  'All right.' The figure disappeared.

  Mona stood there for a second, thinking. Then she checked her gun was back in her holster, and picked up the spare handcuffs Wesley had brought back from the jail earlier.

  She went to open the front door. Oscar Tudor aka The Fixer stood before her, looking quite unlike his usual flamboyant self. His clothes were torn, dirty, and he was giving off a smell of horse manure.

  'How's my favourite Sheriff? I wonder if you can help me. I seem to have got into a spot of bother.'

  Keeping the handcuffs hidden behind her, she let the Chinese man in. This was the perfect end to an ultimately satisfying day. 'Oscar,' she said with a smile. 'Just the man I wanted to see.'
