was about to leave when Mark turned to me and asked me for last week’s notes. I mumbled something about asking the professor and was starting to leave when he asked me to stay as he wanted to talk.
Talk!
He did all the talking and I kept staring at him like a dope with no idea what to say. All other students had left and we were all alone in the class. He talked about Shelly and how he heard that we were friends. He then wanted to know why I was avoiding him.
I couldn’t say anything. I clutched my books to my chest and blinked. The words were in my mouth- Shelly had betrayed me. She had turned all my classmates and friends against me. She had stolen the boy I had a huge crush on.
But I couldn’t say any of that. My tongue was knotted in my mouth and my throat had closed in. I managed to open my mouth and then my courage gave away and I walked out the classroom.
He must think I’m such an idiot!
