She had decided not to keep the farm after everything that had happened. Since Lucy didn’t want any part of it, she decided that she just wanted to live the peaceful life of the town librarian. Somehow, I couldn’t see her living the peaceful life now that she’d had a taste of adventure. Her father was doing great in his new home and Claire was more relaxed knowing that he was safe and she didn’t have to make sure someone was always there looking after him. I was just happy that she wasn’t so tense all the time.
I stepped into the library and my eyes zeroed in on Claire. She was busy at the circulation desk, sorting through books. I snuck up to the second floor balcony and rigged up my rope and pulley that I had gotten specially for tonight. In my Batman outfit and mask, I climbed over the edge of the balcony with the rope and slid down to right in front of her. She jumped back in surprise and then a grin lit up her face.
“Care to take a ride in my BatMobile?”
