The Cyborg's Rebel Page 9

by Maya Carnage

"We probably need to tell her that before some poor cyborg gets their ass kicked because they invaded her space." Dawn throws an arm over her face as Axe rubs her sore feet. "I'm really happy with you, Axe. That's not usual for me, but I feel free when I'm with you, and I like it. I've decided for the next few weeks, or until Kayla contacts us, I'm taking time off from being a rebel." The rebels have been the center of her life for the entirety of it, and so it's time that she took a step back and reevaluated what it is she wants from life. Plus, it will give her some time to come to terms with what Kayla and their father did. She understands why they did, but it still stings that they kept it from her.

"I've never been on vacation," said Axe.

"Well, baby, you're about to, she said, smiling.

The two of them sit back on the couch, Axe rubbing Dawn's feet while she makes plans for their vacation, most of which is swimming in the heated pool the apartment building has.

The future is uncertain from the upcoming fight against the Malviks, but she knows that through it all, no matter how bad it gets, she'll have Axe by her side. That's all that matters.
