Brian looked extremely bored by the turn in conversation. “Well, if we cut off his money, he’ll have no choice but to finally get a job and be productive.”

Matt hesitated a moment then said, “Maybe you should update your will, just to be safe.”

“They both know if something happens to me, neither one of them will get a dime.” Brian snarled.

“And the trust you put David and Marie’s insurance money into?” Matt asked. He knew this was rightfully Kizzy’s money.

“Maybe you should transfer that into my account now. If she’s missing or dead, then the money reverts back to me, you know that.” Brian nodded smugly.

“But you need proof beyond a doubt that she’s gone. And you don’t have that yet.”

“Quit nitpicking!” Brian bellowed. “We don’t know where she is at the moment, so technically she’s missing.”

“She going to be twenty five in a few weeks and at that time, she’ll gain access to the trust. You have to give her until then before you take the trust,” Matt argued.

Brian glared at him. “I want that money transferred the day of her birthday. No more excuses.”

Matt blanked the look in his eyes just like he’d always done around this man.

Brian Williams was a miserable excuse for a man and a lousy excuse for a grandfather. But then he’d been a miserable excuse for a father as well.

Matt had been his attorney for the last thirty five years and he was about done. During the first twenty years, it hadn’t been that bad, then the man got worse every year. Matt stayed on when it had just been the normal filings and officiating over real estate deals. But now, the man was having him do things, he felt was unethical and he could not tell Kizzy that she had all that money waiting as it would break his no conflict oath.

All Matt was waiting on before he quit was Brian moving to Birmingham. He felt slimy and sickened now, just by working for a man like him.

Matt turned to go, he had to get away before he said or did something like maybe punching Brian in the fucking mouth. The man might be a brilliant business man but he was a horrible human being.

Joey Bassette watched Matt leave his grandfather’s office. He’d followed him here and intended to follow him everywhere today until he went home.

Blade had called him yesterday and said that Kizzy was dead. Joey almost did a jig. This meant he was the only heir, he and his mom, wherever the hell she was. It didn’t matter. Yeah, it was sad about his cousin but he never cared about her anyway.

But Blade also told him he had twenty four hours to come up with the money he owed him. Fifty thousand dollars! Cash by tomorrow or he would be dead the day after tomorrow.

Yeah, he could run but why? When he had an inheritance like that waiting for him? No, he came up with another plan.

Matt would have money. He also had access to Brian’s money.

He then followed the man home. He already knew where he lived but he had to be sure, no one was around for this. He planned to make Matt believe Kizzy would die if he did not wire money into Joey’s account. If Matt wouldn’t do it, then he would move to plan B.

Matt pulled into his driveway then on into his garage.

Joey sat in his car and waited. He saw that no one was around. Slipping out of his car, he went up the steps and rang the bell.

After a few minutes, good ole Matt answered the door. “What do you want Mr. Bassette?” He glared at Joey with obvious dislike.

Joey put on his act. “They called me about Kizzy!” He raised his phone. “I guess she gave them the number after Brian refused to pay?”

Matt stared at him. “Then they called you?”

Joey nodded. “Gramps won’t pay them. What are we going to do?”

Matt opened the door as he sighed. “Come on in.”

Joey kept his expression worried looking as he stepped inside.

  Matt headed to his office.

Joey followed and stood just inside the door. “How are we gonna pay them, Jeff?” he asked.

Matt sat at his desk. “First off. Don’t talk to me like I’m your friend.”

Joey blinked at his rude attitude. “Look, I don’t care how you feel about me. They are gonna kill her man!”

Matt shook his head. “Since when do you even care about Kizzy?”

Joey looked shocked. “We don’t get along that well but she and gramps are all the family I have!”

Matt raised a brow at him. “You don’t care about family, Joey.”

“Well, if it is life and death I do!” he defended.

Matt sighed again. “So what do you want from me?”

“You always seemed to like Kizzy, Why don’t you want to help?” Joey accused.

Matt stood up. “I do care, but I am wondering why they called you.” He peered at him over the rim of his glasses. “What did they say?”

“They want 50,000 dollars put into this account number they gave me. Then they will release her.”

Matt shook his head. “How do we know she is even still alive?”

Joey tapped his phone. “They sent me this.” He handed his cell to Matt.

Matt studied it. “She looks beat up.” He frowned. “Poor kid. The date is 3 days ago though on this newspaper she is holding.”

Joey hoped he wouldn’t notice. “So?”

“So, maybe we need to call the authorities in on this.”

Joey gasped. “They will kill her!”

Matt stared at him. “Are you saying you want me to transfer 50k into an anonymous account?”

Joey nodded. “I know you have it. Hell, look at this house. You being a lawyer all these years. Then if you don’t want to use your own money…” he let that inference hang, hoping dumbass Matt would get the idea.

Matt blinked his eyes at him. “If I knew for sure that she was alive this minute, maybe I would put it up. No, I know I would. But this three day old picture doesn’t prove anything. We need proof of life.”

Joey let out an aggravated sigh. “It’s worth it to save her.”

Matt came around the desk and stepped up to Joey “Is this something you cooked up?”

Joey blinked his eyes in shock. “What? Are you saying I did this to her?”

Matt stared him in the eye. “No, I’m saying you arranged it. Then Brian won’t pay and you are getting the money for yourself somehow.”

Joey gasped and took an affronted step back. “How could you accuse me of such a thing?”

Matt turned to his desk and grabbed a folder. He turned back and handed it to Joey.

He took it and opened it. “What is this?” he asked while peering down at it.

“It’s a list of your gambling debts.”

“T-there are pictures in here! Of me!”

“Yes, betting, drinking and partying. They are of the last several days too. Doesn’t look to me like you were so worried over your cousin.”

Joey felt rage boiling inside. “So, you won’t wire the money?”

Matt shook his head. “Not unless you tell them I want an up to date image of her, alive, holding today’s paper.”

Joey now knew he had to go to plan B. She was dead and even if he could, Blade wouldn’t do it. He slipped his weapon out of his back pocket and aimed it at Matt. “You will wire the money and right the fuck now!”

Matt took a step back while looking alarmed.

“And you will drop that fucking pea shooter RIGHT THE FUCK NOW!” came a voice from the doorway.

Joey slowly turned with a gasp to see the biggest biker he ever saw standing there, holding perhaps the biggest gun he ever saw.

  Chapter Seven

Breed awoke when the sun came streaking in through the window, alerting him that a new day had already arrived. Fuck, he might have overslept. He took in the warmth all along his body that was coming from Kizzy. Damn, this woman fit him so well.

He breathed in deeply, waiting for her scent to wash over him. His body came awake and went hard instantly. Breed groaned and
snuggled closer to her. She felt warm and inviting and when she woke up, she backed into him pushing her backend into the cradle of his hips. He leaned closer to her ear and whispered, “You best be careful.”

  She pushed a bit more.

He got even harder, just being up so close to this woman. “Shhh…” he shushed in her ear. “I think we did a bit too much last night.”

“No, I feel like I want that over and over again.” She sniggered.

Breed smiled. “Still, your body received a shock and so did your mind over the last four days or more. I want you to rest a little longer. Just close your eyes and sleep.”

“I can’t,” she admitted. “I’m afraid to close my eyes.”

Yes, he knew about her nightmare of before. “Tell me what you were dreaming about.”

She stilled and moved a little away from him. “I-I… What dream?”

“You were whispering in your sleep and then you screamed.”

She let out a sigh. “It was a memory not a dream.”

“Tell me.” He pulled her in tighter.

Again, Kizzy sighed. “It is all still too jumbled.”

Breed looked at her for a moment and figured that she might remember it sometime. He didn’t want to push her too far, too fast. “Well, I don’t know about you but I need a shower and something to eat.”

“That sounds heavenly.” She pushed the covers off her legs and swung them over the edge of the bed. She got to her feet and immediately sat down hard, back onto the bed.

Concerned, Breed came around the side of the bed. “Are you all right?”

“Just dizzy. I’m okay.” She grabbed onto his biceps and held tight.

“I told you that you might have overdone it.” He lifted her to her feet and swung up her into his arms. He went out to the hall toward his bedroom, not caring at all that he was carrying a woman down the hallway. He went into his room and straight to the bathroom. He sat her down on the toilet and turned to start the shower. Holding her gaze, he began stripping off his clothing.

Her eyes widened as she observed his reveal of all that bare skin. That seemed to give her the courage to stand and reveal herself.

He gasped when he finally saw her nude. She was exquisite. Her breasts were high and full, despite her many bruises she was truly beautiful, even with her hair a mess. She had wonderful curves and long legs that were shapely and toned.

She took the steps necessary to join him and he moved them into the shower.

The water was warm as it ran over her skin, washing away the last several days of sweat and dust. She let it run over the top of her head.

After allowing her to enjoy the feeling of the water, Breed turned her around and poured shampoo into his hands then he began massaging it into her hair, combing his long strong fingers into her short blonde curls.

Kizzy groaned as she felt his fingers comb through her curls and she leaned against his hot hard body. She could feel his cock butting up against her ass and she reached behind her to wrap her fingers around his shaft.

Breed froze. “Kizzy, you’re playing a dangerous game here.”

“Can you just give me one day?” she begged him, hanging her head. “That’s all I want is one day. I won’t ask for more. Please, just one day with you?”

“Damn, you drive a hard bargain,” he whispered as he began nibbling on her neck. He already knew one day wouldn’t be enough with this woman. Her body stilled as he pushed his tongue into her mouth and kissed her deeply. It was a breathless kiss to where her body sagged in submission.

He tucked her in to him even tighter as his hands roamed along her back and down to her ass. He grasped her asscheeks and hefted her up against the shower wall then lifting her up, he slammed himself inside her. He’d lunged all the way in and up in one large, thick, powerful thrust.

His strokes were deep and hard while she moaned as she bucked up against him. Her body reacted as he pushed powerful thrusts into her. “Oh, oh— soooo good,” she panted out as she came.

His eyes pinned her as she climaxed like a beacon that kept her in line with him. Opening her mouth to scream, he captured it and swallowed it up as he kissed her hard.

Neither one of them gave an inch though as he kept plunging into her, making this last as long as he could for her. As their panting sounds filled the shower stall, they both exploded over the edge.

Breed lowered her gently to the floor of the shower and they sat there gasping for breath.

Kizzy leaned forward and let the water rinse her hair.

Breed soaped up a loofah and washed between her legs gently then rinsed her off.

Happily, Kizzy leaned against his shoulder and asked, “I didn’t know sex could be like that.”

“It can be with the right partner, I’m told. But I’ve never had the right partner before now.”

Kizzy turned her head to look at his face and was astounded to see he was telling the truth.

He leaned over and brushed his mouth over hers. A jolt of electricity zapped them both and Breed deepened the kiss. When he finally lifted his lips from hers, she looked stunned.

He smiled slightly then stood and pulled her to her feet. They both stepped into the running cascade of warm water and finished the shower. Breed turned off the water and opened the door. Grabbing each of them a towel he watched her as she dried herself off.

Then he took her hand and led her back to his bedroom. Grabbing clean clothes for himself, he got her a clean t-shirt and pair of shorts. They were way too big for her but it was all he had to offer her at the moment.

She stared at the black shirt in his hand and her face paled. “One of the men wore a shirt that looked like that. He was the one that tied me up.”

Breed halted and lowered the shirt, as she seemed to suddenly fall apart before his eyes.

“I-I forgot about it when I woke up here—yesterday.” She raised her tear filled gaze to him as her body shook.

  “The memory?” he asked.

She nodded as she wrung her hands together. “I saw something horrible and now, I am really afraid.”

“You are safe here,” he assured her.

“No, I won’t ever be safe again.”

“You need to believe me, we will—”

“You will all die!” she suddenly shouted.

He paused. “We are pretty good at protecting ourselves here.”

She trembled. “That MC that took me?”

He stilled at the mention of this. “Yeah?”

“They are hooked up to some really bad people.”

“Yeah, well they, themselves are no saints.”

Suddenly, she let out a whimpering cry and turned her head away.

Breed’s brow furrowed and he grabbed her turning her to face him. “What did you see?”

“No, if I tell you, then you will be in danger too.”

Breed smoothed her short blonde curls gently with his strong fingers. “Baby, you are already here. Anyone would think you told us already. Come on and sit down before you fall down.” He led her back to the bed and sat down with her.

Adjusting, her towel, she bit at her lips and swiped at a tear as she said one word, “Girls.”

He tilted his head slightly at this.

“Lots of girls, maybe a dozen, or so. They—” She burst out crying. “Oh, God…”

He held her close and patted her back as he realized a she might have actually seen the girls that had been taken recently. “Young girls?”

She nodded. “They looked like they were drugged. Some called out to me in whispers. ‘Help us,’ one said. Another couldn’t stop weeping. They were bruised up and looked like they were being starved. They were just kids!” She pushed her tear stained face into his chest. Then she raised her head to stare at him. “It’s odd now, that I remember her face.”

Breed’s whole body went rigid. “Whose face?”

“The girl who asked me for help. She looked a lot like… you. Except she didn’t have green eyes.”

Breed didn’t even breathe, as his heart seemed to stop in his chest. Shyla. “So you know where they are?”

Nodding, she raised her head from his chest. “They had me and the girls underground. Under the compound. That man, Blade said that I would be sent with this batch since he couldn’t get any money for me. I heard those girls from the next room the whole time I was there. I finally got out of the rope they tied me with then got out of the room they had me in. I stopped and listened at the door. I then peeked through a splintered part of the wood and saw them. One of them called out to me.”

Sucking in a breath, Breed sat up straighter on the bed.

With her eyes rounding, Kizzy stared at him. “What?”

He scooted off the bed. “We will call in the cops.”

She gasped. “NO! He has the ones in that town under his thumb. I saw two of them there through the crack in the door. He was paying them and they knew about the girls.”

“Well, we will get the federal marshals then.”

She wrung her hands. “But it will be too late.”

He stared down at her. “What do you mean?”

“Y-you said it was Friday? Right?”

He nodded. “Actually, it is Saturday now.”

She lowered her head and whispered, “Sunday. The girls will be gone.”

Breed stood up. “Fuck!” He grabbed his jeans and tugged them on then rushed to the door opening it, slamming it against the wall. He went down the hallway pounding on doors. “Get up fuckers! We gotta a raid!”

  Chapter Eight

  Decatur…

It was about two and half hours before dawn, when a diesel mac truck with a trailer turned out from the compound. It did a slow turn and got onto the main road. After about ten minutes, two cycles rode on each side when the road stretched out ahead and the single lanes turned into four.

Streetlights were still on as dawn hadn’t yet showed itself.

It might have been called a convoy to some.

  Yet, it wasn’t.

The mac truck driver watched the two cycles on either side of the long haul Peterbuilt he drove. He wasn’t wearing a uniform though, he wore a vest with the Hade’s Messenger patch. Hawk felt good about this haul. They were almost assured success and Blade had paid of the local cops to stay off this highway until this afternoon at least. They had darkness covering them and he had escorts. Not that he worried much as he did this journey once a month all the way to the meet up where they delivered their cargo to the cartel.
