The Last Legend: Awakened Page 43

by Joshua B. Wichterich

Two years had passed by as they continued to follow darkness in secret…

But on one particular night, Natas spoke to Lilith through Moira, and told her that she must not continue to sacrifice with Moira any longer. Natas revealed to her that Moira was no longer acceptable to participate in the rituals. Lilith was told that Moira was going to be condemned and it was time for Moira’s body to die... Lilith found out that a time of great change was drawing nearer and that she must tell someone of Moira’s actions.

Lilith didn’t understand, but only listened to what the dark beings told her. She did what she was told—and revealed to a handmaiden, by the name of Katrinka, that Moira told her that she had been sneaking off in the middle of the night to go down into the dungeons of the castle. Lilith was a liar just like “father”, and told Katrinka that Moira had revealed to her that she was a witch.

On one particular night, Katrinka followed Moira down into the dark halls and chambers of the castle. She witnessed Moira and her disturbing acts, and told many of her fellow handmaidens. The following day the disturbing news made its way to Alexander. Alexander and King Julpen saw for themselves, the gruesome chamber that lay deep beneath the castle. They were shocked and disgusted. That same day the chamber was cleaned out and Moira was sent to court for witch-craft. She pleaded for mercy and said she was innocent and that she knew nothing of it. She was telling the truth, but only half of it was true. Moira was a murderer and did evil-craft, but didn’t remember doing it. She had no memory of the bloody, dark chambers. When Moira was convicted of witch-craft—father had left her completely. She was of no use to him anymore. She had become her-self again and had no knowledge of the rituals and sacrifices. But Lilith had told the court that Moira had said she wanted to be beautiful and live forever—that is why she killed many servant girls and animals. She said that is why she bathed in their blood. The court believed every word that came from Lilith’s mouth and condemned her to the stake—and Moira was burned to death…

Lilith continued to follow the dark being, father, but was very careful and hid her secrets very well. She continued her duty to take care of Princess Marrisa, but only because that is what father told her to do…

When Lilith closed her eyes—all she saw was darkness. She had no images or dreams within her mind. She had no light within her. She was cold and dark and deceived everyone. She was born into darkness—and darkness was where she continued to go. She became a silent monster and was blinded by father. She understood that her business was only to lie, steal, kill and destroy… Father eventually revealed to Lilith that he was the Lord of Darkness—that he was father of everything… He told her that he had many names… He told her many things she would become and come to have; they were all lies—and she believed all of it. Just like the lies father told Moira and Moira’s mother—he told them to Lilith. Lilith became a domicile of evil—a temple to darkness and a doorway to a very dark world…
