Savron lay on the bed in only black boxers with his hands behind his head staring at the door she’d come from. “Feel better?” His relaxed state eased her discomfort.

  “Yes, much better. Thanks again.”

He shrugged. “Put your clothes on the dresser behind you.”

She clutched the clothes to her chest. “I’ll put them next to where I’m sleeping. Where am I sleeping?

  “Here.”

  “Oh, where are you sleeping?”

He got up in one quick fast movement, took the clothes from her, placed them on the dresser and pulled her to the bed. “Here, with you.”

Sasha squealed as they fell on the bed, and the shirt hiked up revealing she had nothing on underneath. Sasha pushed against his chest to move from underneath him and get up, but she paused staring up at him as a drawn-out moan left his lips and his hands slid up her thighs and rested on her bare arse.

“You have nothing on underneath.” His hands moved around, and she stared up into his flashing yellow eyes scared of what he’d do.

“I don’t do that. Argh, I mean I haven’t done really anything.” Shit! She was doing this wrong, and the feel of him touching her was getting to her, making her body burn with need. “Um, I’m saving ‘it’ for the person I intend to marry.”

His hands didn’t stop. She bit her cheek as a groan slipped past her lips, and his fingers brushed over her heated core. “I’m a virgin. I want my first time to be something I won’t regret. I want—”

His mouth captured hers, and what she intended to say got lost. A finger probed her vagina, and his tongue sought her own. Her hands that hadn’t moved from his solid chest came up to grip his shoulder as she felt a second finger added and then pumped in and out of her pussy. His mouth left hers, and she panted for breath and knew that if he kept up this onslaught she’d come soon.

“I’ll make it good.” He kissed her neck. “I’ll make it special.” His teeth grazed her skin. “I’ll be your only. This I can promise you.” His teeth sank into her shoulder, and she screamed as she came hard. Waves of bliss washed over her.

Sasha could feel Savron lapping at her shoulder. She could feel his rock hard erection pressed to her thigh. He stopped licking where he’d bitten her and trailed back up her neck, giving feather light kisses. He paused at her lips and brushed his over hers. Savron then eased off her and lay flat on his back next to her. Savron brought her close, tucking her into his side. She stared up at him as he brought his cum-coated fingers to his mouth and sucked them clean.

“Mmm, you taste better than you smell, gorgeous.” He leaned down and brushed a kiss on her forehead and eased her so she was half on top of him. He sighed and stroked her hair. “Go to sleep now, Sasha.”

  ****

Even with the most painful erection he’d ever had, he slept better than he could remember in years. He held his mate close, stroking her hair and listening to her breathing.

Savron had no idea how this was going to work between them, and he hoped she forgave him for what he’d done. How did you explain to a woman that you’d mate-marked her, that they now had a bond stronger than a human marriage?

Sasha snuggled more into him, and he chuckled as she moaned, “It can’t be morning. I only just got to sleep.”

  “It’s almost lunchtime.”

She sat up fast, and he watched as she groaned and lay back on him. “I didn’t realize it was that late. I have to get up and call my mum. I need to go home, too, as I’ve got a dance class late this afternoon I can’t miss. I have a big competition in a couple of weeks.” This time she slowly got up. “I’m going to be busy for the next several weeks. I have an assignment I need to have done by Friday, and I need to have at least half of a book read for English, plus homework I do for every other subject, and that’s just this week.”

She got off him, walked to the bathroom, and shut the door. His little mate had no idea that she couldn’t brush him off. He wasn’t going to let her. He heard her do her morning business and then he heard the toilet seat go down and the lid strain as she sat. He chuckled and went after her. He opened the door to see her sitting on the toilet her feet tucked under his shirt and her head rested on her knees.

“You want to talk in here or out there?”

Sasha turned bright red and eased off the toilet seat. “Can we go sit in your lounge room?”

  “Sure.”

Savron turned and walked to his lounge room. He felt her follow behind him. He sat on the sofa and pulled her next to him as she walked by him to sit on the recliner.

They sat for a moment in the quiet just cuddling. He knew she had a million questions.

  “Ask.”

“What did you do to me last night?”

“Well I thought that was obvious, but if you want a re—”

Sasha whacked his chest and made a choking embarrassed noise. “Not that. I know what that was. I was talking about you biting me.” She reached up and rubbed his mark.

“I mated you.” He leaned down and kissed his mark. She shivered against his body. “You are the one woman in the world that I and my lion could and will love. The woman who can have my children. The woman who is the other half of my soul. The only woman who can soothe my savage beast.” He cupped her face. “The one woman in the whole universe who was made just for me, and I just for you.”

Sasha’s breathing was coming in pants, and her eyes were wide as saucers. “How do you know this?” she whispered.

He kissed her, bringing her onto him so she straddled his lap. Sasha’s arms came straight around his neck, and she held him tight. His body came alive, and Sasha’s scent intensified.

Fuck. This was going to be the hardest thing he’d ever done. When she’d told him last night she was a virgin and was saving it for someone special, the man she’d marry, he knew he couldn’t have sex with her. It had to be her choice. Savron wanted it to be her choice. He wanted Sasha to choose him.

Pulling his mouth from hers, he groaned at her passion-filled eyes. “This.” He pointed to her and then himself. “You’re irresistible to me. I knew you were something special as soon as I saw you. It took me a while to figure it out, I’ll admit, but my lion went crazy and knew instantly.” He tucked some of her hair behind her ear. “Do you remember how I acted on your birthday?”

  She nodded.

“That was when I knew for sure. I got out of my car, and desert rose hit me full force. Then I saw you in that tiny, tight dress, and I almost came in my pants. I thought you were, are, the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.” He let his hands trail down her back. “My lion went crazy, and I couldn’t control him. That’s why my family came out so they could help.” He watched as she took it all in.

“Why did you mate me now? It’s been a couple of weeks.”

He ran his hand through his hair and scrubbed his face, reluctant to tell her more. She sat straddled in his lap waiting. “I couldn’t handle it anymore. My lion and I were going insane without you, especially when we knew where you live and that a lot of the time you were with my family. I tried to spend time with you, but any time I’m close to you I have to fight myself and lion not to claim you.”

  “Why didn’t you?”

He brought his arms around her and hugged her to him. He held her and hoped she understood. “You’re human. Fragile, and young.”

Sasha pushed at his chest, but he wouldn’t let her move until she’d heard it all.

“You’re rare. We don’t mate with humans often. Shifters are stronger than you in every way. If I hadn’t mated you, you’d have grown old and died a lot earlier than me. You could have got some disease and died. You would never have had children of your own. That’s just some things. Also you don’t know the shifter rules.” He touched her mate mark. “I’ve given you extended life. You’ll never get sick, and you’ll heal quicker. But you’ll never be as strong as me, and you’ll never change into a shifter. Our children will. They will be like me. Humans are inferior. ”<

Savron let his hands drop, and Sasha scrambled off him.

“I didn’t claim you on your birthday because I wanted you to get to know me. I wanted you to know the world you’re coming into. I wanted you to know what I do.”

Sasha didn’t say anything. She just stared at him. He wished he knew what she was thinking.

“I couldn’t live without you anymore, and when you rang Britney accepting what I was I knew I couldn’t wait any longer. Last night was the first time since I met you that I’ve slept.” He moved towards her. “I need you. I need you here with me.”

Sasha bit her lip, and he wanted to kiss her. It was so cute.

“You want me to move in here with you?”

  “Yes.”

Sasha looked around. “I … I don’t have a job to help pay for anything. I’m still in school. I’m Australian. America won’t let me stay here forever.”

Savron inched closer to her. “You don’t need a job. I have one.”

She frowned and raised her eyebrow.

“You can help out when you finish school. I want you to finish school and be happy.” He was scared to tell her the next thing, but he knew he had to. “The mate claim is sorta like marriage but stronger. There is no such thing as divorce. You’re it for me.” Savron cleared his throat. “I can’t physically be with anyone else. Not that I want to be or would even think about it. Fuck, I’m stuffing this up.”

Sasha looked shell-shocked. Savron tugged her to him. “Give us, this, a chance. If you’re happy I’ll marry you in the human way also. Shit, if you want I’ll even move to Australia. Sydney and Perth have a gateway. Look, I promise if it doesn’t work you can leave.”

After what felt like hours but were only minutes Sasha nodded. “Okay, I’ll give us a chance. What do I tell my mum?”

He knew Sasha and her mother were close, but he wasn’t sure it was safe for her mother to know about shifters. “What do you want to tell her?”

“I’m not sure. I don’t know if I want Mum to know about the otherworldly creatures. I know she won’t want me moving in here with you. Even though I’m eighteen, it still feels wrong just telling her I’m moving out. Can we ease into it?”

“Sasha, I can’t protect you if you’re there. I like knowing you’re here and safe.” Savron should have told her yes, but he was being selfish.

Sasha’s shoulders sank. “Okay. Take me home. I’d like to talk to Mum and have a night at home before I just spring it on her.”

“All right, go get dressed, and we’ll leave.” He could give her one more night at her mother’s place. She got off, and he followed to get ready and head over to his own family.

  Chapter Five

Sasha couldn’t believe what had happen last night and what she’d been told today. She’d told Savron she would talk to her mum, but she hadn’t had the chance. Or that’s what she told herself anyway. She lay in bed trying to go to sleep and told herself she’d tell her tomorrow.

The alarm hadn’t gone off, so Sasha was running late. She ran by her mum, who was rushing to get ready herself. Melody sat in the kitchen table seat ready for school watching her and mum run around trying to get ready.

“I’ll drop you two at school, Sasha, so message Mac. I need to talk to both of you anyway.”

Sasha nodded not correcting her mum to tell her Savron was coming to take her this morning. She got out her phone messaging Savron not to come.

Twenty minutes later Sasha sat in the car with Melody and her mum, and she chanted in her head. Tell your mum. Tell her you’re moving out.

Her mother cleared her throat drawing her attention. “Girls, I have something to tell you.”

Oh shit, does she know already?

“Steven has asked me to marry him. I said I needed to check with my girls first.”

“Mum, congrats. I’m so happy for you.” Sasha knew she couldn’t tell her mother about Savron now. She’d wait a while. Sasha would tell her in a couple of days.

Melody was okay with her mum and Steve, so her mother dropped them at school with a huge smile on her face. As Sasha got out her mum yelled, “Dinner tonight just us four to celebrate.”

Sasha came around the car to the driver’s side, opened the door, and leaned in to hug her mum. “Sure, Mum. I love you. See you tonight.”

Wolf whistles sounded behind them, and her mum let her go. Sasha turned to see some of her friends cat-calling and making rude gestures. Giggling at their stupidity she went over and joined them. She told herself she’d figure something out with Savron.

  ****

Drama was her last thing. She strolled out of the school with Jess, Travis, and Zeck, who Britney had told her was one of the few humans at the school.

“You have to play the part, Sasha. You’re perfect.” Zeck stood before her and took her hands. “What are you doing in these woods?”

Travis laughed. “You think you’ll get Prince Charming?”

Jess giggled at their antics, and Zeck winked at Sasha. “Of course, who else is more charming? Plus it gives me a chance to dance with Sasha.”

Sasha laughed as Zeck grabbed her by the waist and did a very bad attempt at waltzing. “I’m not doing it. I can’t sing, and –”

“Yummy. Oooh, and he’s coming this way.” Jess interrupted her as she drooled at whoever was behind her. “Wow, I think every Pride brother is hotter than the next,” Jess whispered seconds before arms came around Sasha pulling her from Zeck.

Savron turned her to face him. His head came down, and he kissed her in a blatant kiss that showed her as his possession. His lips left hers, and he muttered just loud enough for those close to them to hear. “Hey, gorgeous, I missed you this morning.”

She pulled away and turned back to her friends and told herself not to cave at his words, but to stay angry that he’d given in to his jealousy. Jess looked at her with clear envy, and Zeck and Travis looked like someone had punched them in the guts.

“You gonna introduce me?” Savron whispered.

“Jess, Zeck, Travis, this is Savron.” She deliberately didn’t say anything else as Sasha knew from his display they knew what Savron was to her.

All three stared at him for a moment. Jess was the first to recover, and she took his outstretched hand and shook it.

“Nice to meet you, Savron. Are you related to Britney Pride?”

“Yeah, she’s my sister.” Savron dropped Jess’s hand and turned to Travis and Zeck.

Travis shook his hand. “Sasha hasn’t mentioned you before.”

“She’s probably had no need to.” Savron sounded annoyed.

Great, a pissing match. Sasha watched as poor Travis tried to out-shake Savron.

She groaned because she knew if she didn’t do anything soon, something was going to be said that shouldn’t, or someone would get hurt. She pulled on Savron’s arm. “Come on, let’s going. I want to get something to eat before my dance lesson.”

Savron glared at the Zeck and Travis before he let go and put his arm around her waist. “Nice to meet you.”

Sasha rolled her eyes at Savron’s lie. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.” Turning, they walked to Savron’s car.

She got in the car not saying a word. Savron got in the driver’s side and started the car and drove out of the school.

“You want to tell me why you have half the guys in love with you?”

“It’s the accent. And they’re not. You just think that. I was never this popular in Australia.”

“They are. I can smell the lust coming off them.”

She shrugged, unsure of what he wanted her to say.

“Why did you introduce me as only Savron?”

This time she turned and gave him her best evil eye. “I think from your display they got what you are to me.”

He had the sense to look sheepish. They sat quiet for a moment.

“What did your mother say about you moving in with me?”

“Argh, I couldn’t tell her right now.”
<
br />   Savron didn’t say anything for a while. It wasn’t until he drove into the mall car park, pulled into a spot and got out, opened her door and caged her in and she turned to face him. The tips of his fingers stroked her cheek.

“Why didn’t you tell her? I don’t want to sleep without you again.”

She closed her eyes and leaned into his touch. “I couldn’t do it when she said Steven had asked her to marry him, but she’d told him to wait to see what her girls thought about it first. Mum also wanted to have a dinner tonight to celebrate, just the four of us.”

Savron sighed and brushed his lips over hers. “Tomorrow you have to say something.” He helped her out of the car and held her hand as they walked into the mall.

  ****

Savron had taken Sasha to get something to eat, and they’d wandered around the mall to kill an hour before they left for her dance practice. He’d dropped her off and left going straight his parents. He needed to talk to his father.

His dad was in his office. Savron knocked and waited for the okay.

“Hi, Savron, what can I do for you?”

“I, argh. How do you stop yourself from being jealous of every man who lusts over Mom?”

His dad pointed to the chair in front of him. “Having trouble are you, son?”

He walked in and sat on the chair across from his father. “Yes. I’m hoping it’ll get better when Sasha moves in, or when she acknowledges me as her mate, as hers.”

“Sasha’s human. Give her some time to get used to the whole idea.” His dad stood and came closer to him. “I’d like to tell you that you’ll stop getting jealous over men lusting for your mate, or it will get easier, but that would be a lie. Shifters are very possessive of their mates. I’m surprised you lasted as long as you did to claim her.” He patted his knee. “Savron, not only is Sasha beautiful, she’s a very social woman. She’s easy to get on with, and she’s nice to everyone no matter if they’re human, shifter, popular or not. Also, that accent is nice to listen to.”
