Jaime noticed too but was taken aback by the sight, “His eyes! You were telling the truth, Andrew.” Looking on through the window Josh and Adam couldn’t believe what they were seeing and were also astonished by the revelation.
Andrew nodded to his comrade and gave him instruction for the next step.
“Ok bro, we’ll need to subdue him so I can apply the anointed oil to his forehead. Once that’s done, I can draw Anak out, got it?”
Jaime gestured in agreement, “easier said than done but I got your back.”
The two boys took up a defensive position on the other side of the room.
Slowly Sean rose to his feet. Turning his head to face them his complexion had totally changed. He looked just as he did in the dream Andrew had. He smiled a wicked a smile to reveal jagged canine-like teeth.
“I see your powers of perception are maturing Andrew.” laughed Sean. Jaime was instantly thrown off by the voice that erupted from Sean’s mouth.
“How ironic aye? The vessel I now use to destroy you was the thing that destroyed me.”
“Anak, leave his body now or I will tear you from him myself.” Andrew spoke with authority, his stance steadfast.
Jaime looked on his friend in admiration;
Wow, I’ve never seen Andrew so serious.
He’s definitely changed since college days.
And now here we are fighting demons.
This is crazy but I have to stick by his side.
Together we can do this.
Feeling empowered Jaime stood ready next to his friend.
Sean let out a huge roar that shook the underground base at the foundation.
“I think I’ll give this human body a test drive first. Then once I’m done with killing your friends, I’m taking your soul and you will become Nephilim whether you like it or not. Or you can just die, either way, I’m not fussed.” He said nonchalantly.
Andrew looked at Jaime, “you ready?” Jaime nodded in agreement. Sean flung the table against the wall and charged at them. They fought hand to hand intricately, blocking and dodging, throwing kicks and punches at each other. With Anak inside him, Sean was faster and stronger than usual. Something Jaime noticed right off the bat as he absorbed a punch to the chest. However, because Sean was only human, his body sustained damaged as normal. They fought to a stalemate and stood across from each other. All 3 men were now sporting cuts and bruises but this did not deter them from engaging each other again. Andrew and Jaime tried to work together to get the upper hand but because Anak had control of Sean’s body he had control of his skills and Coach Stevens was a gifted combatant, as he could already attest to.
They needed a different approach if they were going to subdue Sean.
Then a thought dawned on Andrew. He turned to Jaime and placed his hand on his arm. Instantly Jaime’s psyche connected with Andrew’s. Looking at his friend Andrew began to speak to Jaime telepathically, “I need you to go and get the dart gun from the armoury.”
“No, I can’t leave you here,” said Jaime but Andrew remained adamant that it was the only way to defeat Sean.
“Go to the armoury get the dart gun and fill up the ammunition cartridges with this.” He placed a small vial of anointing oil in Jaime’s hand. “Now, go. I’ll distract him.” They both engaged Coach again but Jaime manoeuvred himself away and rolled towards the door. Sean could see he was up to something and advanced on his position but was met by Andrew, who stood between them. The door was locked but Josh saw what was occurring and unlocked it to let Jaime out.
“It’s just me and you now Annie.” teased Andrew.
“Don’t call me that,” screamed Anak.
He rushed at him and they fought furiously. Everything coach had taught him was coming into play as he fought to save his mentor. Momentarily gaining the upper hand, he pushed Sean back with a blow to the chest.
“I see he has trained you well boy. A shame it will all be for nothing”
Anak seemed to surface more and more. The skin on Sean’s face became even more wrinkled and began to crack. His fingernails grew in length, as Coach Stevens' appearance became more and more ghoulish.
“You’re right about one thing Anak, he did teach me well. Well, enough to defeat you and send you back to hell where you belong.” Andrew focused his resolve and his eyes began to brighten. “You’re not the only one who can transform Annie.” Andrew’s eyes were once again the magnificent, crystal, aqua blue and his skin appeared pristinely smooth with a slight glow emanating from his pores. Anak looked weary of this new form but remained pugnacious.
Meanwhile, Jaime frantically searched the armoury for the dart gun. Grabbing it he quickly found the cartridges and poured the anointing oil into 3, loading one into the gun. On his way out of the armoury, he grabbed a rope and hurried back to the interrogation cell, only to have his senses overwhelmed by the illuminating rays coming from Andrew’s body. The view caused him to pause in awe as he took in his best friend’s new form. But it only lasted a moment, as he quickly resumed his duties. Using the new found telepathic bond he had, he channelled through to Andrew, “A.R I have the dart gun loaded. Position Anak in front of the door, then give the signal to Josh, who will relay to me and ill slide the shutter open and fire the shot.” Jaime positioned himself behind the door, poised and ready to shoot.
Andrew acknowledged Jaime through the glass window and the two resumed their battle. Both men were now moving insanely fast and the force they were producing was superhuman in nature.
However, their human bodies could only take so much under the strain of such power.
Andrew knew he needed to end the fight as soon as possible. Engaging Sean one last time he clinched his opponent and held him in position, with his back facing the door. He nodded to Josh who shouted to Jaime, “NOW!”
Simultaneously Andrew kicked his mentor in the chest with all the power he could muster, sending coach back towards the door. The slider came open and Jaime fired a silent but deadly shot through the gap into the back of Sean.
Knowing the worst was over Andrew relaxed and the angelic ambience left his presence along with his eyes returning to normal. The dart to the back caused Sean to contort violently and he dropped to his knees. Holding his gut, he began to throw up rich black ooze which reeked of decay.
“What have you done,” screamed Anak as he tried to speak between vomiting.
Jaime unlocked the door and walked in. Sean’s face began to transform back to its original state. Standing next to his friend Jaime handed Andrew the rest of the anointed oil and then proceeded to tie up Sean. Now totally weakened and defenceless Andrew stood over his teacher and carried out the exorcism.
“In the name of the Father
The Son and the Holy Ghost
I deliver you from the hands of the Devil.”
Andrew applied the oil on the forehead of Sean
“Anak, I order you in the name of the Most High God
Leave this man and depart from him.”
Sean’s body began to shake uncontrollably as if he was having a fit. As he convulsed, the same black ooze began to pour out from every orifice of his body until it formed a dark pool of liquid on the floor. Sean fell motionless but was caught by Jaime.
“It’s not over yet,” said Andrew. The shadow-like slime began to bubble and move as if to try and find a new host, but he had already anticipated this and entrapped the sludge in a circle of holy water. Standing over Anak’s remains, Andrew poured the remainder of the anointing oil onto the puddle of blackness and set it alight. Jaime, Josh and Adam looked on in amazement as the screams of Anak could be heard echoing whilst he slowly burned away.
Exhausted Andrew leant against a wall and slowly rolled down until he was sitting on the floor. He took a deep breath and smiled at Jaime, who reciprocated. Adam and Josh quickly rushed in and helped both Andrew and Sean into the medical bay, where they would rest until the next day.
CHAPTER 13
Andrew awoke, eyes
facing the ceiling. Blinking slowly he struggled to sit up. Something he regretted instantly as the soreness in his muscles kicked in and he winced in pain. Looking around, his eyes were quickly met with the image of Coach Stevens. Slowly he got out of his bed and limped his way across the room. Checking on his vitals proved he was ok but Sean was still comatose and motionless. Andrew gripped his hand tightly.
“If you can hear me, sir, I’d say we’re one for one now with Anak,” he laughed. “I’m going to get the Star of David sir. I’ll be praying for you coach.”
Josh came walking round the corner and saw Andrew by Sean’s bedside.
“Hey guys he’s awake,” he shouted to the rest of the group. “How you feeling bro?”
Andrew looked at Sean then back at his friends. “I’ll be ok. Right now we have bigger things to talk about.”
“You still wanna go after the Star of David don’t you?” quizzed Jaime.
“We owe it to coach. If Anak was after it too then that must mean it’s very important and even more so, dangerous in the wrong hands,” said Andrew.
“What you wanna do then?” asked Josh.
“We’ll stick to the original plan laid out by Coach. It’s full proof. We leave tonight, eleven hundred hours.” Everyone agreed. Andrew stayed in the Medical bay and made his way into an oxygen tank to relieve his soreness. Whilst in there he relaxed and said a few prayers. Speaking to God in his alone time was something he found himself doing more and more. He always felt better after doing so. It was a habit that Coach encouraged him to get into, for the trials they would be facing would call for such actions.
After an hour or so in the oxygen tank Andrew emerged feeling refreshed and restored. Checking on Sean first, who was stable, he left the medical bay and found his friends gathered around the large screen TV.
“Nice to see you’re up and alive, sleeping beauty. I suggest you take a look at this,” said Adam as he raised the volume on the TV. All of them sat glued to the screen. The channel was set on the news. They were watching a press conference taking place at The Masonic Lodge in Windsor County. A man by the name of Leslie Eza had just invested millions of dollars into the Freemason site and would be overseeing the day to day operations of the building hence forth. His first course of action was to beef up the security to the building, effective immediately, as he was planning to open the vaults services to high paying clientele to secure their prized assets with cheaper costs than they would usually pay at a bank.
Adam scratched his chin. “Seems coincidental don’t you think?” he quizzed.
“How d’you mean?” asked Andrew.
“Well, it’s just funny how this guy has come out of nowhere, with all this money and power and suddenly wants to open the vaults of one of the most prestigious member’s only clubs in the world to the public and then increases the security. Something isn’t right. It’s as if they knew we were coming,” speculated Adam.
Andrew pondered over his accusations, “Hmmm. But how is that even possible? There is no way they would know we were coming.”
“Anak told them.”
Everyone turned around as the rough, haggered, husky voice caught their attention. Coach was stood leaning against the wall, still weak but able to walk. The 4 friends rushed to his side.
“Coach! Are you ok?” asked Andrew embracing him.
“I’ll be better once you loosen up on me kid,” laughed Sean as he was still tender from his ordeal. Andrew released his hug and Coach thanked them all for what they did for him, “You made me proud boys.”
Coach hobbled over to the sofa and watched the news for himself. The boys followed him, waiting to hear his thoughts on the matter. He muted the television.
“Boys, when you kill a demon it doesn’t actually die. It just returns back to Hell.” He turned to Andrew, “I and you father encountered many of the same demons over and over on our travels. Only special weaponry can actually destroy a demon entirely. I can assume the first time I encountered Anak, in a last ditch effort to get closer to Andrew he possessed me. Not knowing I was possessed I carried on with my research into the Star of David, unbeknownst to me that Anak was receiving the same information. Defeating him again may have sent him back to hell, but this time he had all the knowledge of our plans.
Something tells me this Leslie character is either a higher level demon or a dark magic user of some kind. He’s clearly onto us and has been sent to defend the Star of David. We will have to change our approach.” explained Sean
“We?” quizzed Andrew. “With all due respect sir, you are in no fit state right now to take anyone one, let alone a demon.”
Coach Stevens laughed, “You’re probably right. But I can’t just sit here and do nothing. Unless we think of a new plan, you will be walking into an ambush.”
“So what now then?” questioned Jaime
Adam butted in, “I may have a plan, guys.” Everyone remained quiet to listen. Adam explained that they would need to infiltrate the building once again.
Posing as tourists, they would make their way inside and check the building for any changes or improvements in security. Taking pictures in strategic places, they could then use any new information and create a new plan.
“Sounds full proof but there’s one problem,” remarked Sean.
“This, Leslie Eza. If he is what I think he is then he will know Andrew is in the building. Demons can sense Angelic spirits and vice versa. In order for this to work Andrew, you will have to stay here with me. We can’t take any chances and your aura will only alert him to our presence. The rest of you will set off once I give the go ahead.”
That night whilst everyone slept, Andrew lay awake studying his bible. Coach had spent most of the evening inside the oxygen tank recovering and finally emerged from containment. He made his way to his office. Being very meticulous in nature the broken cabinet immediately caught his eye. He carefully examined it and noticed the Armatura Dei was missing.
“Looking for this sir?” questioned Andrew, handing him the box containing the 6 rings.
“With what’s gone on, I should have known they’d be in your possession,” said Sean.
“Just a safety precaution I guess. If things got out of hand, it would have come in handy,” explained Andrew.
Sean gestured for him to take a seat as he put the box back inside the cabinet. He then joined him at the desk. “You owe me a new cabinet.” They both laughed.
“What, what was it like sir? To be…ya know?” quizzed Andrew.
“Possessed?” interrupted Sean.
“I don’t really know how to explain it. I felt fine up until I was in the cell. Then I began to hear this strange voice in my head. Gradually it felt like I was losing control of my own thoughts, then my own body. Once he took over, the only way I can describe it is, being in a room and being able to see and view everything that’s going on but being helpless to stop any of it. I was trapped in my own existence.”
Andrew didn’t know what to say. “I’m sorry Coach.”
“Sorry? For what? If it wasn’t for you I’d still be under Anak’s control. You did a good job. You all did. You guys really showed me that you were worth every second of my time. I am grateful to have you, boys. You’ve exceeded even my own expectations.” said Sean.
“Well we learnt from the best sir,” smiled Andrew.
“I see your powers are evolving again,” said Sean.
Andrew remained modest, “I wouldn’t call it an evolution Coach, just a lucky dream I guess.”
“Nothing lucky about it son. Remember what I said about angels sensing demons and vice versa? It seems you haven’t fully grasped the ability yet but nonetheless, that dream you had was a way of your spirit telling you there was a demon nearby. Even if your body couldn’t sense Anak, your spirit did. You’re getting stronger Andy and so is your faith, it’s good to see,” explained Sean.
The two sat and spoke for hours. Sean had become somewhat of a father figure to Andrew in the time he ha
d spent with him. His support and encouragement is what drove Andrew to keep going. He looked up to him and wanted to be the best he could be. During their conversation, Sean opened up to Andrew on his past life and experiences. Recounting tales of missions and operations he undertook when he was Andrew’s age. Hearing these stories really inspired Andrew. He was determined to be the protégé Coach was looking for.
A few days passed and things proceeded as usual; breakfast, training, etc. The alarm went off and the boys made their way to the meeting room to be briefed. The only difference was that Andrew was giving the orders this time, as Coach sat back and observed.
“Ok guys, this is how it’s gonna go down today. From what I and coach have gathered from the Windsor Lodge website, there is a tour of the entire building open to the public every hour and a half. You will split up into teams of two. Jaime, you are team one.” He handed Jaime a printed confirmation for his ticket. Sean then handed him and Josh a pair of customised glasses. Andrew explained that the glasses had a built-in camera that could be activated remotely from the base.
“Once you are inside and part of a tour party, I will need you to strategically take footage of the current layout of the 9th floor. After that head to the level above and do exactly the same. Once complete, finish the tour and then leave. Adam and Josh, you will be undertaking a different mission entirely. Ads, I need you to pose as a potential buyer, someone who is interested in the vaults safe keeping properties. Josh, you will act as his bodyguard” instructed Andrew.
Adam looked puzzled, “Ok, well that’s fine but what am I putting into the vault?” He asked.
Coach placed a case on the table. It was quite heavy in weight and had multiple locks on it. Opening it Adam couldn’t believe what he was seeing. “Errrm, OK. Where did you acquire these from?”
Turning the suitcase towards the rest of his team, Adam revealed the 5 thick, shining bars of 18k gold neatly placed inside the case.
