One by one, the crowd bowed their heads as a sign of respect. Shane was very much not one for those kinds of displays so, instead of waiting for them to finish, he opened his robe, dropped it to the ground, and took three steps forward before shifting into his tiger, his roar echoing through the mountains.
Noah kissed me soundly before doing the same, and I followed suit. The run had officially begun.
We ran and ran and, true to my description, ran until we couldn’t run anymore, the advice about Sal very helpful along the way.
As we got back, we shifted one by one and were greeted by a feast. We laughed and ate and chatted. It was wonderful. And—very barbecue-like. I wondered briefly if that was what our vision had been about—a run, meaning Gina might be part of our cackle at some point. I brushed it aside quickly. What would be would be. For the moment, she was happy where she was, and that was all that mattered.
“I’m tired.” Shane made a big show of yawning. “I think I need to go to bed. Night all.”
He held his hand out for both of us, both of us replying by shaking our heads as we took them, leaving the after-run festivities still going strong.
“Very subtle,” Noah joshed as we climbed the stairs.
“Wasn’t trying to be.” Because—Shane.
“Yeah, I got that.” Noah leaned in giving him a peck. “What’s the rush? You usually like to stick around until the night winds down.”
I could see that about him. Shane loved his clan and, while he was progressive enough to know that living where they wanted to was better for everyone, his lion longed to have them near. It was why he hosted dinners and meetings. And why he was so good at what he did.
“I usually don’t have a vision mid-sandwich.” He shrugged as we reached the door to our bedroom. He walked on in and removed his robe before climbing onto the bed. Even if we hadn’t been enveloped in pheromones the entire trip home, we’d have known what he was thinking, his cock standing loud and proud.
“What kind of vision?” I asked as I dropped my robe, crossing my fingers it was a dirty dirty vision with me front and center.
“I saw the next run.”
Or that. I joined him on the bed wondering what about the next run had him acting that way.
“In a hurry to get planning?” And then Noah dropped his robe. All of us were blissfully naked. As we should be.
“Not that as much as—” He purposely dropped off his sentence.
“As?” I so took the bait, since whatever it was had us home and naked, so probably worth the game.
“You weren’t running,” he deadpanned.
“I get stuck with kid duty second time out. Your rotation system sucks.” I’d felt bad for the women not running so they could watch kids, especially since it was exclusively woman, but fair was fair. I guessed.
“No, you weren’t there to watch the kids, although you seemed to be having fun playing with them.” He winked as Noah’s arms wrapped around me.
The only other women there were—
“I was—” I didn’t want to hope it out loud, but if there was a chance he was saying what I thought he was saying, I needed to know.
“You were and, from the looks of your slight baby bump, you were either having twins or we need to work on making that happen. Stat.”
“You just want to get laid.” I gave him a kiss on our mating mark, followed by one on one of the many Noah had given him, trying not to squee at the news he’d just given me. I was going to become a mom.
“Heck yeah I do.” His arm wrapped around me before pulling me on his lap so his lips could own mine.
“Me, too.” Noah tapped on our shoulders before kissing us both soundly.
“Let’s go.” I climbed off the bed, taking the stance Noah liked to take as we started most of our bedroom—living room—kitchen—all the places fun. “We can try that thing.”
“Explain.” Noah became all serious, and Shane was practically bouncing in his seat.
“Not a chance, Noah. You already promised me tonight was mine.” Fine. I was taking it completely out of context, but it was fun, so why not.
“I meant because of the alpha female thing.” He sighed, and I knew his surrender was near.
“So you don’t want me to choose what parts go where?” I asked, hands on hips. “Because I have it all worked out in my head. I could even provide sketches if need be.”
“She’s going to be the death of us.” Shane fell back on the bed with a groan.
“I can’t think of a better way to go.” Shane yanked me onto the bed with him, and all thoughts of sketches, running, and everything but the three of us fell by the wayside.
Win—win—win.
