Convincing the Cougar Page 4

by Jessie Donovan

One second Kian had been rubbing his finger in Trinity's wetness, and the next, she'd flipped onto the floor behind the table. The sight of her graceful, toned—and naked—body in the air was almost something out of his fantasies, and his dick let out a few drops of precum.

While he'd had a list of dirty things to do to his mate, he liked surprises. He could tell Trin wanted to play, so he would play.

She remained crouched on the floor, and Kian readied his stance in preparation for her next move.

To distract her, he grabbed his cock and slowly pulled up and down. Trin's eyes flickered to the movement, and he dove under the table. He managed to touch her ankle, but it wasn't enough—she slipped out of his grasp and dashed toward their bedroom.

He strode to the room and paused outside the door. Since the room was built inside the mountain, there were no windows to worry about. And there was only one closet, which was too full for her to hide inside. That left one option—the moment he walked into the room Trinity would try to tackle him from the side.

The thought of Trinity's warm body pressed against his as they tumbled on the floor made his cock throb.

But there was no fun in too-easily giving in to his mate. Kian braced himself for the attack and walked into the room. Trinity tackled him from the left, and because of his lame right leg, he couldn't steady himself and they tumbled to the ground.

They rolled on the carpet-covered floor, first him on top, then Trinity. She managed to lock her knees around his sides to keep them from rolling over again.

Her chest heaving from the effort, she stared into his eyes. If he wanted, Kian had the strength to pry apart her thighs and flip her over. But he was too entranced by her heaving breasts and her wet pussy pressed against his belly to move.

She ran her hands up his chest, and then up his arms, until she twined her fingers with his. Her face was close enough he could feel her breath on his chin. "Do you yield?"

Their games always had provisions. "That depends on the price I have to play."

She gave him a brief, rough kiss. She nipped his bottom lip and said in a husky tone, "A surprise you're guaranteed to like."

Her sexy tone nearly had him groaning. If he were in cougar form, he would be purring right now.

He would give in for now to reap the reward, but this wasn't over yet. When Trin least expected it, he'd make his move. "Then yes, I yield."

She kissed him again, but the warmth of her mouth was gone too soon, as was the wet heat of her core against his skin.

Trinity released his hands and lightly scratched down his body until her hands rested on either side of his cock. She leaned down and gave a slow lick from bottom to top, careful to lick every last drop of precum on the head. Each swirl of her tongue made his balls ache. He finally reached down and grabbed a fistful of her hair. "I've forgotten what your hot, wet mouth feels like, and I want to rebrand it into my memory." He gave a light tug. "Let me fuck your beautiful mouth."

Her eyes flashed with lust. She maintained eye contact as she gave one last deliberate lick to his slit. "I should make you feel the same frustration as I had earlier, but I've missed your big, beautiful cock." She gripped the base and gave a squeeze. "The feel, the taste." She lifted it and rubbed it against her lips. "The power I have over you when I do this."

She took him into her mouth about halfway, and Kian groaned as he tightened his grip on her hair. "Yeah, baby, just like that."

She retreated to take him deeper, going up and down as she fondled his balls. He couldn't help but arch his hips and thrust along with her. In and out, the slick, heat of her mouth nearly made him come right then and there.

But he forced himself not to, wanting to spend inside her.

Trinity stopped with his dick against the back of her throat, and then she swallowed and purred. He groaned at the vibrations assaulting his sensitive skin. At this rate, he wouldn't last another thirty seconds.

He tugged at her hair and Trinity released him. She stared into his eyes as she licked her lips.

He couldn't wait any longer; he needed to be inside of her.

He growled and flipped her over before thrusting into her tight, wet pussy. He kept her pinned to the ground, his hands under her breasts as he moved his hips faster and faster. He squeezed Trin's breasts before pinching her nipples. She ran her hands over his and gripped his forearms, her claws digging into her skin.

"Harder," she whispered as she spread her legs wider and moved her hips with his, their flesh slapping as he continued to pound in her heat.

The combination of love and desire in her eyes went straight to his heart. He was close, and as much as he wanted to fill her pussy with his hot, white seed, he needed to make sure his mate was taken care of first.

He continued to pump in and out of her but moved one of his hands down to flick her clit. Trin sucked in a breath and whispered, "More pressure."

He pressed down with his thumb and rubbed back and forth until Trin started to squirm. He could tell from her moans she was close, so he pinched her clit between his fingers and she screamed.

As her pussy started to squeeze his cock, he slammed into her even harder. She'd wanted to feel it in the morning, and he would make sure she did.

His balls drew tight, and with another few thrusts, he let go, screaming Trinity's name.

Trinity lay on her back with her mate's heavy body on top of her. She could ask him to move, but as she rubbed his sweat-covered back, she decided she liked how his powerful body made her feel delicate for a change.

Besides, she didn't want him to pull out and sever the closeness she felt right now. Part of her was afraid it was all a dream, and any moment, she'd wake up to find Kian back sitting on that rock.

Kian nuzzled her neck and gently kissed it. "Mm, you taste good."

She continued to stroke his back. "It's good to have you back, Kian."

Her mate turned his head to catch her eye, his expression troubled. "I'm sorry for being an asshole. If not for your stubbornness and dedication, I might still be sitting on a rock, pitying myself." He raised a hand to her cheek. "I love you more than words can say, Trinity Perez-Murray, and I'll do whatever it takes to try to make it up to you."

"Damn straight, you will." She smiled. "But on some level, I understood what you were going through. Being a dominant, alpha leader isn't easy, and having some of your strength and grace taken away just makes the role that much harder."

He shook his head. "That doesn't excuse me treating you the way I did, Trin."

She brushed some of the hair off of his face. "Well, then just make sure you never do it again. Whatever happens, you can always confide in me, dear heart. We've worked through problems in the past, and if the weird purple-eyed wolves aren't an anomaly, but something more, we'll need to work together again in the future."

He stroked his thumb against the skin of her cheek. "And if I don't, then you have the right to kick me in the balls with those heavy-duty boots you have."

She grinned. "I wish I had thought of it before."

"Just try not to permanently damage me." He moved his lower body against hers, and she felt his cock harden again inside of her. "I think you're kind of attached to a certain part of my anatomy."

She gave a fake innocent look. "I have no idea what you're talking about."

He growled. "Then let me remind you."

Kian bent her leg and started to slowly thrust in and out of her. When he started doing wicked things with his fingers to her clit, her nipples, and even her ass, Trinity couldn't concentrate on anything else except for what he was doing to her body and how much she loved him.

  Epilogue

Sylas Murray stopped in front of his twin brother's office and knocked. When Kian barked for him to enter, he turned the knob and found his brother sitting behind a desk piled with paperwork. Sy shut the door behind him and went to stand in front of the desk. "You sent word?"

Kian leaned back in his chair. "I have a task for you
."

Since he was one of Kian's inner circle of guardians, this wasn't big news. "Yeah, care to be a little clearer on that?"

His brother gestured for Sy to take a seat. Once he sat down in the wooden chair, Kian said, "I need you to visit the wolves. We need their medical expertise."

Sy was careful not to react. One of his teenage fuck-ups had nearly cost DarkStalker the tentative truce they'd held with the wolves since the 1990s.

But he understood why his brother needed their help. After the U.S. government had acknowledged the shifters' existence decades ago, each shifter clan had chosen an area of expertise. They had done it to be competitive—very few shifters had gone to college until recent years. DarkStalker was known for its engineers; the GreyFire wolves for their biology and medical science.

Still, the best bet for everyone was to try to get Kian to send someone else. "It's been years since I've dealt with the wolves, brother. Why don't you send Raeka or Carlyle? They actually have tact."

Kian smiled. "I should send you just to learn a little diplomacy, but that's not why I'm doing it."

"Does this task have anything to do with those weird purple-eyed wolves you fought off?"

Kian nodded. "So far, no one has been able to get that remaining wolf to shift, and we know so little about wolf biology that examining either of the dead ones is a waste of time. I need you to go to GreyFire, convince them to take a look, and stay with them to make sure they don't try to hide anything from us."

Fuck. At this rate, he'd be with the wolves by morning. He needed to give one last try at persuading his brother to change his mind. "Have you forgotten about their clan leader? Kaya Alexie isn't going to tolerate a cougar living amongst her people, even if it is temporary."

"You two once got along. I'm sure you can figure something out."

As much as he didn't want to, it was time to remind Kian of what had happened the last time Sy had dealt with the wolves. "Have you forgotten how it ended? I'm sure Kaya—and probably her whole damn clan——still holds that disaster against me. Cougars and wolves just don't mix. You know that."

"Well, until we figure out why the hell those wolves were on our land and why their eyes glowed a strange color, you're going to make it work. This issue is too sensitive for me to trust to just anyone. I need you, Sy."

There was no way he could say no to that. "As long as you understand the risk in sending me."

Kian raised an eyebrow. "Give Kaya some credit. She's not going to yell and scream and starting throwing things at you. She's probably too fucking busy taking care of her clan to give you more than a cursory glance."

He sure hoped his brother was right. "Fine. I'll put together a crew and let you know my plan in the next few hours. Did you want me to bring the dead wolf-shifter with me, or have it brought over to GreyFire's land later?"

"Take it with you. If nothing else, the carcass will get their attention. We'll keep the other one in cold storage."

Sy stood up. "All right. Give me a few hours, and I'll be ready to go."

Kian nodded and put out a hand. Sy grasped his brother's forearm and said, "You might be a pain in my ass sometimes, but it's good to have you back, brother."

Kian squeezed Sy's forearm and released it. "Now, go. The sooner we know if these purple-eyed wolf-shifters are the precursor to a bigger problem, the sooner we can figure out a way to protect against it."

Sy gave a mock salute. "Yes, sir."

His older brother just shook his head.

Sy turned and headed back to his den. He should be focusing on who he was going to take with him or how to transport the damned dead wolf. But all he could think about was whether Kaya Alexie would treat him as a nobody when she saw him, or if she would try to knock him flat on his ass.

A big thank you goes to Jayelle Anderson, my friend and critique partner. This short story (and new series) was the result of a "screw it" rant that she was kind enough to listen to. I wrote the story in a week, and I'm grateful for Jayelle reading it so fast and giving me feedback!

I also wish to thank Becky at Hot Tree Editing for fitting me in on such short notice. Her awesome comments made this story better. Thanks Becky! Also, thanks to Kristin and Teri for the additional feedback.

My sexy book cover was designed by Clarissa Yeo of Yocla Designs, who also fit me in on short notice! She's amazing and doesn't charge nearly enough for her work.

And finally, I thank you, the reader. I write for you all, and if you ever want to contact me, feel free. I love to hear your thoughts!

  About the Author

Jessie Donovan wrote her first story at age five, and after discovering The Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey in junior high, she realized people actually wanted to read stories like those floating around inside her head. From there on out, she was determined to tap into her over-active imagination and write a book someday.

After living abroad for five years and earning degrees in Japanese, Anthropology, and Secondary Education, she buckled down and finally wrote her first full-length book. While that story will never see the light of day, it laid the world-building groundwork of what would become her debut paranormal romance, Blaze of Secrets.

Jessie loves to interact with readers. When not reading or traipsing
around some foreign country on a shoestring, she can often be found on Facebook and Twitter.

This book is a work of fiction. Names, characters, places, and incidents are either the product of the writer's imagination or are used fictitiously, and any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, business establishments, events, or locales is entirely coincidental.
