Miles’s eyes flickered toward me. There was a suspicious glint in his gaze, and suddenly, I knew.
He played hooky like it was a sport, and he was dying for me to be his excuse. I wouldn’t allow it. Surely as I knew that my name was Bianca Brosnan, I couldn’t allow this to happen. Titus had already yelled at him once.
I would have to persevere, even though my ankle did hurt and my body ached. I refused to be the weak link. “I’m perfectly fine,” I told them, forcing my expression to stay impassive. “Then we’ll go about our usual day and plan to meet here again tomorrow night?”
Titus didn’t comment on the crestfallen expression on Miles’s face, even though his mouth twitched slightly. “Sounds like a plan,” he said. “Just make sure to stay out of trouble until tomorrow night.”
So, just avoid Finn. Got it.
