“What on earth is she—”
James took the book from her and tossed it into a corner. “Never mind that book. Pay attention to me. I’m your husband.”
“But James—”
“Helena.” The authoritarian thread in his voice made her stop talking. Finally. “You really must be more obedient.”
“Obedient?” A particular…tension tightened her features.
He loved that she knew, she just knew where this was heading. And she gloried in it. “Clearly it has been far too long since your last spanking.”

James frowned. Was she still talking about Edward?

There. There was the proper answer. He loved that she was so easily convinced. His hand fell again and again and she squealed, sighed.
“We shall name him Edward.”
James’ nostrils flared. Over my dead body, he thought, and diligently applied himself to the task of showing her the error in her thinking.
