  “Samantha Weber,” I said, smiling confidently.

  “Ah, like the grill: classic, good looking, sleek lines, and I bet you can cook,” he said, then abruptly saluted. “Well, I sure hope I’ll see you around, Samantha.”

  It was time for me to go in anyway so I got up, opened the screen slider, but then glanced back at him as he walked away. He turned back to me at the same time, gave me another wave then continued strolling down the boardwalk.

  He was an attention-grabbing character to say the least.

  Journal lesson learned?

  You never know what you’ll discover at the beach.
