Heart of Dixon Page 10

by Danielle Jamie

Not wasting a second I jump into the passenger seat of the sleek black Audi Q7 Kayden got to help hide us from Zak. It’s completely bullet proof. It’s scary to think how many people request that on a daily basis due to the numbers in their bank account or the job title they hold.

Jax set my suitcase in the back of the car before joining me and firing up the engine. “Savannah is on her way also. I just got the text from Jerome. He’ll be joining us for extra security on the island since the guys will probably want to go out to the bars. We don’t want you girls sitting at the mansion unattended.”

“It’s a private island. That you need helicopters and speed boats to get to. You think we need that much security?” The shock is evident in my tone. Jax lets out a low chuckle trying to lighten the mood.

“More than likely there’s nothing to worry about. But it’s always best to be extra careful rather than too lenient. That’s when you find yourself in trouble. People always look for others who have their guard down so they can take advantage of them.” I shrug my shoulders and sit back against the seat and watch as Jax drives the car around to the back of the airport. Within seconds, I spot Kayden’s jet and the other Audi rolling to a stop beside it. I don’t even wait for Jax to put the car in park. I fling the door open, jump out and run towards Savannah, who’s approaching the stairs leading up into the cabin of the plane screaming, “Ahhh! Bahamas here we come!”

Awkward doesn’t even begin to describe that flight. Dixon gave me the silent treatment, acting as if I wasn’t even on board, which I didn’t let get to me or at least let him see anyway. He only spoke once to me to say that he hopes Savannah doesn’t mind if he and Jax drag Kayden out to a club or two while in the Bahamas...because...and I quote, “He wants to find some hot ass Bahama babes.” Seriously, he is pulling a one-eighty and being the biggest douchebag. I swear someone needs to give that guy a psych evaluation because he’s giving Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde some serious competition in the split personality department.

I spent the entire time with Savannah in the small bedroom on Kayden’s Jet watching Bridesmaids. At one point, she fell asleep, and the plane hit a pocket of turbulence setting her into a panic attack. It was terrifying seeing her like that. Her doctor said she’s suffering from PTSD from her accident. I wanted to cry seeing her freaking out like she was. She was completely terrified until we were able to calm her down. I’m really hoping this getaway will be what she needs to start on the path of recovery. We can only hope, by the time we return home, there will be good news waiting for us.

Taking two flights back to back is exhausting. Even with this one being pretty quick and the flight comfy as hell since we’re flying in a luxury jet, I’m ready to get my feet on the ground and soak up some rays. Finally, the pilot announces we’re about to land so we all get to our seats and buckle up. My feet are bouncing from the excitement coursing through my veins.

We all watch out the small windows as the plane descends onto the small airstrip on Kayden’s island. The water is turquoise, and there are palm trees everywhere with white sand along the shoreline of the island. After a few jolts, the plane smoothly rolls to a stop with the pilot giving us the all clear to exit the plane.

“Welcome to paradise, baby,” Kayden says at all of us as he swings open the door allowing the bright, warm sunshine to shine in. The smell of fresh ocean air rolls in, caressing our skin, as we begin exiting.

“I cannot wait to get my bikini on and lay on the beach!” Savannah says walking beside Kayden and me as we make our way towards two Jeeps that are parked waiting for us.

Forget bikinis, this is a freaking private island. Goodbye tan lines!

“Hell yeah girly, we are going to get our tan on! Forget the bikini; this place doesn’t have a soul on it! I’m going au naturel!” I bump shoulders with her, giggling at the shocked expression on her face. She can be such a prude sometimes. It’s adorable.

“Well, you better make sunscreen your friend because the last thing you want is a sunburned twat!” Savannah says, laughing and pushing me back playfully.

We’ve only been here a few minutes and already she seems like her old self. Her smile is so wide I think her cheeks will be aching by this evening.

“I, for one, am all for skinny dipping,” Dixon says, walking past me and slapping me hard on the ass.

I’d love to skinny dip with him too, but he better wait and make sure he isn’t being an ass at the time because I’d have to contemplate the merits of skinny dipping sex or feeding his ass to the fricking sharks.

I decide to take a little jab at him for the bimbo he was with last Sunday. Lord knows I’m lying my ass off right now with this statement, but I love riling him up! “Better be careful, Dixon! We don’t want all the fish thinking your little wiener is lunch!”

Everyone burst out laughing around me, and I can’t help but join in. That was pretty good. But not missing a beat, Dixon fires right back at me, “That’s not what you were screaming the other night if I recall correctly.”

I glance at Kayden who mouths, “Burn!”

I so want to kick his ass, but it’ll have to wait. I take off running after Dixon. He jumps into the driver’s seat of the Jeep, so I run around to the other side to join him climbing up into the passenger seat. I glance back and see Jax climbing into the other Jeep with Savannah and Kayden and Jerome filling the third Jeep with all of our luggage.

“Hold on to your tits, B,” Dixon says with an impish smirk on his lips as he puts the Jeep in drive following Jerome down the one lane road. Jerome is flying right along, and we’re keeping right up with him. I’m pinned back against the seat laughing as I grip the door with one hand and Dixon’s arm with the other. The second I grabbed him I felt the all too familiar charge ignite between us but try my best to ignore it.

I can feel Dixon’s eyes on me, but force myself to keep my eyes looking straight ahead. I can’t give him the satisfaction of seeing he gets to me so easily. I need to do what Savannah said and make him work for it. I’m done chasing him. It’s about time Dixon chased me. Aren't the best things in life worth working for and waiting for anyway? Dixon's stubborn ass just needs to get in his head that I'm the best thing that's ever happened to him.

  Chapter Ten

With the help of Jerome and Jax, we got all of our bags up to our rooms. I out freaked the minute I stepped into my room. It is simply breathtaking with large French doors that lead out onto a balcony overlooking the bright aqua waters below. I can’t wait to sit out there in the morning with my coffee. This place is paradise all the way. I don’t know why Kayden doesn’t come here more because you are completely cut off from the outside world. No press to harass you, no drama dudes and divas lurking in the shadows waiting to stir up trouble. I, for one, am going to have to be dragged back to the airplane, kicking and screaming, come Sunday.

Right now, we’re all getting ready to head down to the water to soak up some rays and play around on the jet skis. Slipping into my tiny, two-piece animal print Victoria’s Secret bikini that leaves little to the imagination, I tie a wrap around my waist, slip on my aviators and grab my beach tote tossing my phone and sunscreen in it before heading downstairs. I find everyone hanging out in the kitchen where one of Kayden’s staff is mixing us up some drinks.

“We’re mixing up some Hurricanes. You want one?” Savannah asks popping a chunk of pineapple into her mouth.

Kayden and Dixon are sipping on Coronas talking amongst themselves while Jax and Jerome, who I spot through the window, are gassing up the jet skis.

I pad across the tile floor over to Savannah and prop myself up against the countertop beside Dixon, turning my back to him. “Of course. When in the Bahamas you need to drink nothing but yummy, fruity cocktails. Can you do mine with blended ice though.”

My skin is tingling from head to toe as I feel Dixon’s fingers begin gliding down the curve of my shoulder. A shiver works its way down my spine and explodes at my core making my girly parts come a
live as his warm breath, which smells of Corona, caresses my skin, “What happened to tanning in the nude?” He asks before fingering the strings of my bikini bottoms that are dangling from my hips.

Shrugging my shoulders, I push off of the counter and move as far away from Dixon as possible. “I’m only going to go topless for now, but maybe I’ll skinny dip once the sun goes down.” I wink at him before walking over to the other side of Savannah to grab my drink. If I’m going to stand my ground, I need to keep some distance between us. It’s hard to think straight once he puts his hands on me. I scoop my drink up off of the counter taking a long sip from the straw and moaning as the flavor explodes in my mouth, and the ice instantly cools my flushed body.

“Oh, wow! Now that is amazing. Thank you, Juliana.” I say, giving her a warm smile. She has her jet black hair pulled back in a tight bun and is wearing an all-white uniform that looks more like an outfit for the country club rather than for working in a beachside Mansion. It makes her skin glow even more with the deep contrast from her outfit.

I shift my eyes back to Dixon as I seductively slide my tongue over the top of my straw before wrapping my lips back around, having another sip of my drink.

Dixon clears his throat before bringing his bottle up to his lips, taking a long pull from his beer, dangling the neck of his beer between his index and middle finger. His eyes stayed locked on me, watching my hand as I rest it on my hip where Dixon’s fingers just were and play with the two strings that are holding on my bottoms.

His eyes slowly slide over me causing my body to flush red hot once again and the air to suddenly feel very thick, making it hard to breathe. I take one more sip, moaning one more time before licking my lips, savoring the fruity concoction. Dixon’s eyes dilate as they settle on my lips. I hear a loan growl escape him as he repositions himself in his board shorts. I can’t help but giggle at his reaction. I quickly bite my lip trying to stop my laughter.

“Ready to head down to the beach?” I ask Savannah, turning away from Dixon. I won’t be able to keep a straight face if I stay in this kitchen with him any longer. I’m enjoying torturing him way too much. If he wants to keep bragging about going out to find random chicks when I’m right here, then I’ll torture him until he has the worst case of blue balls in his entire life. I will not give in to him so easily anymore. I’m over the whole hot and cold act.

“I’m all set. Let’s go.” Savannah is glowing with excitement as we leave the kitchen. In a matter of thirty minutes, I’ve seen her smile more than she has in two weeks. A little fun in the sun will only make her feel more like her old self.

I follow Savannah out of the house and down to the beach. There’s a small wooden Cabana built over the water attached to a long pier where the guys' jet skis are parked. With our towels in tow, we walk a little further down the secluded beach until we find a spot that’s perfect for working on our tans.

Laying my towel out on my lounger, I plop down on it and get to work applying sunscreen all over my body. Jerome passes by nodding courteously down at us before jogging up the wooden stairs back up into the house. At the same time, Kayden and Dixon came barreling down the stairs onto the beach. They’re both sporting nothing but Aviators and board shorts as they strut through the white sand walking past us towards the jet skis.

God, Dixon looks so damn hot it’s practically burning my damn eyes looking at him.

“Y’all sure you don’t wanna hop on and go for a ride with us?” Kayden asks stopping and peering down at us through his shades.

Savannah falls back on her elbows and shakes her head, “We’re sure. Maybe after we lay out for a bit, we’ll change our minds.”

Reaching behind my back, I pull on my strings, undo my top, and let it dangle from my neck before reaching up and untying the strings around my neck. The breeze is warm, and the salt air feels amazing on my skin as small waves roll onto the shore. Dixon’s mouth hangs open slightly as I toss my top into the sand beside me, and I roll onto my stomach. Looking up at him over my shoulder, I don’t bother hiding the smile playing on my lips. “Yeah, I agree. We’ll probably wanna ride later,” I drop my eyes to Dixon’s crotch as the last words leave my mouth.

“Okay, well, let us know whenever and we’ll come into shore and pick y’all up,” Dixon says before sprinting down the beach and climbing onto to his jet ski. I burst out laughing as I look over at Savannah, who has Kayden leaning over her.

“Aren’t you gonna go topless too, baby?” He asks running his fingers up the sides of her stomach as he kneels down in the sand in front of her.

Her eyes get big as she shakes her head, “No. Way!”

Before she can react, Kayden is reaching around her and unhooking her tube top, stuffing it in his board shorts pocket.

“Hey! Give me back my top! I don’t want Jax and Dixon to see my boobs!” She shrieks wrapping her right around across her chest while holding her left hand up at Kayden.

“Nope. Sorry, baby. We’re in the Bahamas. It’s time to let loose. Let those tities breathe and get nice and tan. If the guys come by just roll over like Brooklyn. Plus you have nothing to worry about, they know I’d drown their asses if they stared at your tits.”

Savannah finally gives in and lets out a sigh of defeat before rolling onto her stomach and furrowing her brows at me, “If my nipples get sunburnt, I swear to God, Brooklyn.”

“Whoa! What the hell did I do? Did I force Kayden to steal your top? He did that all on his own.” There’s no way I’m letting her blame this on me. Just because I want to let my girls hang out doesn’t mean it’s my fault Kayden stole her top...although it was priceless seeing her face when he did.

Rolling her eyes, she reaches into her beach bag pulling out her sunscreen and starts rubbing it over her breasts. “Brooklyn, don’t play the ‘what did I do?’ innocent act. You know you could get a monk to drop his damn robe with the bat of your lashes.”

I burst out laughing at that one because she’s probably right. “True. But, come on, Kayden’s right. We’re on a private island. Take advantage of it! Plus, he has a point. If Jax or Dixon ogled your rack, he’d beat their asses, and then I would finish the job when he was done.”

Before we know it, an hour has passed, and our glasses are empty. I need this dilemma fixed as soon as possible because the only way I’m getting through this weekend is with lots and lots of alcohol.

Turning to Savannah, I blurt out, “I think I’m going to have to be drunk twenty-four-seven to get through this weekend.”

Of course Savannah finds my situation hilarious, me not so much. If all goes as planned, I’ll drive Dixon so crazy that he’ll be saying Bahama babes, who? And finally see what the hell is right in front of him. I don’t understand why he is so all over the place. One minute I think things are going amazingly well between us and the next he’s being an asshole again.

“All I know is, tonight I will not stop until I have Dixon in my bed. That piece of shit owes me a good fuck after the way he’s treated me since we came back from LA after your accident.” Savannah chokes on the last sip of her drink as my brazen words fly from my mouth.

I don’t care. I tell it how it is. The whole I want you, then I don’t want you shit is getting to be too much. He owes me an amazing weekend in paradise to make up for all the women he’s been flaunting around in front of me since I’ve come back to Houston.

My cheeks hurt from smiling so hard as the thought of torturing Dixon all day plays through my mind.

The player is about to get played.

Laughing Savannah says, “I can’t keep up with you! So will it be just Dixon this weekend? Or are you planning on hooking up with Jax, too?”

Wow. I accidently hook up with Jax and Xander in the same weekend, and now she thinks it’s going to become the norm for me? That was a drunken mishap!

“Damn you, bitch, you’re making me sound like a damn whore. No, I don’t plan on sleeping with Jax, but that doesn’t mean I will not be flirting my ass of
f with him. Dixon is going to get a piece of his own medicine.”

I feel bad for using Jax, but it’s the only way I’m going to be able to give Dixon a dose of his own damn medicine. For weeks, he’s flaunted his other hookups in my face. Now it’s my turn to make him jealous. Maybe then he’ll finally pull his head out of his ass.

Juliana, being the amazing woman that she is, made us new drinks in record time and even brought us down a big bowl of diced fruit. We downed our drinks and snacked on fruit for a few minutes before deciding to join the boys out on the water to cool off.

I tie my top back on and jog down the beach and into the water, stopping when the water hit my knees. Waving my hands around I flag the guys over to us. One by one, they all slowly float towards shore.

“Y’all finally decide to join us?” Kayden asks looking from me then over my shoulder back at Savannah, who’s sitting on her lounger with her arms covering her chest.

I swing my hand out towards Kayden smirking, “Savannah won’t budge until she gets her top back on.”

Kayden lets out a deep laugh as he digs her top out of his shorts. He tosses it into my hand then yells up the beach at Savannah, “Get your top on, and then hurry you cute little ass over here.”

After helping Savannah clasp the back of her top we run back down into the water. “Can I drive?” She asks sweetly batting her long lashes at Kayden. He’s like putty in her hands and quickly scoots back on the seat giving her room to climb on in front of him.

“If she’s driving so am I,” I glance at Dixon who looks like he’s ready to give in and let me drive his jet ski like when I drove his four-wheeler back at Kayden’s ranch a few weeks back, but instead I turn to Jax. “What do ya say, Jax? Will you let me ride on yours?”

It takes everything in me to not burst out laughing at the expression on Savannah and Kayden’s face, and the annoyed grunt that comes from Dixon if freaking priceless before he speeds off with Savannah and Kayden, following, as I climb on and get positioned in front of Jax.
