He wanted to kiss those sweet lips, suck on her perfect tits that were full and round and glorious, and rub his hands down her luscious curves, but her pussy needed him. He nabbed her clit again. Each time he touched that tiny bud, she lifted her hips, and her sex perfumed the air.
Her thighs strained as she tried to pull them together. Nothing would make him happier than to have her wrap her legs around his waist, but he’d be a goner in seconds if he let her. The image of lifting her legs over his shoulder so he could feast on her honeyed juice had pre-cum leaking out of his cock.
He couldn’t believe he’d bragged he could go hours. He was already near to bursting. Oh, hell. He had to have her.
He inched his way up her body, licking her belly and dipping his tongue into her adorable belly button.
“Mmm.” Her lips pressed together as if she was working hard not to talk.
He smiled. She was a good girl. He pushed away other images of binding her, spanking her until her ass turned red, and blindfolding her.
Fuck. He couldn’t take it any longer.
He crawled on top of her and kissed her hard. The head of his cock breached her sopping-wet pussy. She opened her mouth, and instead of her taking control, let him delve in first. Their tongues dueled and sparred, dipped and parried. She tasted of red wine, sweet and full-bodied.
Don’t rush.
He pressed his cock into her, and once he got going, he couldn’t stop. Her slick walls sucked him right in. The moment he hit the end, he zoomed right to heaven. His balls tightened, and he dropped his head on her shoulder. His cocked pulsed and throbbed.
“I want you so bad,” he whispered. He wanted to last, wanted to love her, but he was weak.
“Me, too.”
Her admission undid all of his resolve. He slid out and plowed back in. The friction rubbed his cock the right way, and the easy way she took him in was glorious. Fuck. This woman was just plain perfect.
He arched his back enough to have access to her nipples. He rubbed the tip as he plundered her body. Every sweep took him closer to the edge, but it was her moans that undid him.
“I’m coming!” Her quick breaths, open mouth, and wide eyes confirmed her climax had swept through her with a fury.
The moment she wiggled her hips, he was a goner. He dropped his head on her shoulder and fucked her hard and fast. Passion invaded his body, escalating the tension, until he boiled over.
His cock expanded and his jism shot out of him. He slid his hands behind her back and held her close. His heart pounded hard, and he worked to keep his breaths under control.
“God, Candy.”
She dropped her head back and sucked in breaths. They’d done something so special, and he never wanted to let her go. But he had to. For now.
Even though she was tied to his bed, she didn’t act as if she wanted him to ever leave either. That brought a smile.
Move.
Her arms must be asleep. He pulled out and moved to the head of the bed. He untied the rope and lowered her arms. “You okay?”
She still hadn’t caught her breath so she nodded.
As quickly as he could, he undid the restraints on her ankles. From the side table, he picked up the key and undid the cuffs.
“Just a sec.”
On rather unstable legs, he rushed to the bathroom, dampened a towel, and returned. He swiped her clean and rubbed his cock dry.
He looked down at her. “You were incredible.”
She grinned and sat up. “Ditto.”
He sat on the edge of the bed. “We make a good team, don’t we?” He meant more than just the spa.
“We do.”
He looked around. “I see only your pants and panties are here.” The rest of her clothes were near the center island. “I guess we’ll have to go naked.”
She sat up and pulled on her panties and pants. “Let’s go.”
He shot off the bed and raced her into the kitchen. Her laughter got his cock hard again. That wasn’t good.
She stooped down, picked up her bra, and pulled it on. That simple act of dressing excited him. Christ. This collaborative effort might not work if he couldn’t keep his mind off sex.
Like that’s going to happen.
He wanted to gauge her reaction regarding having made love with Blade. More than anything he wanted the three of them to be together. No doubt she liked what he did, but was she as enthusiastic with Blade as she had been with him? Sharing her would depend totally on whether she found them equally exciting.
“We had one piece of luck today.” He winked.
She stepped into her boot and glanced up. “What? I got funding?”
“I was talking about the fact no one walked in on us.”
As expected, she stilled. Keeping her head down, she busied herself with the other boot. Sooner or later she’d have to straighten. He was willing to give her time to come up with a response.
She stood. “I gather Blade told you?”
He wasn’t quite sure if she was upset or not. Candy was good at keeping her cool. That was an important trait to possess when running a business. “Yup. How did that go? Blade told me he actually felt bad for taking you so fast.”
Her head tilted. “He said that?”
“Yeah. Did you feel the same?” He wiggled his fingers by his side waiting for her answer.
She glanced to the side. “No. It was like he was made of pure dynamite and I happened to be holding a match.”
He burst out laughing. “I love the description. If Blade asked you how things went between us, what would you say?” He never asked a woman if his performance stood up to scrutiny. Now he wanted to know.
“Wonderful, warm, slow, loving, caring. Should I go on?” She ran her tongue along her teeth.
His cock threatened to cut loose again, and he cleared his throat. “I think maybe I should stick to questions regarding business plans.” It was a lot safer.
* * * *
Candy had never had such an up and down day in her life. Making love twice in one day had been a first and rated up there as a total highlight. Having someone key a borrowed car came close to the bottom. But it was the bank loan falling through that might have been a blessing in disguise. Now she had Daniel as a partner.
Courtney texted that she’d sent in the bid for the house. Once the owners accepted, Candy would get together with Blade about renovations. He was sure to have a lot of great suggestions. Hopefully, he knew all the requirements to bring such an old house up to code.
Even though it was only a little past six, she yawned. “I’m sorry. Hard day.”
Daniel rubbed her shoulder. “You want me to drive you straight home, or are you interested in dinner?”
She didn’t want to get used to spending all her time with him. “I think I’ll take a pass. A nap seems to be in my future.”
Mandy’s fridge contained quite a lot of food. Her friend instructed her to eat as much as she could, claiming that by the time they returned from their honeymoon, the food would have spoiled.
“No problem.” He grabbed her coat off the sofa as well as his own. “What are you going to do about getting a rental car?”
Too much stimulation had corrupted her brain. At some point she’d have to go to the store for supplies. Then renting a car would become a necessity. Imposing on either Daniel or Blade any more than needed wouldn’t do. “Can I figure it out tomorrow?” All she could focus on was soaking in the tub and drinking a glass of wine.
He chuckled. “You bet.” He snatched his keys from the counter and escorted her downstairs.
The drive to Mandy’s house was pleasant. The hue over the distant mountains went from light purple to dark plum. It seemed like only minutes before he pulled under the porte cochere.
“When you hear back from Courtney, let me know,” Daniel said. “We’ll take it from there.”
“I will. Thanks for the partnership. Without you, I never could have realized my dream.”
“Anytim
e.” He winked. “And I mean it.”
He clearly got her double entendre. She scooted out of his SUV. Before she closed the door, she leaned in. “I can’t tell you how much your supp—”
“I’m happy to do it. It’s a good investment for me.”
She couldn’t tell how much of his action was selfish and how much he liked her. You’ll probably never know.
She waited for Daniel to take off before heading inside. All the workers had left. She doubted they’d passed Blade on the road, as she would have recognized his paint-splattered truck. Regardless, tonight would be spent coming up with some designs for the spa. Courtney thought the sale should go through very soon.
The Callen home was eerily quiet but also colder than she remembered. She flicked on the light and headed to the fireplace to start a fire.
A whistling sound came from the sliding glass door. Assuming one of the workers had left it open, she stepped closer and then halted.
“Oh, my God. This can’t be happening again.”
The glass in the sliding glass door had a big hole in it. She jiggled the handle and the door opened. Why wasn’t it locked? Bad thoughts streamed through her mind and she jerked around.
Oh, shit. Oh, shit. Was someone inside? Had she interrupted a robbery? She stilled to listen for the slightest noise but the blood pounding in her ears prevented her from hearing anything.
Move!
She couldn’t just stand there. She needed to call someone. Blade. He’d know if one of the workers did the damage. Or should she just call 9-1-1?
She trusted Blade. He’d tell her whether it was faster to call the sheriff or wait for him. Daniel was driving and might not hear his phone.
Just call.
She retrieved her cell from her purse. When she’d waited for Daniel to pick her up from the automotive place, she’d put both of their numbers in her contact list. She had a feeling she’d be calling them often. She dialed Blade.
“Candy? Something wrong?” He answered right away.
If his crew had been responsible, he’d know why she was calling. Her thoughts jumbled and the words barely came out. “I’m scared. Someone broke the glass in Vince’s sliding glass door.”
“Holy fuck. I’m on my way. Hide!”
He disconnected before she had to chance to tell him she didn’t think anyone was there. Or were they? Large homes like this one had plenty of hiding places.
Pulse pounding, she grabbed her purse and rushed outside. If she could get to the barn, she could saddle a horse. This would give her the option of escaping if anyone came near.
In the few minutes since she’d returned home, night had descended. Clouds obscured the moon, casting the path in almost complete darkness. She took out her phone and clicked on the flashlight app to help guide her. Just as quickly she turned it off.
Stupid, Candy.
If someone was watching, he could easily follow the light from her phone into the barn. She stood still trying to decide what to do. Her eyes slowly adjusted to the darkness. If she called Blade again, anyone near could hear her.
If anyone had broken in with the intent to harm her, the person would already have attacked her, right? Or was this person taking advantage of the fact the owners were on their honeymoon, and had come to rob them, not to harm her?
She needed to stop second-guessing herself and follow Blade’s instruction.
The cold wind cut right through her jacket, and she shivered. Christ. She was too tired to think clearly. The nearest Callen ranch was only a few miles away. Perhaps she should get on her horse and head to the road. Indecision tugged at her. None of her suggestions sounded any good, but getting out of the wind seemed wise.
Careful not to twist her slightly sore ankle, she moved slowly, picking her way across the scrub. She played tennis at a country club that had stables, but unlike Mandy, she didn’t often ride.
By the time she made it to the barn, her heart was beating so fast, she was almost warm. She had never been inside this stable, but Mandy had mentioned they had four horses for the family to ride.
Emergency lights on opposite sides of the barn lit her way as she entered. The sweet smell of hay filled her nostrils, and snickers and whinnies greeted her.
A crunching noise sounded outside and she whipped around. A horse snorted. Her stomach lurched.
Chapter Eleven
If she fell apart now, she’d be caught. She froze.
“Candy?”
Her legs weakened. It was Blade. Jeez. She was a basket case. “In here.” Her voice squeaked. She cleared her throat and raised her voice in case he hadn’t heard her over the whipping wind. “I’m in the barn, Blade.”
No answer. Maybe he’d gone into the house looking for her. Instead of heading across the dark expanse, she waited.
“Stay where you are.”
“Okay.” She edged to the barn door and looked out.
Blade held a flashlight. He didn’t seem concerned about someone seeing him. The light bounced as if he was jogging. Seconds later he reached her and she threw herself in his arms. “I’m sorry.”
He kissed the top of her head. “Sorry for what?”
“For dragging you out here.”
“I was at Veronica and Josh’s house next door. They’d invited Dustin, Colby, Tracy, and me to dinner.”
At least he hadn’t been at home. “Did you see anyone inside?”
“I haven’t looked, nor do I intend to just yet. I called the sheriff as well as my window guy. Both are on their way.” She shivered. “Let’s wait in my truck. It’ll be warmer.”
Warm was good.
With an arm around her waist, Blade led her toward the house. He pulled a blanket from the back of his truck, helped her in, and placed it on her legs. He got in and locked the doors.
He faced her. “Tell me everything.”
She inhaled. “I don’t know anything. Daniel dropped me off and—”
“Daniel? What was he doing here?”
Crap. Blade probably didn’t know about the loan, the scratched car, the lovemaking, or anything. Not wanting to have any secrets she told him everything.
He picked up her hand. “Someone is out to get you.”
Her heart fluttered. Hearing him draw the same conclusion convinced her she wasn’t going crazy, but she wanted to hear his theory. “Why would you say that?”
“Babe. Think about it. You get run off the road and then Mandy’s car is keyed. When the sheriff arrives we’ll check to see if anything is taken. I’m thinking whoever broke in wasn’t looking to steal anything. Rather he wanted to scare you.”
“He succeeded.” She hoped that was all he wanted to do. “Now what happens?”
“Even if my window man is able to repair the window, there’s no telling what this crazy person might do.”
She recalled the woman who stalked Mandy. Although the ex-fiancée had hired someone to do the dirty work, she was ultimately responsible. Blade didn’t exactly answer her question. Staying in a hotel for a few weeks would be expensive, but perhaps she could get a volume discount. This so sucked. “Who hates me that much? I just got here.”
Flashing lights turned down the drive and she sat up straighter.
“Don’t worry.” Blade smiled. “It’s just Will. He likes a grand entrance. Let’s see if he can find the answer.”
The sheriff and another man climbed out of their cruiser. She and Blade got out. He shook hands with both Will Sutton and the other officer.
“Candy, you’ve met Will Sutton at the wedding. This other gentleman is Officer Tanner Glen.”
She nodded. The lights above them were dim, but the officer looked to be around thirty, a few years younger than Will.
The sheriff faced her. “Let me and Tanner check things out before we take your statement. Front door open?”
“Yes.” The sliding glass door was as well.
Instead of suggesting they sit in the cab while the lawmen searched the house, Blade pulled her into
an embrace and rubbed her back and arms, warming her up. He smelled like paint and cement dust.
Not long after they entered, the sheriff and his deputy exited. “All clear. Want to step out of the cold and tell me what happened?”
They both went inside. She restated what she’d told Blade, which wasn’t much.
The officer took notes. Sutton removed his hat and dragged a hand through his thick hair. “When did you say you arrived in Intrigue?”
“And in that time you’ve been unlucky twice in one day? Hmm.”
“Could these attacks be targeted at Mandy and not me?”
The sheriff shook his head. “Everyone involved with her is in jail.”
Blade glanced at her. “Tell him about the car accident.”
The sheriff stood up straighter. “When did this happen?”
She went through the whole ordeal again. “I thought the person might have been drunk.”
“It’s possible. No one incident implies someone is out to scare you, but three in such a short period of time has my attention.”
Blade placed a hand on her waist. “What about your ex-husband? Mandy told Daniel you have a restraining order against him.”
The sheriff leaned closer.
“Rick drinks. He was violent once or twice, but I don’t see him for this. I know he didn’t want me to leave Denver, but he’d never drive two hours to harass me.”
Or would he?
The sheriff noted Rick’s name, address, and business. “I’ll give someone in Denver a call to see if Rick has an alibi for tonight.”
“Thanks. What should I do now? And please don’t say borrow another car. If you all didn’t live so freaking far apart, I’d get a bike.”
Everyone chuckled, most likely to cut the tension.
“Can you stay with a friend?” Will offered. “Even if we could replace the sliding glass door tonight, this place isn’t secure.”
“Mandy is my only friend.”
Blade placed a hand on her arm. “She’ll be staying with me and Daniel.”
Her pussy rejoiced, but her brain resisted. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Both men messed with her mind. Besides, she wasn’t their responsibility. It wouldn’t be fair to them. It didn’t matter if she and Daniel were now financial partners.
