I don’t even walk her out of my office. I just watch her go and let out a sigh of relief. I need to see who I can get on this for me. I can’t deal with her. Just then I hear talking in the hallway because Niki didn’t shut my door all the way.

  CARA

I was thankful when Tyler arrived I was tired and hungry, but wanted to spend some time with Jordan. I begged Tyler to take me to the office. I know I needed to let Jordan get his work done and I won’t be in the way, but I like to watch him work sometimes. Plus, if I was being honest I didn’t want to be at the house alone.

When I entered the office Maria gave me a funny face and she talked on the phone. I ignored it and walked back to Jordan’s personal office. As I came close I saw Niki walk out of the room. She looked at me and gave me this smile that made my insides turn.

“Hi, Cara.” She said in that voice that always made me see green with jealousy.

“What are you doing here?” I asked her politely even though I didn’t want too.

“Oh, I was just talking to Jordan. We were talking about him spending some time at my place. I mean he needs a break. I told him I was just leaving to go get my tattoo done. He’s just so sweet. I told you he would do the right thing, Cara. You might as well give up now.”

“Why would I give up? What do I have to give up?” I ask puzzled by her.

“Jordan of course. He’s only being sweet with you because he doesn’t want to hurt you. I mean your fragile right now and he needs a strong woman. Plus, he misses me.”

“He doesn’t miss you?” I don’t think he does.

“You keep telling yourself that lie. Have a good rest of your day Cara. I must run off and get my daughter.” She finished talking and walked by me brushing against my arm. I instantly went through different emotions at once. I was angry, jealous, and sad.

I took a moment to figure out what had just happened. Niki was here alone in Jordan’s office. She’s still getting that damn tattoo. I needed to talk to Jordan.

I walked into Jordan office to catch him pulling out a notebook and putting something away. When he saw me he put it right back and locked the drawer. What was that book?

“Jordan?” I looked at him trying not to cry.

“Cara Mia, come here.” He turned in his chair and I just stood where I was. “Hey pretty girl, what’s wrong?” Jordan stood to his feet and began to walk to me.

“No! What was Niki doing here?” I asked in anger.

  JORDAN

Cara was standing close to the door with her arms crossed over her chest. I couldn’t tell if she was pissed or upset. “Cara Mia, Niki just wanted me to help her. Niki thinks she has a stalker.” I told her the truth, but as I took a step closer to her, she backed away from me.

“I don’t believe that. She wants you, said you’re just being nice to me and that you miss her. Fuck, she still wants a damn tattoo like the one you have.” I listen to her curse and all I want to do is turn her tight, little ass red. I try to take another step closer to her and she backs away again. What the hell?

“Cara Mia, please, come here.” I watch her instantly get pissed off.

“No, and right now I’m taking away your damn rights to call me Cara Mia…” She shakes her head at me. “Nope, not right now. You know she’s lying to you for your fucking attention. I swear that woman has planned to drive me crazy.” She continues her rant and her voice is getting louder.

I take a moment to debate my options here. What happened to the woman I had yesterday and this morning who was full of laughter? I hate that she’s so touchy.

I don’t know what happened. I want nothing to do with Niki.

“You have nothing to say to me about her. Am I wrong here Jordan? Do you think she’s just telling you the truth? Am I crazy? Say something now damn it! Do you miss her?” She stomps her foot and I quickly take a few steps towards her and before she can exit the room I slam my office door. I have her cornered.

I turn her to face me and push her back against the door. I bend down and quickly pick her up and place her legs around my body. Fuck, all I want to do is tan her ass.

  “Put me down!” Fuck this.

  “Stop talking.”

“No! Answer my question. Do you fucking miss her? And put me down!” She’s really going to fight me on this. I back away from the door and careful walk backward to the couch. I take a seat as Cara begins to fight me. “What the fuck Jordan?”

Really, damn her, she needs to stop cursing. I shift under her.

“Stand up.” I say as I let go of her. She goes to stand and the minute she does I grab her arm. I pull her close to me. She’s got on a pair of shorts and I use my free hand to pull them down. Lucky me, she’s got on cotton shorts and not jeans. I then immediately pull her across my lap.

“I will turn that ass of yours a bright red if you do not stop talking and listen to me.” I watch her prop herself up on her elbows and turn to stare at me.

“You will do no such thing. Now let me go, damn it.” I’ve had it and slap her ass hard enough to get her attention. “Ouch, that hurt.”

“Good, now are you going to listen to me and stop that foul mouth of yours.” I can feel her anger. When she turns to look at me I realize she isn’t done. Her cute little nose is scrunched up and there’s a frown on her face.

“Abso-fucking-lutely not.” Well, there I have it and this time I slap her ass a little harder.

“Cara Mia, we can do this as long as you want or do you want to talk nicely to me.” I may have to do this differently.

“No,” again with the defiance. I remember when Nate went into his spiral of anger and she isn’t Nate.

“Fine,” I lifted my hands from her. “Get up, you can leave then.” I watched the instant change in her behavior. Cara stood to her feet and pulled up her shorts. I see her hands shaking as she rubbed her backside. “Out Cara. If you’re not going to listen to me and have this ugly fit, then I don’t want it.” I lied to her.

She just stood in front of me rubbing her butt and I saw the tears form in her eyes. Every fucking time she cried it broke my heart. This time, I had to try my best to not let her see that she was breaking me. “Well?”

“What…are we breaking up?” Oh shit. This is not how I intended this to work out. I watch as Cara stares at me, rubbing her scars, and the tears being to fall. I sit up and grab her by her hips and pull her to my lap again.

“Hey pretty girl, I’m sorry.” I did this to her. I wanted her to stop fighting me and instead I took it one step too far.

  CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

  CARA

I don’t think the pain in my chest has ever hurt this bad. The second Jordan let me get to my feet and told me to leave I about lost it. I don’t mean to get so angry with him. Niki makes me angry and I took my anger out on him. I didn’t know what to think when he told me to leave. I mean is this it. Are we done? Did I just break us?

Oh my, was Niki right? Does he miss her? I hope this isn’t the end and I didn’t just send him back to her.

“No...” I take a deep breath because I feel the hiccups coming. “Did...(hiccup)…I just…(hiccup)…break us?” My chest hurts so bad and my hiccups are hard this time to the point that they are painful. Jordan places a hand on either side of my face and forces me to look at him. I don’t want to.

“Pretty girl, there’s nothing in this world you could do to break us. I just wanted you to stop your little fit.” Jordan leans in to kiss me and I try to turn my face. If he kisses me I’ll fall apart and I don’t want to, not again. However, I can’t stop him and when his lips touch mine I’m gone.

I can’t be weak; I need to be strong. I can barely hold myself together as he tries to deepen the kiss. Jordan doesn’t force the kiss and then stops and he wipes away some of my tears.

“Cara Mia, talk to me please.”

“I hate her…(hiccup)…Jordan. I don’t like that she…(hiccup)… was here with you or…(hiccup)… that she claims to need you or…(hiccup)…t
hat you need her.” I’m trying hard to control my hiccups, but I’m not doing any good. They really hurt.

Jordan takes his hands off my hips and then removes his shirt. I watch through my tears and then he reaches for my shirt. I allow him to remove it and I wait to see what he does next. He pulls me closer to him and then turns on the couch to lay down. My head rests right above his heart.

Jordan begins to slowly rub my back. “Pretty girl, I told her I would have someone else take a look at her issue. I have no intentions to help her myself. And believe me, when I say this, I don’t need her. I don’t miss her like you asked. I need you.” I listen to his heartbeat trying to calm myself down.

“I’m sorry I cursed at…(hiccup)… you. I shouldn’t have taken…(hiccup)…my anger out on you.” I shift to sit up and straddle Jordan. I wipe away my tears and lean down to kiss him.

I lick his lips and allow him to deepen the kiss. Our tongues mingle for a little and then I break away. “She’s still getting the tattoo Jordan. Why would she do that?”

“I don’t know Cara Mia. I have no answer for that. You have nothing to worry about. I love you and I would never make a promise I knew I wouldn’t keep.” Jordan pauses and looks to be thinking something. “Do you trust me?”

“Yes, why?” Jordan sits up and wraps his arms around me. We’re almost nose to nose.

“Pretty girl, this is a big question. Do you have any doubt in that pretty head of yours that I would not keep my promises to you? My promise to love you and to prove to you every day that I deserve to have you in my life.” He’s now searching my eyes.

“No, I don’t…(hiccup)… think so. Why?” He leans in and kisses me.

“Good, then get your shirt back on. We’re leaving, I have an idea.” I stand and put my shirt back on as Jordan does the same. Before we leave the room I look back over to Jordan’s desk.

“What was the book you were putting away?” Jordan lets out a sigh and I watch him roll his shoulders.

“It belonged to Travis. I’m a few pages into it and I don’t ever want you to read the damn thing.” Oh, I can live with that. I don’t think he would lie to me.

We leave the office and Jordan doesn’t tell me where we are going. He pulls into a parking lot. I look around and see a hardware store, a pizza place, a Mexican food restaurant, and a tattoo parlor. I’m not sure where we’re going.

Jordan turns to me. “Last chance pretty girl. Do you trust me?”

“Yes.” I say it again and then Jordan get out of the truck. I open my door just as he comes around to my side. I climb out and he takes my hand in his and lace our finger. I’m thinking we are going for lunch, but instead he walks us to the tattoo parlor. Huh?

“What are we doing?” I’m nervous about this.

“Trust Cara Mia.” We walk inside and there are a couple of people. There’s a lady who’s covered in tattoos. She looks to be drawing. I see a man on his cell phone and then an older gentleman walks out from the back. He looks like he could be lost in the James Dean era.

“Jordan, man, I never expected to actually see you come in.” They know each other.

“Yeah well Ace, I told you if you could do it and I needed to get the job done I’d be here. Now I’m here. Can you fit us in?” Wait? What’s going on…fit us in where?

“Jordan, what are we doing?” He turns to look straight at me. The way his eyes are locked on mine confuse me.

“You told me you had thought about a tattoo. Now we’re here to get it.” I only mentioned the tattoo. I don’t know what to say. Do I want to go through with this?

  “Jordan?”

“Hey, I’ll let you guys talk this out and I’ll be setting up my area.” The man named Ace walks over to what I believe is his station and begins to clean wipe things down.

“Ace did both of my tattoos. If you’re up for it, I took your tattoo idea and made my little twist on it. I asked Ace if he could pull off the idea and now we’re here. I won’t force you to put something permanent on your skin Cara, but I’m going first if you want this.”

What does he mean going first? I look over to Ace and back to Jordan. I nervous.

“If I mark my skin for you its permanent. I’m only willing to do this for you because I told you once that you were the forever kind of girl.” I let out a sigh. Niki didn’t get her tattoo.

“Okay, let’s do this.” It’s just a heart.

  JORDAN

I’m shocked she’s actually going to do this, but I’m ready for it.

“Ace, we’re good to go.” I holler at him. He’s known since Sunday what I wanted when I emailed him the idea. I even told him the colors I was thinking.

“Okay Jordan, come on over and take a seat.” I move away from Cara and sit in the chair. I stretch out my left arm. He already had the stencil needed for this tattoo, but he knows me. I don’t ask for a tattoo or anything unless I’m dead serious. It’s why my dick is pierced.

I let him begin as Cara watches. I’m not sure what she’ll think, but I hope she doesn’t back out. My tattoo is all color. He used a black for the outline of the heart, but it’s so thin I can hardly see it. The inside of the heart is blank, just me. Around the supposed outline is just a mess of colors pink, purple and blue. Almost looks like someone colored on my arm and cut out a heart.

Better yet it looks like Crayola puked on my arm. It's great and wicked. I’ll take it.

Ace then cleans the area after I take a look at it and wraps me up. “Well, I know you saw the tattoo. What do you think?” I’m worried now. The way she watched me getting tattooed was something else.

“I like it, I really like it. Jordan…um…won’t our tattoos match if I get what I told you I wanted.” I let out a laugh.

“That’s the point, Cara Mia.” I kiss her on the head and then head over to the bathroom while Ace cleans up. He needs to reset the station. “I’ll be right back.”

I can hear talking while I’m in the bathroom. “Did it hurt?” Cara’s asking someone a question.

“My belly button. Not when I got it, but the day after I felt like someone had punched me.” I hear a little wince as I wash my hands.

“I think it’s cute, but the pain. I’m not so sure about it.” I walk out of the bathroom and the female artist is showing Cara her belly piercing.

“I’m game for it, if you want one.” Cara looks to me with wide eyes and then back to the woman.

“Can I, for real?” I want to laugh at her innocence right now. Fuck yes she can. I think it would look fucking hot as hell on her. I look over to Ace who gives me a sign for smoke break and I nod to him.

“I can do it right now if you want. You just need to pick out a belly ring.” I watch Cara debate over the piercing. Then she surprises me, by walking over to the glass case with the rings in it.

“That one, the pink one with the crystal type gem.” Well, fuck me.

“Awesome choice. Let’s do this.” The woman pulls the ring out of the case. “We can go into the room in the back. I just finished prepping the area. I’ll clean this bad boy and get you pierced.”

I follow behind Cara and the woman.

“Oh my name is Andrea by the way.” We walk into a room that by the smell alone you can tell it’s clean. “Sorry I’m a little obsessive about the cleaning of my area. If I pierce, I use this room only and no one else is allowed in here but me.” Good to know. “Take a seat.”

Cara sits on the special doctor’s chair in the room and lifts her shirt to expose her belly button. “You will probably feel a small pinch and that’s it. The easiest thing to do would be to focus on your man right there.” Cara looks over at me.

I pull a chair next to her as Andrea takes a moment to clean the belly ring. She then shows us a sterile needle and the clean tool she plans on using. The entire time Cara has her eyes glued to mine. I glance over for just a second to see Andrea line up the needle. Then she was done.

Cara made no fuss. She did flinch when the ring was being put int
o place. “I’m done. That’s it.” I watch her look down at her belly and up at me. “What do you think?”

I leaned into her and whispered in her ear. “I think I want to fuck you into next week.” Her eyes widen and I watch as her skin turns a light pink. I find it fascinating to watch her skin flush with color. I have to be paying close attention to really see it since she has a natural tan tone.

Cara then turns her attention to Andrea in a panic. “Can I still get the tattoo?” Andrea lets out a laugh.

“I’m not stopping you, but you better go see Ace.” We walk out of the room and Ace is at his station waiting on us.

“Let me see it.” Cara shows off her new piercing. “Nice choice, all right darling take your seat and let’s get this done.” I watch Cara take a seat and then she begins to shake a little. Now, I see her nerves set in.

“I just want a heart.” I listen to her tell Ace, but he already knows what to do.

  CARA

Ace places a heart outline on my arm. He then shows me the new needle just like he did for Jordan’s tattoo. I’m shocked by what he got, but I really like the way the tattoo turned out. My pulse is racing from getting my belly pierced. I can’t believe I did that, but I’m so proud.

I watch Ace being to start the tattoo and I actually expected more pain, but it kind of tickles. Maybe it’s all the adrenaline running through me. After he sets the outline he tells me about the colors he’s going to use. I think about Jordan’s tattoo and it’s the same color pattern just a mess of pink, purple and blue.

When Ace begins to fill in the color that’s when the tattoo starts to hurt. I look over to Jordan and he takes my right hand in his. I don’t mean to squeeze his hand as hard as I do, but I can’t help it.

“We are almost done darling.” I look over to see Ace adding the blue color and then he was right. Just like that I’m all done. He cleans the area just like he did Jordan’s. He put some stuff on the tattoo and then wraps me up. “You both can take off the covering when you get home, do not soak the tattoo and keep a fragrance free lotion on it or…” I stop listening to him.
