Slashes in the Snow : A Baum Squad novel

There’s no holding back the orgasm rushing to engulf my body. I tremble and fight against Ky’s hold, needing an outlet for the moment of impact, but he keeps me restrained, forcing all the pressure to concentrate right smack in the center of my thighs. I scream behind his hand when I come from the hysteria of pleasure. It's one of the hottest, most forbidden orgasms of my life. It explodes right out of me, releasing tension buried so deep inside it was residual from my past.
Ky comes seconds after me, the water splashing around us as his violent thrusts rattle us both.
His hand slides from my mouth when the convulsions subside, and he rests his worn, heaving body against mine. Pressing sensual kisses down my neck, he continues to hold me tight. “You drive me crazy, and you make me sane. How is that possible?” he murmurs.
I laugh in a sex-induced daze. “I could ask the same thing about you.”
Loosening his hold, he spins me in his arms so we are face to face and stares at me like I am the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen. “I am so stupidly in love with you,” he declares. “I can’t wait to make you my wife.”
“I don’t recall you actually proposing. That was the deal, right? I get the ring, you pop the question?”
“I do recall such a conversation. Yes. That seems like such a long time ago, though.” He pretends to ponder.
“I know how to keep a guy waiting.” I steal a kiss from him.
“You also know how to teach him a few things.”
“Oh, yeah, like what?” I ask dreamily.
“Let it hurt then let it go.”
I regard Ky thoughtfully. “I taught you that?”
He nods. “You’ve taught me so much. You’ve helped me fix so much. You brought my family back together and made me own so many of my mistakes.”
I blink blankly. “I did all that?”
“You are a pretty remarkable woman.” We drift through the calm water together, tangled in each other’s arms. “You’ve made me realize every single mistake I have ever made has brought me to this moment. To you. To us.”
“I don’t feel remarkable.”
“Well, that's the thing about remarkable people. They never know they’re remarkable. But everyone else can see it.” He tucks a strand of wet hair behind my ear. “And I want to spend the rest of my life with someone remarkable.”
“No pressure.”
“None.” Ky plants his hands on my ass and squeezes. “So, what do you say? Will you marry me and be my remarkable person for as long as we both shall live?”
I slide my hand down Ky’s shoulder to his chest. We both look at the sparkling ring sitting on my finger. “I think I already said yes.”
Ky smiles brightly. Happily, freely. “I think I love you.” He leans in to kiss me.
“How did that happen?” I echo a question he once asked me.
Ky glances upwards, then whispers, “Only the stars know.”
THE END.

SNEAK PEEK AT ACES HIGH
Breaker
SOMETIMES LIFE DEALS you a shitty hand, and sometimes it deals you a sweet one.
Four years ago, my father died and left me with a steaming pile of horse shit. That pile? Two hundred fifty thousand dollars in gambling debts. The man sure loved the ponies. Luckily for me, my dad’s bookie was one of his closest friends, so he allowed me to pay off the debt little by little. For years, I’ve lived meagerly under the radar of my Baum Squad Mafia brothers who were unaware I was financially drowning.
I had everything under control until the turn on the river went bust and The Bowman passed away. Now, I’m fucked, cause the arrangement he made with the men I owe died the day he did, and now they’re here to collect. I have two measly weeks to cough up the money, or it’s lights out Breaker. The only silver lining about having two weeks left to live? The Bowman’s death brought Liv, his daughter, back into my life. We grew up together. She’s practically my sister — and hates me with the same ferocity of an estranged sibling, too. But time apart and grief do strange things to people. They bring them together in unexpected ways. Like drunk and horny and naked in your bed.
Life, I tell ya. It can sure deal one hell of a motherfuckin' hand.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
M. Never is a USA Today bestselling author of dark and contemporary romance. Her females are fierce and her alphas are magnetizing, just like the romance she provokes between them. She casts a spell, weaving one wonderous word at a time. A native of new Jersey, she is now a Maryland transplant juggling life the way one would juggle knives —carefully reckless. She has a dependence on sushi, a fetish for boots, and is stalked by a clingy pit bull named Apache. Writing is her passion, but readers are her love.
