“Mitzi Dante Febere tells us that the chaos in the world of humans hasn’t peaked yet. There are certain events that are scheduled to happen, and they WILL happen I am convinced…that are a potential threat to all life forms. .”
Mitzi frowned.
“Like…a meteor hit?” she guessed.
Cass nodded sagely.
“Uh-huh..and worse. This is going to be a rough period. Not telling how it could end up.” He said soberly, adding,”But Dante had a suggestion…one that I am inclined to accept. After we explain and put it to a community vote. Everyone needs to agree on a course of action of course.”
“So what IS it?” Mitzi asked impatiently, ”What is the GRAND SOLUTION to all of this?”
Cass grabbed an apple, tossed it in the air and caught it in his mouth like a dog, making Mitzi laugh. Then he crunched into it and smiled as he chewed.
“Dante is going to put us into the inter dimensional plane for awhile,. Where he resides most of the time. We’ll be neighbors with the Marble City!”
Mitzi’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“Can he really do that? What if it goes wrong? We could end up vaporized or something Cass!”Mitzi protested.
Cass jumped up from the couch he’d plopped on and gathered her in his arms.
“My skeptical newbie vampire darling,” he crooned ,”There is so much magic in the world Mitzi! You just haven’t been around long enough to realize it! Yes it is possible, and even probable, if I have MY way! It would be like a stress free vacation for a few months. I don’t know about YOU but I could use a vacation!”
Mitzi was silent for a moment, then she sighed and relaxed against her husband and lover.
“I will follow you anywhere, Cass. And I trust you implicitly, as I am sure our human population will when you explain it and ask for their vote. I am sure those apprenticing, especially Jaxon and Rosalie, will be delighted that we are near by even if they are cloistered because of their apprenticeship. There is definitely something reassuring about proximity to those that we love. And another thing—everyone is still talking about the Marble City in all of it’s wonders. We have done the best that we can for the New City but culturally we are somewhat limited. It would be wonderful to be able to access the zoo and the planetarium and the library at Castle Febere. These next few months will be very formative for Liam. It would be an amazing environment for him to grow up in. What do you think?”
“I think it is VERY opportune that this option has presented itself! It also causes me to believe that Dante Febere knows more about what environmental calamities are destined to fall upon our earth than he is willing to reveal at this time. For him to attempt to slide us into the same interdimensional realm that the Marble City exists in is unprecedented , It also tells me two things:ONE- things on earth are on course to become VERY dangerous to all forms of life, and TWO-the Mage himself wants to keep us close for some reason…under a watchful eye so to speak. Well I am good with both of those. Also—“
Mitzi interrupted by laughing lightly.
“ALSO you are itching for new adventures! I KNOW you Castor! You love pulling up stakes and confronting new challenges! It’s one of the things that I love about you. And now that I understand that this temporary relocation will afford us safety and well being…I don’t see how I, or anyone else in the New City community could object.
Two days later an amazed crowd was gathered around the circular focal point of New City, gaping in wonder at the lifelike and respendent holographic image of Mage Dante Febere addressing them. Unable to perform the Magick and mechanisms on site that were necessary to transport the entire mountaintop town to occupy space on the same interdimensional estate as the Marble City while also being present on location in New City, Dante had elected to address them in this fashion. Among the crowd were Faun and Fressenda. Faun was pregnant with what would be Charley Rabbit’s only progeny. Also, standing protectively alongside Raine, were expectant fathers Lux and Pierre. Raine was almost eight months pregnant with ‘their’ child who they had agreed would be raised by all three of them, and Lux and Pierre stayed at her beck and call as she moved ever closer to giving birth for the first time. They had all agreed on the name ”Rise” for the infant, chosen because it would be appropriate for a child of either sex.
There was slight disagreement on how it should be pronounced however, and this was the subject of many ongoing discussions between the three of them.
A hush fell over the crowd as the famous Mage began to speak.
“Inhabitants of New City, I thank you for the trust and confidence that you have placed in me, and I welcome this opportunity to contribute to a sound future for both creature phylums represented here. You are a irrefutable example of how a symbiotic relationship can exist between creatures once reduced to being labeled as ‘predator’ and ‘prey’. This can become a new age for you…but only if you are able to survive the coming natural disasters.
I wish there were an easier way. In a sense your teleportation to the in between realm will snatch you out of harm’s way. When you return it will be as though no time has passed at all for your bodies.. I wish I had better news to bring you, and that I could assure that you will be safe remaining on the earthly plane…
Unfortunately I cannot.
We will start the process of teletransporting this place in approximately one minute. You should feel a slight sensation all over your body that is similar to the ‘pins and needles’ feeling you get when a limb has fallen asleep. To you it will seem as if nothing has changed. But I assure you that you will be able to see the spires of the Marble City from the steps of your Town Hall when the transporting is finished. You need do nothing special. Some of you might want to hold hands. In 15 seconds my image will fade and the process will begin. Farewell…and welcome! I will be there on the other side , in the flesh, to greet you!”
All those gathered watched, spellbound, as Dante Febere’s image faded to a colorful and glistening shimmer in the air, and then disappeared entirely like a whisp of smoke. The disappearance of his holographic image seemed to usher in a silence afterward, but it was a beautiful silence, full of anticipation and gratitude and hope.
Only Cass was bold enough to comment before the transition. With the air of an adventure loving male energy he pulled his Mitzi and baby Liam in more closely to himself and said aloud,
“Lean in everyone-this is going to be EPIC!”
