“What?”
“There’s no contract for the milk.”
“Then what did you mean when you said, ‘the milk is yours’?”
He smiles, the look of an achiever who has pulled off a careful plan, a long-game with moving parts and risks that don’t pay off until the end. I know that smile.
I adore that smile.
“It’s yours.”
“Ian!” I smack his chest lightly. “What does that mean?”
He lifts me off him, then stands, offering a hand, our palms grasping as I join him upright, the sun glinting on my new ring, making me smile even harder. His arm goes around my shoulders and he rotates our bodies in a panoramic arc, looking over the beautiful land. A wind kicks up, blowing my hair behind me, everything so fresh, so old and new at the same time. Green, lush hills roll out before us, begging to be admired for what they are: pure, true, authentic.
Then he kisses my cheek and whispers, “The milk is yours because I bought the farm for us. Welcome home.”

Acknowledgments
I have to thank a lot of people for their help while I was writing Hasty. Half of this book was written as COVID created a lockdown situation, and as my husband experienced a harrowing set of health issues.
I won’t go into detail, as you’re reading a romantic comedy and who wants to be in a sad mood? Let’s just say I am deeply grateful to a wide range of people in my life who helped me as I wrote this book.
You know who you are. <3
And writing romantic comedy gave me a world to escape into. I hope you get that same escape as you read about rabbit breastmilk and the kind of glove you wear to birth a cow. :)

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Julia Kent writes romantic comedy with an edge. Since 2013, she has sold more than 2 million books, with 4 New York Times bestsellers and more than 21 appearances on the USA Today bestseller list. Her books have been translated into French and German, with more titles releasing in the future.
From billionaires to BBWs to new adult rock stars, Julia finds a sensual, goofy joy in every contemporary romance she writes. Unlike Shannon from Shopping for a Billionaire, she did not meet her husband after dropping her phone in a men's room toilet (and he isn't a billionaire she met in a romantic comedy).
She lives in New England with her husband and three children where she is the only person in the household with the gene required to change empty toilet paper rolls.
She loves to hear from her readers online.
