Just Desserts Page 20

“We haven’t properly broken in this counter top yet.” Liam pulled me to the edge and ran his hands up my thighs.

“And we’re not going to. Not right now, with everyone right outside the very thin walls.” I pulled his face up to kiss his mouth, letting my tongue wander in teasing circles on the inside of his mouth.

He groaned into my mouth but eased back a little. “Then I guess I’ll give you your housewarming present.”

I rolled my eyes. “You don’t buy me a housewarming gift, silly. You’re moving in with me.”

“Then just call it a surprise.” He reached into the drawer to his left and pulled out some kind of remote control. His thumb moved over a button, and the entire house was flooded with music.

“You put in a sound system?” I held his face and kissed him, hard. “I love it. When did you do it?”

“Last week, while you were at the agency. Drew, that cop down the block, he helped me.”

I smiled as Sinatra crooned about the way I looked tonight. Liam skimmed his fingers over my knees, teasing between my thighs. “Does this make you want to have a quickie right here, right now?”

I laughed. “I want, yes. Not now. But later. Definitely later.”

“Is that a promise?” He moved his lips down my neck, over to my ear, whispering until I shivered.

  “Oh, yes. I promise.”

Writing Ava and Liam’s story was scary, even after so many wonderful bloggers and reviewers told me that they couldn’t wait to read this book. I wasn’t sure Liam was redeemable, but dang if he didn’t prove me wrong.

Thanks to my fantabulous team at PBT and Hayson for helping me with every little thing. Mandie and Amanda, you keep me going when I swear I can’t, and I love you both for it. Stacey and Jen, thank you for your support every day! All the PBT bloggers ... I always tell people you’re the best in the business. It’s the truth.

Stephanie Nelson came through once again with another amazing cover, and Stacey Blake made my pages so pretty. Amanda, your editing makes me laugh and keeps me on the straight and narrow. Thank you all!

My lovelies at Romantic Edge Books challenge me to be better, to strive harder and reach for the stars. I love you, ladies!

Olivia, thank you for being there for me no matter what, no matter when. So proud to be your friend!

My family has by now gotten used to the craziness of a writing mama. I get a little snarly at the end, but still ... it seems they still like me. Thanks especially to my daughter Haley and my son David who have stepped up to help me have more writing time. David, you are my number one assistant at events, too ... proud of you, always!

To my readers ... each message, each post, each review makes me smile. You truly make my world go round. Thank you for sticking by me. Rum cake and limoncello all around!
