Shifting Time (Skull Shifters MC Book 3) Page 10

by Tricia Wagner

During that time, a nurse comes in with paperwork to process, and I smile at her as we finish. Trance gets me dressed in clothes, that someone obviously brought in for me. Trance said that everyone was back at the club waiting to see me. All I do is nod and he guides me to the truck.

We get into the truck and he lets me know that my silence isn’t going to cut it. “Babe, we’re gonna talk about your parents.” I close my eyes slowly. Opening them back up, I realize he isn’t moving the truck. I guess we were going to do this here. “Trance, I never wanted anyone to meet them.” He sighs, “Kris, those people don’t reflect you.” Yeah, right. “You can’t mean that. They weren’t even grateful that we got them away from that crazy man. All they could say was I was the reason for it.”

He pulls in a big breath and blows it out. “Yeah, about that.” I snap my eyes to him and give him a questioning look, “Your parents are in prison.” My eyes get huge, “Why?” He shakes his head, “Babe, I hate to even get into all of this.” Oh no. “Trance just tell me.” He grabs a hold of my hand, “They helped lead them to you. They had been in town for two weeks looking for you. They promised to find you in exchange for their gambling debts.” My mouth dropped. My parents used me. I hadn’t seen them or spoken to them since I was eighteen, and this is what I get?

“You had seen my parents before today?” He nods. “We had a tail on them. I never wanted you to see them.” I give him an odd look, “If you had a tail on them, then why didn’t anyone know they were at the club?” His face falls flat, “Trance, who was their tail?” I hear him mutter, “Shit” and puts the car in drive. I guess I wasn’t going to get to know who was the tail.

“Kris, go into the house. I need to meet with Brant.” I close my eyes and nod. Walking into the house, I knew instantly that something wasn’t right. There was a lamp down, and I couldn’t hear Mel or Connor anywhere. That was when I thought maybe I should go get Trance or Brantley. First, I needed to be sure that Mel was okay. I headed down the hallway, and the first three rooms were empty. That’s when I saw Connor in his room. I walk in and see that he’s sleeping. Thank God.

I head further down the hallway, and hear voices, “Pipe, you don’t want to do this. Brantley will find out and he will kill you.” Oh my God. Pipe? Seriously? I turn to make my way to getting the guys, when I must have made a noise. I feel someone grab onto my arm and I swing around to find Pipe. With a gun. Seriously, not again. “Get in here, Princess.”

I follow him silently, and he pulls me into the office with Mel. I can see that she isn’t visibly hurt, but she looks extremely pissed off. “Pipe, the guys already know it was you. I don’t know why you would think they wouldn’t figure it out.” He sets me, not so gently, down at a chair behind the desk. I could see now that Mel had a cell phone sitting on her leg that was hidden. She points her finger the other way, so I snap my eyes up to make sure Pipe doesn’t know what’s going on.

“Since you’re here, I assume Trance is to?” I shake my head, “No, he was going out to look for you.” That was a lie, but I’m hoping he buys it. That is of course until we hear, “Girls! I’m here. I need to see Kristinaaaaaa.” Shit. Sophie. I look over to Mel, and this was when we decide Pipe is distracted enough. She hits send on the phone, and holds her hand over the speaker so you can’t hear it ring.

Pipe leaves the room, and we assume he’s going to get Sophie. That’s when Mel picks up the phone and speaks, “Pipe has us in the office. Connor is in his nursery.” She hurries and hangs up as she says, “Girl, you are never leaving ever again. Look at that belly!” I shake my head, “Are you insane? Now is not the time.” She smiles, “They guys are comin. Now is definitely the time.” That’s when we hear, “Pipe, what the fuck?” I let out a laugh, because Sophie was obviously not in the mood to be compliant.

We see Sophie turn the corner with a scowl on her face. “Oh my God. Do you believe this? Tryin to throw a damn Welcome Home party and this is what we get? Yeah Kris, Welcome Fuckin Home.” I smirk as Pipe throws her down in a chair. “There will be no “welcome home”. I’m gettin my money, and I’m gettin it now.” We all look to each other, “What money?”

“The money he thinks he’s due from the club.” That was Brantley’s voice. This was what we heard right before he grabbed a hold of Pipe. He got the gun out of his hand. Wrapped his hand around his throat, and shoved him up against the wall. I hear Melanie sigh as she says, “Brant, we can’t explain another dead body to the police in this house. I won’t do it. So, beat the crap out of him, whatever, but don’t kill him here. I’m not speaking to the police again like that.”

Sophie and I bust out laughing as Brantley gives her a look that says she’ll get it later. I look to her and laugh at the nonchalant tone she has. She shrugs as she stands up. “Can I take a whack at him?” Oh Lord. “Melanie, get your ass out of here. Now.” Oh yeah, Brantley wasn’t laughing. She knows it’s serious. She just didn’t want him to be too upset about another brother going against them. How were we really supposed to trust anyone?

We silently walk out of the office to get Connor. Trance stops me with his hand on my arm as he says, “We good?” I nod, “Yeah, nothing happened.” He nods and walks into the office with Brantley. I would say “poor Pipe” but I have no sympathy for him whatsoever.

Melanie gets Connor, and we head outside. We go into the club, since we had no idea how long that was going to take. “Girl, we are so glad to have you back. It took way too long to get you here.” I roll my eyes at Mel, “Oh please. You obviously complained to Brantley enough to make him come get me.” She smirks, “You’re right. It’s nice when he reacts to my moods so well. We don’t want to miss this little peanut being born.” I smile, “I know. I would’ve come back.” Sophie raises an eyebrow. “Okay, maybe I wouldn’t have. I would have told you where I was so you could come visit me.” She wraps an arm around me, “And my wedding? You would’ve missed it?”

I wasn’t going to win in this conversation. “Okay, it was shitty. I get it. You guys know why I did what I did.” They both nod. “We still love you. We just wish you would’ve stayed and let us fix it.” I shake my head, “It was something I had to do. It’s done. I’m back. Are we gonna move forward?” They both smirk, “Whoa, Trance has been speaking like that to you recently, hasn’t he?” I roll my eyes. “Trance is always speaking like that.”

“So, what do you think will happen with Pipe?” Mel cuts in with, “Remember what happened to Weston?” We both nod. Technically we don’t know what happened to Weston. He turned his cut in and we never heard from him again. “It’s not your concern. You won’t have to worry about Pipe. Ever. Again.” We all swing around to Brantley. I guess the discussion was over.

Trance looked at me and said, “Are you ready to go?” I turn my head to the side, “Where?” He smiles, “I’m taking you to dinner. Then we’re going to start house hunting. We need to get our little girl a home.” My mouth drops, “Um. I’m not moving in with you.” I heard a few gasps, and Trance’s face gets hard. “What do you mean you aren’t movin in with me?” I hear Brantley say, “Clear out.” Then everyone was gone. I guess we were going to talk about this now.

  Chapter Sixteen

“You wanna tell me why you’re spewing that?” I raise an eyebrow, “First of all, there is no way you’re going to tell me that I’m moving in with you. Secondly, I’m not gonna live with you because we’re not married.” His mouth drops open, “You wanna get married?” I give him an odd look, “I would like you to want to marry me. I’m fine with me findin a place, but you won’t be living there.” He scoffs, “Like hell. How fast can your girls get a wedding put together?” My mouth drops, “Um. What?” He shakes his head, “Babe, Marry me.” I roll my eyes, “It’s supposed to be a question, Trance. On top of that, it’s not supposed to be a forced question. The answer is no.”

He looks baffled, “The answer is no?” I nod. “You want to marry me, but you won’t?” I smirk, “It’s all about the propo
sal. Me forcing you to propose is never how I pictured that day.” I raises an eyebrow, “Babe, you think you’d ever force me to do somethin I don’t wanna do?” Well that was probably true. “So, I’ll say it again. Marry me.” I shake my head, “Fine.” His mouth drops, “The attitude, that comes with your fine that I am excepting as a yes, is welcomed.” I smile, “Good.” He nods, “So, get your girls on it babe. I want you to be mine by the end of the week.”

My mouth drops, “The end of the week? It’s Thursday.” He laughs, “I think y’all can manage.” I don’t reply, instead I hear, “We sure can!” Followed by a bunch of squeals. I look to Trance who has a huge smile on his face. His smiles are few and far between these days, so when I see it I can’t help but smile.

“Babe, give me that mouth.” I fight not to roll my eyes. Mostly because I really wanted him to kiss me. Instead of moving to him, I stay planted where I am. “I promise it’ll be better for you, if you come to me.” I raise an eyebrow at him in a clear challenge. It took him two strides, and then his mouth was on me. One more step and my back was against the wall. This was not a soft and sweet kiss. This kiss meant business. I knew just what business when he picked me up and started to walk with me.

Mel cuts in with, “I don’t think so! If we’re getting you two married by this weekend, we need her.” He pulls back and gives me a questioning look, “It’s probably true.” He growls as he sets me down. “Tonight, you’re mine.” I smirk, “Maybe we should wait until our wedding night.” He tries to regain some control as he says, “We are not waiting another day. It’s been twenty-eight weeks.” He was right. We hadn’t been able to be together since the day he got me pregnant. First, because he was gone, and then because we had to pretend he was gone.

With the Louisiana chapter in town, he couldn’t be sneaking around the club at night. That’s why he rarely saw me, and that’s why we still hadn’t been together again. “Seven months, babe. What’s two more nights?” He shakes his head, “My baby is already inside of you. We aren’t savin ourselves for marriage here.” I shake my head, “You just forced me to marry you without any type of jewelry or actual proposal for that matter. You have me getting a house with you, and I’m havin your baby. You can wait until Saturday.” He raises his eyebrow and says, “Babe.”

I shake my head, “I’ve been over this with Brantley. Babe does not replace an entire sentence.” He smiles, “I think it does. You’re gonna make me wait to be inside you, aren’t you?” I smile feeling a little devilish as I nod. Serves him right. He pulls me close and touches his mouth to my lips, then to my neck. He gives my waist a squeeze and lets me go. “I’ll wait. You just make sure you make this everything you want it to be.” I smile even bigger. “I will. Can you do me a favor, though?” He nods, “Please don’t get me jewelry. I know I said that, but I don’t need it. I have you, and our little peanut. That’s all I need.” He smiles, “Baby, we have everything we’ll ever need, but if you think I’m gonna let you walk around without a piece of jewelry on your finger to show everyone you’re mine, you’re crazy.”

I roll my eyes as the girls say we need to head out. How am I going to find a dress that I’m comfortable marrying the love of my life in, when I’m seven months pregnant? Since the girls say that’s the hardest thing, that was where we started. Lovely.

  Chapter Seventeen

“Girls, I can’t breathe.” I see Mel out of the corner of my eye. She’s wearing a little black dress. Everything that I always wanted. My girls comfortable, and happy. She smiles, “I knew the dress may be tight.” I shake my head, “No, I can breathe in the dress. I can’t breathe because I’m about to get married. Look at everything we’ve been through. What if this is a mistake?”

They both scoff, “A mistake? Are you insane? The two of you have overcome everything. Look at where you started to where you are now! This is so far from a mistake. Girl, are you happy?” I look to Sophie, “Yes. He makes me happy.” She nods, “Then there’s no question.” I close my eyes, “Are you mad that we did this before your wedding? I’ve been worried about that since Thursday.” To this she throws back her head and laughs, “Soph, I’m serious.” She nods, “That’s why it’s so funny. My best friend lost the man of her dreams. Then he came back to her only for her to never really have him. Now she has him back, and she’s askin if I care that they’re getting married before me? Are you nuts? I am unbelievably thrilled for you.”

I have the best friends in the entire world. This is why I feel the tears coming. “I am so sorry for ever leaving. I love you both so much, and I never could’ve done any of this without you.” They both hug me tight knowing that I’m not one to show emotion. “Girl, we love you. Now we know we have you forever! Trance will never let you go now.” I smile as Mel says, “You’re finally getting your happily ever after.” I laugh, “I already have it.” They both nod as we hear the music start. That was our cue to head out to my forever.

As I turned the corner I watched Mel finish her walk. I obviously didn’t have a father to walk me down the aisle. That’s why I asked Doc. He was going to be a staple in our lives, and I felt honored that he said yes. An honorary father to me and grandfather to our little peanut. “Ready, darlin?” I smile, “Absolutely.”

Looking up I look into Trance’s eyes I know that he is my forever. As he repeats words of love for me I tear up thinking that he is the best thing that will ever happen to us. I hate that I stayed away for so long, but I know we wouldn’t be where we are if I hadn’t. When the Reverend tells us to exchange rings I pull out the ring that I picked out for him. It’s a dark titanium and I hope he never takes it off.

I slide it onto his hand, and he pulls out the ring he picked out for me. As he slides in on, I see that it is both an engagement ring and a wedding band. They are both intertwined with beautiful diamonds. The middle diamond is absolutely gorgeous and I gasp as I think about how much this must’ve cost him. I cannot believe that he did this. He smiles pulling my head up by my chin to look at him, “Told you. No one will look at you without knowin that you belong to me.” I smirk trying to bite back my sass, but it comes out anyways. “Why not just tattoo your name on my forehead.” He raises an eyebrow as he contemplates this. “Trance, that was sarcasm.” He smirks, “Yeah, but it’s not a bad idea.” I swing my head to the Reverend, “Is he allowed to kiss me now?” He lets out a laugh as he nods, “I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride.”

He pulls me into him for a passionate, possessive kiss. Promises of what tonight holds, and what our future holds. I give everything I have to him, and cannot wait until the party is over. He releases me and then pulls me into his side. We walk down the aisle which is Brantley and Melanie’s side yard. They have beautiful white roses everywhere as we walk passed all of our friends and family.

He turned to me, picked me up “Bride Style” and carried my pregnant butt straight to the club house. I was laughing hysterically. I guess he wasn’t going to wait until the party was over. I could hear Mel giving people instructions on where to go, so the party could start without us. He set my down in front of his bed. “Well, Mrs. Lambert, are you ready for me to officially make you mine?” I look down at my belly, “I think you’ve already done that.” He smirks, “Hell yeah I have.”

I squeal as he pulls me to him quickly. “Baby, this is gonna be quick. Then we’re gonna go celebrate, and when we’re done, I’m bringin you back here and we’re going to celebrate all night.” Instantly, in between my legs were wet. He always had that effect on me. He kisses me again as he drags my dress up to my waist. He gasps when he sees that I don’t have any panties on. I let out a satisfying sigh as he glides right into me. “Always wet for me.” I groan out, “Always.”

The feeling of wholeness rushes over me. I’m complete. “You complete me.” He growls as he slides in and out of me. I am completely overcome with ecstasy and I have no words to describe this moment. Fireworks are going off in my belly as I take everything he has to
give me. He flips me over, with care of my belly, and slides in from behind.

His hand wraps around me and he starts massaging my clit as he pulls me back. It doesn’t take long for my orgasm to fall over me like a waterfall. As soon as he hears me let go, he comes and we’re both in the waterfall together. “Baby, I cannot wait for tonight. I love you so much, Mrs. Lambert.” I smile at that, “And I love you dear Husband.”

  Epilogue

“I present to you, for the first time ever, Mr. and Mrs. Jason Lindy.” I stare at my beautiful friend in the most gorgeous white gown. Her smile is from ear to ear, and Jason’s matches. I look over to Trance who is holding our sweet baby girl. Klarissa Diane Lambert. Diane for Trance’s mother. I was happier than I ever thought possible. As I look through the crowd, I see Falcon staring at Jason and Sophie.

Once we were done with Bridal Party duties, I found Falcon, “So, do you think this will be you one day?” He scoffs, “Nah. All the good ones are taken. Not in the cards for me, Babe.” I shake my head, “To not find the one that you were meant for, would be a crime. You deserve to be happy.” He nods, but leaves it at that. “Will you stay here?” He shakes his head, “You’ve seen my home. That’s where I belong. I was never meant to be here this long. I head out tonight.” I give him a hug, “Find her.” He kisses my cheek, “I’ll see what I can do.”

He walks off as Trance finds me. I take Klarissa from him as he wraps his arms around us. I know that this is exactly where we were meant to be. My eternal forever. Safe. Sound. And to Stay.
