Olivia couldn’t deny food right then, she was starving. She opened the container and grabbed the plastic fork, starting to pick at the chicken breast in it.
“So why wait the two months? And why two months?” she asked him, taking a bite of it.
“I’m the one who asked for two months,” he told her, hand still rubbing her leg. “I need time to sort some possibilities out for us before changing you.”
“Possibilities?” she repeated out of confusion.
Gabriel bit his lip, looking nervous to say anything. Olivia placed a hand over his, his eyes fluttering up to hers before looking back to her.
“You can tell me, Gabriel. I want to know. I’m not going to be upset or anything with you…”
He looked away, clearly uncomfortable with the entire situation. His eyes looked everywhere but her face as he tried to compose himself enough to tell her. Olivia had to admit that it was adorable when he was so nervous. Her hand squeezed his, and he looked down to her once again.
“Well… since we have a deadline… it’ll be the only chance we have to have a child,” he started slowly. “I know we’ve only been together for a short time, but we’re going to have eternity. And I don’t want you to regret not being able to have children. And we’d be one of the first vampires to raise a child.”
Olivia’s jaw dropped, realizing then what she had heard him, Ezekiel, and Matilda talking about that night. She hadn’t dreamed it. He wanted to have a baby with her… She wasn’t going to lie, the thought was nerve wracking. She was still in her early twenties, and she didn’t think she was ready for a baby… But, Gabriel was right. If she didn’t have a baby soon, she never would.
“Through a shaman?” she asked to clarify.
He gave her a wild look, so Olivia continued, “I heard you, Matilda, and Ezekiel talking about it that night. I was still really drunk and thought I was having an in-depth dream.”
“Oh,” he mumbled.
Gabriel paused for a moment, feeling a bit embarassed that Olivia had overheard their earlier conversation.
“Well, essentially, yes. He says he has the cure for vampire infertility, but it’s only temporary so you couldn’t carry the child full term if it were you that was a vampire. Hell, I don’t think you could even get pregnant. It only lasts a day, I think.”
There was a small pause before he rushed to add in, “But if you don’t want to, then we don’t have to. Just… it’ll be our only shot. There’s no guarantee it’ll work, but there’s a chance.”
Olivia chewed on her lip, “I don’t know… can I have some time to think about it?” she asked.
He nodded, giving a weak, forced smile, “Of course.”
Gabriel leaned in and kissed her lips. He then climbed into the bed with her, putting an arm around her and holding her close to him as he ate. Both of their minds were heavy.
CHAPTER TEN
Gabriel held Olivia’s hand the entire time they checked out in the hospital, the cab ride back to her apartment, and on the way to her apartment. She was relieved to have him with her. If she was honest, the whole thing had left her terrified of being alone. It seemed like every time she was alone, she would make one bad call, and she would nearly die. And the rogues were still out there, waiting the sixty days to claim her blood—well, then it was fifty-seven. It was scary to think about the countdown to Olivia’s death or rebirth. Talk about an impending existential crisis.
They moved into her room and she laid down on her bed, Gabriel flopping down next to her. She looked over to him and noticed then the dark circles around his eyes. A frown came to her face. He hadn’t fed in four days, he must have been itching to get come. Olivia understood his hesitation to ask to feed, though. After all, she had just been drained of four pints of her own blood and replaced with four pints of a stranger’s blood. It was a really weird thought that she didn’t like to think about. And even with the trauma the last couple of weeks had left on her, he still needed to feed. She hated seeing him so weak and malnourished.
“Hey,” she called softly to him, turning her head to the side to look at him as they laid there.
He looked at her, his gray eyes looking worn out. “It’s okay, sweetheart. I know you need to feed.”
“No, Liv—”
“Don’t say anything. You know you need to feed. I’m okay with it. Really. You’re the only one I ever want to feed from me,” she told him, craning her neck over to brush her nose against his, giving him a soft smile.
Olivia wasn’t exactly thrilled about the idea of it all but knew she needed to move past it. She didn’t want Ethel and her goons to have a hold over her.
“It’s okay, Gabe…” she tried to encourage.
He was hesitant, nibbling at his lip in a nervous manner. For a man so fearless and strong, he sure did get nervous around her a lot. She found it adorable, though.
“Okay… but you need to tell me if I take too much. And we’ll get you dinner right after,” he finally agreed.
“I always tell you if you start to take too much, goober,” she tested him.
She kissed his cheek and then turned her head to give him access to her neck. His fingertips grazed across the sensitive skin, being careful not to touch any of the wounds. Slowly, he moved to her and kissed down her neck, to her shoulder. The doctors had bandaged up his puncture wounds as well. He trailed to the very end of her shoulder. Giving her several kisses on the shoulder, he slowly bit into her with his fangs. Olivia winced, not prepared for it, despite him taking his time. It was just proving to be hard to tell herself he didn’t mean any harm by it.
But then, as it had every time Gabriel fed from her, pleasure began to course through her veins as he drained some of her blood from them. Her body was reminded why it was so different when he did it. It was intimate and gentle, Gabriel making sure to make her as comfortable as possible. And when the pleasure came into play, it was enjoyable rather than degrading. She let out a breathy moan at the sensation.
Unable to help himself after four days of not being able to touch her, Gabriel reached into the front of her leggings as he fed from her shoulder. He took his time feeding, only taking in a little bit at a time to make sure he didn’t take too much and that she could enjoy herself. His fingers slipped into her panties, and he traced down her sex. He rubbed and pinched lightly at her to tease her as he fed. Soon enough, her body was squirming for his touch. Her sex became slick as she really gave into the pleasure of him feeding from her.
Two of his fingers pushed into her then, earning a gasp from her. He pushed his fingers in and out slowly, Olivia’s hips instinctively bucking into his hand. She reached over and unbuttoned his jeans, unzipping them and pulling his boxers down a bit. Letting his erection out of the constricting pants, she began to stroke him. He let out a lowly growl, speeding up his fingers and curving the angle a bit and hitting against her inner walls. Olivia moaned, stroking him faster as well. There was something so intimate about touching one another, it was ridiculously hot to her.
When he finally finished feeding and pulled away, her body was basically screaming for his. But before she could express that, he was laying on top of her and pulling her leggings off, along with her panties. Gabriel only shrugged his pants down before he grabbed his member by the hilt and pushed it into her. Her legs wrapped around his hips, her breathing becoming labored as he moved his pelvis in a quick, rocking motion.
God, he was perfect. Her hands went into his hair, gripping lightly at the raven locks. He dipped his face and seized her lips, his tender ones crashing against hers in a feverish kiss. Even when their actions were filled with such lust and desire, there was always an underlying intimacy and love. It was something that made Olivia believe they were in it for the long hall. He pushed into her at the perfect angle, hitting the sensitive spot in her sex with each pump.
“Oh god,” he breathed against her lips, his hands going to grip her hips to help hold her steady as he picked up his speed.
Pleasure coursed th
rough their bodies, aching for each other in ways they didn’t even know possible after only being away from one another for four days. Olivia honestly didn’t think she could ever live without him. Some would call her a fool since she hadn’t known him long at all, but she felt it in her heart. He was her soulmate.
His hips sped up even more, his hands gripping hard to her as he grew towards climax already. Pulling away from her lips, he buried his face in her shoulder. Gabriel pushed her pelvis back, beginning to push himself in at the perfect angle. Olivia’s legs tightened around them, her breathing ragged.
“I love you…” he breathed as he kept going, just on the brink of his orgasm.
Olivia grabbed his face with both hands, kissing his bearded face with all her might and all her passion she held for him.
“I love you too,” she whispered against his lips.
He let out a loud groan. Olivia rocked her hips against his quickly. Simultaneously, they reached climax together. Their movements instantly slowed, each panting as they struggled to pull themselves together. Typically they could go at it for hours, but it had been a stressful and emotional week. They were both satisfied and loved one another, that was all that mattered.
He covered her face with kisses before rolling off of her and putting his member back in his boxers, shrugging his pants off all the way. Gabriel sat up a bit to pull off his shirt before laying back down. Olivia remained pantless in her t-shirt as she scooted over to him and snuggled into his side. He placed an arm around her, and they laid there in silence, just relaxing.
After regaining her composure, Olivia’s mind started to become distracted again by their earlier conversation. It really would be their only chance to have a child, and she was sure he was her soulmate. What was wrong with having a family early? By the time the baby would be born, they would have been together over a year. She knew several couples that got married after a year of dating and immediately got pregnant after that. What was the difference?
Perhaps she was acting out of whim because of how much love she was filled with, but Olivia felt certain she wanted to try having a child with the help of the shaman. He would be an amazing father with how protective and caring he was. There wasn’t a doubt in her mind that they could do it. It would be difficult, and she was sure there would many tough situations that arise from the fact that they were both going to be vampires. She also wouldn’t be able to go and see her family whenever she wanted—if at all. But Gabriel was her eternity, she would be a fool to not and try to have a family with him.
Olivia turned to Gabriel, “I want to try it,” she told him confidently.
“Try what?” he asked, a little thrown off by her sudden outburst.
“I want to try the shaman… If it’s our only chance, we need to take it,” she told him, locking eyes with his.
His eyes stared back into hers, surprise and giddiness shining in his eyes, “Are you sure?” he breathed.
Olivia gave him a nod. Gabriel grinned ear to ear and pulled her tight against him, giving her the biggest kiss possible on her cheek.
“You have no idea how happy that makes me, Liv. I’ve waited so long for this… I’m so elated it’s with you,” he breathed, his thumb stroking her cheek.
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous. I am, but I’m excited too,” she told him with a smile. “You’re my forever, Gabriel. I will do anything to invest in our life together. If this is our only opportunity, then it would be stupid not to take it.”
“I love you so much, Olivia,” he breathed.
“I love you too,” she smiled, kissing him softly.
Silence fell over the room then. Olivia’s heart was fluttering, riddled with nerves about their new endeavor. She couldn’t believe within the next two months, she would potentially be getting pregnant with his child. It felt like an insane thought, and she knew they wouldn’t be able to tell anyone that it was planned because of how they would judge. But, really, overall, she was excited. It was hard to wrap her head around, but she knew it would be worth it. While Gabriel was her forever, it didn’t mean a little boy or girl couldn’t become a part of their forever as well.
“We’ll be an immortal family,” she whispered in Gabriel’s ear.
Gabriel gave a little nod, a big smile spreading across his chiselled features, “Yes we will babe…we’ll be the happiest family in the history of vampires.”
Olivia’s head rested on his shoulder, both of them lost in thought as they relaxed. There was no going back, they were going to do it. Her head buzzed with these thoughts until she dozed off into a nap, her mind trying to picture what a child of theirs would look like. They had a lot ahead of them in the next year, but she was ready to brave it with him.

Preview of Book 3:
“Do you want to run that by me one more time?” Ethel asked through gritted teeth as she sat across from them in the booth in the bar.
“I said Olivia is pregnant, and it’s my child,” Gabriel spoke calmly. “So you can’t turn her, or kill her, without killing my child.”
Ethel’s jaw clenched, furious eyes darting from Gabriel to the human before standing. “This isn’t over, Gabriel. Even though you cheated me, don’t think the nest won’t turn on you for dragging them down.”
After a long and painful process, Gabriel had transformed into a human long enough to impregnate Olivia. And while it felt like their lives were coming together, the nest was going to prove that to be wrong. A few months into Olivia’s pregnancy, a couple of humans are drained in town, and the nest is forced to leave. Meaning Olivia has to leave her human life behind to join Gabriel and the nest to keep their growing family together. Their lashing out doesn’t stop there, continually adding stress to Olivia’s pregnancy. Gabriel is just trying to hold together his family and his nest, but soon realizes he may have to choose between the two, or risk losing everything he has.

Prequel (“Life In Between”)
Flora craned her neck to expose her neck completely to him. “Oh god, I can’t believe I-I’m doing this,” she breathed, alcohol heavy in her breath.
Little did she know, nothing was coming of it. Gabriel would take what he wanted from her and leave—and all he wanted was her blood.
For the past thousand years, Gabriel’s life had become a mind-numbing routine. He wondered the earth with his ragtag nest of vampires, ranging from ancient to just a few decades old. They drifted town to town, taking in the local culture—well, as much as you could gather from the inside of their ‘finest’ dive bars. Booze, blood, and running was all their lives contained. For some it was like an endless party, but for Gabriel it was a dark, empty cage. His heart still ached for the love he had lost so long ago, his wife Genevieve. But it had been nearly a millennium since her death and he has to decide whether he will continue to wallow in his depression, or pull himself from the darkness to be the strongest leader he can be.
