"Yes."
"Then you know it's true," Conner said. "You know I'm right. It's time for us to find people we'll be able to spend the rest of our lives with, Harper. I care about you, but that's just not enough."
"I'm sorry I couldn't love you the same way," Harper said.
"Never apologize for that," Conner said, flashing one of his grins. "We're still going to be here, together for a long time, Harper. But I haven't given up. I don't know if I ever will. But for now, let's just see what the future holds, alright?"
"Alright," Harper said.
Before she could think of more to say, something to ease her guilt, Marissa appeared. The last time they'd seen her was the night before when she'd cast the spell on Brian.
"It's time," she told Harper. "It's time for you to help the fey."
