“I don’t want to talk about it, I’m sorry,” I said, and meant it. I didn’t want to talk about it, not with her, not anytime this lifetime.
“Fine.” She let go of my wrist and turned back to the mirror with a shrug. “I’m just trying to warn you that you’ll be making a really fucking big mistake by chasing him down here to London. High school crush, or no crush, you’ll never be enough to keep him occupied. I’d save yourself the heartache and stay safe in Much Arlock, and leave us down here to play at business.”
“Thanks for such lovely advice,” I said, letting my sarcasm shine out. “I’m sure you were a lovely wife for him to come home to. I’m not all that surprised he spent the majority of his time in the office.”
“I really am pleased to have met you,” she told me, and smirked afresh as I headed to the exit. “It’s been amazing to see you in the flesh. Quite hilarious.”
How her words smarted as I made my way out of there.
I kept my chin up high as I made my way on shitty wobbly feet back through to the table and dropped myself back down in my chair. Ollie’s eyes fixed right on mine in a flash, his hand reaching out for mine under the tablecloth, and I tried my best to keep my expression easy and neutral so as not to ruin his evening.
Hell knows, I’d likely ruined enough of it already by taking so much of his attention from his regular business life shit in the first place.
Naomi came right back from the bathroom a few minutes later and carried on making conversation. She laughed and gestured, and grinned all around the table, and I kept my guard up, so fiercely up that she didn’t stand a chance of bringing me into her bullshit.
And then finally, just when my stomach was fried to all hell with twisted nerves and my feet were smarting with blisters, Ollie rose to his feet and held out a hand for me.
“I think it’s time we called it a night,” he said, and waved his farewells to his business friends.
I gave farewells of my own, hoping I hadn’t let him down too much by being a terrible guest partner alongside him. I could barely keep up my fake smile anymore as we piled into the taxi and started on our way back to the hotel. I felt exhausted to all hell as the flash of London city lights whizzed on by.
We were back in the hotel room when I could finally kick off my shitty heels and collapse onto the bed like a woman floored. I could have done with chucking my ballgown off to match and diving under the covers for some more TV viewing, but it seemed Ollie wasn’t quite as ready to let the events of the evening slip past without discussion. Not even close.
“I think it’s about time you told me what that bitch said to you,” he said. “Believe me, I know she’ll have done a good fucking job of stirring bullshit.”
Oh, where to start. I let out a sigh before I even tried.
Chapter Thirty-Six
Oliver
I’d been a fucking fool thinking this would be a good introduction to London life on my arm.
Maisie tried her best to be stoic-faced as she skirted around Naomi’s bullshit, but I knew it would be ripe and rancid and solid enough to have caused her nothing but fucking grief.
I attempted to get it out of her for fifteen minutes straight before I shook my head and dropped myself onto the bed right next to her.
“Stop holding back from me,” I said, and pulled her close. So fucking close. Close enough that my lips pressed to her forehead and my arms wrapped her tight. “This is supposed to be an amazing experience, you scaling the heights of London brilliance while I show you a new life. This isn’t supposed to be you having a pile of shit and nerves because my ex-wife is being a fucking bitch at a crappy fucking award ceremony.”
Her arms wrapped me up tight right back. “I’m sorry,” she said. “I wanted this to be a great event for you. I really wanted to see you enjoy it.”
“It’s not about the event,” I said. “It never was. The very second we pulled up there and I saw the nerves on your face I realised I wouldn’t give a shit if we bailed on the bullshit evening altogether and headed right on back here for more TV.”
Her smile was beautiful. Sweet and beautiful. Like her.
“I’d have loved more TV,” she said.
“I’d have loved you not to meet Naomi,” I replied. “But that horse has long bolted.”
“She’s not over you,” she said, and her eyes fixed hard on mine. “She still loves you, you know.”
I shook my head in a flash. “That isn’t love,” I said. “It never was. Love is here, between us.” I trailed my fingers down her spine until she shivered. “This was always love. Always.”
“Show me,” she breathed. “Get me out of this crappy wrong-sized ballgown and show me.”
“My pleasure,” I breathed right back, and it was my pleasure. It was every bit my fucking pleasure.
Fuck, how we both needed this.
I didn’t even bother with the zipper on that dress of hers. I grabbed hold of the neckline and tore the shit out of the fabric, splitting it free at the hemline all the way down the side.
She raised her arms, angling herself to help me, curse whispering all the while until she was truly fucking out of it, just a tiny scrap of lace panties left on her.
They didn’t last a second longer, heading the same way as the dress, a tear and a toss to the carpet, freeing my beautiful girl of everything but her glorious fucking flesh for my touch.
“I’m going to show you that you really fucking belong here,” I whispered before my mouth crashed into hers.
Her arms were around my shoulders in a flash, her tits pressed tight to my shirted chest.
“Love me,” she moaned into my open mouth. “Make love to me and show me. Make me yours.”
“I’ll show the whole of fucking London you’re mine,” I said, and walked her up to the biggest window. The glowing London skyline was burning bright, so many lights, so many people milling around down below. So much of me. My world. My fucking universe.
She whimpered as I pressed her nakedness up to the clear glass pane. My fingers were hungrier to be inside her than they’d ever been, snaking hard and fast between her legs and finding her wanting.
Two fingers pushed in deep. My thumb circled just fucking so.
“I fucking love you, Maisie,” I said, my chest against her back, my mouth to her ear. “I’ve always fucking loved you. And I always fucking will.”
“Show me,” she whimpered, and pushed herself back at me. “Show me how much.”
I was a fucking beast as I tore my shirt off my chest. My belt and trousers followed soon after, kicking off my shoes and socks and mashing my bare flesh up tight to hers.
She cried out as I reached for a decent sized lamp close by us and switched it on, flailing around for the switch in an attempt to plunge us back into shadows, but I wouldn’t have it. Not for a moment. My fingers grabbed hers and pinned her arms to her sides, staring down over her shoulder at those passers-by within easy viewing.
“You’re mine,” I growled. “Mine in my world. Tell me so.”
I slammed my cock inside her before she could get her breath.
“I’m yours!” she managed. “I’ve always been yours!”
“And so is your fucking asshole,” I told her, and pulled free of her hungry little slit.
“Oh fuck!” she cried. “Oh fuck, Ollie! Oh fuck!”
But she wanted it. Oh how she fucking wanted it.
That tight little asshole of hers had been begging for years, right back from when I was too much of a reserved geeky shit to dare to plunge all the way into her.
Finally, right there and then with the London skyline burning bright, I finally fucking took what was mine to take from her.
It felt divine. Truly fucking divine.
I kissed her neck as I claimed that ass in long, slow thrusts, savouring every fucking heartbeat as my fingers played her sweet little nub.
“I want you here,” I growled. “Here in London. Here with me. I want you to be a part of my fucking
world.”
Her whimpers were wordless, just a guttural wave of want as I took her body, and that was good enough.
I lifted her up when I was done with the window, wrapping her waist in my arms with my cock still inside her. We moved as one, her my gorgeous little doll as I dropped her onto the mattress. She barely had a second to get her balance before I was thrusting all over again, but it didn’t matter, she was right back at me, shunting for more.
“It hurts,” she groaned. “Fuck, Ollie, it hurts. But I love it. I fucking love it.”
“Filthy mouth,” I growled. “I love that filthy little mouth of yours when you lose your mind.”
She twisted her face back to mine, and the dirty Maisie I loved was right there greeting me, a world away from the poor little sweetheart who’d hated event night.
“Fill me up,” she said. “Fill up my ass and make me take it.”
Fuck, I made her fucking take it alright.
My thrusts were deep. Savage. Utterly fucking barbaric as she whimpered and squirmed. My balls slapped her curvy ripe ass loud enough that I’d swear the neighbours could hear through the walls, and I grunted right along with it, deep in the fucking moment.
“That’s it…” she whispered. “Please, Ollie, that’s it…”
But it wasn’t it. Not quite. She grunted fresh as I pushed two fingers all the way inside her cunt, both holes fucking jammed.
“Rub your clit,” I told her. “Rub that horny little clit for me.”
She did. She strummed her clit like a horny little bitch, just like I’d told her to.
I pressed my mouth to hers as she whimpered, both of us flat together, pressing. Wanting. Needing.
My beautiful Maisie was trying her best beside me, wanting so much.
“I love you,” I told her.
Her nod was solid. “I love you too,” she said. “I love you, Ollie. I love you so much.”
My dick pulsed, spewing streams of cum nice and deep in that asshole, and she rubbed her pretty cunt with a squeak and a shudder.
“Good girl,” I said, as I caught my breath, smoothing her hair nice and softly across her shoulder. “That’s my good girl.”
Her breaths were ragged. So fucking ragged. Ragged enough that she winced as I pulled on out of her.
“My God,” she breathed. “That was incredible.”
I spread her butt cheeks and stared down at the winking hole, glistening with a glorious drool of cum.
Beautiful. It was truly fucking beautiful.
“I never want to hear you put up with any of that Naomi bullshit in a million fucking years,” I told her, and slapped my swollen dick at the hole.
Her eyes were hard on mine over her shoulder.
“She said you were all for business,” she told me. “Not for love. Not for anything but women being temporary interests.”
“She’s also full of absolute shit,” I countered, and collapsed down beside her.
She reached out and pulled me close, and I kissed her head.
Drastic times caused for drastic measures.
I was still catching my breath when I reached over to the bedside table and pulled an envelope out from the drawer.
“I’ve got a shit ton to show you,” I said.
Chapter Thirty-Seven
Maisie
My eyes widened as he laid out the pages on the bed in front of me.
They were property details. A whole range of them. Sprawling city centre apartments, and executive looking family homes, and posh townhouses.
“I’ve been wondering which one you’d prefer,” he said. “They’ve all got their plus points.” He tapped the main photo on one of the apartments. “This one’s in easy school-run distance for an incredible boys’ academy. Freddie could do so well there. I’ve looked it up. Made a load of enquiries.”
I didn’t know what to say, my fingers a whole fresh bout of dithery as I picked up the brochure he was talking about and flicked through to the interior photographs. There were white paintwork and wood floors right the way through the place. A huge modern kitchen and host of bathrooms, and floor to ceiling windows looking out onto the skyline.
I gulped when I saw the cost.
“We could get the lad set up with his own playroom,” he said. “Cover it in whizz stick projects. It would be fantastic.”
My eyes landed on his, and how he was smiling. He’d been thinking about this, truly thinking about it, and I was grateful. Hell, how grateful I was.
This was the stuff of dreams, for Freddie as well as me. Amazing schools and huge homes, and the devotion of such an incredible man in his life, all set to give him a ton of great attention.
The whole of Much Arlock should be happy for us, wishing us well and waving us goodbye with grinning faces.
The whole of Much Arlock except Robbie, that is.
Especially me. I should be as happy as it came. I shouldn’t even be able to begin to contain my own happiness at the thought of moving down here to this new world with him by my side.
Ollie pulled out one of the townhouse brochures and flicked through to the picture of its cute little garden. “How about this one?” he asked. “Think we’d be able to fit some goalposts in there for the little man?”
I lifted my hand to his face and traced my fingers along his jawline, not quite believing it. Not quite believing any of this. It seemed so surreal, so soon, so magical.
“You’ve really been thinking about this, haven’t you?” I pushed, and his smirk was there in a heartbeat.
“Barely about much else,” he said. “Just say the word, Maisie, and I’ll be setting us up down here, it’s all on your timeline. Say yes and I’ll be getting right on with organising it.”
My belly flipped and fluttered, and it wasn’t from the pounding my ass had taken, far from it. I took a breath and raised my eyes from the paperwork, staring out at the lights through the window he’d just fucked me in, my senses on high alert at the rumble of traffic and people outside. So much life. So much movement.
Could we really belong here, Freddie and me? Could I really bring us down into this whole new world and set us up for a brand new future?
So much of me really wanted to, I really did.
So much of me wanted to rush down here and into the arms of the man I truly loved. For good. Permanently. No matter what I may be leaving behind.
“It’s such a lot to take in,” I said, but my smile was full of utter gratitude. “Honestly, Ollie, I’m honoured you really feel like this about me after such a long time.”
“I always have,” he told me. “It just took me some time to fully appreciate it. I don’t want to be wasting any more time without you.”
There was a strange little burst inside me, another flare of memory. Oliver Kent never wanted to waste any time. Not now, not ever. He was always on a mission, pushing forward, storming ahead and forging a road wherever he was determined to go exploring. I remembered his scowl of concentration all those years ago, always charging ahead through his exams and studies, pushing so hard. Barely a moment to consider anything outside his latest charge forward.
And Me? Maisie Moore?
I’d always felt like I was trying my best to keep up with him back then.
Failing sometimes.
Feeling out of my depth sometimes.
Naomi’s bitchy smirk flashed into my mind.
Maybe I was just his latest charge forward. Another ambition raising itself to be conquered.
His smile was so gorgeous as he leaned in towards me. His eyes begging me for a response to his stack of potential new homes.
“You’re an amazing, amazing person,” I told him. “I always knew you’d soar the skies and grab hold of your dreams.”
“Not all of them,” he said. “One of them is sitting here right next to me. Once you’re down here with me I’ll be soaring the skies a whole load fucking higher.” His stare was addictive. I could stare right back at him all day long. “I need you here, Maisie. There
s so much I need to be doing here in business, so many inventions and ideas and clients to bring onboard. I can’t juggle the company and nipping back across country every weekend.”
I took a breath. “But commuting could work, don’t you think? Until we’re really ready?”
His shrug didn’t seem particularly impressed with the thought. “It’s already driving me crazy, being without you. The video calls are a tease when all I want is you right by me, building a whole new life.”
I nodded. I could feel that too.
It was true. We were addictive, both of us so entwined and caught up with the other, there was no way on this planet we’d be wanting to dash across miles every single time we were planning to see each other.
“Think about it,” he said. “We’ll go and see these places, all of them, tomorrow. You can pick your favourite and I’ll be more than happy to claim it as ours.”
My nerves were quivering deep as I nodded my head and said my of course I’ll think about it.
They were quivering all the while I woke up early next morning and prepared for a tour of potential new homes. I put sensible shoes on, and made sure I was dressed just fine to trawl around the place, and it was worth it. Hell, we covered come distance.
The houses were bigger than the photos gave credit for. Huge open plan spaces like something from some highbrow interiors magazine. The apartments were like something from a glitzy movie, with views for miles and miles over a mass of buildings and landmarks.
Could I live here? Really?
Could I really be a London City housewife?
Would Freddie like it? Would he adjust and thrive and end up loving his life here just as much as the one he’d be leaving behind?
My legs were aching by the time we were done and I was back at Paddington station with my case back in my hand. Ollie’s expression was confident, his shoulders high and his eyes sparkling as he pulled me in for a kiss goodbye.
