Beautifully Broken (The Denver Series Book 2) Page 35

Which is one of the reasons I knew she would stay.

I watched Raphe and his woman laugh by the car as the older man packed the trunk, his father, I assumed. They drove out of the terminal parking as I leaned against a wall, blending in.

I dialled the number. “It’s me.”

  “Tell me.”

“You were right, he took the girl to Neroni’s this afternoon, and they spent hours there,” I said as I started to walk to my own car. “I mean hours.”

  “And then?”

“I’m at Denver International. His parents just flew in.”

  “He’s making his move.”

Was he? Or was Raphe just, for once, being happy? “He could be,” I said as I stopped to look over my shoulder, checking out the ass of the blonde hottie who had just walked past me.

“So my intel was right, she’s a relative of that slime Neroni.”

  “DNA isn’t confirmed,” I cautioned.

“If Neroni has a relative, and it’s that girl, do you know what happens?”

“Yes.” My eyes rolled as I got in my rental car. “Raphe becomes head of the family when Louis dies and wifey says she defers to her husband.”

“That’s a Lastra on the East Coast, and a Lastra in Colorado. What’s next? Us?”

“Possibly.” Never going to happen, Raphe didn’t care that much.

“Your uncle worked too hard for this family for some wannabe and a worthless whore off the street to take it from him. They need to be stopped.”

“Or, Aunt Anna-Maria, he could just be a man, taking a vacation off work while his parents are in town to meet his girlfriend.”

“Come home,” Anna-Maria ordered me. “I need you here.”

“Okay.” I hesitated and then asked, “Why?”

“Harmony is restless. You know you’re the only one who can soothe her.”

I shouldn’t have asked. I should have known it was about her. “Okay,” I said again.

“And, Cameron, don’t think I don’t understand your lingering affections for Raphael, but you are a Sabino, and family comes first. Always.”

  “I’ll be home tomorrow, Aunt.”

I hung up and looked in the mirror. The blonde with the hot ass was heading my way. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not. With a huge smile, I got out of the car.

“Hi, I’m Cam,” I told her, taking in her tight rack and her long legs. “You coming or going?”

“I work here,” she said with a slight smile.

“Do you?” My eyes ran over her slowly. “Well, it must be my lucky day.”

The phone ringing caused me to frown, I knew the ringtone. I could ignore her. I should ignore her.

  “What?” I answered.

  “I’m bored.”

“Go get a job,” I snarked.

“Suck a dick,” Harmony bitched at me.

“Only if you suck mine first, cousin.”

She hung up on me, and with a smile, I looked up to talk to the blonde, who was walking away from me. Even in another state, my cousin was a cock-blocking bitch. With a sigh, I got back into the car.
