“Then why did you?”
Rome sighed. “Kurt would've kicked my ass if he knew how I really felt about his little sister.”
“Oh.” Kate sat up abruptly. “So to save your ass and not get into a fight with Kurt, prevented you from treating me like a person? That's lame, even for you Rome.”
“No, it's the truth.” He gently ran his fingertips over her cheek. “Kurt had forewarned me years ago not to touch you. You were off limits.”
“He said that!” Kate grew agitated. “I can't believe he'd say that.”
“He did,” Rome uttered. “But against my better judgment, I couldn't stay away. The way you’ve taunted me all these years.”
“Me?” She fluttered her eyelashes innocently, placing her hand on her chest.
“Yes, you.” he laughed. “The way you swagger your ass in front of me all the time and that time you came out of the bathroom wearing only a towel. Barely enough material to cover an and let alone your voluptuous body.”
Laughing, Kate blushed. “I did do that, didn't I? I was pretty blatant.”
“Yes, you were.” Rome leaned over, taking her lips with his and hungrily tasted her. “So, am I forgiven for treating you unfairly?”
“In due time…” Kate repeated his words from earlier. “In due time…”
She covered his mouth with hers and as the kiss deepened, Rome pulled away.
“What?”
“Who's going to tell Kurt?”
“You, of course. You'll have to protect my honor and all that.” She smiled mischievously. “Then when he kicks your ass for violating his little sister, I'll kick his ass for making us wait for so long.”
“Sounds perfect,” Rome replied, capturing her lips with his.
