Saracena was waiting for Lessing in the lobby of the sheriffs' department when he arrived. They exchanged small talk and decided to have lunch at a local cafe so Lessing could tell his story while Saracena took notes.

"That's what I know, detective. Or maybe I should say, that is what I know that I know. If you tell me more about what you know, it might remind me of something that I don't realize is relevant."

"I understand, Mr. Lessing. You have the sword with you, you said?"

"It's in the trunk of my car. I never received a formal police report but you can get that from the lab in Warren. The lab tech's name is Ray Finley. He seems like a nice guy but he is overworked so he wasn't willing to spend any more time on it just to satisfy my curiosity. I am sure he will be more helpful to you but you should go through the normal channels so he can justify the extra work and receive the proper credit."

"I will do that. Monday I will make a formal request through my office and through the state police office."

"Does Mr. Keene have any property other than the house where he lived?"

"We can check that back at the office. If there is other property we can go by and see what we can find, if you would like to spend the extra time here."

"I would enjoy that. I have the rest of the weekend. I might be able to spot something that is related that would not catch your eye."

"Good, then we can go back to the office and see what we can find. Why don't you retrieve the sword from your car while I go check the county records for more details on Keene."
