Adam huddled in closer. “I logged onto one of the computers a few weeks ago. Coach must have been using it before me because there was a file that was open. In it, I found all these documents, satellite photos and other stuff on all the things he was talking about tonight. I didn’t think anything of it at the time but now it all makes sense.” The group looked puzzled. “So what you’re saying is Coach has been gearing us up for this for weeks now?” quizzed Jaime. “It seems that way. It appears he’s been tracking the locations of these relics and has waited for the right time to make a move.” said Adam. “Hmmm. I guess only he knew when we would truly be ready for actual field work.” said Jaime.

“Well, it’s definitely crunch time tonight. How you guys feeling? Questioned Andrew. The group all looked at each other, each person anticipating the others response.

Josh answered first, “Well I’ve been waiting for some real action to be honest.

There’s only so much training we can do before we have to put it into practice. It’s basically like football, you train and train, but it means nothing if you don’t go out and win the games. We’re obviously ready, or else coach wouldn’t make this decision.”

The group nodded in agreement with Josh’s statement.

“I agree with Josh, I think we’re ready. We’ve all come this far now, and we can’t turn back. I guess we’re gonna save the world,” laughed Jaime.

The boys discussed the subject for a while and it helped to take the edge of the coming mission. After an hour had passed, they decided to get some sleep and rest until it was time to get ready.

The piercing sound of the alarm rang off in the room and startled all four boys to attention. Slowly, one by one they stirred and dragged themselves to their feet. “Its 11 pm already?!” questioned Andrew. Josh patted him on the back, “Its game time baby.” They all made their way towards the meeting room and sat down for a mission briefing.

“I see you’ve all had enough rest before we go ahead with tonight’s task,” stated Sean as he scanned over the 4 boys. The room dimmed down again as Coach Stevens prepared his presentation for the evening’s event.

“Now, the first artefact we are going after is the Star of David. As I told you before, it’s a ring that holds immense power. The wearer has the ability to perform dark magic and control demons. The location of the ring is being held here,” the screen switched over from pictures of the artefact to a map. Sean rested his pointer on the screen.

“Isn’t that Windsor County?” asked Jaime.

“Yes. Windsor County, Buckinghamshire.” stated Sean

Adam looked puzzled, “Why would The Star of David be there?”

“You’re right, why Windsor? Windsor County is just an ordinary town. Normal, apart from one thing. They have one of the largest Masonic Lodges in the world. And I know for sure they’re membership hold the ranks of some of the top officials in the US Senate, Government and Army. Some of the people I used to work for. I’ve been tracking the rings location and its last whereabouts points to here; The Royal Masonic Lodge of Windsor County.”

Adam began to mumble under his breath. Sean could tell he was calculating something and urged him to speak what was on his mind.

“It all makes sense now, I guess,” he said. “I remember you mentioned the Freemasons when you were teaching us about the occult and witchcraft. I decided to do some more research of my own and it led me to discover the Knights Templar.

I found out that the Knights Templar were a specialist branch of the Freemasons, tasked with procuring and safeguarding religious artefacts. It’s the reason the crusades occurred; they were trying to get the works of King Solomon from Jerusalem. They seem to die out however as history goes on. Do you think it could be them that are in possession of the Star of David at the lodge?”

The room fell silent. Everyone looked at Adam.

“You are way too smart for your own good ya know that,” stated Jaime. Adam smiled, “It’s just a hunch, but maybe something worth considering.”

Sean nodded and walked over to the table. He put on some special electronic gloves and proceeded to create a 3d holographic blueprint of the entire building.

“I have scoped the entire building from top to bottom, inside and out. Not done without some difficulty I can assure you. There are 10 levels inside the building.

The artefact is located in a vault on the 9th floor. CCTV is present everywhere, especially the vault. Each floor has 5 security guards on patrol 24 hours a day. The vault itself is checked every half an hour. It boasts infrared trip wires and has a pressure sensor floor that is automatically triggered once the door is shut and deactivated when opened.

When active if someone steps on it, the vault will lock shut and release knock out gas to incapacitate an intruder. There are two access points into the building we can use. Adam, you will be on surveillance. I will need you to hack the security system, giving us eyes inside the building. Team one, myself and Andrew, are entering in through the roof of the building.

We will use the neighbouring multi-storey car park as vantage point. It has 2-night security guards on patrol. Once we take them out, we can proceed to the top and zip line in from there. Once on the roof, there is a large glass skylight window we can easily cut through that leads to the room directly above the vault on the 10th floor.

Once inside we will have to cut through the floor and enter the vault itself. The other is an underground sewage tunnel. There’s a manhole near to the car park which can be used.

From there Jaime and Josh can access a service door which will give you entry into the ground floor of the building via the cleaning/waste cupboard.

Here I will need you to cause a timed diversion by setting off some bombs. This will set off the fire alarm system causing the building to be evacuated which means the guards won’t check the vault at the standard 30-minute interval, giving us enough time to extract the ring, and leave. Are we clear?”

“Yes sir!” they all shouted in unison.

“Good, head over to the armoury and let’s gear up.” commanded Sean.

The boys began preparing themselves for the mission ahead. An assortment of tools and weapons were taken including a laser cutter, zip line gear, C4 explosives and small firearms.

They all proceeded to put on specialised tactical suits. These were special military espionage suits equipped with electronic Nanotechnology that interfaced directly with the wearer’s nervous system.

Adjusting to the wearer's body, the protective suit could boost physical attributes but also the electronic signals interfaced with the wearer’s brain waves increasing reaction time and decision making. Vital signs could also be scanned and tracked by the suit, adjusting to serve the wearer. The suit itself was bulletproof and had built in pain inhibitors. Each outfit was black in colour, ideal for stealth and came with a headset with built in infrared, heat and night vision

“Everyone sync your watches please,” instructed Sean.

He looked them all over and smiled. “I am proud of all 4 of you. Tonight is the night you are no longer my students, but my comrades. Huddle in everyone.”

They all crowded together and Coach said a prayer before they left. Locking the compound they exited outside. Walking a few yards away from the church, the click of car keys could be heard as Sean activated a remote control. The ground before them began to shudder as it came loose to reveal a ramp. Sean entered down into the blackness and the boys followed. Slowly the darkness gave way to light as the motion sensors picked up on the movement of bodies. Bulbs clicked on and illuminated the area, to reveal a fully equipped garage and vehicles including a customized bullet/bombproof blacked out GM Hummer.

“Always full of surprises,” smirked Andrew.

“WOOOOOO,” screamed Josh. “Do we get to drive this?! Please say we get to drive this?”

Coach Stevens laughed. “I get to drive it.”

  “I call shotgun!” shouted Josh.

  Sean and Josh climbed in
front whilst the rest of the team entered into the back.

The main part of the hummer had been customized purely for combat and surveillance. The side doors had been removed and modified to fit the boot so it opened outwards. Seats and standard interior had been removed. A super computer was fitted into the back, with hacking, CCTV, radar and satellite tracking capabilities. It also had built in weapons boasting missile launchers, flamethrower and machine guns. Not to mention a small weapons cache inside. The windows were bulletproof and the dashboard had a fully automated A.I computer built in with a cloaking device to hide the vehicle.

“Are we ready to go boys?” shouted Sean

  “YES SIR!” shouted the boys.

They headed out to Windsor County. It was a 2-hour drive in total. Andrew sat with his headphones in, contemplating what was to come.

The journey seemed to fly by as they approached their target. It was 2 am now and the Town of Windsor County was eerily quiet. All the shops were closed at this hour. A few cars crossed paths with them on the road but the streets remained silent, void of any life, a sombre shadow to the glory of the spirit of the city in the daytime.

Sean eased his foot off the acceleration pedal slightly, bringing the car down from a roaring speed to a purring cruise as he didn’t want to attract attention to his driving.

He spotted the car park and gently parked the car alongside. Jaime got out and silently made his way to the security booth. Approaching carefully, he waited by the door. He strategically threw a smoke bomb through the window causing confusion in the office. Then entering into the kiosk, he fired two darts containing a highly concentrated sleeping agent. With the guards immobilised, Sean drove the car inside, making his way up to the top floor. He parked the van opposite The Masonic Lodge. Turning the engine off he signalled for the boys to stay in the car as he stepped outside. Taking his goggles, he scoped the building. Using the heat vision he determined that the only personnel in the building were the security team and the cleaners.

I count 60 people, he said to himself.

Jumping back in the car he quickly briefed his team. Adam sat poised by the computer, ready and awaiting instruction. They said one last prayer and set out. Jaime and josh headed down, swiftly and carefully, avoiding the street lights and sticking to the shadows. Adam started on his evening's work by firstly hacking the street cameras. This gave Josh and Jaime the time they needed. Once by the manhole, they used a small amount of C4 to create a tiny explosion. Moving the manhole they entered into the underground sewage tunnel. The sound of their quick and light footsteps could be heard resonating through the pipeline as they ran through the damp passage to get to the other end. Once there, they repeated the same procedure and climbed through the now loosened manhole.

Sean and Andrew awaited their voices in their headsets. It seemed like the longest wait of Andrew’s life as he hoped his friends were ok. Then there was a crackling in the headset as it adjusted volume. “Sir we are at the service door. Over”

Relief rushed over Andrew as his heart began to slow in pace from the quickened panic he was feeling. Now at the door, the boys donned their heat vision head sets to see if anybody was near buy. “I see two guards nearest to our position sir. Another two across the hall and one stationed in the centre of the foyer. What is your orders, sir? Over.”

Sean paused to think. “Are they on patrol or stationary? Over.”

“They are moving sir but they aren’t checking the service cupboard. Permission to advance? Over.” Said Jaime

Sean gave a signal to Adam to begin hacking the security on the door. Once completed Adam gave him a thumbs up. They were free to enter.

  “Go go go.” instructed Sean

The boys entered the room and unloaded their equipment. Adam quickly re-hacked the door so that it locked them in and nobody from the outside could get in.

They began surgically and precisely placing bombs in the small room, out of plain sight. The cleaning chemicals and other assorted products would cause a chain reaction once combusted, which would force the building to have to be evacuated due to health and safety. With everything going according to plan the boys sent word and Adam unlocked the door. They scrambled back into a manhole and made their way back to the truck.

Arriving back at the Hummer, Andrew greeted his friends, reassured that they were now out of harm’s way. All four boys high fived but their celebration was cut short by the course, brass voice of Coach Stevens.

“Well done boys, but the mission's not over yet. Let’s go A.R, we’re up next.”

Andrew took a deep breath and waved his friends goodbye. Exiting the vehicle he followed closely behind Sean. Once they got to the edge of the parking space, Sean deployed the zip line gun. Using the infrared beam he aimed and fired a perfect line into the roofing of the Masonic Lodge. He then attached the gun to the back bumper of the hummer so that it held steady. The two then attached their pulleys to the stainless steel wire and one by one zipped across from the car park.

Once on top of the lodge, they quickly undid their harnesses and carefully traversed the roof until they found the skylight. Andrew carefully placed the glass cutter on the window. Attaching suction cups to hold it in place, he carefully cut a circle in the glass big enough for them to fit through. Before entering Sean used his headset to scan for heat signatures in the room. Then taking a small, thin, snake-like camera, he slowly lowered it into the hole and checked for CCTV. This then got relayed back to the computer in the Hummer so Adam could see what Sean was seeing.

“Two cameras in this room. Disable them Adam,” ordered Sean.

“Yes sir,” replied Adam, “You’re good to go.”

With the cameras now on a loop, they both lowered themselves through the hole and landed quietly in the office. Keeping the light off as not to arouse suspicion, they switched their head sets to night vision and worked in the dark. Cautiously positioning themselves in the centre of the room, Andrew took the laser cutter and drilled a tiny hole into the floor. Sean then weaved the snake camera into the hole and perused the surroundings of the vault via his headset.

“6 Cameras present Adam, you know what to do.”

  “Done Sir.” answered Adam

“Good. Now give me eyes into the corridor outside the vault please,” requested Sean. Adam hacked into the hallway cameras.

“5 guards as per usual sir.”

Sean addressed the whole team, “Ok Adam I need you to watch the patrolling guard for his next inspection of the vault. Once he completes it, this gives us a 30-minute window. We need to use it wisely. Adam, I need you to disable the security measures inside the vault and lock the door from outside entry. Whilst he does that Andrew I need you to drill the hole within 15 minutes. I will then go in and retrieve The Star of David. Once I have it, Jaime I need you to trigger those bombs. The commotion that will ensue will give us enough time to exit the building, zip line back across and meet you on the car park. Am I clear?”

“Affirmative sir,” they shouted in unison.

Patiently they sat and waited. Andrew was still nervous and Sean could sense it from the way he was heavy breathing. He put his hand on Andrews back and motioned to him to take slow deep breathes. The suspense was enough to drive any man insane but finally, Adam’s voice came over the headset.

“Sir the guard is entering the vault.”

Sean scoped through the snake camera to view the guard doing his routine check. He waited until the guard had left and locked the door. Adam set his clock to 30 minutes as soon as the door shut and begun hacking the security.

  “You can commence drilling A.R”

Andrew began to drill the hole precisely with the laser cutter again. 15 minutes had passed. Removing the flooring carefully, Sean made his way into the vault. Josh, Jaime and Adam watched on the monitors as Coach Stevens moved towards the stand the ring was placed on. Before removing the ring, he dabbed some anointed oil on the stand and said a prayer over it. This was to cover himself and t
he ring from any demonic force that was tethered to it. He didn’t want to make the same mistake he made in Jerusalem years ago.

With artefact in hand, Sean checked his watch.

22 minutes gone he thought to himself.

With a quickened step, he proceeded to climb back up the hole. Checking his watch one last time, a smile of reassurance crept across his face. Everything was going according to plan.

“Set off the charges Jaime,” ordered Sean.

“My pleasure sir,” replied Jaime as he clicked down on the remote detonator.

From within the room, Sean and Andrew could hear the resounding boom come from the blast several floors down. It sent a reverberating tremor through the building, slightly shaking the foundation. Panic then ensued and gripped the personnel therein.

Smoke detectors rang out throughout the building, followed by the sprinklers automatically turning on to combat the raging fire that the charges had produced.

Adam watched, via the hacked cameras, all the security staff running around in utter chaos amidst the spraying water and smoke, as they struggled to remain calm. Some were dealing with evacuating people present in the building, whilst others were cordoning off the area where the explosion had taken place. Every security guard was present in this one location. This meant no one was coming to check the vault and this gave Andrew and Sean enough time to climb back up the skylight window and onto the roof. They swiftly made their way back across to the car park where the rest of the team was waiting, to be greeted with joyous commendation.

“I’ve never felt so sick in my life,” said Jaime as he took a deep breath.

“Watching you two on the monitor gave me butterflies man!”

Coach Stevens laughed. “Good job everyone. Buckle up. The mission’s not over until we get out of here.” He started the car up and pulled away, making his way down the car park, level by level. As they got to the bottom, a sea of police vehicles and emergency service cars flew past them. Sean knew it would be too hot to drive away whilst there was such a heavy presence of authorities in the area. He stopped just by the exit of the multi-storey and waited until the coast was clear. Adam again activated the gate and they slowly cruised out of the car park and headed in the opposite direction of the Masonic Lodge.
