Roberto’s face tightened and she could feel him come inside her. “Fuck, yeah.”

“Oh, God. Yes.” Sensations shook her core. She didn’t want the feelings to leave her, but could feel them subsiding ever so slightly.

Again, as if they were inside her head, he and Miguel switched places. Miguel had removed his pants and his hard, thick cock was already wrapped in a condom. “Mi amor.” With those two words, he sent his cock into her body, and the sensations, which had been subsiding slightly, erupted to a dizzying state of pleasure once again.

She ran her fingernails over his chest as Roberto continued lovingly torturing her nipples. Miguel’s thrusts sped up and she tightened her pussy’s walls around his driving shaft.

“God, you feel so good, baby,” he said in a deep, sensual tone. “So fucking good.”

Another orgasmic blast radiated through her body. “Ohh. Mmm. Ahh.” She couldn’t form words, so taken by her climax. All she could do was moan as deep shivers took over her entire body.

Miguel kept plunging into her pussy as Roberto caressed her breasts and sucked on her neck.

“Going to come.” Miguel’s eyes narrowed and he let out a big sigh of release. “Fuuuck!”

As he came inside her, Roberto reached down and pressed on her clit.

Another wave of climatic, blissful sensation swelled inside her, and she came again and again and again.

She was completely spent. They helped her dress before getting back into their own clothes. They were so attentive and kind to her.

Roberto lowered the privacy screen. “We’re ready to return to the lady’s home now.”

  “Yes, sir.”

She leaned her head back into the seat. Then each took one of her hands and kissed them so tenderly. What a night. Perfect.

“I could use some of that cake now. At least just a taste. I’m hungry, how about you, mi amor?” Roberto asked.

  “Yes, please.”

Miguel retrieved the container and opened the minibar. “This limo has everything. Forks and plates. Just what we need.”

  She smiled. “How about coffee?”

“There are cups but no coffee, but we can take care of that.” He leaned forward and addressed the driver. “Do you know where we can get a good cup of coffee at this hour?”

  “I do, sir.”

  “Don’t bother,” she said.

“It’s no bother, miss.” The driver passed back a thermos to Miguel. “No one makes coffee better than my wife.”

“Thanks, buddy.” Miguel poured the coffee into a cup and handed it to her.

She took a sip. “You weren’t lying. This is absolutely delicious. Does she have a special blend?”

“She won’t tell me, so I always have to depend on her. Any time I try to make coffee, it ends up tasting terrible.”

“I can make more at my house for us, though it won’t be as good as this.”

Roberto stroked her hair. “Since it’s your coffee, mi amor, I have no doubt it will be excellent. Besides, I wouldn’t want to share a cup with anyone more than you.”

“What a charmer you are, Roberto Sanchez.” She turned to Miguel. “I will take a taste of Pierre’s cake, thanks.” She was still tingling from their lovemaking. How lucky she felt just being with them.

Miguel put a piece on one of the plates and passed it to her. “Here you go, sweetheart.”

“Oh my God, this tastes even better than it did at Pierre’s restaurant.” She took a couple more bites, relishing in the sweetness. The coffee from the thermos paired perfectly with the dessert, bringing out more flavors. Roberto and Miguel were also enjoying the cake and coffee. I’m falling for them already and it’s only our first date. What a first date, though. Oh my God.

When the limo stopped in front of her home, the driver got out and opened the door for them. They all got out. Miguel handed the thermos to him. “You saved the day for us and this lovely lady. Thanks.”

  “My pleasure.”

She walked up to the man. He had kind eyes. “Please tell your wife thanks, too. And if she ever wants to share how she makes it, I’ll be the first in line.”

  He smiled. “I certainly will.”

The light from her lamppost illuminated his nameplate, which was pinned to his shirt. “Hank?” Her entire body stiffened as her ancient pain rose to the surface.

“Yes, miss. That’s my name. Is everything okay?”

“Of course. I’m just very tired.” She wanted to run into her house, lock the doors, and shut the blinds. She’d made a big mistake. What did she know about men? Nothing. Her ex Hank had proved that to her long ago. But she tried to keep her cool, her composure, to hide her feelings from the two men who had made love to her in the back of the limo. “Guys, I’m sorry, but suddenly I’m very tired. Can we make it another time?”

  Miguel and Roberto looked confused.

“Really, I’ll make this up to you.” But I won’t. I can never see them again. She didn’t like lying, but what else could she do? She’d been down the rabbit hole before and had barely escaped. Not again. Not ever again. “Goodnight.”

She turned and walked up to her front door, not waiting for them to respond. She needed to get away. Needed to shut them out. Needed to fall on her bed and cry herself to sleep. In the morning, maybe things would be better.

  Chapter Nine

Roberto saw Camille’s door shut and her porch light go dark. “What the hell just happened?”

“I have no fucking idea,” Miguel said. “She seemed so happy. Do you think we should go knock on her door and make sure she’s okay?”

“No. She made it very clear that she doesn’t want to be around us any longer tonight.” He knew something had triggered the change in her, but he didn’t have a clue as to what. “Hank, we’ll need a ride home.”

  “Of course.”

He and Miguel got back into the limo. They didn’t speak at first, both lost in their own thoughts, trying to figure out what went wrong.

One thing for sure he did know… “We need to talk Izzy and Toni about this, hermano. They know Camille better than anyone. They probably can shed some light on what button we pushed in her that made her shut down.”

With her heart thudding in her chest, Cami checked the locks on her door once again. The out-of-control fear was back with a vengeance. She was shaking violently. The driver wasn’t Hank. He was just a nice man with the same name. But no matter how many times she tried to tell herself that fact, it didn’t change the feeling of terror she felt inside. Why can’t I get control of this? I was having a good time. They were being respectful of me.

Hank had been respectful to her at first, and then everything changed. He became a monster. She’d found the courage to sit on the stand and give the testimony that sent him to prison. Where was that courage now?

She brought out her cell, thinking about calling Izzy and Toni. No. I need to face my fears alone this time. Or at least I need to try.

Taking a deep breath, she decided staying busy might take her mind off of the past, so she placed the container from Pierre’s in her refrigerator, walked into her bedroom, slipped out of the black dress and into her PJs, and then went into her bathroom.

As she took off her makeup, she stared at her reflection. “You should have never gone out with them. You’re damaged goods, Cami. They deserve better.”

Tears began to stream out of her eyes and down her cheeks. She collapsed to the floor, hugging her knees to her chest, and began to sob. That horrible night so long ago would never go away. It was part of her then, now, and forever. She would never be free. She would never have a chance at love. Why? Because I will never be able to trust again?

She continued to cry until the tears ran out. Exhausted, she climbed into her bed. She left the lights on, something she’d stopped doing several years ago. Am I crazy? Probably.

She pulled the covers over her head and somehow a few more teardrops pooled in her swollen eyes.
Images of Miguel and Roberto standing by the limo outside her house formed in her mind. They looked confused and concerned. She wished she could go back and change the events of the night so that she would never have seen the driver’s nameplate. The end of the date might have turned out differently.

But what if it had? Then it would have only delayed the inevitable. Eventually something else would trigger the old memories to come flooding back. What then? Her heart already felt like it was ripping apart. Another month with Miguel and Roberto? Or, what if things kept moving forward for two more months? Even three? She was now only hanging on by a thread. Any more time with them and she knew she wouldn’t be able to survive losing them.

Cami stood next to the limo between Miguel and Roberto. One of her favorite songs by Gya Gaynor was playing on the radio. She held her shoes in one hand and the cake in the other. The night was perfect. Miguel and Roberto were absolutely perfect.

“How did you like the coffee?” their driver asked.

“Delicious,” she said, turning his direction. “I’ve never had better. Your wife’s recipe—”

“My wife’s recipe? But you’re going to be my wife, Cami.”

Her eyes landed on his nameplate. “Hank?”

  “That’s right, babe. It’s me.”

She glanced up at the driver’s face and saw the evil eyes she knew too well. He was her ex—the man she feared more than anything else.

She turned to Miguel and Roberto for protection, but they were no longer next to her. She was alone, facing the monster once again. Her house was gone, too. Her street. Everything vanished into an abyss. The only things that remained were Hank, the coffee thermos—and me.

He slammed into her, forcing her to the tiled floor of her apartment. The pain in the back of her head was unbearable. X-rays would show she had a concussion, no doubt. She touched the side of her head and felt the warmth of her own blood on her fingertips.

Why was she here? She hadn’t lived in this place in years. Stretched out on her back, she looked up at the ceiling with the large crack that the landlord refused to repair.

Hank was on top of her, shouting, his body pinning her to the floor. “Fucking whore. Slut. You goddamn bitch.” His breath smelled of bourbon and stale cigarettes.

This was hell. Am I dead?

“You deserve this. You think those two bastards can save you from me?”

“Leave them out of this, Hank. Please.”

He punched, again and again, just as he’d done that horrible night. She tasted blood. He ripped off her clothes. Why was she reliving this night? Oh God, why? Why was she here again? But no answers came, only pain and terror.

Hank’s rage still burned blistering hot, and once again, it paralyzed her.

“Please don’t,” she begged him. She prayed for help to whatever angels might be near. “Don’t do this to me. Not again.”

He slapped her. “I’ll do whatever I want to you, cunt.” He unbuckled his belt.

He is going to rape me again. That thought pushed the panic button inside her. She tried to wrestle free of his hold with every ounce of strength she had, but he was too strong. There was no escape.

“You and those two friends of yours think you’re better than me. You’re not. You’re nothing but scum under my boots.”

She closed her eyes, fearing the worst, remembering what he’d done to her so long ago. A twisted snarl appeared on his face. “You’re mine, Cami. You’ll always be mine.”

Her cell buzzed, pulling her out of the nightmare before the rape. Her whole body was trembling. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to shake off the remnants of the dark memory. The smell of bourbon and stale cigarettes remained for a brief moment.

Her cell buzzed again. Hoping it was Izzy or Toni, she answered it without looking at the caller ID.

  Chapter Ten

“Izzy? Toni?” Cami’s voice shook with emotion because the nightmare was still so fresh in her mind.

The scary, computerized voice answered, “No, bitch. Don’t play games with me. You know who this is.”

“Leave me alone!” She punched the red button and tossed her cell to the side.

Anxious, she left her bed and rechecked all the locks on her doors and windows. She even looked in her closets and under her bed, just to be certain she was alone.

“I’m really overdoing this. I’m just being paranoid.”

She picked up her cell and brought up her speed dial numbers. The top two contacts were Izzy and Toni. Should I call them? She looked at the time and realized it was three in the morning, much too late to disturb them. She clicked on the “Recent Calls” icon. The last number was once again marked “Unknown.” Not wanting to hear from the prank caller again, she turned off her phone.

  “I’m wide-awake now.”

She walked into the kitchen and put on a pot of coffee, recalling her change of heart with Miguel and Roberto. She’d ruined their date, ending it on a very sour note. If she hadn’t seen the driver’s nameplate, they would have come inside. But she had seen it. “Hank” on the gold badge had sent her into a tailspin, which eventually landed her in the nightmare to relive something she desperately wanted to forget.

“It’s for the best that I don’t see Miguel and Roberto again. I like them a little too much.” She opened the container and placed a piece of Pierre’s dessert on a plate. Taking a bite, she enjoyed the sweetness that ignited her taste buds, which caused her to remember Miguel and Roberto’s wonderful kisses.

Why did they have to be so nice? I should have never said yes to going out with them.

Even though she would never be able to see Miguel and Roberto again, she would always remember the one amazing night she’d spent with them.

She took another bite, knowing she would have to burn a ton of calories at the gym. “No more, Cami.” She put the remainder of the dessert in the refrigerator before walking back to her bedroom.

Maybe Izzy and Toni will join me at the gym? She would send a text in the morning to invite them. I really need to talk to them about everything.

She had a pretty good idea how they would react to the news about the date. They would be disappointed it hadn’t turn out the way they wanted, but they would support her decision.

Izzy and Toni always supported her. They’d been her anchors, her rocks. They were her sisters of the heart.

Knowing there wasn’t any chance she would fall asleep now, Cami turned on the television, propped up her pillows, and settled down on her bed with Peanut.

“You’re the only man for me,” she told him, wishing it could be different somehow. But it wasn’t. She was too broken, damaged. The Sanchez brothers were young and handsome and everything she ever dreamed of, but they had their entire lives ahead of them. They deserved better than she had to offer.

Peanut placed his head on her lap.

The show on the screen didn’t hold her attention. All she could think about was Miguel and Roberto’s kisses.

She patted Peanut’s head, knowing the only kisses she would ever get from now on were his.

The instructor finished the cool-down portion of the class. “Good job, everyone. No better way to start your day than forty-five minutes of aerobics. If you agree, let me hear it.”

Most of the students cheered or applauded.

Cami heard Toni grumble under her breath. “I know a lot of ways that are better, like a good cup of hot coffee.”

She and Izzy laughed quietly, knowing Toni wasn’t a morning person. Far from it.

“I hope you all have a great day.”

Cami hoped so, too. She turned to her two friends. Izzy had been awake early, but Toni hadn’t. Still, they both came. They knew she needed them.

Toni wiped her face with her towel. “Girls, I just have to get a cup of coffee. It’s not even seven yet.”

“Let’s go to the Starbucks down the block,” Izzy said.

  Without a word,
Toni rushed out of the room.

“I’ve never seen her move so fast before, Izzy.”

“Me either. No one comes between her and her morning cup of java.” They walked out of the door, following after Toni.

Once they had their morning drinks, the three of them sat down at one of the coffee shop’s tables. Toni took a sip. “God, that helps.”

Cami smiled. “Thank you both for coming.”

“Sweetie, your text made it clear you needed to talk,” Izzy said. “Of course we’d be here, no matter what time.”

“That’s true.” Toni grinned. “But maybe we could meet without the aerobics and the little-miss-sunshine instructor.”

Izzy smiled. “Just drink your coffee, Ms. Grumpy Pants, and let’s hear Cami out.”

  Toni nodded.

Her two friends looked at Cami with eyes full of love and concern.

“Plain and simple, I blew my date with Miguel and Roberto.”

“That’s impossible,” Toni said. “I know how you are, Cami, always beating yourself up for no reason. I’m sure you were fine.”

“At first, yes. They were perfect and made me feel like a princess.”

“So far, so good,” Izzy said. “And?”

“And then I screwed up.” She told them all the details of the night up to what had happened when she’d seen their driver’s nametag. “It took me back to that terrible night.”

“Oh, honey.” Izzy grabbed her hand. “I’m so sorry.”

Toni took her other hand. “You’ve suffered so much because of that bastard.”

“To top it all off, I got another prank call, but at least it pulled me out of the nightmare I was having about that night.”

“I thought those had stopped,” Toni said.

“So did I. It had been so long since I’d had one.”

Izzy sighed. “The driver’s name triggered the dream, I bet.”
