Trust Me When I Lie Page 33

by Benjamin Stevenson

My editors will surely say this jigsaw metaphor has worn thin, so I’d like to thank the brilliant team at Sourcebooks for championing the book’s new home (like every Aussie has to do, I see this as my book backpacking!). MJ Johnston has been my biggest supporter. Thank you for believing in the novel and for publishing it perfectly. Dominique Raccah, for getting behind the book and welcoming me to the Sourcebooks family. It’s a pleasure to be published by such an innovative and independent publisher. Kaitlyn Kennedy, thank you for passionately getting this book into readers’ hands. Gretchen Stelter and Heather Hall, thank you for your work with the book’s production and editing. This book looks amazing, and that’s thanks to Adrienne Krogh and Heather Morris for the cover and Ashley Holstrom for the internals. To all at Sourcebooks Landmark, thank you.

Of the many people who visited the house and filled in a piece, I would also like to thank Mary Rennie for her support and energy in the building blocks of this story. I am grateful I landed at your desk on my first day as a nervous publishing intern; you were invaluable in kick-starting my career.

An unquantifiable thanks to my kick-arse agent, Grace Heifetz. Grace, your enthusiasm is impervious to damage. Thank you for all you’ve done. You have really gone above and beyond on this novel. To all staff at Curtis Brown Australia, thank you for welcoming me into the Curtis Brown fold.

I can’t look past the support and positivity from my family—Peter, Judy, Emily, and James. A thank-you to my early readers: my brother, James Stevenson, and fellow writers Helen Scheuerer and Tom Gibson. My particular gratitude to Aleesha Paz, a fantastic editor. Her opinions have made this a better book and me a better person. And all pro bono, lucky me.
