  Macario’s Salvation

Macario Aston would love a holiday, one that took him far from his overprotective, interfering family. He loved them, truly he did, but they wouldn’t accept what was happening.

Whereas Mac had accepted. He was ill. Now he just wanted to get on with living while he had time left, and he wanted his family to face the truth.

So Mac was going to enjoy himself by indulging in the things he liked. A holiday would be good, dining out, and massages. Mac loved a good massage. And maybe he’d tell the fae where to stick their training accounts.

The moment masseuse Fale Taucher saw Macario Aston, he knew he’d found his mate. Unfortunately, Fale hadn’t a clue how to let the man know! When Aston security caught him hanging around, it gave him the chance to tell Mac, but convincing the man to let Fale claim and bond them may take more time than his human had left.

  Chapter One

Massages were one of Mac’s little indulgences. If he could, he’d have them daily, maybe even one in the morning, one in the afternoon, and then another as an after dinner treat.

The idea made him smile knowing just how his family would react. Layke, his eldest brother, would insist Mac was suffering from a motor or muscle condition and set up one painful test after another. Layke was a bit off at times. Lacy, Layke’s twin, was the sensible, smothering mother type. She would analyze everything Mac did then say he probably had a kink.

Yeah, his kink was liking massages. Massive eye roll.

The rest of the siblings would all have something to say, no doubt, either to tease Mac or just wanting to join in and put forward their opinions.

Having so many siblings may actually have been the reason Mac needed so many massages. Dealing with them on a daily basis was enough to turn his reddish hair white and send him scurrying to a therapist’s sofa for the next hundred-odd years. Fortunately, he wouldn’t be tortured that long.

Macario was from a long line of immortal creatures, but he was actually human with only a strand of paranormal DNA, lion shifter. He wasn’t able to shift, but the strand provided Mac with slower aging, slightly enhanced strength and agility, and better health than most humans. Still, it wasn’t enough to stop time. At forty-one years of age, Macario was middle aged though he looked to be in his early thirties. He was finding it difficult to be around his family at times as each, and every one of them was an immortal creature with the appearance of a twenty-two to twenty-four year old.

The differences between them were becoming evident. Lacy, being the mothering alpha, had begun searching for Mac’s fated mate in the hopes the person was an immortal creature able to keep Mac alive. Layke suggested a wizard potion to slow down Mac’s aging, but not out of concern for Mac. Nope, Layke wanted a guinea pig for his potion experiments.

Vicus, River, Vinn, and Eber had become jailers. Mac had always lived with security dogging his every move and monitoring him everywhere, it was to be expected, he was an Aston and had an Avenger for a brother, as well as a very rare demon, a gargoyle prince, and a very powerful witch and wizard, so he understood the necessity. But his siblings had become so difficult. Lately, they were even refusing to let him out half the time!

It was driving Macario crazy. Just because he’d mentioned wanting to live like a human a dozen or so times was no reason to act like he was about to take off and do something stupid. For one, Mac wasn’t a risk taker. Okay, he may be a bit of a risk taker occasionally. He liked drag racing and rock climbing, dirt bike riding, and traveling. But he was careful when it came to his safety and Renegades.

Mac lifted his head to see the masseuse enter the room. This masseuse was new, only here a month, but Mac had heard good reviews. As Mac enjoyed his massages, a lot, and may have hooked up with a few of the masseuses which were causing a few repercussions, he thought he’d try the new guy.

“Hello, my name is Fale. I will be your masseuse today, Mr. Aston.” The masseuse closed the door and turned to Mac, smiling.

“Hi.” Mac smiled and stretched. “I’m in dire need here. Did they tell you I pulled my shoulder yesterday? I made a point of telling the receptionist when I booked so if you could concentrate on that area, and my legs and feet, that’d be great.”

Masseuse Fale’s features flushed under his dusky complexion and warm brown eyes blinked a few times. Mac waited but the young paranormal, Mac would have to say no more than twenty-one, just stood there. After a full minute, Mac smiled slowly. He’d seen Jayce do this. His brother just stopping in the middle of doing something, or nothing, caught up in his own thoughts. It was kind of cute on this guy, not so much Jayce.

  Clear
ing his throat, Mac gave a big, friendly smile. Fale blushed, whispering an apology and quickly began buzzing about the room asking what type of massage Mac would like, whether he liked deep tissue, or relaxing, what oils, music, and what scents. Macario cheerfully answered all the questions, yet wondered why he was being asked. All his preferences were already in his file, and the masseuses checked client’s details before giving a massage.

Fale was new though. Usually, Mac preferred female masseuse’s, he tended to enjoy females more than males, possibly because he had a lot of bossy, noisy brothers and only one alpha sister, or maybe it was because Mac enjoyed the feminine scent and though he was bi, he mostly chose women over men.

This guy smelt amazing. Mac wondered what cologne the man wore. Actually, everything about Fale interested Mac, and when he did choose to spend time with a man, Fale was definitely the type he went for. Except for being young. Mac liked his men, and women, older. He didn’t care about experience or their backgrounds, the job they did, or the job they didn’t have. He was in his early forties and felt the age difference with someone in their twenties was too much.

He groaned in delight as his sore shoulder was applied with just the right amount of pressure.

“Sorry!” Fale exclaimed, jerking his hands away.

“No, no, that was a good moan.” Mac practically begged. “You got just the right spot with the exact amount of pressure. Please, don’t stop.”

“Ah, right, okay, sorry about that.”

Thankfully the masseuse got back to massaging, much to Mac’s relief. He’d just try to keep his moans and groans of bliss to himself so as not to startle the jumpy guy again.

Half an hour into the massage, Mac was so relaxed he was nearly asleep when for the first time since the massage began Fale spoke. Mac was sort of sorry for the interruption, he liked quiet when having a massage, but strangely enough, he liked the guy’s voice.

Mac really liked the sound of Fale’s voice. His dick had been semi aroused from the man’s touch though he’d been half asleep, which generally never happened during a massage these days as he wasn’t a randy youngster. And with his health the way it was, it’d been a long time since he even managed to get aroused. But now, at the sound of Fale’s voice, his cock ached a bit. It was a pleasant ache, not “I need to get off right this damn minute” ache.

“Have you been in Milson City long?” Fale worked Mac’s right calf muscle, the one that always pulled up sore after a workout.

“Yeah, twenty-one years. You new here?”

  “Wow, twenty-one years! That’s how long I’ve been alive…err, I mean—”

Mac laughed softly. “I thought you looked young. Twenty-one, hey.”

“Yes, but I have lots of massaging experience, I’m qualified and was the best in my class,” Fale hurried to assure.

“I can tell, you’re doing a great job of finding all my knots and sorting them out. How long have you been here?”

“I started three weeks ago with the City Day Spa.” Fale’s hand drifted to Mac’s feet. “I joined Prince Caspar’s guild a month ago. He’s an excellent guild leader and Second Visij is very helpful to new members. I’m still getting used to having other creatures around all the time, we didn’t mingle very much in my birth guild.”

Ah, Fale was a fae. Prince Caspar Morgan led one of the largest fae guilds in the world and had moved his group to Milson Valley a few months ago as there was more space here. The guild had joined the Alliance that worked together to protect the city and surrounding valley.

“No? You have a slight accent. Where are you from?”

  “I’m French Polynesian from Tahiti.”

Mac frowned. “What are you doing in Milson City if you’re from paradise?”

“Tahiti’s great, I love it, but I wanted to get out and see the world.”

  “I hear ya.” Mac sighed.

Fale was silent as he finished one foot and moved to the next. “Y-you don’t like it here?”

“Don’t get me wrong, Milson City is great in a lot of ways, but like you, I want to get out and see the world, live a little. I’m human, half my life is already over, time to do something different. You’ve got the right idea. You can always go back to Tahiti and your birth guild, but you took the chance and left, wanted to explore and experience new and different things. There’s nothing wrong with that, everyone should be free to do what they want, not be told their ideas are ridiculous and—” Mac stopped abruptly, flushing.

He could rant about that all day until he ended up tranquilized by his eldest brother Layke and still it wouldn’t do him any good. He’d been saying for years he wanted, no, needed to move out of the family Estate and get his own place—in Hawaii, thousands of miles from his oversized, overprotective, quirky, jailer family.

Damn, they were annoying him, always monitoring everything he did, acting like he couldn’t take care of himself and shouldn’t be out of their sight ever. And what really irritated Mac was that they all felt their beliefs were more valuable than his, more important, and he was just being foolish and would snap out of it, not realizing that they were all different, not just species, but mentally and ideal wise.

He sighed. He was just frustrated at the moment that was all. He would miss his noisy family if he actually did leave.

They were worried about him, he understood that, and loved them for it. It was because they were all different. While they all shared the same father, only four of his siblings had the same mother. Mac’s mother was human, his father an immortal lion shifter. It was the luck of the draw and in this case, Mac ended up human, while the rest of his family were all paranormals.

“Where would you go if you had the choice?” Fale asked hesitantly, quietly.

“Hawaii. It’s always fascinated me for some reason and considering the sun, and I often disagree on how long I should be out in it, the fascination doesn’t seem all that logical. I’m a red head with fair skin that’s easily burned.” Mac laughed. “Why did you choose Milson City?”

“Oh, well, it was more which fae guild would accept me. Fortunately, Prince Caspar did. He was my first choice.”

“So Fae can’t just move between guilds? I know vamps have to apply and gargoyles tend to stick to their birth domains, are fae more difficult?”

Strangely enough, Mac was interested to know. The fae guild had only recently moved to Milson City, so he didn’t know a lot about their procedures and ways and before that had little to do with the creatures.

“Umm…some can be a bit strict. As I’m not at the full age of acquiring my gifts, they class me as a learner and in need of teaching, training and protecting…so not a very productive member and a bit of a drain—”

“Hey.” Mac didn’t even think about it, just reacted.

Maybe it was the quiet way the masseuse said it, hesitated and thinking he’d be ridiculed or agreed with, but Mac found himself not liking the beautiful fae putting himself down and acting like that was okay. So he reacted, sitting up, swiftly adjusting the sheet over his semi erect crotch and gave one of his classic, easy-going cheeky smiles.

Fale really was attractive. A few inches shorter than Mac’s own six foot, and more slender, Fale had impish features, large dark eyes, dark, wavy hair down to his shoulders, and a dark dusky complexion.

“Who cares what those stuffy old fae think. I know Prince Cas is a good guy, and besides, you don’t need them and their opinion, you’ve got a talent already.” He winked. “Best massage I’ve ever had.”

  * * * *

Fale stared at the hottest human he’d ever had the chance to get his hands on in confusion, shock, and with a fair amount of lust.

Was he flirting with Fale? Or was he just being nice to the young, naïve masseuse? Not having much experience with flirting, he was confused and worried that he’d mess up and not only embarrass himself, but alienate the hot human at the same time. That he so didn’t want to do! In fact, what he wanted was to keep touching and listening to th
ose little moans and groans of bliss that escaped obviously despite the human trying to keep them quiet since the first time Fale reacted like a dweeb and embarrassed himself.

  “T-thanks, Mr. Aston.”

Still smiling, the hot human laid back down. “Call me Mac.”

“Oh, okay, thank you. Umm, I should begin on your front, Mr.—I mean, Mac.”

Oh Lord yes, let them start on the hot human’s front! With bright red hair that was a trendy mess, little crinkles at the corners of his clear blue eyes and around his mouth—such a sexy, kissable mouth—the few subtle freckles over his cheeks and long, fit body, it was distracting. Fale was having trouble concentrating on what he should be doing and not what he wanted to do.

  Which was jump the guy.

Unfortunately, he didn’t think that would go down too well, not with Mac, and not with his boss and the guild. Then again, he may have a legitimate reason to do so, the guy was after all the hottest human Fale had ever seen. And…no, no, he just wasn’t sure this was the right thing to do, and by the sound of it, Mac had his future planned out and that included leaving Milson City.

Fale very much wanted to remain here with Prince Caspar’s guild where freedoms he had never known existed. Prince Caspar was said to be leading the way with the guilds and had lots of applications with his assistants from fae wanting to join his group.

Why Fale was chosen, he hadn’t a clue, but he wasn’t going to blow it, hopefully. With Mac lying down again on his back, Fale returned to massaging, enjoying hearing those little groans and feel of male skin with toned muscles. Whatever Mac did, the guy stayed in shape. Sure, Fale could see a little aging that humans had as they grew older, like around Mac’s eyes there were thin smile lines and on his hands a few wrinkles, but man, the human was still scorching hot, and funnily enough, Fale had always been attracted to older men.
