It didn’t stay that way very long, and then she was guiding Shalendra. I was well past ready, and so the device entered me. From there, Shalendra and Lisolte treated me like we had Shalendra, although with different words.
I became lost, utterly lost.
And then… I achieved my own, final pleasure.
But I also felt the magic, and a second magic: a new daughter. I felt it from the very beginning, and for the next nine months, not once could I forget she was there. Not once did I lose that contact, that feeling.
I was with child, a daughter, and with that knowledge, there was one more being in the world I loved, from that very first night.
“I felt it,” Shalendra said, holding me. “I felt it. I felt it! Darfelsa, my wife. We’re going to have a baby.”
“Yes,” I whispered. “Thank you, Lisolte. Shalendra.”
“I want to call her Solte,” Shalendra declared. She pronounced it as two syllables. Sohl-Tay.
“Yes,” I whispered.
Lisolte cuddled with us, crying lightly, her hand still atop Shalendra’s.
