Don't Let Me Be Yours Page 22

by Kimberly Reese

“Thank you for becoming my husband, husband,” she quips back, her words heartfelt. “I never thought I’d say this, but I’m glad Rachel was in our lives because we never would have met otherwise.”

I grunt at the mention of my ex. Last we heard, she was living a quiet life with her child and Paulson, ex-assistant to her father. The child turned out to be his, and we still aren’t sure if he stuck around out of love for Rachel and his baby or out of fear of what Walter would do if he left them high and dry. High society hasn’t been very forgiving, and her father cut her allowance in half after her failed machinations. They live comfortably, but she’ll never reach the top of the pinnacle like she hoped.

“That was the only thing she was good for. Now, let’s move to a much more interesting topic,” I suggest. I’m determined to make certain Perrie reaches her own pinnacle a few times before we head back to polite company.

  “Like what?”

  “Like what’s under this dress.”

Perrie tosses her head back on a joyous laugh, and I take the opportunity to place open-mouthed, sucking kisses all along her neck. Within no time she’s writhing against me, eager and willing, and we fervently fumble amid laughter and more heated kisses to move her dress up and over her hips. Come to find out, she’s not wearing any panties, which only serves to make me harder than ever. Once I’m free of the confines of my pants, her wet heat sinks onto me bare, and I bury my face against her chest as we both groan in ecstasy.

“I love you, Sterling,” she pants as she rides me slowly, her body sucking mine in tightly.

“And I love you, Perrie.” I stare up at her and maintain eye contact when I say the words, and she clenches around me when she feels the full force of my love for her in my expression and in the pumping of my hips as I piston into her from below.

We come together in a shaky, satisfied tangle of limbs and tender kisses.

“Thank you,” I whisper against her heated skin. “For being my lover, my best friend, and now, my wife.”

I can feel her smile without having to see it for myself. “I finally delivered on my promise to you from forever ago.”

It takes a moment to realize what she’s referring to, but I ask her anyway. “And what promise was that?”

Her voice is confident and sassy. “To give you the best night of your life. I think it’s safe to say today is that day.”

“Hmm, I think it’s a little early to say that.”

It takes effort to keep a straight face when indignation causes her deep brown eyes to flare and smolder at me in warning. “And why the hell is that?” she demands with a light slap to my chest.

I fucking love when she’s feisty, and it causes my still-buried cock to stir to life again inside her. Her eyes widen and her lips pop open in a sexy O when she feels me, her question temporarily forgotten.

With a lustful grin full of dirty promises, I proclaim, “Because it’s about to get even better.”

And it does. Not just for the rest of tonight, but each and every day after.

As always, I’m incredibly blessed to have the support system that I do, and without you, these books wouldn’t be possible.

Kimberly Reese — Writing this book with you has been the highlight of this crazy writing journey, hands down. We’re polar opposites when it comes to writing, but you get me, and this whole experience has made me appreciate you even more. I know we joke about you being crazy and me being psycho, but it comes from a good place, and I’m seriously so thankful to have you in my life. I’ll take your crazy any day. Thank you for being such a good friend to me.

Family — Thank you for your never ending support of my writing. Even if I insist that this be the one book of mine you never read, your support means a lot.

Edna — You’re my best friend, and I love you always.

Dom’s Reading Daisies — Your support never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for sharing your stories with me and for letting me share mine with you. You’re the strongest group of people, and I’m so thankful that you’re all in my corner.

The rest of you, the people I know I missed because this is always the hardest to write. — None of this would be possible without you. You want my words and my stories, and I love receiving messages from you all. It keeps me going. I appreciate you. Thank you.

  Kimberly

I’m still in shock book three is done, but I’m so happy it’s finally out in the world. I never thought I’d cowrite a book, let alone so early in my journey, but I’m grateful it happened. Living in Sterling’s mind for a few months was a fun change, and this whole process was a welcome challenge and an experience I’ll never forget.

Dominique Laura, thank you for writing this book with me and for taking on the voice of Perrie. It’s so gratifying to look through all our words, words born from an idea we ran with while on our road trip from Los Angeles, and know it all came together. We may be complete opposites in terms of writing process and style, but we are the same in terms of the amount of love and encouragement we gave each other. Thank you for being my writing buddy and one of my best friends. I’m so grateful we met. We did it, and I’m so proud of us.

Rachelle, thank you for your endless patience with me while I tried to get my head on straight. I value your feedback more than I can say, but I value our friendship even more. Thank you for being my bestie and for supporting me every step of the way. I love you.

To my badass beta readers—Kelly, Lisa, Michele, Michelle, Rachelle, Samantha, Shauna—thank you so much for reading the very raw, very unedited version of this story before anyone else. Your thoughtful feedback, suggestions, reactions, and ranty messages are beyond helpful and appreciated.

To my fabulous AF ARC team, I love you ladies so hard. Your continued support of me on this journey is so incredibly heartwarming, humbling, and uplifting. Thank you for being there for me each step of the way and for making this whole journey extra fulfilling. I hope I never disappoint you with my words, and if I do, I know you’ll get me back on the proverbial horse.

To my reader group, Reese’s Romantics, thank you for the support, laughs, and love (and eye candy!). My heart overflows with joy and gratitude whenever I interact with you all, and I still can’t believe you enjoy my words. Thank you for being part of my tribe and for being one of the reasons I write.

Special shout-out to Annette, Kelly, and Michelle for not only being the admins of my ARC team and reader group, but for being the core of the #JuicyFruitTribe. I love you ladies so much and am so blessed to know you. Your friendship, support, and kind words keep me going.

Thank you to the amazing ladies at Give Me Books (GMB) for all of their hard work, guidance, and support. Cheers to another flawless release! I cannot wait to work with you all again.

To my family—Mom, Dad, Gabe, Scott, Nana, and the pups—thank you for everything. Your bottomless well of support while I try to carve out a path for myself sustains me. Thank you for being there for me through all the sleepless nights, the worry and stress, the joy and happy tears. I love you all so very much.

To you, dear reader, thank you for picking up this book. If you’ve already read my books, thank you for supporting my cowritten endeavor. If you’ve never read my books before, thank you for taking a chance on me. I hope you enjoyed this story as much as we enjoyed writing it. This one’s for you.
