Meruke sucked in the skin of her shoulder and bit down. The impression of his teeth registered as a bit of pain. “The hunger. For me. For blood. To be one.”

He slipped his hand between her legs and massaged her clit in languorous circles. She threw her head back and shrieked. Savanna couldn’t process any more, but what she was left with was a hunger she couldn’t describe. It was primal, and it had to be sated. “Yes.”

Once she said that Meruke moved between her legs and thrust his cock into her. He wrapped her arms around his neck so their gazes were locked and helped her to sit up. He pushed into her, and Savanna felt as though the world was semi-complete. The fire within moved along her limbs, and nothing else mattered except him being inside of her. Them moving together and becoming one. Savanna felt the barriers in his mind that separated her from Drake crumbling away. Their minds merged together on a deeper level than she had ever felt before. Savanna pressed her lips to Meruke’s and felt his tongue slip into her mouth. She met his and deepened the kiss, feeling his sharp teeth. As she ran her tongue over them, he pumped into her faster. All of his control was slipping, and they were both coming together and the barriers between them were fading away.

He broke the kiss and moved around her shoulder blade where he had been before. She held onto him and felt Drake’s personality within Meruke’s mind. It was a strange sensation, as two different people were within him and she could see where the tear was. But as she got lost in their passion and the rising orgasm it was something that fell away.

“Will you be my mate?” Meruke panted in her ear, but she also heard another voice in her mind. “Will you be our mate?” This was from Drake.

“Yes,” she said to both of them. Once the words left her lips, Meruke rammed into her. The orgasm hit the both of them and she felt the pain in her shoulder as he bit down on her flesh. Savanna cried out and she heard a scream within her mind and felt something slam together at the same time. She dug her nails into his nape and shrieked in pleasure. Meruke met her lips, and she tasted blood. Her lover bit on her bottom lip and pressed his forehead against hers as he panted.

“Bite me,” he said to her.

  “I-I can’t do that. I can’t...”

“It completes the ritual. You said you trusted me. Just feel.” Meruke dove into her again, and she tried to stay grounded to him, but the longer he moved within her the more she couldn’t help but give into the primal instinct that had awoken in her.

Savanna licked her lips, and as she did, she realized her teeth were sharper. Before she could question what was going on, Meruke gently applied pressure to her head and guided her to his shoulder. She hesitated, but he pumped into her once more. A deep groan came out of her, and to stifle her pleasure, she bit into the meat of his shoulder until she tasted blood. Once the coppery liquid hit her throat she swallowed it. Meruke groaned one last time, and all things seemed to snap into place. He ran his tongue over her wound and lapped at it. Savanna did the same thing until she was able to catch her breath and realized what she was doing.

Once that happened, she pulled away and stared at Meruke. “What happened just now?” Savanna touched her face and panic rose within her. Her features were not the ones she remembered. They were more angular than what they were before. Her bones had shifted. Her flesh seemed a little harder, and her teeth were sharper. “What.”

Meruke grabbed her hands. “Sshh...hush, love. It means the mating was successful. Calm yourself and think about being as you were before. Close your eyes.”

Savanna did what he told her and thought about being normal, about her face and all of her features becoming what they were before. This time she felt the bones in her face realigning. She breathed and relaxed as Meruke held her. When she felt normal once more, she gazed at him. “What happened?”

“The mate bond, it gives you a little bit of me. You share my fire and a little bit of my ability to shift, and you share my longevity. Some of my other attributes, too.”

“I can’t become a dragon, though.” Savanna touched the bite on his shoulder and almost found it hard that she had done that.

He moved a strand of hair from her forehead. “No. You’re human.”

“What do you get from me?”

“Love. Companionship. Serenity. Wholeness. And so much more I can’t even speak about. The one thing you did is bring me back together. I can feel it. Can’t you?”

  Savanna nodded. “I can.”

He drew her into his arms in a long hug. Savanna was home. She had nothing to go back to, but she had found it there with him and Wyeth. As she stretched out her mind along the newly strengthened thread between the three of them, she could feel them all linked together, and yet with Wyeth something was missing.

  “You’re thinking about Wyeth.”

“Yes. He’s part of this, and yet...”

“We have to do the same thing with him, or well, you do. I’ve shared his blood through the bond we already share. I would say you need to bite him and taste him. Is that something you want to do tonight? Or do I get you all to myself?”

“All to yourself. That was what you wished for.” Savanna smiled.

He walked his fingers over her stomach. “And to think I was such a fool. You are the most beautiful, powerful, woman I have ever met.”

She blushed at his comments. “Thank you.”

His brows scrunched together. “You don’t believe me.” He tickled her along her fourth left rib until she squirmed and squealed with laughter.

“Stop,” she entreated him breathlessly. “Uncle.”

Meruke stopped tickling her. “Tell me why you don’t believe me.”

  She shrugged. “I’m not powerful.”

He leaned up on his elbow and looked at her with an earnest expression. “You brought us back here. Only you could have said the spell to open the portal.”

“I’m sure that anyone could have—”

“No. Not just any one. Only a powerful spellcaster could have.” He touched her heart again. “The power is in here. All you need to do is find a way to unleash it. Trust me. I know magic. After returning, the magic has reawakened within me. I know that kind of power and the things it can do. I feel it burning within you as it does within me. It’s separate from the dragon fire. It comes from within. And it’s within you. Believe me.”

  “Yes.”

“Good.” He kissed her once more and trailed his fingers between her legs. He rubbed her clit slowly, and Savanna lost herself to the pleasure that flared through her. “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” she replied and focused on the bliss that took her away.

  Chapter Twenty-One

Wyeth knocked on the door, but he didn’t hear anyone say to come in. He had been drawn upstairs from the library because he awoke and felt something had changed. The dynamic of the link he shared with Drake wasn’t so thin anymore. When he walked in, Drake and Savanna were in bed together. Her hair was tousled and she had never looked more beautiful. His cock hardened. The sheet was draped over her chest exposing one of her breasts. He couldn’t resist bending over, taking it in his mouth, and sucking on it. Her skin had a different flavor today, a smoky tang. Savanna groaned and opened her eyes. As she stirred so did Drake.

  “Wyeth.”

“Sorry. I couldn’t help it,” he said and kissed her cheek.

Drake reached out his hand. “Join us.”

His eyes widened. “Are you sure about that? Drake, you said...”

“Not Drake. Not anymore. Meruke. Always and forever. Savanna helped put me back together. She was right. We’re not complete without you.”

“Savanna?” Wyeth looked to her for her approval.

“Come to me,” She beckoned him. He quickly undressed and slipped in next to Savanna. Feeling her warm body firmed his cock so much all he needed was to slip inside of her. It seemed that she read his mind. Wyeth shivered when she touched him. Being this close to her, his body was electrified. Savanna didn’t waste
any time. She ran her fingers down his length and slipped it inside of her. He gripped her hips. Their coupling started out slow, but it increased as she led their joining. Meruke touched his hand and Wyeth felt his mind wrap around his and pull them all together.

“Fuck,” he cried. When he looked at Savanna her face had shifted so that it was more reptilian. Her cheekbones were pointier. Her nose had flattened and her pupils had become slitted diamonds. It didn’t scare him, but left him with more questions. When he kissed her, he felt her teeth were sharper. He locked his gaze with the dragon and felt his pleasure mounting too. His face had shifted some, too. The combined bliss of their coupling filled his mind.

“Will you be my mate?” Savanna’s voice whispered in his mind.

“And mine,” Meruke followed. “To share everything as one.”

  “Yes,” he cried out.

He felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and the fire of their coupling raced through him. It seemed the world had exploded around him. The bones in his face shifted, but it didn’t dismay him. He pushed into Savanna once last time and the world exploded within him.

Afterward, Savanna lay between, and for the first time in Wyeth’s life he felt in a place where he was accepted. Savanna was asleep and seemed content. He glanced over at Meruke.

  “You’re okay with all this?”

“Of course I am. Can’t you tell?” Meruke asked.

Wyeth searched his mind, and he did feel everything was calm between them. “Yeah. It’s just strange to feel that. And you’re one again. If I think about it, I can feel her and I can feel you, too. I can feel the magic and...” He lifted his hand and it was engulfed in fire. He could summon Meruke’s fire and then he extinguished it. It didn’t hurt, but he was surprised that it could be something he could touch. “Your fire.”

“It feels different than the bond I had with you before?”

“Yes. And you’re calmer, but I have to say this. If you ever hurt her again, I’ll kill you.”

“You can try. But you won’t have to. I’m never going to cause her pain again. I’m going to make sure that she’s the most important thing in the world. We have to take care of her now. While I appreciate you, I don’t love you as I love her. We are equals in loving her. We are companions. I’m not sure there is a word for what we share.”

  “Agreed.”

“Good. Now get some sleep. We’ll talk more in the morning about how we go from here.”

Wyeth nodded and settled closer to Savanna knowing that they were all finally in this together.

  * * * *

Savanna sat in the library with Kestrel and leafed through one of the basic books on spellcasting she had. It was written in an older version of English, but she could read and understand it. Ever since the three of them had completed the mating ritual, things between them had been glorious. She couldn’t describe the feeling of love, acceptance, and power that flowed through her at all times.

Ralag offered Meruke the role as advisor to the king because he wanted to retire. He had enough experience ruling that he could give the advice that would be needed as he learned what had happened in all the years that he had been away. Wyeth had been appointed as the court engineer and was helping the villagers around the mountain and those that had requested help to rebuild. He seemed satisfied, and he brought more innovative ideas to the people. She was glad that he had found something to do that was in his wheelhouse. They had mended their conflicts, and she was bathed in love from both. Of the three of them, she struggled to find her way. Kestrel and she had become fast friends.

“Do you think you want to try this one?” Kestrel asked and rubbed her back.

Savanna didn’t understand how the woman could be comfortable in her pregnancy, but she didn’t complain and Andrik doted on her. The love she saw between the two used to make her envious, but now she had that with Meruke and Wyeth.

“I can try them from now and until kingdom come, but it’s not going to work,” Savanna sighed. It didn’t matter how many times Kestrel and even Meruke said there was a great light inside of her, a great power, she wasn’t able to tap into it.

Kestrel patted her hand. “You just have to figure out the right one that unlocks your power. Your abilities are unbelievable, but the magic inside of you has to be unlocked.”

Savanna closed her eyes and cleared her mind. “Do you know what I’m doing wrong, or can you give me any insight? If this is what I’m supposed to do, then come on. I know you think this is funny.”

She heard a little bit of laughter from her guides. “You’re going about this all wrong. You are trying to do the spell their way, when you have to do it your way.”

She thought about what they had said. It was true. She had always said the words and waited for something to happen, but nothing did. Savanna opened her eyes and looked at the simple incantation. The spell was used to summon a sphere of water, pulling the molecules out of the air. She relaxed and let her mind go as though she was doing a reading. Instead of trying to use the spell as it was written she went with her instincts.

“Water from air, become a sphere.” Savanna held out her hand. The air tingled around her and glistened with small water droplets. They hung in the air and soon formed into a small ball that grew bigger until it was the size of a grapefruit. The pull of the spell on her mind gave her a small headache, as she concentrated, but she was holding onto it.

“You did it. The spell is worded differently, but you did it. I can sense the magic you’re using. The power is strange, but you’re doing it. Now you have to release it.”

  “Savanna, are you in here?”

She jumped and flicked her hand. The sphere flew in the direction of the voice. At the same time Wyeth came into view the ball hit him in the face and soaked him. Kestrel burst out laughing, and she did too. He used his shirt to wipe the water from his face and pushed his wet hair of his face.

  “Sorry.”

“What the hell was that?” Wyeth asked.

  “A spell gone awry.”

His eyes lit up. “You were able to do magic?”

She nodded. “I did. I think I might have it figured out.”

Her mate wrapped her in his arms and hugged her close. “That’s wonderful. Wait until we tell Meruke.”

“Tell me what?” Meruke called as he walked into the library. “Why are you wet?”

“That would be my fault,” Savanna admitted.

He looked between Wyeth and her. “Magic?”

  “Yeah.”

“I think she’s got it. We just have to work out the kinks,” Kestrel answered.

Meruke grabbed her and spun her around before kissing her. “I knew you could do it.”

She giggled and felt the warmth of both of her lovers flow through her. Knowing she had them with her through thick and thin and everything they had gone through only made their experiences even greater. There were times when she missed the things from her world, and there were things that she had been able to show them that brought a little bit of home, like recipes and tailored clothes that she wanted to wear, and not just dresses.

However, the most important was that she had the love of the two men who adored her. They were all together now. All their wounds had been mended and they were bonded on a level Savanna couldn’t even fathom. The future loomed ahead of them, and they would always be with her.
