"Well, I will have my Mail Order Bride for Christmas without so much as putting pen to paper and like Jake said, the best cook in the county to boot."
"If you didn't already have a sore head I'd throw something at you Harald Larson." She kissed his cheek instead.
Ingrid frowned. "It's going to be very busy around here Harald. When would we find time to get married... and I don't have a dress..."
"I expect Abigail could organize something. But seriously, I was thinking of the evening when everyone will be at the schoolhouse for the children's Christmas singing. Everyone will be gathered together in fellowship to celebrate the birth of Jesus and what better occasion for us to celebrate the start of our lives together as well. I don't think clothes, or even the building are all that important, but being with a group of good people to share our happiness with, does."
Ingrid wiped away a stray tear. "That is a beautiful idea Harald. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, and after everything that's happened, an evening of fellowship in God's presence is the perfect way to start. I'll go and speak to the Pastor and Abigail later, if they don't come to see you today. You are a wonderful man and I can't tell you how happy I am... especially that you have such a thick skull."
Harald laughed and made to throw a pillow at her but it hurt his head. "I can see us telling that story to our children."
"Me too. Now why don't you try and sleep for a while and I'll see to things downstairs. Everyone wants to know how you are doing and then there's the baking and those beautiful little rose soaps look like being the perfect gift... I'll have to arrange them into an attractive display..."
"I trust you to do whatever you think best in the store, my lovely one."
Ingrid sat beside him and took his face in her hands and then kissed him gently on his eyelids.
"You can keep doing that... it's easing my headache.. We must tell the Doc we found a new cure for headaches."
"Much as I'd like to stay here, I have to go downstairs. I want the store to be perfect for you when you come down later. Sweet dreams my love."
"I love you Ingrid, now and forever."
"And I you."
