Meyer squeezed her hand. “We will. I promise. We’ve waited this long to find you. I guess we can wait a little longer.”
When they reached the house, Sadie had managed to mend some of the cracks in the walls around her heart but she was on shaky ground. If Meyer could manage to damage her defenses so much and that easily, she was in big trouble. Add Logan to the mix and she was going to fall for these men without a doubt.
* * * *
“We’re pushing her. She’s going to run scared.” Meyer tossed his shirt into the hamper and started to work on his pants. When he’d returned to the house after his walk with Sadie, he’d found Logan wide-awake and watching television.
“Did she say no?” Logan asked.
“No, but she didn’t say yes either. She wants to think about it.” Meyer grimaced. “I don’t think I handled things very well. She said she wasn’t a deal to be closed.”
Logan laughed and placed a hand on his ribs. “Aw, babe, I’m sure you did fine. If she wants time, we can give that to her. Maybe we should plan a picnic tomorrow for lunch and talk to her together. Find out what her doubts are and talk about them. We can’t address them until they’re out in the open.”
“I asked her what the roadblocks were,” Meyer said defensively.
“I know you did.” Logan soothed. “We all need to talk about this together anyway. You know what Mark, Travis, and Becca said when we talked to them. Becca had doubts and they discussed them openly like adults. We need to do the same.”
Meyer threw open the covers and slid into bed next to Logan, his body instantly responding to being this close to his lover. He smelled good and Meyer couldn’t stop himself from leaning over and kissing Logan. Logan responded with enthusiasm, their tongues tangling.
Blood rushed to Meyer’s cock and he groaned as Logan’s hand encircled him, rubbing up and down, before moving lower to cup his balls.
“Shit, babe. That feels good. It’s been too long. We can’t, though. You’ll get hurt.”
Logan didn’t stop his devilish fingers. They rolled Meyer’s sac and he could feel the blood rushing through his veins and the pressure build at his lower back.
Logan chuckled. “I may not be able to have any fun, but you can. Come here and straddle me. I want you in my mouth. Let me take care of you.”
Logan beckoned and Meyer was helpless to resist. He loved and needed this man so much. He carefully straddled Logan, a knee on each side, so he wasn’t resting any weight on his lover. Logan was sitting up and if Meyer kneeled, his cock was at the perfect height for Logan to suck.
Meyer’s cock bobbed in front of Logan’s mouth and he swiped his tongue over the head, drawing a moan from deep inside of Meyer. Logan traced the slit back and forth before engulfing Meyer’s aching cock in his hot mouth. Meyer’s hand reflexively went to the back of Logan’s head to anchor him there.
“Aw, fuck. So good. Suck me dry.”
Logan sucked Meyer’s cock like a maestro conducting a symphony. It was a far cry from when they’d first met and Logan didn’t know what to do with a dick. He’d learned quickly and Meyer had been the beneficiary of his skills and passion. He had Meyer on the ropes at the moment. His balls were pulled up tight and Meyer knew he wouldn’t last long under the ministrations of Logan’s talented oral skills.
Meyer tangled his fingers in Logan’s long hair. He was always saying he wanted to cut it short but Meyer loved it long. It felt like silk between his fingers and he tightened his hold as the inevitable dam began to burst. It exploded when Logan sucked him to the back of his throat and ran his tongue on the sensitive underside.
Meyer’s climax exploded from his lower back, through his balls, and out the tip of his cock. He shot ropes of hot cum into Logan’s mouth while Meyer watched Logan’s throat work to swallow every drop. When Meyer was empty and drained, he carefully moved to the other side of the bed so he wouldn’t jar Logan and collapsed. He’d been so keyed up these last few days it had been hard to sleep. With an orgasm under his belt and empty balls, Meyer knew he’d be out like a light soon.
Logan gave him a playful grin. “Feel better? You’ve been so tense, babe.”
Meyer nodded. “Between trying to let Sadie get to know us and this thing with Jean-Luc, shit, I’ve had a lot on my mind. Plus your accident. Although I know better than to try and talk you into selling the bike. I suppose you’ll be getting it fixed?”
To Meyer’s shock Logan shook his head. “No, I won’t. It’s totaled.” Logan grinned. “I’ll be getting a new one.”
Meyer rolled his eyes. “Of course. A more badass one, I presume?”
“You bet. That’s me. One badass dude.”
Meyer rubbed Logan’s thigh. “I wish I could take care of you, too, but I’m afraid you’ll hurt your ribs.”
“I’m getting better.” Logan patted his ribs. “I’ll be back in action before you know it. Your ass is mine, got it?”
He and Logan both bottomed for each other, neither one trying to dominate the relationship completely. It was a formula that had worked since the beginning and they weren’t going to change now.
“All yours. I’ll let you do whatever you want when you get better.”
“Maybe Sadie will be in our bed by the time I get better.” Logan waggled his eyebrows.
“Maybe.” Meyer pulled the covers up and flicked off the light. “If she decides to give us a chance. It didn’t look positive for us earlier today, babe.”
Logan yawned and settled into the pillows. “We just need to make her feel special.”
With painkillers in his system, Logan was asleep almost immediately. Meyer lay awake for a while longer, thinking about what special meant. He didn’t know what made Sadie feel special, but Logan was right. If they could figure that out, surely Sadie would give them a chance.
Chapter Five
Sadie stretched her arms over her head. She’d been hunched over the laptop all morning entering case reports into the system. Her shoulders ached and her stomach was growling. Logan was feeling much better this morning. She’d visited him after breakfast and he seemed more alert and his color better. He was determined to move around today and maybe even sit outside on the patio and work. Meyer had disappeared about a half hour ago so she was alone in the office when the phone rang.
“Hello?”
“Hello? This is Pierce McDonald. Is this Sadie?”
The voice was low and masculine and she immediately recognized it and the name from a phone call earlier in the month. Pierce and his two partners were consultants for L&M Investigations.
“Hi, Pierce. It is Sadie. What can I do for you today?”
“Hey, Sadie. Meyer called me yesterday. Tell him I talked to the guys and the answer is yes. We’ll work out the details later but we should be in Plenty tomorrow. We’ll take a flight out early in the morning. Do you know of any good hotels?”
It was a good thing the town council was working on accommodations for tourists. The hotel room shortage was becoming a real issue.
“There aren’t any hotels in Plenty. There is a B&B and some cabins on the lake for rent. Can I get your number and call you back? I’ll call around and see what we can find for you.”
“No problem.” Pierce recited his phone number and Sadie scribbled it on a sticky note. “I have this phone on me at all times. Let me know. Let Meyer and Logan know I’ll see them tomorrow. I’ll call when we hit town.”
Sadie bid Pierce goodbye and padded down the hall looking for Meyer. She found him in the kitchen arranging sandwiches on a platter. He looked up and smiled at her, and as usual her heart sped up.
Shit. I am in so deep.
“I wondered when your stomach was going to bring you here. We’re having a picnic on the patio. Logan’s up and around today. He’s already out there.” Meyer gestured toward the French doors. Logan was sitting at the round table drinking and iced tea. It was a lovely mild day in Florida despite the calendar saying it was November. The high today was going to
be seventy-five with barely any humidity.
Meyer lifted up the tray and a large bowl of fruit salad. “Can you grab the chips and cookies? I’ve already got a couple of glasses of tea on the table for us.”
Sadie retrieved the items and followed Meyer outside. It was a beautiful day and she breathed in the sweet air. It was so much nicer to be in a quiet, small town than in Orlando. It had also seemed so busy and full of people. Meyer handed out three paper plates and some napkins.
“Dig in. We can eat and update Logan with what’s going on at the same time.”
Sadie put a sandwich filled with last night’s succulent pot roast, chips, and some fruit salad on her plate. “I have some news. You just got a call from Pierce McDonald.”
Both men’s heads whipped around and they seemed to be holding their breath. “And?” Meyer prompted.
She smiled. “He said to tell you the answer is yes and they’ll be here tomorrow. Is that good news?”
Logan and Meyer didn’t answer. They simply let out a couple of whoops that scared the birds from the trees and high-fived each other over the table.
“Yes,” Logan crowed. “Of all our consultants, they were the ones. The ones I wanted to say yes.”
“Hot damn. They’ll be here tomorrow? I’ll ask Mom to clean out the guest rooms.”
“They asked about a hotel. I’ll call Sami and see if there is room at the B&B, and also Tom about the cabins.”
Meyer frowned. “We have room here.”
Sadie shook her head. “You already have a houseful.”
Logan waived away her concern. “That’s why we bought a five-bedroom house. We like having company.”
“You’re still one bedroom short, though,” Sadie pointed out. “I could move back to Sami’s and free up a bedroom.”
“No,” both men said in unison and she jumped at the vehemence in their tone.
“We need you here,” Meyer said.
“Here.” Logan nodded in agreement. “No more talk about leaving. We’ll figure out where they’re going to stay this afternoon. I’m sure we can find them some accommodations even if it’s not here. What else has been going on?”
Meyer filled Logan in on his efforts to plant some sort of a computer program that would ferret out Jean-Luc and find out his true location. At the very least, Meyer needed to shore up the defenses of the institution that had hired them and plug any vulnerabilities. But the real goal was to catch him and put him behind bars. By the time lunch was finished, her head was spinning with technical terms she barely understood and wasn’t sure she wanted to. She wasn’t the best of friends with her personal computer. She kept getting a nasty blue screen.
She stood up and reached for the dishes to carry into the kitchen, but Logan’s hand on her arm stayed her. “Wait. We want to talk to you. I think it’s time we all lay our cards on the table, so to speak.”
Sadie sunk back into her chair and threw a glance over her shoulder toward the house. Brenda and Carl had left the house this morning but could be back at any moment. There weren’t that many places in Plenty to be gone the entire day. Sadie had a pretty good idea what the men wanted to talk about and she wasn’t sure she wanted anyone overhearing what she might end up saying. Meyer’s gaze followed her.
“Mom and Dad drove into to Tampa for the day. They wanted to wander the mall and have lunch out. We’re alone and won’t be interrupted.”
She breathed a sigh of relief. She wasn’t one to reveal personal details to everyone she met, no matter how nice they were. Her feelings hadn’t mattered much in the past, and she assumed no one was interested in them now.
Logan leaned forward, his elbows resting on the table. “I’ll start. Meyer said he told you we were attracted to you. We’ve been looking for a third for a long time, Sadie. But no one seemed to fit. Either I wasn’t attracted, or Meyer wasn’t. Or maybe the woman thought we were total losers. Whatever, it didn’t work out.” Sadie couldn’t imagine any woman thinking the men were total losers. More like total hotties, but she didn’t interrupt. “When we met you, it was like we were hit with a ton of bricks. We’d like a chance to see if anything comes of this. We’re not looking for a casual thing. We’ve had that and we’re tired of it, frankly.”
Sadie plucked at the paper napkin. “You’ve been with other women? I mean, together with another woman?”
Meyer nodded. “We have. As we said, we missed having a female in our lives.”
The question had to be asked. “How ‘in your life’ do you picture me being? Would you have me around when you were in the mood for a woman, but only your assistant the rest of the time?”
Logan scowled. “If you’re asking if we plan to treat you like a whore, the answer is no.” Logan pushed the chair away from the table, the metal legs scraping against the concrete, and stood up. He winced slightly as he walked but she had clearly pissed him off. “You must think we’re total low-life scums. If you were our woman, we would treat you with respect. You’d be an equal in all things. Shit.”
Meyer didn’t look any happier than Logan. His lips were pressed together and his forehead was furrowed. Tough. She needed the answers before she could commit to giving this a try. She’d lain awake most of the night thinking about this and had come to one conclusion.
She wanted these men.
More than she could imagine wanting anyone. She wasn’t sure she had anything to give but there was a part inside of her that deeply wanted to try. “I didn’t mean to offend you. These are questions I had to ask. I don’t want to misunderstand what you’re offering me. I truly want to understand how you picture this working.”
Meyer blew out a breath. “You’re right. Logan and I have talked this to death so we know what we’ve been thinking but you don’t. We’re picturing a ménage relationship. A commitment, if things work out with us. Living here with us, of course.” Meyer leaned forward. “And when I say living here with us, I don’t mean in a room down the hall like a fucking guest. I mean sharing our room, bed, lives. The good and bad. Eventually, you’d marry one of us. Maybe have a couple of kids. We’d be like Becca, Mark, and Travis. We’ve talked to them extensively about how to make this work. They were honest that we had to put the woman at the center of the relationship so everything revolved around her.”
Nothing in Sadie’s miserable life had ever revolved around her, but boy, did it sound tempting. Her parents had never taken her wishes into account about anything. Her preferences or needs were never a factor in any decision being made. Just once in her life, it would be nice to be important to someone.
Two someones.
The shock must have shown on her face. Logan paused his pacing. “You really thought we’d just see you when we felt like it and ignore you the rest of the time? I’d be angry with you if I didn’t remind myself that you don’t know us very well. I’d hoped by now you would have realized we’re nice guys.”
Sadie’s face was hot, and she squirmed in her chair. She hadn’t meant to upset them but this was too important. “I had to ask. I needed to know if I was a true partner or simply spare parts. Female parts.” Inside she winced as she said it, but tried outwardly to appear calm. She wasn’t going to tell them the whole story but they needed to know her limitations. “I’d like to try with you, but you need to understand something. I’m not sure I have much, if anything, to give in a relationship. I’ve given in the past, and it hasn’t turned out very well.”
“Some asshole took advantage of your tender heart, didn’t he?” Meyer asked. “I ought to kick his ass.”
He’d have to wait in line behind Becca. “I don’t want to go into what happened right now. If things progress, well, I’ll talk about it then. I promise. In the meantime, I just need you to understand that most of the time I feel empty. Like I have nothing left to give anyone, let alone two men.”
Logan sat down next to her. “I’m sorry something has made you feel this way. If you truly feel empty, let us fill you up.”
Sadie sat
back in her chair. “Um, you mean literally?”
Logan face went slack with shock, and then he burst into laughter. Meyer was laughing as well. “No, honey,” Meyer said, his face bright red. “We mean emotionally, although if we all agree, literally, too. When you feel you’re ready for literally.”
Another blonde moment. Outstanding.
“I’m not ready for literally at the moment.” Although her body was telling a different story.
“How about we plan a date tonight? Leave everything to us. We could take you to the drive-in? A real old-fashioned date,” Logan offered.
“Are you up to that? Should you be moving around?” She eyed Logan dubiously.
“I’ll rest this afternoon. I do need to move around a little. I laid in bed for a few days but I need to start getting up and around. How about it?”
“Okay.” Sadie nodded. She did like them and she did want to try. She wanted what Becca and Sami had. She wasn’t sure she was capable of it, but she’d warned the men about her deficiencies. “If we’re going out tonight, we better get some work done now.”
Sadie stood and reached for the plates a second time. Meyer grabbed the trays and glasses. “Thank you for giving us a chance. You won’t regret it. It sounds like it’s time someone showed you how a real relationship is supposed to work.”
It was long past time. Sadie only hoped it wasn’t too late.
* * * *
Sadie was having a good time.
It wasn’t that she was surprised she was enjoying their date. It was simply she hadn’t expected to be having so much fun. She’d expected to be a basket case, honestly. Logan had taken a couple of ibuprofen after his nap and they’d loaded into the SUV and headed for the diner. Sadie wasn’t sure but she had her suspicions Brenda and Carl’s decision to spend the night in Tampa might have been engineered by the men. As it was, they would be returning to a quiet, empty house after the movie. A home full of privacy.
Dinner had flowed smoothly. They’d chatted about work mostly, clearly giving her space to talk about more personal topics if she’d chose to. She’d passed on the opportunity. She didn’t want to think about her pathetic past tonight. She wanted to make the most of the present. Right now she was ensconced between two handsome, sexy men who smelled great and made her feel even better. Every time one of them moved, their thigh would brush hers and a streak of heat would head straight to her pussy.
