Blue Moon Page 15

by Danielle Sanderson

Walking into Dallah’s bedroom, I sit at her vanity table, as I capture my reflection in the mirror. I feel and look different, not in my face, or my body, but in my eyes, they cannot help but show the hurt, the anger within. It is true what they say; the eyes are the mirror to your soul.

Why am I doing this to myself, leaving the real me behind? The Brothers’ need me to show them love and tenderness, but I feel trapped. I am surrounded by people who love me, care for me, but I feel lonely, and that scares me.

I don’t care what this world thinks of me, but Richard, I want him to see me as strong, fearless. Forgetting about the consequences, I will take him down, just as he has tried to do to me.

Den has drained the last of my love, I feel stupid and pathetic for ever being in love with him. I want to forget him, but it’s hard to forget someone who gave you so much to remember.

There is a knock at the door, breaking my train of thought.

  “Who is it?”

  “Dom.”

Jumping up from the chair, I rush to the door and pull it open.

“Hey you,” I say to him with a smile.

“Zara? What's wrong?” He asks searching my eyes eagerly for the truth.

“I’m ok Dom. I just can’t wait to get home,” I tell him whilst pulling him into the bedroom and shutting the door behind him.

“So you’re not upset that Dallah will be bonded to Richard?”

“No, she won’t be bonded to him,” I tell him confidently.

“I knew you were up to something, which is good, because we have been going crazy with strategies, we just need to find a chink in his armor, and then we can take that son of a bitch down.” He tells me with stress playing on his handsome face.

“I need your help Dom; will you help me with something?”

“Yeah, what is it?” He asks with a grin.

“I need to find a dagger.”

“Dagger! What for?” He asks with worry, as he probably thinks that I’m going to rush at Richard with it, he wouldn’t be far off.

“It's ok Dom, just trust me, I know what I’m doing, this could be that chink we need.”

“Ok, come on then,” He stands up pulling me with him.

  “Where are we going?”

“To get you a dagger,” He tells me simply as we exit the bedroom and head off down the long hallway to his room.

Entering his bedroom, he closes the door, and looks around before pulling a duffel bag from the wardrobe.

“Come here Zara,” He tells me from where he is bent on his knees looking into the bag.

Rushing over, I crouch down to look inside,

“Holly shit GI Dom!” I jokingly nickname him, seeing his stash.

He has guns, knife’s grenades; everything you could want to do some serious damage with is all under his bed.

“You will find a dagger in there,” He tells me with a smirk.

“No shit. What are you planning on doing with all this?”

“Just a precaution, nothing for you to worry about,”

“Uh huh, I believe you, many wouldn’t,” I tell him with a grin.

Scanning through the bag of weapons something catches my eye and as I put my hand inside to take a hold of it, I start to feel really hot and dizzy.

“Dom I ...” this is when darkness takes me.

“ZARA!” I hear Dom’s voice call to me, but I cannot see him, I am surrounded by a white hazy light.

“Dom?” I moan through the pain in my head, I feel like I’m coming around from concussion.

“Daughter, come to me, relax and let me take you,” A woman’s gentle voice coaxes.

Looking around I try to breathe through the dizziness. As soon as I take a deep breath and force myself to relax, I see the image of a woman sitting on the edge of a stunning water fountain, with a statue in the middle of a naked woman holding an infant.

“Where am I?” I ask her gently.

My mouth opens slowly when I get to see her clearly. Her beauty is mesmerizing, she is dressed in a soft pink flowing gown, she is wearing a headdress like the one Dallah gifted me, her hair is much like mine, blond loose curls that stop under her breasts and her eyes are a honey brown, she is magnificent.

“You are with your family here.”

“Family?” I ask in shock, but won’t believe her if she says yes.

“Yes. You are my daughter and I am your mother, but I did not give birth to you.” She says as she stands up and holds out her hands for me to place mine in, which I do eagerly.

“My mother!” I ask in shock, while my eyes take in the wonder of the paradise around us.

“Yes, I am your mother, and I have been waiting for this moment for many years now”

“I have a mother? Why am I here?” I say in a cry as she strokes my hair lovingly.

“You are here because I worry for you Zara, so much has happened in such a small amount of time. I made you as a gift to the supernatural world, but more so, I made you from love. I have always been with you daughter, you see, I didn’t want to get involved in your life, for you to love me then have to leave me to be with your new family. Because that is where you belong daughter, I could be selfish and keep you with me, here, but that is no life for a Charmer.

“What are you?” I ask in jagged breaths.

“I do not live on this earth, but here, in heaven. I am part Angel and part Charm, like you. I need you to trust in what you do, whom you love, as he will be the one to free you.”

“I don’t want to love,” I tell her as tears fall down my cheeks, from the utter splendor of her, and being here, in heaven!

“Yes, you do, you want to love and be loved by him, but he is losing hope. The Princess I picked for you, doubts herself as your sister. Speak the words, take the heart and free her soul.” My mother tells me while wiping away my tears.

“I’m scared,” I tell her with honesty and for the first time since being here I tell someone how I really feel, which is afraid and scared that I will not live up to expectation.

“I know daughter,” she tells me as she kisses my cheek, and wipes her own tears.

“You are so strong, I am so proud of the woman you have become. I have to send you back now Daughter.”

“How will I see you again,” I ask, looking at her in the eye.

“Very rarely can I bring you here; this is why I have waited so long. You need to go now, your brother waits for your return,”

“No, don’t send me back, let me stay longer?” I plead with her, but as I speak, her body starts to shimmer away.

“Please don’t leave me! Let me stay longer! Don’t leave me, I’m scared!” I cry to her, needing her to let me stay, to get to know my mother, to look at her face longer so that it imprints on my mind. Nevertheless, she has gone and the smell of the palace hits my nose and my eyes open of their own regard.

“Zara, what’s going on?” Dom asks, looking fearful for me.

I throw myself onto him and hold him tightly, needing him to be there.

“What are you scared of Zara? Where did you go?” He asks me with confusion on his face.

  “I was... she is...”

“Don’t try and talk, it’s ok; just let me hold you babe, when the time is right, I want you to trust in me. I love you Zara so much. Don’t be scared, you have us all with you, forever.” He tells me, holding me tightly.

How the hell does someone have a mother that is part Angel and part ‘Charm’, which makes me the Charmer? Can she even come down to earth? My head is going to explode, every day something new is unearthing, however, this blows every other day out of the water.

Lifting my head up to look at Dom, I suddenly remember my mother telling me that my brother was waiting, was she speaking of Dom.

It’s not as if I can come out and ask him, I’m sure if he were, he wouldn’t even know himself. Then my family will be that of my chosen, or can I really choose whom I want in my life, my family.

Going to rub my eyes, I look
down at the cool, heavy object in my hand. It’s a dagger! It’s gold, with the same markings as the ones that cover my body.

“Where did you get that?” Dom asks in amazement.

  “Is it not yours?”

“No,” He tells me while looking down at it in awe.

“I know you’re different Zara, don’t explain, though I have a feeling you’re keeping this secret for a reason. Just let me be there for you k?” He tells me lovingly. He doesn’t care that I have secrets, he just cares that I am safe, which warms my heart.

“Always Dom and I will always be with you.” I tell him kissing his cheek.

Looking back down at the dagger, I’m overwhelmed with what I just went through, but I need to keep in mind why my mother came to me. I need to save Dallah from a life of misery, that is what comes first.

“I have to go Dom, there is something I need to do,” I tell him regrettably.

“And I can’t come with you?” He asks sadly.

“I’ll be fine, I promise,” I tell him with a smile.

“You're so beautiful Zara, inside and out, pure perfection,” He tells me studying my face as if he sees me in a new light.

Well, you want to see my mother then! That is what I would like to say, but I will leave it for another day, I need to find Dallah.

“Dom, please don’t tell anyone that I said I’m scared, I don’t want them to worry more,” I plead with him.

“I would never, if you weren’t scared I would worry, it’s not wrong to be afraid,” He tells me, kissing my head and looking deeply into my eyes before letting me leave.

“Dallah, you won’t believe this but I have a mum...ber, from... a gorgeous man...down stairs!”

SHIT! Den is sitting with her on the fucking balcony, why did I not wait to see if she was alone! Goddamn it!

“Good for you! I’m off, see you tonight Dallah,” Den tells her while walking past me with a sigh and a look of loathing.

When the door slams shut, I take the seat that Den vacated with a loud sigh.

“Mumber?” Dallah asks with a smirk.

“No, I just meet my mother, who is part Charm, part Angel. Dallah, she is amazing, you would not believe how stunning she is,” I tell her smiling like the village idiot.

“Have you been drinking?” She asks, looking at me with a raised brow.

“No! I swear it’s true!” I tell her pleading with her to believe me.

“What, down stairs?” She asks leaning forward.

I sit and tell her what happened, step by step, and word for word. When I finish, she looks upon me with soft eyes as she takes my hand in hers.

“I knew there was something else, but I didn’t want to freak you out, but part Angel...I mean...wow!” She says and goes quiet, just studying my face.

“Dallah, snap out of it! I’m still the same person, just because my mother is an Angel doesn’t mean that I am.”

“I know, but the thing is...you are, you are part Angel! Oh goddess, we need make sure no one finds out, EVER. This is serious Zara; if anyone were to find out, you would be ripped apart. Angels are feared by all the supernatural, as they carry strength and power like no other, you are now linked to your God, and also Lucifer, on top of being the Charmer!” She screeches and jumps up in a panic.

“I think you’re blowing this out of proportion Dallah, my mother is half Angel, half Charm. So that makes me like one-forth, but like you said months ago, ‘I’m the Charmer that is my gift’” I try to convince her.

“The book you have, you can read it because it was written by an Angel! You need to learn the words and put it back Zara, you can’t be found with the book!”

“Shit Dallah, calm down! I can handle this. I will put the book back as soon as I have what I need, no one will know that I had it, I promise. Hey, you told me that Werewolves can see what you are by the shade of your eyes, the Brothers’ surely would have known if I was part Angel,” I tell her trying to get her to stop her from wearing a hole in the carpet with worry. She stops and looks me straight in the eye,

“Yeah, they would know wouldn’t they?” She asks still looking a little panicked.

“Yeah they would, now come here you crazy little Witch,” I tell her cheekily with my arms held out to her. She walks to me hugging me back with love.

“I need you Zara, please stop putting yourself in danger, and no more surprises ok?”

“I know, and no more surprises, just don’t take me to the sea!”

“Why?” she asks pulling herself from my arms with a look of concern.

“Oh, you wouldn’t want to see me as a mermaid!” I laugh at her for almost falling for it, as I run and jump on the bed.

She lifts me off the bed so that I am levitating close to the high ceiling, and she starts to move me up and down with amazing speed. The laughter rips from me as I see Dallah laughing so hard that she hold her crouch to stop herself peeing in her pants like a 3 year old.

“What are you two doing,” I hear Ruk’s rough sexy voice ask with a laugh as I fall to the bed and bounce to a stop.

I lift my head to see him, but can’t see much as my long thick mass of hair lies over my face. Ruk’s gentle fingers push the hair away, so to see my face, and stuns me with his a gorgeous smile, making me blush.

Dallah’s fake cough brings me back to reality, jumping up; I sit on the bed, moving my hair back to place.

“Dallah can’t take a joke, that’s all,” I tell him, then look to Dallah with a playful wink.

“So what we doing today then,” He asks Dallah, while getting comfortable on the bed.

I don’t listen to what they talk about; I just stare at Ruk’s side profile. He is so goddamn sexy, and strong and his body, oh my gosh his body!

  “Zara?”

“What?” I ask coming out of another daze, and look straight into Dallah eyes, she tries not to laugh as she gives me a knowing look.

“You ok,” Ruk asks me concerned.

“Uh, yeah...I um...what?” for the first time I am lost for words.

“You will love this Ruk...” Dallah explains to him about my mother, the dagger, and her worry.

“Well shit, we all knew you were different, but Angel! No, you’re safe with that one beautiful, no one will know unless you tell them, which you won’t,” He commands, I just nod my head to him and look away quickly. I have always crushed on Ruk, but since connecting with him, and seeing him play the role of my protector, I am finding him hard to resist. Nevertheless, that is all it can ever be, a crush, as I will never allow myself to fall in love with two men as I once did with Parrise and Sallack.

“Ok, I’m going to meet the guys downstairs, so hurry up getting ready,” He tells us while getting up to leave the room.

“What was that?” Dallah asks with a knowing smile, once Ruk has gone.

“I know! I’m crushing on him so bad Dallah, what is going on with me. I just want to jump him!” I say with a shocked face, and she bursts into laughter.

“He is extremely handsome, but he isn’t the one Zara, or so you have been told. Just try to think of him as a brother or...uh I don’t know, maybe you just need a good banging!” She tells me while laughing hard at her own words, and the look I give her.

“Thanks for the help, come on lets go.” I tell her pulling her by the arm to follow Ruk down stairs.

I feel terrible for looking at Ruk in that way, when I also want Parrise. Why can I not just want one person? Is it really too much to ask. I need to stay away from both men while we are here, I cannot let this get in the way of getting Dallah away from Richard.

When we walk into the kitchen all the Brothers’ look up at Dallah and me with smiles, well except for Den. Theo walks in behind us and stops to greet Dallah and me before we make our way to the table.

“Hey Angel, Princess, what you up to today?” He asks after kissing our cheeks.

Angel, he has always called me Angel, does he know? No, he cannot, it is just coincidence.

&
nbsp; “Nothing planned yet, come sit with us and eat,” Dallah tells him and pulls him to the table, not giving him a chance to argue.

Dallah is pulled down onto Julian’s lap as he kisses her passionately; I have to look away before they make me blush. Where do my eyes automatically go? Ruk! Jeez, I need to sort my shit out.

Ruk looks up at me from feeling my eyes on him; He gives me a sexy smirk before looking back at Sallack to continue their conversation.

The only chair left is opposite Den, so I take it faking a smile, followed by him tutting aloud. I lock eyes with him and stay staring him down while everyone carries on talking.

“Alright?” Den asks, not really caring if I am.

“No. You?” I tell him in the same manner.

“No.” He tells me looking back down at his food.

“Well look at you two all chatty,” Mickey jokes as he stands at our sides.

“Go away Mickey,” Den tells him with a sigh.

“Den, why have you changed so much since being here,” I ask wanting a truthful answer.

“Everyone changes,” He tells me looking at me up and down.

  “Do I disgust you Den?”

  “Zara, just leave it.”

“No, I want to know why you are being like this and why you are getting all friendly with Richard!”

“We all have secrets Zara, don’t we?” He asks maliciously.

“Yes, I suppose we do. But the difference is mine are kept for everyone’s good! Can you say the same about yours?” I ask him.

“I can’t be arsed with this now, not with all this going on!” he angrily replies.

  “Oh, you noticed!”

“Of course I noticed; I don’t go around fucking everything that moves!”

“Pa, really? I laugh. “I would put my life on it that you have slept with at least 5 women since arriving here!”

  “Jealous much?” He asks sarcastically.

“You know, there was a time that you were everything to me. I loved you like no other and had to watch you fuck every girl in sight!” I stand to my feet with anger as my only emotion, “Was I like this to you? No! Even though it fucking killed me, I kept my opinions to myself, cried myself to sleep, night after fucking night! So you can call me what you want, look at me however you want, but I know the truth!” I tell him pouring my heart and anger out.
