Everyone nodded their heads in agreement, and by the end of the meeting, all seven of them had given back a portion of their bonus.
After work, Summer picked Myla up from the sidewalk outside of her building. They were having dinner with Myla’s mother and then later meeting Eddie, Taryn, Vanessa and Kelly for a drink and dancing. Taryn had whined a little about Kelly being invited, but Summer told her that she better get used to it. She was Myla’s friend and although she didn’t see what they had in common, they weren’t going to exclude her. Then Summer reminded her that Vanessa would be there and she smiled again, hoping to get at least one dance from the shy woman.
By ten o’clock Myla was ordering a drink for everyone at the bar with Kelly’s help. When Myla sat down next to Summer, she gave her a quick kiss before taking a huge gulp of her beer. “Mom really likes you.”
“Does the other Allen woman really like me too?”
“Very much so.” Myla said taking her hand and holding it on the table.
“Myla, has Summer told you the news?”
“No, but I am certainly interested. What’s going on?” Myla asked looking from Eddie to Summer.
“Summer is having a gym installed in our building. She was going to pay for it out of pocket,” Eddie sputtered out before Summer could cover his mouth.
“Hey, I thought you said it was money you set aside that was just sitting there gaining interest.” Taryn was stunned by the news. “Summer, it’s too much.”
Summer held up her hand and glared at Eddie for revealing her secret. “I want to do it and I will benefit from it too. I could just buy equipment for my house but I wanted everyone to enjoy it.”
With that Summer stood from the table and pulled Myla on the dance floor. They were both quiet at first staring into one another’s eyes. When Summer pulled her closer, Myla squeezed her hand and whispered into her ear. “You are amazing. How did I get so lucky to have found you again?”
Summer looked into her eyes and pressed her lips to Myla’s, not caring that people were dancing around them. When they pulled apart, Summer responded “I’m glad that we found each other, and I want to give you all of my Saturdays.”
“Damn, how do you make me want you so much?” Myla said with her face flushed from being so close. “Want to get out of here?”
Summer laughed and then gave her a quick kiss. “Lead the way.”
