Chase (Lakefield Book 4) Page 7

by Jennifer Vester

  Olivia: Riiiight.

Another beep sounded on the phone.

Julia: Liv told me! Are you insane? Brock? He’s like the flirt king! You realize that you’ll be tracked the rest of your life right?

I rolled my eyes. They were being a little dramatic.

  Another beep sounded.

Kate: You didn’t mention a party!!

Ugh. I texted them both back the same message.

Andi: Just a party. We’re not going together. Nothing crazy. Just helping him out.

Kate: Like I said earlier - good luck with that. He’s nice but you’ll never shake him.

Julia: Uh-huh. If you want, I’ll have Holden shoot him.

Olivia: Welcome to stalker central. Ditch your phone now!

  I shook my head.

The stories they told about him were a little unbelievable sometimes. How could he possibly be that bad? Granted, Kate’s information earlier was outrageous. However, I was fairly certain that he would lose interest quickly once I left.

If I firmly told him to fuck off that would be the end of it. No more weirdness. If he had spent the last few months busy with work and made no attempt to call me then he would eventually give up and move on to the next woman that walked into his life.

No biggie. I just had to discourage him. Firmly.

An image of him naked skated through my head. Shit. Not that. He doesn’t have a body. No body. No incredibly toned muscles. Nope.

The hairdresser was back and scowling at me. “What are you doing up? You need to sit. Did you move the wrap?”

I walked back over to the chair and sat back down. “Urm, no.”

She checked several spots. “Looks good. Go rinse and we’ll finish up.”

A thought came to me. “Hey, I’m kind of new here and got turned around earlier. Do you know where I’m supposed to put in the security code to get off this floor? If I’m late, he’s going to kill me.”

She huffed. I’m sure she was thinking that I was just a bimbo rich girl that couldn’t take care of myself. Why not? It looked like it with all the bags and the place we were sitting in.

“It’s down the hall to the right past the front door. Do you have the code?”

I pretended to act dumb. “Oh, I forgot! Seven, ten something right?”

She rolled her eyes. “No, three, three, eight, nine, asterisk. You have to hit the asterisk at the end.”

I smiled and tried to look as vacuous as possible. “Thanks! I’ll go rinse and be back in a second.”

After a shower to wash out the extra chemicals, and a very long speech from her about hair care, she left and I breathed a sigh of relief. She had blown it dry and styled it despite my insistence that I could do it myself. The finished look really was gorgeous.

Gathering my bags, I walked back to the bedroom and shut the door. After Brock’s surprise visit to the pool earlier I wasn’t taking any chances on him popping up while I changed into my dress.

There was a black clothing box sitting in the middle of the bed that I hadn’t noticed earlier when I had taken a shower. I sat down on the bed and pulled it into my lap.

I picked up the card on it and flipped it around to read.

  Wear this. X Brock

I lifted the lid and let out a deep breath. Sitting inside were two pairs of lacy undergarments. Thong panties in deep red and black. Strapless bras in the same color with a sheer silk cup and lace. A separate garter and hose combo in the same colors.

Wow. Just the thought of wearing any of it made me warm all over, especially between my thighs. Aiden’s personal assistant certainly didn’t pick this out.

After I put on just the black panties and bra, I stood before the mirror in the bathroom. I felt sexy for once in my adult life. The silk and lace brushed up against my skin in ways that made me feel caressed. I had never worn something like this.

When I was younger it hadn’t been something I would have thought to buy and after we left I couldn’t afford to spend the money on it. We had a nest egg but it was for Drew’s benefit and not mine.

I bit my lip and wondered why he had bought it to begin with.

Taking a big breath, I decided that it didn’t matter. I was wearing the damn set just because I loved it and I loved how I felt in it. Not for him, just me. But the way I felt in it made me want to throw my conservative attire idea for the night to the wind.

I eyed the satin lace up heels. Fuck it. I was going with those shoes, black eyeliner, smoky eyeshadow. The works. Screw it if anyone thought it was over the top.

After painting my nails and putting on makeup I got out the dress. It was a black mini that looked like it might be a little snug on my frame. One of the shoulders didn’t have a sleeve, while the other one did. The sleeve fell off the shoulder in a short sheer flair.

When I was finally lacing up the last silk ribbon of my new shoes below my knee I heard the phone beep.

  Brock: Are you nearly ready?

Andi: Not quite yet. Give me another thirty minutes or so.

I was so ready but I wanted to go into the party alone. Now that I had the code, I wanted to prove to him that I wasn’t his controllable little pet in the penthouse. He would think twice about locking me in again. Resourcefulness was my middle name.

Brock: Did you get my gift?

  Andi: Yes.

Brock: Are you wearing a set?

I didn’t reply back. I would let him stew on it.

Walking around in my dress and heels I felt gorgeous. Whether I was or not, didn’t matter. It made me feel that way and I was going to use it to my advantage. I felt like a princess for the night. Why not enjoy it? Back to reality tomorrow.

I took a picture of myself and sent it to the girls. The dress hugged my curves, my hair fell in a soft way, framing my face. The black sparking earrings and choker highlighted the top of the dress.

  Perfect.

  Liv: Holy shit.

  Julia: Dear gawd!

Kate: Brock is going to lose his mind.

I sent the pic to Brock just as I stepped on the elevator and smirked.

I was traveling down the floors when I got a text back.

Brock: Andi you look positively indecent. I’m coming up the elevator to get you right now. We may skip the party.

I stepped out of the elevator with a laugh and tucked the phone into my small clutch that had been in the accessory bag. Aiden’s assistant had really thought of everything.

Eyes turned to me in the lobby and I ignored them. Gauging by the cut of their suits and dresses they were likely here for the party. I asked for directions and headed to the swanky bar in the east wing.

When I entered, I held my head high and went to the bar in the middle. Low lighting glimmered off the crystal chandeliers on the ceiling. The sounds of clinking glasses and conversation could be heard. There were about a hundred people in the room all dressed to the nines. The gold and black coloring of decorations, tables, and furnishings made the room look just as rich as some of the people standing around in it.

Setting my small clutch down on the bar, I looked around. I wasn’t one of them and I kept that in mind, but for one night I could pretend that I belonged. The phone beeped as I ordered two Lemon Drop shots and a martini.

Brock: Where the FUCK are you?!

Andi: Don’t you know already? Thought you kept track of everything. Apparently someone can actually disappear off your radar.

Brock: ANDI!! Don’t fuck with me, you’ll regret it!

I giggled and took my first shot.

Andi: Downstairs talking to a very nice man.

He didn’t reply after that. I was doing no such thing but I imagined him fuming.

As if on que a man did approach beside me, leaning into the bar and pretending he didn’t see me. When he glanced in my direction I saw his eyes quickly drop to my indecently exposed legs in the mini-dress.

“Hi there,” he said, then ordered a drink from the bartender. “My name is Brent.”

&n
bsp; I recognized him from one of Brock’s dossiers. VP of something. I gave him a quick nod and a smile.

Another man approached him and gave him a quick pat on the back, eyeing me as well.

“Hey Brent,” he said. “Interesting place for all of us to meet up but it’s a nice view.”

He looked at me and smiled, “Hi, are you new?”

I smiled at him and another man approached.

  “I’m Mr. Fleming’s personal assistant.”

He clamped his teeth together in a lewd smile. “James Holloman.”

“Nice to meet you,” I said and took a drink of my martini.

The third man arched his brow at me. He was clearly younger than the other two, had a wide chest that fit his suit and looked oddly out of place among the room of older executives. He was very cute though with his dark brown hair and sparkling green eyes.

  “Gabriel Baldwin, Miss—?”

“Oh! Andi Jones. I hope all of you are having a good time.”

Brent had leaned sideways into the bar, giving me a full look of appreciation. He had the typical executive look to him. Short dark hair, that probably cost him a mint to groom, and expensive grey suit.

“We’re having a grand time now, Andi. Can I buy you a drink? Martini?”

I eyed my glass. “I’m good, thanks.”

James was still leering at me. “So how long have you worked for Brock?”

I shrugged and lied, “A month or so. I’m still learning who everyone is and have been out of town for a little bit.”

Gabriel gave me a sympathetic smile. “Yeah, it’s a big company. I know when I started it took me a month to meet everyone. Are you from here?”

“Yes and no. I recently moved here from Connecticut.”

Might as well keep the lies to something half-way truthful. What did Brock say? The best lies are in the details.

I heard a growl behind me before I saw him. Brock walked around to my left and put a hand lightly on my elbow.

He had worn a suit and had contacts in tonight. The effect was overwhelming to say the least. It made me tingle just looking at him.

“Gentlemen,” he said and nodded to the men in front of me.

I smirked and purposely crossed my legs in front of them. Three sets of eyes dropped to my legs briefly. Gabriel swallowed hard, James was still leering and Brent’s eyes flared.

I heard a deep growl beside me. “Sorry I’m afraid I have to steal my assistant for a moment. Some urgently pressing business.”

Their eyes snapped up and there were nods.

“Andi,” Brock ground out in a strained voice.

“Sorry Mr. Fleming, I was just getting to know everyone.”

“Not a problem,” he smiled down at me with a forced look. “Please come with me. We need to discuss something.”

I gave him a wide smile. “Absolutely. Whatever you need.”

His nostrils flared and his voice dropped several decibels. “You may regret saying that.”

Turning back to his associates I gave them another wide smile. “So sorry! Work calls. Never a dull moment.”

They gave me smiles as Brock nearly yanked me off the chair.

I stood and he backed off slightly waiting for me to smooth down my short skirt. Then I did something I knew he would get pissed over. He was so going to regret recruiting me to help him.

I bent slightly over and pretended to adjust the satin tie of my shoes underneath my knee. When I stood up he looked furious and like he wanted to throttle me. I glanced at the men and waved. All of them were clenching their jaws. Gabriel had an arched brow, James looked like he was going to fall over, and Brent’s eyes burned into mine.

Brock yanked my elbow and led me out of the room.

  Oh shit.

  Chapter Seven

“You should have waited Andi,” Brock growled. “Damnit. You look too fucking gorgeous and nearly naked in that dress. And what the hell did you do with your hair?”

I frowned at him and he kept pulling me along. “Do you treat all of your personal assistants this way? If you don’t cool it then they’ll know I’m a fraud.”

He stopped and looked around for a moment then opened the nearest door to our right and pulled me in. When he closed the door the darkness of wherever we were, was complete.

His hands found my hip and pulled me against him. I could feel a bulge in his pants press against my mound.

Not able to stop myself I let out a small squeal. My hands flew to his solid chest.

“I’m treating this personal assistant this way because you’re driving me nuts. Fuck personal assistant. You’re Andi or whoever the hell you are and you do not disappear on me for starters. You do not flirt, do not wear this shit except for me or with me.”

He must have found the light switch because suddenly it flipped on. We were in a linen closet surrounded by hundreds of folded sheets.

His murky green eyes bored into mine and his neck was flushed slightly red. His teeth were clamped shut and he was giving me a scowl. He was wearing a nice black suit and tie that felt soft under my fingers. Without his glasses he looked even more stunning but even if he had been wearing them instead of contacts, he would have looked great.

I bat my eyes at him. “Is it my hair? I thought it was a nice change.”

He growled at me and grabbed the back of my head, tugging at it. I was forced to face him whether I wanted to or not. “It’s not your fucking hair. I like your hair. I liked it before you cut it. As long as I have enough to grab on to, I don’t care what you do with it.”

His other hand reached around to grab my ass and massage it.

I gasped and my mouth fell open.

  “Are you wearing my gift?”

  I didn’t answer him.

He spun me around so fast I nearly lost my balance. His hand in my hair went to my shoulder and bent me over roughly.

“Put your hands on the shelf in front of you Andi,” he growled.

“Uhm,” I responded and did what he said.

Suddenly, the back of my short, tight mini dress was lifted and shoved over my hips.

  “Brock!” I hissed.

I heard him groan as his other hand grazed roughly over one of my cheeks.

There was a slight sting when the palm of his hand came down on my ass to spank me lightly.

“Ahh!” I squealed and tried to stand up. His hand in my back, kept me in place.

“That’s for not waiting. Fuck Andi. This is—I think I’m going to cum just looking at this on you.”

I started panting as his hand wandered around. Then my knees nearly buckled when I felt one of his fingers slide under the thong near my opening.

Whimpering I closed my eyes. “Brock.”

“Shh, I need to feel you.”

“This is a bad idea. We’re going to get caught in here.”

  “Andi, be quiet.”

His long finger pressed into me and I let out an involuntary moan as he stretched me. I heard him do the same behind me.

  “I want you right now.”

“Bad idea,” I said on a moan as he moved his finger in and out of me. I could feel myself getting wet at the intrusion.

“You’re so defiant and if you think it’s a turn off, don’t, I like you wild. Your body is beautiful, Andi.”

His finger came out and slid down to my nub. He circled it roughly and I let out another soft moan. Lightning bolts were shooting through me and my body felt like it was on fire. My brain was slipping into a muddled state of lust.

His finger slipped inside me again, pressing further in. Then he stopped suddenly and I felt my skirt shoved back down.

I let out a pent-up breath and opened my eyes.

  “What the hell?”

He chuckled darkly. “Now you know how I feel every time I look at you. On the edge of orgasm and frustration. Ready to tip over the brink into the darkest places in my mind. Wanting to possess you and every part of your body. Unable to fulfill my cravings.”
<
br />   I stood up and he yanked me back against him.

Gasping, my hands lifted behind me and ran through his hair. His lips skimmed my neck and I tilted to give him access. He was breathing hard and I could feel the rapid beat of his heart in his chest as he pulled me even closer. He rubbed against the top of my ass with his hard cock.

His hand slid past my swollen breast and it gripped my wrist which was tugging at his hair.

“You need to do what I say Andi,” he whispered. “Obey me or I will leave you on the brink every single time.”

“Obey you?” I whispered back and let my arms fall from the feel of his silky hair.

“It would make my life so much easier if you did.”

“I don’t obey anyone, Brock. Most women don’t. I mean most women wouldn’t.”

His lips touched my ear and I shivered. “You’re too young to know anything about it. You might actually like it.”

Breathing heavily, I closed my eyes. His lips brushed my earlobe before he sucked on it.

“Never going to happen old man.”

He growled and I whimpered as he kissed at my neck. One of his hands slid to cup my breast and squeezed. He was an older man with plenty of experience and he knew the places to touch me. His exploration only heightened my tense needy body.

“What’s your name?” he whispered, as he bit my earlobe.

The haze of my brain cleared and I was on alert again. He was using my body to extract information and his fingers were digging into my wrist.

I cleared my throat and jerked my neck to the side. “I can’t tell you Brock, please let go of me. I need to leave.”

He turned me around and caged me in with his muscled arms. His eyes looked shadowed as he scanned my face. His full lips dipped to mine to give me a soft kiss.

“No. I’m asking right now. There is going to be a point when I don’t ask. I haven’t tracked you up until this point. With the exception of using some cameras to watch you, I’ve behaved. But I swear if you try to run I will use every means at my disposal to chase you down and drag you back to where you belong.”

I started to tremble against him. This had been such a bad idea. I should have never agreed to help him, much less kiss him. He seemed more determined than ever now to pursue his strange interest in me.
