Off Limits (My Best Friends Dad Romance)
Page 3
My eyes glided across the screen of my iPhone. The screen flashed signaling and incoming text. It was from Julie, my boss…
We need you to open. Charlie is sick AGAIN!
I rolled my eyes not even caring to reply to her text. This was an everyday occurrence, and Julie had a lot of balls messaging me asking me to come in early especially when she couldn’t even give me the damn day off. I plucked my phone off the bed, sliding it into the front pocket of my shorts, and then I grabbed my car keys and headed for the door.
Being here alone in this big ass mansion of a house made me feel lonelier than I really was. It also made me think about Kase, and how I felt so much more at home when I was there in his house.
I sighed, pulling my hair up into a tight ponytail. Then I started my Lexus and headed in the direction of the bar, praying like hell that no one I knew would show up there tonight. I couldn’t handle dealing with people’s bullshit without my best friend alongside me.
***
I Love This Bar by Toby Keith blared from the jukebox and into the surround sound speakers above us drowning out all the noise inside my head. The bar was beyond packed for a typical Friday night and my feet were aching from all the running around I was doing. I had just cracked open two beers and sent them down the bar to one of the servers when I heard a voice calling out my name.
“Maddie, sweet little Maddie…” I bit the inside of my cheek and clenched my fists together. That deep drawn out voice belong to Jay Peterson my ex-boyfriend, who left me to be with some bimbo off at college. He had a lot of fucking balls showing his face in here.
“Jay Small Penis Peterson.” I sneered. “I would say it’s nice to see you but I truly don’t give a fuck….” I gave him the dirtiest look I could muster up before turning my back to him.
“Awe come’ on baby, you know you’ve missed me.” His voice was as smooth as honey, and if you listened to it long enough you might get caught up in all the sweet things he would say.
I made a barfing sound, “Yeah no. You can’t miss something that you never lost.” Once again I felt like I was trapped in a corner when it came to him. He knew all the right things to say to me, to keep me coming back for more.
“You’re right, because you never lost me, baby…” He was smooth, but not smooth enough. I blocked his comments out, making a beeline for the kitchen and then the cooler to get some more beer. I needed to restock the bar since the entire town decided they wanted to binge drink tonight.
When I finally reappeared in the overstuffed, hot bar Jay had moved onto someone else. Glee filled ran through me, my mind automatically drifting to Kase. God, it had been less than twenty-four hours since we last saw each other but I felt like I was going through withdrawals. Knowing the man for years and never touching him in an intimate way was fine until we crossed that line. Now I needed his touch like I needed air.
“You’ve got another table doll… 5B” Julie hollered at me over the obnoxious rap music that was now blasting through the speakers. I picked up my pen and notepad making my way over to the booth. The air in my chest halted as soon as my eyes landed on the men, or man for that matter that was seated in the booth.
“Kase…” His name dripped from my lips with ease, like I had been saying it forever and not all a few days.
“Maddie…” He licked his lips as he spoke, his eyes roaming up and down my body devouring each piece of exposed flesh. I could tell just from his facial expression that he liked what he saw.
The two men that were with him were engrossed in their menus looking over the different items we had. I stared into Kase’s dark eyes, he was a mystery in some ways, and in others, he was an open book. Looking at him now I knew there was a possibility that he might have deeper feelings for me than he was letting on.
It was all in the possessive nature of his stare and I’ll admit I liked the way he was looking at me.
“Can I get ya'll a beer?” Somehow I had found my voice.
“I’ll take a whiskey and coke…” Kase ordered first, while the other two muttered under their breaths that they wanted whatever was on tap. I smiled knowing my cheeks were growing a bit red. It wasn’t my fault the man had me all twisted up. I was a ball of nerves whenever he was around.
I got the drinks ordered, and brought them to the table, ready to take their food orders and get them out of here. I didn’t want Kase seeing Jay and the way he acted towards me because I was certain it would cause one big ass fight and I didn’t want Kase beating up some asshole for me. I could handle my own.
“I guess I’ll take the next level beef…” The guy on the left said, and the guy on the right ordered the same thing clearly unable to be his own person and order his own sandwich.
“I’ll take a bar basket.” Kase’s words were saturated in lust. I hoped like hell those men were not clients of his and instead friends of his because if they saw the way he was looking at me I doubted they would want to be business partners anymore. Or maybe they would, simply because Kase was powerful, resourceful, and one hell of a lawyer.
“I will get those out to you in a jiffy…” I gave them all a shy smile, his friends even eyeing me up as I walked away. My heart was beating out of my chest when I placed the order in the system and made my rounds to the other tables I had. In a matter of ten minutes the place seemed to mellow out a bit.
When the food was ready for Kase’s table I got the baskets together, with some silverware and brought it over to them. They were in a deep conversation about some new laws that were going to take into effect here soon, and how it was more than likely going to make them have to do a refresher of courses.
“Gentlemen…” I placed the food on the table and turned on my feet ready to scurry back to the bar. I didn’t like how nervous Kase made me. With him, I wanted things that I could never have.
Kase signaled for me to come closer to him and I did so bending down just within earshot, “I’ll be waiting for you at the end of your shift.” His voice was rough and deep, and it seemed to caress me in all the right places. I gulped down the lump in my throat and tipped my chin up and down in understanding.
I had another hour at least before Julie would let me go, so I hoped like hell that he ate slowly.
The clock seemed to move at a snail's pace, making time stand still. Nearly everyone had filtered out of the bar within the last half hour, leaving lots of tables to clean. I had just started washing one down when asshole Jay popped his cocky ass face into my line of vision. He was watching me as he talked to another girl. She twirled her hair around her finger and giggled at something he said.
Was I that kind of girl once? The one that couldn’t see the lying cheating asshole for who he really was?
I buried the rage that had started to spiral out of control, and just beneath the surface and instead started scrubbing the tables down. I had moved onto the next one without even blinking an eye my thoughts moving to Kase and what his plans for us after work could be.
“You always walk away from men that call your name?” Jay questioned just as I lifted my face from the task at hand.
“I don’t answer to catcalls so yeah I do…” I was totally over this asshole being here. He had waited for almost everyone to leave before trying anything, which was smart. I would give him that much.
“You pretend that you don’t want me but we both know you do.” I rolled my eyes at his lustful words. I could see the way his eyes roamed over my body and the way he licked his lips when he looked at me. Yeah he wasn’t here just to talk or socialize he was here to try and make up with me, and that shit wasn’t happening.
“I don’t pretend Jay. I really just don’t want you.” I seethed with frustration, before walking away and in the direction of the bathrooms.
I had made it ten steps before Jay’s hands were on me, his hands gripping me by the arms forcing my body against the nearest wall.
“Don’t be a tease, Maddie. You’ve always wanted me, even if you won’t admit it. Me cheating d
idn’t change that at all.” He smiled, like the sick fuck he was.
“Let go of me.” I struggled against his hold.
“No. Not until you admit that you want me still…” His fingers dug into my skin so hard that I knew there would be bruises.
“I don’t want you, now let me go!” I ordered, raising my voice. Looking at him now I never really did understand what I found so attractive about the asshole. He leaned into my face smiling before shoving his tongue into my throat, his lips slamming down onto mine roughly.
I bit down on his tongue and dug my nails deeply into the skin of his hands. Praying it would get him to release me. When his body lifted off of mine and his hands released me I felt relieved only to discover that it wasn’t me that had caused him to go flying across the room.
“She isn’t yours anymore fucker!” Kase was raging his eyes were darker than I had every seen them, and his voice was deadly and cold.
“Fuck you all.” Jay groaned getting up off the floor. Julie ran over to him, helping him up well shooting Kase and I a dirty look.
“I think you all should leave now…” She announced, disappointment lacing her words. Pain, anger, and fear all consumed me. Pain and anger because it hurt me that Julie didn’t even stop to ask questions and fear because Jay had almost gotten what he came here for.
“Don’t ever talk, look, or blink in her direction again because if you do and I find out you’ll be one sorry fuck.” Jay didn’t seem like he cared what Kase had to say and my legs shook as Kase wrapped his arm around me and pulled us over in the direction of the door. I was a bit shaken up but it wasn’t anything that I hadn’t had to deal with before.
“If I knew what the fuck he was doing I would’ve been over to you sooner. I thought you disappeared to get some silverware or something. Then I saw him right behind you and knew something was up.” I could tell that Kase was livid, his hands were shaking, and his voice was so low I almost strained to hear him.
“It’s okay…” I whispered as he walked outside together, the warmth of his body easing all the tension from my body. With him I was invincible. He protected me, and dare I say loved me? He turned me in his arms, stopping once we were at my car.
“It’s not okay. He can’t fuck with what is mine and get away from it. I had plans for us tonight but those are shot to help now….” He ran a hand through his hair in frustration. God, he was so gorgeous.
“I still want to…” Kase shook his head refusing to let me finish the sentence.
“No. Tonight was going to go back to my house and you’re going to sleep in your own bed. Tomorrow we can start over.” We stared at each other for a long moment before I nodded my head in agreement. I knew what he was trying to get at. After the shit with Jay, he didn’t want to do anything that could trigger my emotions. He wanted to play it safe and I respected that, and him but I was a big girl and if I wanted something I knew how to take it.
“What if I sneak into bed with you in the middle of the night?” I smirked, wanting to press his buttons a little bit.
His lips pulled up in a smile, “Then I’ll have to spank you again. Though I’m pretty sure we both know you would like that.” My body was on fire and all because of his smile.
“You know me all too well Mr. Jones.” I laughed, unlocking my car. I reached for the door handle, to get in but was stopped; Kase had my face in both his hands before I could even whisper a word.
“I’ll always protect you, Maddie. That asshole don’t deserve you, and neither do I but I certainly ain’t letting him have you.” His lips pressed against mine, fire filling my belly, while my heart pounded in my ears. All the blood in my body rushing to my core as an ache formed between my thighs.
“You deserve me…” I murmured.
“No, I don’t Maddie. Your off limits even to me.” He spoke against my lips before pulling away leaving me in a mushy pile of lust. I was aching for his touch and confused as to why he didn’t deserve me.
Did this have something to do with Jessica? Was he feeling guilty about what we had done? I was feeling a multitude of emotions, with a million questions racing through my head and he was walking away from me.
He might think I’m off limits to him but he wasn’t to me. Jessica would understand if it ever came down to it. She would have too because I wasn’t giving up what I had with her dad.
Chapter Five
Kase
I slammed my fist into the heavy punching bag over and over again. It had been a week since I last touched Maddie and with her living in my house, and working at the law office it was becoming nearly impossible not to go to her. Yet here I stood taking my rage out on the bag instead of dropping to my knees in front of her to devour her sweet pussy.
Every time I looked at her I saw that fucker touching her. I saw the sick look in his eyes and it left my blood boiling. I didn’t deserve her not any more than he did but I wasn’t going to let her go. I just needed to put some space between us, give her some time to breathe and to question if this–me is what she really wanted. I hoped like hell that night I had left her in her car that she would come to my bed that night, but she didn’t, nor did she any of the other six nights. In fact, she kept her distance from me and refused to even look me in the eyes when we exchanged words in the office. I leaned against the punching bag, trying to catch my breath as sweat trickled down my face.
I needed to get showered and into the office but the fire was still burning hot beneath my skin. You need her. A little voice whispered in my ears. Defeat hit me hard, as I realized I did need her. I really fucking did.
I felt consumed by her and when she didn’t look at me or talk to me I felt it in my fucking heart and I hadn’t felt that way since I was with Jessica’s mom.
The alarm on my phone went off reminding me that I needed to start getting ready for the day. I released the punching bag and walked over to the windowsill grabbing it. As I shut the alarm off I realized I had a text message from my daughter. I clicked through to the message and watched as the photo she sent me loaded. She was sitting on a dock, in what looked to be Greece based on the scenery behind her. She had a beautiful, bright smile on showing on her face.
Looking at the picture hurt me like I never expected. I was torn because Maddie was who I wanted to be with but without my daughter knowing I questioned if it would ruin my relationship with her. Or the friendship that Maddie and she had.
I closed the message and headed towards the locker room to shower and get dressed for the day. I would have to get Maddie to talk to me today. I would have to ask her about her thoughts on us going forward. I wanted to claim her as my own, with my tongue, cock, and hands. I wanted nothing to separate us, including my daughter. I knew then that if we were going to move forward together then we needed to do it now, and have all our shit in order for when Jessica came back at the end of the summer.
At that time we could tell her together and feel confident in our choice of being together without having to worry about what she was going to say. A smile graced my lips as I let the worry that I had been feeling just moments ago melt away. I had a plan, now all I had to do was execute it.

When I walked into the office right on time I was feeling like a million bucks. My eyes drifted to Maddie who was sitting at her desk all prim and proper, with her hair curled perfectly, and her face painted with just the right amount of makeup. God, I couldn’t wait to remove her clothes and claim her pussy like I really wanted to this whole time.
Her eyes lifted to mine, and in them, I could see a bunch of questions. I never considered that maybe she thought I didn’t want her anymore, not until right this second as her emotions seemed to be written clearly on her face.
“Hello, I have an eight thirty appointment with Mr. Jones…” I heard my first client of the day speaking to her, blocking out of view of her face. I sighed knowing my obsession with the girl that had once been playing with Barbie dolls in my living room on the floor was bad.
&nb
sp; For fucks sakes, she was my daughter’s best friend. This entire thing was wrong, so fucking wrong.
I heard Maddie say something and then I stepped out of my office and welcomed them in. Jack was one of my oldest clients and one that usually came in to make changes to his will or shit along those lines.
“How are you, Jack?” I asked politely as I shut the door to my office. He smiled at me a twinkle in his eyes. He had wrinkles marring his features, and truthfully the man was old enough to be my grandpa.
“Good now that I saw that beauty out there…” He snickered. I couldn’t help the smile that seemed to pull at my lips. Jack was a smart man; hopefully, he didn’t try to lay any moves on her when he left.
“She’s a bit young for you don’t you think?” I shot back, opening his file on my desk well seeing the note that Maddie left on it. He needed to add it two more grandchildren to his will.
“Age is nothing but a number Kase, you know that.” He winked at me like he knew something that I didn’t.
“If you say so, Jack…” I laughed, “Now let’s get to this Will of yours. You need to add two more grandchildren into it?” I raised an eyebrow up in questioning.
He nodded his head yes, well folding his hands in his lap, “Yes. My youngest grandson just had twins and I want to include them in my life savings.”
“Alright then. I’ll make the changes. Is everything else remaining the same, you want them to have the same percentage, and items as the others?” I peppered him with all the required questions while taking note of the things he needed. He answered yes to all of my questions and within matters of minutes I had amended his Will and added in his great grandchildren.
“Alright Jack, you're all done here.” I got up, shaking his hand like I always did and walked him to the door. I opened the office door, my eyes falling on Maddie right away.
