“That server room was meant to blow up when you stepped out of the lift.” Gonzales made a sound of annoyance. “Can’t trust people to do anything these days, no matter how much you pay them.”
“Starry, do you have the lift card still?” Yoshi asked. She nodded, fishing it out of her pocket and handing it over to him. “I’ll give you back this lift card if you give me back Felicity.”
“Please, don’t make me laugh. That’s only 22 Karats. We own the Kinkin Mines and have so much gold, the banks borrow from us.” Yoshi gritted his teeth. His eyes flickered up to Grunt Fred. Felicity’s ring winked at him from his belt. “However, I like your boldness; reminds me of me as a boy. Let me make you a counter proposition: defeat me in a girlfriend battle and I’ll give you your Felicity back.”
Yoshi didn’t hesitate. “Challenge accepted.”
“Excellent.” He tented his fingers, and the corner of his mouth twitched up. He drove his fingers down, disengaged two rings from his belt and pointed them at Yoshi. “Janettes, come out.” The muscle-bound fighting-types looked even taller in the open air than inside Winza Six. Eyeing Yoshi and his shorter girlfriends, they cracked their knuckles and smirked.
“Level 20 and 21…” Labby murmured. She had let go of Yoshi’s arm and had assumed her fight pose.
“None of this Brawl nonsense for me; I propose a proper two-on-two battle.” Gonzales eyed Yoshi’s team. “Pick your girlfriends.”
“Starry, back in your ring now.” He didn’t even look at her, pushing her ring into the back of her hand. He locked it back into his belt and clenched his fists by his sides. “Labby and Soph.” They stepped forward.
“This neanderlette’s got nothing on me.” Soph scoffed, looking up at the level 20 foe. “Flying’s strong against fighting.”
“She’s seven levels higher than you,” Labby said from the corner of her mouth. “Be careful.”
“Shall we?” Gonzales prompted. Yoshi didn’t budge. He pointed the end of his cane at him. “You make the first move.”
“Labby! Shred the Janette on the left! Sophie, Bird Run the same one!”
Yoshi gritted his teeth. Come on Labby, land the critical…
The dark wolf crouched and pounced. She exploded into a sprint, launched into the air and drew both arms behind her. The Janette lifted her forearm, using it as a makeshift shield to take the brunt of the repeated slashes. Her health fell by a third.
Soph had taken a wide berth around the Janette and charged into her side. The fighting-type copped the full brunt of the tackle. She fell to one knee and her health bar fell to 40%.
It’s Super Effective!!!
Labby sprang into the air, landing a backward somersault while Sophie scampered back to her position beside the dark wolf.
“My turn,” Gonzales smiled, revealing a gold tooth. “Janette, use Pump. Janette, Floor Slam the Sophie.”
The injured Janette punched her fists together. A red-pink aura glowed on the ground and wound its way to the top of her six-foot frame.
Janette’s SPCL DEFENSE rose!
“Damn it, that’s going to make Soph’s attacks even less effective…” Yoshi muttered. “Soph! Watch out!”
The level 21 Janette made a beeline straight towards her. She dashed to the side, but the Janette wouldn’t let her escape. The foe opened her muscular arms out. She clamped them on one of Soph’s arms, gripping her wrist and forearm.
The bird-kin punched the opposing girlfriend with her other hand in futility. “Let go of me you fucking…”
The Janette rolled her shoulder, lifted the bird-kin right off the ground and slammed her right back down. She lost 15% of her HP.
“One…” Gonzales said under his breath.
The Janette let go of the dazed flying-type, took three steps back then jumped five feet into the air. Like a wrestler, she drove herself shoulder first into Sophie’s torso.
“Noooo!” Yoshi yelled. Soph’s eyes flew open and her HP dropped another 15%.
“Two…” Gonzales said, his mouth twitching at the corner.
The Janette then grabbed Soph by both legs, lifted her again and swung her over her head. Like a feathered ragdoll, she slammed her once, twice, three times before letting her go.
Critical Hit!
Soph fainted!
“Three, four, five!” Gonzales clapped in delight. “Janette never lands all five hits. It must be my lucky day.”
Yoshi stared at Soph’s lifeless figure. “No…” he whispered. An outline of blue light encased her and she zipped back into her ring at her trainer’s hip.
“Yoshi! Snap out of it!” Labby barked.
He turned his hateful gaze at his smug nemesis. “Labby, Shred the injured Janette.”
Labby assumed the position of a coiled spring and exploded into a flurry of fangs and claws. Labby wrapped her legs around the hapless girlfriend’s torso and ripped into her face and chest.
Critical Hit!
Enemy Janette fainted!
“Very good! Very good!” Gonzales boomed. Labby had taken her place in front of Yoshi again, body relaxed but primed for the other Janette’s next move.
I wanna be the very best, like no one-
Yoshi pursed his lips. Not now…
But the ringing phone wasn’t his. Gonzales pulled a ringing smartphone from his jacket’s inner pocket. “Excuse me.” He raised a finger then pressed the green button.
His relaxed demeanor became tense. Creases appeared in his forehead and the wrinkles on his face suddenly became more pronounced. Seconds later, and without saying one word, he slipped the phone back into his pocket.
“Apologies… Yoshi, was it? Something just… came up and I have to abandon our battle. Just when it was getting to the good part too. I like you, so as a sign of goodwill, I will give you back your Felicity. Charlie.” The motionless grunt started flicking switches and pressing buttons. The rotors began moving. “Fred.” The other grunt hopped out of the chopper cabin and hurried to Gonzales. “Give them back the Shiny.” Fred stared at the shorter, older man, looking to be of two minds. “Now.”
Fred swallowed then walked quickly across the roof. Keeping his dull eyes on Yoshi, he disengaged the ring and handed it back to him.
“How do I know this is her?” Yoshi demanded.
“You can release her and check now, if you would like. I wouldn’t recommend it.” Fred said. He stared at him, unblinking. Was that a shake of the head? The goon retreated back to the chopper, the Janette and Gonzales following him.
Labby was sprinting at them. Expecting this, the Janette threw a backhand fist at the dark wolf. Labby crossed her arms in front of her body, blocking the attack. It still contained enough force to knock her back several yards. She stumbled and landed in a crouching position.
Gonzales turned back, a sly smile on his face. “Tell Gary that Team Boom sends their regards.”

Saving Flick
Soph’s heavily bandaged hand rested in a nest Starry created with her slender, pale fingers. A white body cast encased everything but her head. Yoshi smoothed the red-brown feathers off her face. His mind wouldn’t stop replaying the Janette slamming her body into the ground.
“It’s not your fault,” Starry said quietly. Yoshi looked up at her. Her small face was open and honest. “The Janette was too strong; it didn’t matter that Soph had a type advantage against her.”
“I know, it’s just…” He tried to grasp something invisible between his fingers. “I don’t like seeing my girlfriends faint, let alone get hurt.”
Starry’s smile was little and sweet. “I know. Soph knows.”
“How is she?”
Yoshi looked over his shoulder; Labby was leaning on the doorframe, her right arm bandaged up. “She’ll be fine. Mr. Pampers has given her concentrated Revive Potion in a drip. She’ll be awake in a few hours.” He looked back at his flying-type.
“How are your arms?” Yoshi asked.
“Fine.” Labby steppe
d into the room. “I’m already back at full HP.” The three of them stared at the still figure of the usually effervescent Soph. “She’ll be OK, Yoshi.”
“I know!” Yoshi snapped and immediately checked himself. “I know… I’m sorry. Sorry that the mission was a failure.”
Labby shook her dark, wild, wavy locks. “It wasn’t a failure. We rescued Felicity.”
“We don’t know it’s Felicity yet.”
“We scanned the ring back at the police station. It’s Felicity and it’s your Flick. Everything checks out.”
Yoshi was quiet for a moment. “What about Carl?”
“What about him?” She laughed darkly. “Police moved in pretty quick after he… landed. Put up a crime scene. Scraped him off the ground… literally.” Starry shivered and cradled herself.
“Did you find anything useful on him?”
Labby shook his head. “No next of kin. His only other family is his sick father in Sapphire.”
Yoshi hated the guy for what he did, but part of him couldn’t shake off the look of terror when Gonzales pushed him off the edge of the building.
“And Gonzales?” Yoshi urged.
“Gone,” Labby said flatly. “My team was too busy trying to get their devices working again to track him. His goon fried them pretty bad.” Her expression softened. “That isn’t your problem though. You should get some rest.”
Yoshi kept his eyes firmly on Soph. “That’s not going to make her wake up any faster.” Labby stepped towards him. “Are you going to make an injured girlfriend drag you out?”
He dipped his head in defeat. “Alright. Starry, do you want to come?”
The interstellar-type shook her head, her midnight blue hair swishing side to side. “I’ll stay here with Soph.” She glanced at Labby then her trainer but didn’t say anything.
“She’s a good girlfriend,” Labby said casually.
“You mean Starry? She’s not mine,” Yoshi admitted. Catching Labby’s raised eyebrow, he stopped walking. “Professor Poke in Topaz lent her to me. I have to give her back to him after I complete an errand.” The dark wolf’s eyebrows stayed raised. “It’s… a long story.”
“I bet.”
They continued walking through the IC wards of the Mr. Pampers in silence.
“You were pretty awesome in Winza Six.” Yoshi said. Labby didn’t say anything, looking straight ahead. “I bet you could have beaten the other Janette if Gonzales…”
He shut up, way too late. Smooth, Yoshi, smooth.
Labby sighed. Yoshi wallowed in awkwardness for a while before thinking of an appropriate segue. “Did you just come here to check on us?”
She shook her head. “No. I also came to ask you something.” She stopped walking and faced him. She regarded him with deep brown eyes. “What are you going to do about Felicity?”
“I’m going to check her into Mr. Pampers too. He should be able to fix her up.”
Labby shook her head. “Agent N doesn’t get ‘fixed up’.” She took in Yoshi’s blank stare and continued. “Agent N stands for Agent Nom. It’s derived from Nomite, a highly unstable element that, when ingested in high amounts, can lead to death by overdose. In very small concentrations, it can be administered to girlfriends in the form of Nom Candies.”
“To help them level up,” Yoshi said, cottoning on. Labby nodded.
“In high doses, it can fill the body up with so much energy that it…” She looked through the door into one of the empty wards.
“What?” Yoshi urged.
“…explodes.”
Yoshi blinked. “You’re saying Felicity is a time bomb?”
“It’s hard to say. But she was producing a hell of a lot of light up there.”
Yoshi pulled out Felicity’s ring and stared at it. “What do you think Team Boom was trying to do to her?”
“Hard to say,” Labby said with a shrug of her shoulders. “Between the time Carl kidnapped her and the time we got to the roof, Gonzales wouldn’t have had the time to do anything too extreme.”
“Pumping her with artificial growth agent until she implodes isn’t extreme?”
“Explodes,” she corrected. “Gonzales would have had to be close by. How else could he have come at such short notice?”
“By helicopter?” Yoshi suggested. Labby opened her mouth, then clamped it shut. “That’s why he didn’t recommend I check Felicity right there on the roof.”
“That was a bluff. Felicity’s Agent N levels are dangerously high, but not dangerous enough such that she would spontaneously explode. He’s too important a figure in Team Boom to die from a freak accident.”
Yoshi became still. “That would mean that they’ve injected Agent N into other Shinies before.”
Labby shook her head. “I checked the SPARTA databases back at the station. We don’t have any record of this happening… besides this instance.”
Yoshi looked at the ring again. “Is she going to die, Labby?”
She pulled out two sets of dark sunglasses. “There’s only one way to find out.”
Flick writhed and strained against the constraints. Her clothes were completely damp with sweat, as was her faded pink hair. “Aaaaaargh!”
Yoshi looked at her helplessly. He still had to squint through his thick glasses just to look at her properly. “What can we do?”
Labby stood at the foot of the bed, her arms crossed. “Most girlfriends who overdose on Agent N die. Their bodies can’t metabolize the sudden intake of energy fast enough. Their trainers are lazy and just want the ‘get rich quick’ method of levelling up their girlfriends. They pay the price behind bars and have to live with the guilt.”
Yoshi furrowed his brow. “You said that Shinies convert energy at 1:100, right? So right now she has the equivalent of something like a million cupcakes inside her.”
“I don’t know about that, but yes, her body is trying to get rid of all the excess energy and it’s overflowing.”
Felicity opened her eyes and curled her hands upwards. “Yoshi… help me…”
“We’ve got to find a way to break the excess energy down. She can’t control her body, let alone exercise or fight.”
Felicity was sweating so much her white top was completely see-through. She moaned as another wave of pain consumed her.
“Can we… I…” Labby looked across at Yoshi. He was pinching his chin, eyes fixed on Felicity’s curvy figure. “Can I… I mean it might work…”
“What?” Labby demanded.
“Have sex with her?” Yoshi blurted. Felicity let out another groan of agony. “I mean, I don’t need to actually have sex with her, but just make her…”
“Orgasm?” Labby’s expression was unreadable through her opaque sunglasses.
Yoshi’s cheeks burned. Thank Frank it was this bright.
“It hasn’t been done before, I’ll give you that,” Labby said, looking back at the pain-wracked water-type. Before Yoshi could say anything, Labby went over to the other side of Felicity’s bed. “Felicity, I’m 10th Officer Labby of the Onyx Police Force. Can you hear me?”
Felicity rolled her sweat-stained head to her left, nodding before letting out another moan.
“You are in danger of dying from overdose of Agent N. To get it out of your system, we have to help your body burn it. Yoshi has suggested helping you climax.”
Felicity let out another bloodcurdling scream. “Yes, please, whatever it takes.”
Labby nodded grimly and looked at Yoshi. “Help me undress her.”
“Your turn,” Labby said, stepping back.
“OK…” he looked at his naked, bound girlfriend then at Labby. The bed she was on was soaked through with sweat. “Could you… leave?”
Labby shook her head. “If things get bad, I’m going to have to step in. No point having more than one person die.”
Yoshi pursed his lips then shut his eyes tight. He put the dark sunglasses on the bed and pulled his top off. He pulled off his shirt, undid the top button of his
jeans, unzipped his fly, took a deep breath then pulled his jeans and boxers down in one hit.
He could feel both Felicity’s and Labby’s eyes on his already erect member. He snatched up the dark sunglasses and put them on.
Felicity arched her back, eliciting another cry of pain. “Yoshi please…”
Yoshi looked at Labby. She dragged her eyes up, not saying a word. Yoshi pursed his lips then climbed onto the bed. Didn’t think I’d be losing my virginity to a girlfriend who was about to explode while a member of the police force watched me.
Felicity was ravishing. Her breasts were the biggest of all the girlfriends in his team so far, easily a D cup. The nipples were pink, the areolas the size of coins. She was thick but not overly so with curves in all the right places. She spread her knees, exposing her pinkness to him.
Time to put all that porn into practice. Doing his best to ignore Labby standing behind him, he ran his hands up Felicity’s thighs, bringing his face in for a closer look. She shined incrementally brighter. His face was inches away from her moist pussy.
“Yoshi!” Felicity cried.
Here goes nothing. His lips had barely touched her vagina when she clamped her thighs over his ears and bucked away from his tongue like he had shocked her.
He tapped Felicity’s knees with his hands; her legs were a vice that was winding itself tighter around his head.
The air shifted and he felt Labby’s furred arms prise Felicity’s legs open. He bolted up, hands covering his junk. “It’s working; keep going,” Labby said, mouth slightly parted.
Yoshi looked away from the dark wolf and back at Felicity. He turned his palm outwards, curled his middle and ring finger then drew circles on her entrance. Felicity moaned again, this time bucking towards him. His fingers slipped inside and she let out another cry, this time of pleasure.
“Curl your fingers up,” Labby said hoarsely. “You might hit–”
“Yes, yes, yes! There, there!” Flick groaned, half in pain, half in pleasure. Yoshi pumped his fingers in and out of Felicity’s pussy, rubbing against her slick, ribbed roof.
