he wanted to take a picture of them. “Lick with your tongue, then try to suck with your lips.”
Rose laughed and his hard rod fell from her lips. “That doesn’t sound complicated or anything!”
“Give it a try,” Elijah urged. “It’s not as difficult as you think.”
“How would you know?” Rose said with a wink.
He laughed. “Good point. You got me.”
Rose kept smiling and got back to work on him. She slid him back inside and tried the sucking motion with her lips.
A moan escaped Elijah’s lips as he watched her learn. Her cheeks tightened even more around her cheekbones with each little suck she gave. He felt a rush of blood enter his groin and his passions rose
higher and higher for her. “Look up at me,” he said.
Rose flicked her eyes up.
“Eye contact is essential. You don’t need to overdo it, but a sultry stare can do wonders,” he said.
She nodded.
“Now,” Elijah said, brushing his hand through her hair. “Try to take it in deeper.”
She moved forward, taking him inch by inch. Elijah helped her along, pulling her closer with a grip on the back of her head.
Rose’s heart raced. Her mouth was feeling numb from the new movements. With every inch she brought him more inside, it became harder to breathe. A chill ran down her back as a lightheaded wave came over her.
The tip of his member brushed her reflex and she pulled her head away. A cough escaped her throat. Elijah dropped his grip on her neck.
“Take a moment,” he said. “That’s normal.”
Rose coughed a few more times, tears stinging her eyes. “I want to try again,” she said.
Elijah nodded, his body shaking with desire. “Take it slowly. It can take a lot of practice to get used to.”
She wiped her eyes and moved in for another go at him.
“Relax your throat,” he said, placing his hand back where it was behind her head.
Rose took a deep, long breath to calm her nerves. The muscles of her throat felt tense, guarded. But once the air spread through the depths of her body, the muscles eased back to normal. She took Elijah’s rod in more and more until it rested against the back of her throat.
“Try sucking again,” Elijah said. “As you do it, bob your head back and forth, stroking the shaft with your lips. Just like you were doing with your hand earlier…”
Rose moved her whole head back, licking down the shaft as she went. Elijah’s knees jerked from the sensation of her. Her lips squeezed around him as they moved and Rose couldn’t help but smile as she saw the pleasure on his face.
“Want me to stop?” she asked, tongue planted firmly in cheek.
“Keep going,” he groaned, his hand guiding her along.
Rose chuckled at him and pulled him out of her mouth. “I’m sorry, Elijah,” she said. “But my jaw is on fire here.”
