Blue Moon Page 8

by Danielle Sanderson

“I wanted to check on you, Dorothy told me you were badly hurt.”

“Uh yeah, I’m ok, thank you for sending her to me. What is your name?” I ask with a soft frown.

“My name is Eric. Sit with me child.” He tells me as he leads me to the edge of the bed where we sit, still hand in hand.

“Tell me, what would make you happy, right now?”

“To get Dallah away from Richard,” I tell him the truth, as I can feel him looking at me so deeply that he must already know.

“If I could help you, you would be happy?” He asks with a nod of his head.

“I would be more than happy, but why do you keep trying to help me?”

“I care for you child, you should not be in pain, you do not deserve what has happened to you, but this will all lead you to your destiny, do you understand?” He asks while caressing my cheek with the back of his fingers lovingly.

“Yes, I do. I’m trying to be strong.” I tell him, for some reason I want him to know that.

“I know that child. I will help you, but again, I can’t stress enough how important it is you find your chosen when this ends.”

“Ok.” I tell him, but I could not care less about finding him.

“There is a book, ‘The Book of Kartam’ it is a book that has survived thousands of years, it is in the possession of the Prince. He does not know the words it holds, as only an ancestor of the person who wrote the book could read from it. In this book is a spell that will weaken the Power of the Dark Prince for one minute, and one minute only. At this minute he will be powerless, meaning he can be killed, if he is not, he will take the power of the one he is to bond with. The spell has to be spoken on the blue moon, and by the ancestor, this is the only way out of the bonding.”

“Who is the ancestor?” I ask, as I hold his hand tightly so he doesn’t disappear.

“It is you child, you are the ancestor, that is all I can tell you on the matter. You will be the only one to read the words the page holds, they will be whispered on a blue moon.”

“You’re shitting me! Ok, I will freak out later. How do I get the book, what if I can’t read it, when is the blue moon?”

“I shit you not,” He says with a wonderful grin, “The blue moon is the night of the bonding, you will have to read the words as he stands with his Princess. You will read it perfectly; when the words leave your lips you will see the blue light form around his heart, this is where he shall be stabbed.”

Oh, shit! I have to stab him as well? Uh, how will I ever get away with this, it sounds simple, but I’m guessing it won’t be.

“Ok, is there a special blade?” I ask, making him smile widely.

“There will be a spell in the book for the dagger you choose. You cannot be the one to pierce the heart child, it must another.”

“Right, and when he is dead, she will be freed?”

“From the Dark one, yes. I have to leave now, find the book, enchant the dagger, learn the words of the spell to perfection, and speak them from your heart and child, use the power you have, stop holding back, a broken heart won’t kill you, it will make you stronger.”

  “Hey.”

“WHHOOOFUKASHITFUK!” I scream as the door fly’s open and Dallah stands with a confused look on her face, as do the three girls that are looking around the room then back to me.

He is gone! I wanted him to stay; I wanted him to explain everything to me again so I don’t fuck this up. Whom am I going to ask to stab Richard, to kill him? Where am I going to get a dagger? That’s if I can even find the goddamn book. Richard will never give it to me. Then there is the whole 'use your power', if I had it I would use it! Moreover, I owe Eric my life. One day I will find a way to repay him for all he has done for me.

“Zara what’s wrong?” Dallah asks, looking at with concern.

“Oh, I was just daydreaming, and got a little jumpy. Hey, you must be Dallah’s cousins, It’s a lovely to meet you, I’m Zara” I say jumping off the bed, politely smiling at her cousins.

“Hey Zara, I’m Laura, this is Hydie and she is Sarah,” She says pointing to her sisters. She is a beautiful girl, they all are, but I suppose that as triplets they would all be as beautiful as each other. They all have long chestnut colored hair, Laura, who spoke, has on a green dress, the same shade as her eyes. Hydie has her hair styled with curls, which is the only way I will tell her apart from her sisters. Sarah is definitely the bitchy one out of them all, as she looks at me up and down in distaste.

“Ok, well now we have all met, I’ll show you to your room to get settled and we will meet up in an hour?”

“Ok cool. Where is that gorgeous Prince of yours Dallah, I can’t wait to see his fine ass,” Laura asks with a mischievous smirk.

Oh jeez, is this girl for real! How can she speak of Richard in that way, knowing that he is putting Dallah through hell?

“I don’t know, but you will see him this evening anyway, Laura.” Dallah tells her in a sigh.

“Lighten up Dallah, you’re about to bond with the most eligible supernatural being on earth,” Laura says believing herself. I laugh aloud, getting frowns from them all, but not Dallah she gives me a grateful look.

Dallah leaves with her cousins in tow, while I jump back on the bed and let the last 15 minutes catch up with me. More than anything I need to find this book ASAP. I have the biggest grin on my face right now; I cannot believe there is a way out of this. I don’t want to kill Richard, but if it means saving Dallah from a life of heartache, pain, and misery, then it shall be done.

An hour later, sat at the secret bar that Dallah and I got drunk at last night is, Sarah, Hydie, Laura, Dallah, and me. We decided to get the girls alone and speak with them so that we can be a little more acquainted. We have a jug of cocktail that Dallah and I mixed together with a bit of everything from the bar.

“So are you looking forward to the bonding?” Laura asks Dallah.

“You know that I’m not!” Dallah tells her sharply with an eye roll.

“Cool, so you won’t mind if I make a pass at him then?”

“Please be my guest.” Dallah tells her honestly.

“So Zara, how do you know Dallah?” Sarah asks.

“A friend of a friend.” I tell her with a smile.

“Right, well that’s bullshit; Dallah doesn’t associate with anyone but Witch’s and Warlock’s.” She tells me rudely, while looking at me with a raised brow.

“Well, you don’t know her as well as you think then, do you?” I tell her with a smile still in place, which noticeably pisses her off.

“Ok, let’s finish these, get ready, and find us some sexy men,” Laura says, clapping her hands and getting up from the table, soon followed by Sara as they down their drinks.

“Hydie, come on!” Sarah tells her as if she is a child.

“No, I’m going to hang here for a while, I’ll see you guys later.” Hydie tells them. They leave the room, slamming the door behind them, clearly annoyed with their sister’s choice to stay.

“I’m sorry about them.” She tells us both.

“You don’t need to apologies, I know what their like.” Dallah tells her with a smile.

“So Zara are you with anyone?” She asks me with a sweet smile.

“No, not any more, how about you?”

“Oh, cheating boyfriend, sorry about that. No, I haven’t found the right man yet.”

“How did you know?” I ask in disbelief.

“Well, it’s my power, I ask a question and I see a flash of images of what you were thinking of. I wasn’t doing it on purpose, I can’t help it, you will see that’s why I don’t talk a great deal.” She tells us in a sad tone.

“Oh no, that’s ok. I think it’s a brilliant power.” I tell her with a reassuring smile.

“It really is Hydie, stop hiding behind those sisters of yours, this is the first time I have ever seen you away from them. It will do you good, people will get to see the real you.” Dallah tells her as she squeeze
s her hand in reassurance.

“I know. I wanted to apologize for all the times I stood there and let them be mean to you, but I want you to know that I have changed.”

“Oh sweetie, don’t you worry about that, I never lost any sleep,” Dallah tells her with a laugh and lightening the mood.

“I can see you’re dreading the bonding, but maybe Laura will get her claws into Richard this time round, and save you from it.” Hydie says before taking a sip of her cocktail.

“Yeah, that would be great wouldn’t it, but she has been flirting outrageously with him for years, and unfortunately not got even close, I just don’t think it’s going to work.” Dallah tells her with a sigh.

Everyone in the Light Coven knows that Dallah is dreading the day of the bonding; they are sad to see her go and love her for her selfless sacrifice. Because without it, Richard would rage war upon them to gain more power, but with the Bonding to their powerful Princess he will become the most powerful Warlock to ever live, thus preventing needless bloodshed of her people. This is what Dallah has explained to me.

“What about you Zara, do you like Richard.”

I raise my eyebrow at her, as I now know that she sees the images of what I think of him.

“Shit! What a bastard.” She says, full of sympathy for me.

“What!” Dallah shouts, wanting to know why she said that.

“Oh nothing bad, I just mean she really doesn’t like him.” She tells Dallah, smiling and hoping to convince her, which luckily works as we both watch her relax.

This girl has just saved me from having to tell Dallah why I lied to her about what Richard has put me through. Thank god it’s only Hydie with the power to read minds, and not one of her bitchy sisters; they would love to stir up trouble, I know they would.

I smile my thanks to her subtly, which she returns.

As Dallah and I make our way back to her bedroom, I lie telling her that I am going to find Theo and speak with him, where really I am going to sneak into Richards’s room and have a snoop about for this book, but Dallah doesn’t, and cannot know about it. She would flip out big time, tell me how stupid it is, and most likely tie me to a chair. I know it’s risky, but desperate times call for desperate measures, or so they say.

As I step up to Richard's door, I put my ear to the door to see if I can hear anything...nothing. I then knock on the door, just to make sure he is definitely not in there, again nothing. The doors are locked by a spell that only opens for the person, or people that it is meant to, so now my problem is getting in. I’m going to put my hidden powers to the test! I imagine the door clicking open and... Nothing, damn it!

“Oh come on, open up!” I plead to the door.

Just like that, I hear a click and the door swings open banging against the wall making me jump. I cannot believe it, it actually worked.

Walking nervously into Richard’s room, I do a quick check, making sure he isn’t asleep in bed, or in the shower.

Where would an evil bastard like Richard hide this book? Does he even know what power it holds? Moreover, where did he get it?

I walk over to his bedside cabinets and have a peek inside, but they are completely empty, strange. Walking into the room that's connected by a door, I see that it is a living area, there is a big flat screen television, large leather couches, and in the middle of the room is a dancing pole! Oh kinky! I should have known after all he does like to tie people up, I think with a little giggle. There are two large paintings either side of the television, so I have a look behind them for a wall safe, nothing! It was a long shot. He must have somewhere in the palace where he keeps all of his personal belongings. He only has suits, shoes and underwear, no CD’s, no photos, not one personal item what so ever, in fact the place looks as if it has never been used.

Just before I go, I’ll have a little look under the bed, again it’s a long shot, but I want to make sure that I have looked everywhere, because I can’t risk coming back.

Crawling under the bed a little, I see a small brown leather box; I wonder if it’s a jewellery box? It can’t be the book I’m looking for, as it’s too small. I really want to open it, but I don’t want to risk being here any longer then I have to. Crawling out, when suddenly my ankles are gripped by strong hands, and I’m dragged out from under the bed. I scream as I’m flipped onto my back. Damn It! Richard’s caught me!

“Hey, um...how are you.” I ask trying to smile, looking up at him. He is smiling at me, making me do a double take. I have just broke into his bedroom and been found under his bed and he is smiling at me.

“What are you doing Zara?” He asks raising a brow.

“Looking for you of course,” I tell him as I lean on my elbows, reading myself to get up. Suddenly he is sitting on me, but keeping his weight on his knees and his hands that are now next to my head, with his face only inches away from mine.

“Under the bed?” He asks sarcastically.

“Yeah,” I say shaking my head to him, while looking anywhere but into his black eyes, my heart starts pounding in my chest as I start to feel nervous. Is he going to teach me a lesson or try to have his way with me!

“Do you want to get up Zara?” He asks with a smirk.

Wow, I never realised he smelt so nice, and the smile on his face makes him look very handsome. NO! What am I doing, I cannot think things like that about him, he is a vile monster. Nevertheless, my heart will not stop racing as he gazes at my lips with a look of hunger, he is so close he must be able to hear my heart pounding.

“Yes, it’s kinda uncomfortable here.” I tell him as I lean forward wanting to sit up, the only trouble is he doesn’t move one bit.

“Um, can you move please?” I ask politely, as I did just break into his room, I don’t want to push my luck.

“No, I want to know the real reason you where here, then you can get up,” He says moving his face in front of mine, and practically talking on my lips. I uncontrollably lean my head into him slightly. What the hell is happening to me! I know that I will feel attraction to the Warriors, even fall in love with them, but not Richard, I hate him.

“Get off me and I will speak to you.” I tell him getting agitated.

“No, no, that’s not how it works; you are here in my room, under my bed, so you will answer my questions. Now, how did you get in, and what are you looking for?” He asks while pushing me down so that I’m now lying flat on my back with him on top of me, then feeling panic as his hardness grinds into me.

“I was...I...Please Richard this is stupid let me up!” I ask with desperation, I cannot think straight with him this close. My body betraying me as my nipples harden at the contact, my emotions flooding my senses I just want to leave, how can my body react this way to a monster like Richard?

“Zara, How did you get in, what are you looking for?” He repeats again in a calming tone, trying to coax me into confessing.

“Goddamn it! Its embarrassing ok, I was looking for my bra that I left here the other night, after that Vamp got all hungry and horny, and you let me shower and sleep here. I got in by giving the door a little nudge and that’s that,” I tell him with the most believable voice I can manage under these circumstances.

“Why?” He asks, actually believing me. Yes!

“I have nothing of my own here, and Dallah has um...it doesn’t matter. I can’t breathe so get off me!” I plead.

“Ok.” He tells me, yet making no effort in moving.

“Ok, then get off!” I tell him annoyed while pushing at his chest.

“For a kiss?” He asks with a grin.

“What the hell! No! Get off me now! What is wrong with you, oh my god, are you drunk?”

He really is drunk; I cannot believe that I have only just noticed! No wonder he is acting so out of character.

“I am. Now to get up you will have to pay the toll, a kiss.” He says cheekily. What is going on, it’s like being with one of the Brothers’ or Angus, who would have thought that Richard had a different side.<

“I’m not going to kiss you Richard; I’ll stay here all night if I have to.” I tell him whilst trying hard not to laugh at the face he is pulling, what is wrong with me!

“Ok, I’m easy.” He says as he lays his forehead to mine and closes his eyes.

“What, you’re not serious, get the fuck up!”

  “I like you Zara.”

I let the laugh escape me, just as he opens his eyes to look at me once again, his midnight eyes glaring back at me.

  “What?” He asks not understanding.

“You’re a prick you know that. You beat me, and then arranged someone else to have a go, and for all I know, it was you that got the Vamp to attack me that night,” I shout at him frantically, while mustering all the strength I have, through my anger. It works, I manage to push him off me, so I roll on to my side and scramble to my feet.

“You’re a tease, I saw the way you were looking at me, I was only trying to help you out, give you what you wanted.”

“You are unbelievable! So fucking arrogant! I don’t want you, and I never will. If you wanted to give me what I wanted, then you would release Dallah from this bonding,” I shout at him, my temper rising.

He stumbles towards me, trapping me against the bedroom door. With his hands out, and laughing, he grabs me in a bear like grip, as I push against him and twist in his hands, his grip tightens.

“You know I’m feeling a little bored, maybe I should find little Dallah and show her how her life will be from now on.” He tells me shrugging his shoulders.

“You’re evil Richard!” I tell him as the anger comes again, giving me the strength to push him away from me, “You can’t use me like that, are you really so cold! So vile?” I spit at him boldly.

“I am the Dark Prince, that makes me pretty evil, wouldn’t you say? I will give you the choice, leave now and I will collect Dallah from her room, take her to my favourite room in the Palace, and have her beaten black and blue, or...You kiss me like you would the dear Parrise?”
