“You smell so good.” He buried his face into her neck. Her hips started to circle, mirroring the action of his fingers on her. His blood was spiked with adrenaline hearing the little sounds of pleasure bubbling up in her. “I’ll never get over how responsive you are.”

“It’s because of you. I’m out of control.”

He smiled. He loved knowing her triggers. He inserted his thumb inside her, rubbing and thrusting until she moaned in delight.

“You like my touches?” He grazed his teeth along her ear lobe, suckling the skin, keeping the attention of his fingers on her wet pussy.

  “Yes,” she whimpered.

“You’re body. So wet. So beautiful.”

He pushed her forward just enough so that she was pressed between him and the mattress. Her hair was spread over the pillow in a satin blanket. He brought his hand from her pussy and touched her chin. She wrapped her lips around his finger, suckling her cream from him. He jerked in excitement. She was exquisite. Her sucks became tighter, her tongue going to work on the tip of his finger, then suckling each finger. He could only imagine the magic she could do on his cock.

“I want your mouth on me, damn do I, but for now I need to dig this feeling out of my system.” He reached for the new condom and slid it on himself. “We’re going to go slow, very slow, sweetheart.”

He eased himself into her, the swollen passage wrapping around him like a favorite glove. He slowly eased himself deeper, stretching her muscles, making her his. The delicious feeling of her pussy almost sent him over the edge, but he gritted his teeth and pushed the overwhelming sensation away, at least for now. He rolled his hips in circles, pulling back a bit, only to ram his cock deep inside her again. He repeated this pattern over and over as her moans turned into cries. Teasing her. Pleasing her. He touched deep inside of her. And yet he couldn’t seem to get enough.

“My God, this is amazing.” Her insides quivered around him. He reared back, clenching his jaws, demanding his body to move away from the edge. Once he was in control, he started the process all over again.

She backed up against him, circling her bottom. Oh, she wanted control. His body was so tight, craving release, and he wanted nothing more than to plunge deep and come, but he wanted to bring her more pleasure than she’d ever experienced.

  “Jace…”

“Yes, baby?” he whispered next to her ear.

“My body is on fire again.”

“Yes. I want you to burn under me. I’ll keep you safe. I promise.” He inhaled her sweet scent.

  His groan vibrated the walls.

He pounded into her, coupling their bodies in a union of souls.

  “Jace!” she cried out.

  “Tell me,” he demanded.

  “I want to come.”

He increased the rhythm, her body arched deeper.

“You. Are. Amazing,” he whispered. “Come with me, baby.”

His words not only tipped her over the precipice, but the last chain broke and together they sailed into release. He poured himself inside her, burying his face into her hair as each spasm raced through him.

  CHAPTER TEN

Jessa awoke to the sun shining on her face through a crack in the drapes on the window. She was deliciously sore, craving another round with the sexy cowboy who was missing. She sat up and looked around. His clothes were missing too. Sliding from bed, she wrapped the sheet over her just as the door came open. Jace, dressed and with his hat on, stepped in carrying a small white bag and two cups.

She smiled. “You’ve come with gifts.”

“Cream and sugar?” He held one cup up and then the other. “Or black?”

She took the one with cream and sugar.

“Why didn’t you wake me?” she asked.

“You looked so peaceful, I just couldn’t push myself to do it. Good news, the truck has been towed and I was able to get ahold of a cab. One is on its way to pick us up.”

Disappointment slithered through her, but she knew real life came with the rising sun. “Do you think anyone is looking for you at Nirvana?”

  “Chase probably is.”

  “Will he be angry?”

Jace shrugged. “I might get some shit over it, but I don’t regret it.”

Her heart warmed. “What do you have in that bag?”

“Sorry, it isn’t eggs and bacon, but I thought you might need some nourishment.” His eyes sparkled and she caught the underlying meaning.

He handed over the bag and she opened it, reaching in for the cherry cheese Danish. “I love these. I haven’t had one in years.”

“Enjoy. Gas station gourmet. Nothing like it.” He winked.

She bit into the moist treat and it was actually very good. Chewing and swallowing with a sip of coffee, which was quite good too. She placed the pastry back into the bag. “We still have something to discuss.”

“We do?” He raised a thick brow.

  “About Freckles.”

“Come on, Jessa. Let’s not rehash any of that.” His jaw tightened.

Disappointed, she sighed. “Okay. We don’t have to for now. However, there is something else that is pressing.” Seeing his questioning gaze, she dropped the sheet to the floor. She couldn’t believe how comfortable she was around him.

He growled and practically tore up the carpet making his way to her.

For now, until the cab arrived, they could enjoy one another before real life stepped in. “How long before the cab is here?” she asked.

  “Thirty or so.”

  “Good. Plenty of time.”

“I was hoping you wouldn’t think it was too forward of me, but I did grab something at the gas station.” He reached into his back pocket and pulled out a small box of condoms.

“I had a feeling we were on the same page. Otherwise, I was thinking of something we could do that didn’t require a condom.” She wagged her brows.

“How about I put these back away and, just for a bit, we’ll see where your plan takes us?” He smiled.

“Let’s see if I still have my touch.” She dropped to her knees.

  CHAPTER ELEVEN

  “Hi, I’m Lena. I’m Nirvana’s beautician.”

Jessa paused as she looked at the woman standing on her doorstep. “I’m sorry. I didn’t schedule an appointment—”

“You didn’t. I’m sorry. I wanted to stop and volunteer. I know this must seem crazy, but I love your music. I’m such a big fan.” The brunette beamed.

“That’s very sweet of you. Sure. If you have the time I could use some fixin’ up.” Jessa had hoped she’d take a stroll on the land, accidentally-on-purposely run into Jace. Since they came home yesterday and were dropped off by a cab, she hadn’t seen hide nor hair of the cowboy. She wasn’t sure if he’d been put through the wringer by Chase or not, but she certainly hoped he wasn’t avoiding her again.

Once she was seated and Lena was taking out her tools from her bag, Jessa relaxed allowing the beautician to work. “How long have you worked here at Nirvana?”

“Only a few months, but I love it here. I get to meet lots of people and the views, wow, they’re amazing.”

  “Wyoming is a beautiful state.”

“Well, it is, but I was referring to the scenes along the lines of Wrangler bottoms and callused hands.” She giggled as she brushed Jessa’s hair.

“I agree. I’ve heard rumors that romance is in the air here.” She’d doubted the validity of the rumor, but things were certainly heating up between she and Jace.

The brush paused. “We’re not supposed to get up close and personal with guests, but…” she bent close and lowered her voice as if someone might overhear, “it happens all the time. In fact, here’s a new one. I’ve heard that two of the staff members have gotten quite cozy.” She laid the brush down and picked up a comb and scissors. “Your hair is so pretty.”

“Thank you. Regarding office romance, it happens everywhere. I know many singers who sneak around. They usually don’t last too long th
ough.”

“I’m happy for Moon…oh crap! I didn’t mean to say her name.” Lena’s cheeks turned red. “Me and my big mouth.”

“Moon? I’ve met her. She seems very nice.”

“I’m sure you won’t tell anyone, but from what I hear, she and one of the hands has a hot thing going on.”

Jessa smiled. She had her own secret rendezvous going on. “Can you blame her? I’ve never seen so much testosterone walking in Wranglers in all my life. It’s almost too much for a girl to handle. I bet she and Doc Parker have a thing going on.”

  “Really?”

“I do.” She thought it was best to keep to herself that she’d spotted Doc and Moon standing pretty close in the barn.

“Wow. I thought she and Jace were an item. I know I heard through the grapevine that she had her sights set on him.” Caught off guard, Jessa turned her chin around just as Lena squeezed the scissors. A thick lock of hair floated to the floor as the beautician’s eyes widened. “Oh shit! Shit! Shit! I’m so sorry, Jessa.” If possible, her cheeks turned brighter red.

Jessa didn’t pay any attention to the woman’s worry because she was still stuck on the rumor that Moon and Jace were an item. “Do you think it’s true? You know, about Moon and Jace?” She could barely breathe. Her internal claws popped out. What was she feeling? Jealousy? Anger?

Lena shrugged, still holding Jessa’s lopped-off hair in disbelief. “I-I don’t really know. I remember Moon had said she had a crush on him…b-but I could be wrong. Your hair though. Your beautiful hair.”

Gaining a grip, Jessa looked down at her chopped hair. She slumped her shoulders. The loss of hair didn’t even compare to her curiosity over Jace and Moon. Was it possible they had an affair? “Well, Lena, I don’t think you have a choice but to cut my hair. I was looking for a change anyway.” Not this much of a change, but the woman was mortified and Jessa didn’t want to make her feel any worse.

“I’m so sorry.” Tears filled her eyes.

“Don’t fret about it. It’s only hair.” But as far as Jace was concerned, it appeared she had some questions to ask.

  *****

Jace stood at the open door of the barn watching Jessa play her guitar from the makeshift stage. She seemed completely lost in the song as her slender fingers thrummed the strings. Her expression connected with the words and she was beautiful. Her playing was stunning. Almost as stunning as she was. They’d grown close over the last week and he wasn’t positive that he was okay with her leaving soon.

No. He wasn’t. Not one bit.

But what could he do? She was a powerhouse music star and he was…well, a cowboy who didn’t have his own plot of land.

Leaning against the entrance, he listened to the words of the melody. He followed the plump curves of her lips, down the smooth line of her neck to the hollow where he had a strong desire to kiss. Her hair was shorter by at least six inches. He liked it. Hell, was there anything about her he didn’t like? Her eyes were glowing in the soft light, reminding him of sapphires. Everyone in the barn seemed to disappear as he lost himself in her beauty. He liked feeling this way. He liked feeling excited about seeing someone.

Pushing from the doorframe, he strolled to a shadowed spot so he could stare at her without being noticed. He was mesmerized by her slender fingers moving along the guitar strings, skillful and deftly, the same fingers that had touched parts of his body so expertly. Sweat beaded on his forehead at the thought and he adjusted his hat lower on his forehead as if he could hide the emotions flowing through him. He glanced up and Jessa was now staring at him with unreadable clear eyes.

This woman amazed him. She was a star, and yet he could easily imagine that she was just like him, some country boy. He guessed he was playing with fire. Here at Nirvana it was easy to live in a bubble. She lived in another world and he had no place there. He liked his peace and quiet.

Yet, for the time being, he couldn’t resist the blonde bombshell if his life depended on it. In such a short amount of time she’d twisted and turned him. She wasn’t the same person she was back in high school, or maybe she was and he was getting to know the real Jessa. After all, she had a right to reject him if that’s what was best for her. He would have been more heartbroken if she’d said yes just to humor him.

“Hey, what are you doing?” Cole asked.

Jace hadn’t heard the cowboy approach him. “Just making sure we have enough bales of hay set out for seating. Looks like we do.” Jace shifted his boots.

“What do you think is going on with those two?”

Following Cole’s glance, Jace saw Moon and Cam sitting along the wall, their shoulders brushing. “Hell if I know.” It wasn’t like it was any of his business. “I’ve got to go. I promised I’d help out with something.” He needed to get as far away from Jessa before someone witnessed the change in him.

  CHAPTER TWELVE

When the knock came on his cabin door that night, Jace knew exactly who was on his doorstep. And he’d never gotten rock hard as fast as he was now.

Jessa was breathtakingly beautiful. He stepped back and let her enter, inhaling her scent as she brushed past him. She was wearing a raincoat and he peered outside. Looked dry to him. He skimmed his gaze down her bare legs, all the way to the flip flips that showed off her nice feet and pink painted toenails.

She stood in the center of the room, twirling to look at his place.

“This ain’t like your cabin, darlin’” He chuckled. “Four walls and a bunk is all we need.”

“So, this is where Jace Jackson rests his head?” She lifted a thin brow.

He closed the door with his foot. He didn’t say a word as he strolled to meet her, dragging her against his body and lowering his lips. She tasted like heaven, felt even better. He was done for as sure as he had a nose on his face, and fact was, he didn’t mind one bit. “I’m glad you came,” he said once they broke the kiss.

  “Where else would I be?”

He shrugged. “I would have come and found you, but I was hoping you’d show up.”

She worked her bottom lip and he wanted to help, but he had to steady himself. He had the urgency of a starving man. He started to kiss her, but she side-stepped him.

“Not so fast, Blue-eyes! One corner of her mouth turned down as the raincoat opened just enough to show off the plump tops of her breasts.

  Was he expected to think?

He blinked. “Okay. What’s wrong?” He forced his gaze to stay on her face.

She settled her hands on her hips. “I need to know point blank. No lies. No jokes. Are you and Moon an item?”

After wrapping his head around her question, he burst into laughter. “Are you serious?”

Her expression held no humor. “I’m serious.”

“Jessa, I’m not sure what made you think Moon and I are an item, but I promise you, we aren’t.”

  “Were you?”

  “Never.”

“It might not be any of my business, but if I’m walking into a love triangle, I need to know. I’ve been the third wheel before and I swore I’d never—”

He pressed his finger against her lips. “Sweetheart, I’m not the type of man who jerks women around. What you see, is what you get.” He dropped his hand.

She smiled. “I believe you. Honestly, I’ve never been so jealous in my life.”

“You don’t have a reason to be, darlin’, but I sort of like that you are.”

She sashayed close to him, brushing his groin so lightly that he wondered if he’d imagined it. “Do you trust me, cowboy?” She touched his cheek and trailed a warm path to his shoulder.

  He smiled. “Yes.”

“Then don’t move and let me take complete control. Can you do that for me?”

  This was getting good fast…

  CHAPTER THIRTEEN

Jessa slipped her gaze down his nice-fitting T-shirt and loose jeans, and had a familiar throbbing between her legs. He ran his fingers through his hair and a lock dropped over h
is forehead. “You haven’t answered me, cowboy. Can you allow me complete control?”

“Yes.” His husky voice spoke of his internal tug of war. She imagined it would be hard for a man like Jace to give up all control.

“Clasp your hands behind your back.” He did as she requested and she reached for the hem of his shirt, pulling it over his head and sliding it down his muscular arms. She used the material to bind his hands so he couldn’t move, not easily anyway.

Oh my. Her mouth went dry as she strolled her gaze leisurely down his broad shoulders, narrow hips where his jeans hung in that special way. He was stunning. “Are these scars from the rodeo?” He nodded. She ran her finger down his ribcage and along one white mark. He had the remaining purple and green bruising leftover from Suicide’s wrath.

“What are you planning?” He lifted a brow.

“Ah-ah. You said you trusted me. Then prove it.” She walked two fingers down his warm chest, stopping momentarily at the small patch of crisp hair in the center, then continuing down his rippled abdominal muscles.

His lips curved into a half smile. “Yes, I did say that, didn’t I?”

She leaned in. “Now, don’t move.” She kissed his tight jawline, his neck, his chest, rolling her fingers around his flat nipples. He sucked in a breath and she smiled. “Sensitive, are we?”

He didn’t answer. He just stood there watching her. She took a step back and slipped her jacket lower, exposing her bare shoulders. “I’ve come dressed for the occasion.” With a flick of her wrists, she dropped the jacket to the floor, then stood before him, completely naked. His breath came in a hiss.

His eyes were intense, beckoning. He started to move and she held up a hand to pause him. “The rules are you don’t move.”

  “Fuck!” he growled.

Reaching out, she touched his waist and knelt before him. With trembling feelings, she unbuttoned his jeans and slid down the zipper, dragging the denim down his thick thighs. She bent and kissed his erection through the fabric of his boxers. He jerked and moaned.
