“Hi, Jack.” Standing behind him was his father, looking mighty fine in leather and denim.
“I gotta talk with Ms. O’Leary. Go join the other kids for a few minutes, okay?” Chas said.
“Whatcha gotta talk about, Dad?”
“Grown-up stuff. Go on.”
Jack skipped over to the reading table.
Chas tugged Addie behind him until they entered her office. Kicking the door closed with his boot, he pulled her close to him, his mouth crushing hers. With urgency, his tongue pushed through the seam on her lips, and he devoured her mouth with deep, sweeping strokes of his tongue.
A swarm of butterflies flitted in her stomach as the heat of his kiss burned from her head to her curled toes. Pulsing, she yearned for his tongue to flick her sensitive bud to hardness, while filling her aching pussy with his dick. Arching her back, her breasts rubbed against his muscled chest, and her hard nipples strained against her blouse.
Wrapping her arms around his neck, she threaded her fingers through his hair and moaned against his mouth.
“Fuck, precious, I missed your lips,” he whispered as he pulled back, his gaze lingering on her mouth. “Did you miss me?”
Instead of answering, she pulled him close to her, her lips parting his as she drew his tongue into her mouth and sucked it. Chas’s low growl sent shivers down her spine. Brushing her tits against his hard chest, he cupped them. Her nipples pebbled even harder against her blouse as he teased the taut buds between his fingers.
“I want to suck your tits, babe. Fuck, they feel good in my hands. I need to see them,” he rasped, as his mouth trailed kisses along her jaw.
Leaning his knee against her legs, he prodded them open, her wet pussy tight against his leg. As he moved his leg up and down, his hands ran over her curves, landing on her ass.
“Fuck, I love the way you feel.” Massaging her ass, Chas ground his knee into her pussy.
Lightheadedness overtook her and she felt like she was rolling down a steep hill, her stomach tickling, her body weightless. The sweet ache throbbed, tightened, then exploded as Chas swallowed her moans of pleasure in his mouth.
Sweat trickled down from her face and she panted as Chas held her close, her head resting on his chest. He stroked her hair. “That was fuckin’ hot, precious.”
Heat tinted her cheeks. “I’ve never had, you know—the big O—without having intercourse.”
Tilting her chin up, Addie met Chas’s smoldering eyes. “You’ve never been with the right man. Tonight, I’m gonna explore every inch of your delectable body. And you’re going to be very naked.”
Before she could reply, a small knock on the door brought her back to her senses.
“Are you done talking ’bout growed-up stuff?” Jack asked through the door.
With an ear-to-ear grin, Chas said, “Yeah.” He reached out to pull her to him again, but she swatted his hand away.
“I’m coming out now, Jack.” Mortified that she was groping his dad while he and the other students waited for her, she tucked in her blouse, smoothed down her hair, and swiped lip gloss on her swollen lips.
As she opened the door, Chas, his hands on her hips, breathed in her ear, “I’ll pick you up at seven o’clock.”
“I’m not sure about this,” she said, trying to twist out of his grip.
“I am.” His tongue licked her earlobe. “Wear something sexy.” He patted her ass then swaggered out of her office.
Addie had known he was bad news the minute she’d first seen him. Allowing him into her guarded life was her first mistake. Kissing him was her second, because she was most certainly addicted, and like any addict, she craved more of him—her drug. Scared to death of having her heart broken, she knew she should stop this before it was too late. She suspected Chas was only out to have some fun, but she was falling for him.
Pushing thoughts of him aside, she smiled at her small students, sat down, and opened her book.
“Who wants to read first?”
Five eager arms waved in the air.
How less complicated life is when you’re young.
Chapter Sixteen
“I’ll be right down,” her voice crackled through the speaker.
Expecting to be buzzed in, Chas leaned against the porch wall and lit up a joint. He couldn’t figure Addie out—she ran hot and cold. Earlier, in her office, her kisses burned through his body, and she rubbed her pussy against him like a cat in heat. It was fucking hot, and if Jack hadn’t knocked on the door, he would’ve spun her around, bent her over, and rammed his hard cock in her while he pulled down on her nipples.
Adjusting his jeans, he shook his head. A few hours later, and she put a breakwater between them. She was fucking overthinking this thing they had—whatever that was—and no way was he buying into it. A woman who kissed and touched the way she did, was one yearning for his touch and his dick to be snug inside her. He’d humor her and wait for her to come down, but when they came back after dinner, there was no way he’d kiss her on the porch like a teenager. He was going to give her what they’d both been wanting since they laid eyes on each other, when miniature jolts of electricity had coursed between them. That night, he was going to crash against her, breaking down her wall.
Through the glass door, he watched her come down the carpeted steps, the lobby lights bathing her in an amber glow. Chas couldn’t believe how beautiful Addie looked in her tight jeans and cap-sleeved black top. The keyhole cut-out on her top showed enough of a glimpse of her creamy cleavage to drive a man wild. How he wanted to put his tongue through the keyhole and lick the tops of her ample breasts. His cock twitched just picturing it.
When she stepped onto the porch, the scent of cinnamon sugar cookies drifted around him; she smelled innocent and homey, with a touch of nasty. Snatching her against him, his mouth claimed hers, his tongue dipping in while hers stroked it. Pressing closer to him, she moaned as he swept his hands over her body. When his dick strained painfully against his zipper, he pulled back. Addie’s heated gaze held tinges of surprise.
“I want to keep kissing your hot mouth, precious, but if I do, then I’m gonna have to bend you over the bannister and fuck your pussy,” he said in a hoarse voice. “And I’m guessing you’re tingling and wet. Am I right?” Gazing deeply into her wide eyes, his fingers brushed the curve of her breasts.
Rosy streaks crept across her cheeks as she swallowed. With his thumb and forefinger, he pinched her pert nose, a deep chuckle rising from his chest. “You’re so damn tempting. I can’t wait to taste you all over.” Hunger laced the amusement in his ebony eyes.
The flushed streaks turned a cherry red, and she avoided his intense look, focusing on his Harley parked next to the curb.
Laughing, he hugged her tightly, smacked her ass, then breathed in her ear, “We better get going, precious. My gentleman side is about gone.”
Addie nodded. They walked to his Harley, their fingers threaded together.
With an ear-shattering roar, Chas and Addie sped down the street.
They hightailed it through neighborhoods of brick bungalows, pumpkins and scarecrow displays decorating the front yards. Soon, the lights faded and Ghost Pass rose ahead.
A soft glow from the autumn moon stretched across the darkened road and through bare trees, like long, shining fingers. The stars, like luminous pinpricks of glinting silver, stippled the night sky. The riders twisted their way around the mountain pass. Edging close to the rim, darkness spilling down the mountainside, Addie’s hands clung to Chas, her body trembling. The precarious road was a narrow one, snaking up and around in hairpin fashion until it leveled out at the top. The pass was a favorite route for bikers and the unwary tourist during the summer and fall, but during the winter months, it was impassable.
At the top of the pass sat a large roadhouse. The strings of lights around the parking lot twinkled and bounced off the chrome of many motorcycles. Cutting the engine, Chas helped Addie off.
“There’re a lot of bikes
here,” she said breathlessly, the fear of the ride still speckled on her face.
“This is a biker restaurant and bar. The ride can be a bitch, but the burgers and barbecue are fuckin’ worth it.” He hooked his arm around her waist, drawing her next to him. “You weren’t too scared, were you?”
“Sorta. Is there another way up here?”
Laughing, Chas bent down and kissed her neck. “Yeah. We’ll take the citizens’ way home. Come on. I need a beer.”
“After that ride, I need a brandy.” Her soft laughter, like the tinkle of bells, embraced him.
The restaurant’s sounds wafted out the door, beckoning people inside. As Chas and Addie stepped inside, the full force of the noise hit them straight-on: glasses clinking, dishes clattering, music blaring, and bikers talking loudly. The place bustled with people, and waitresses—balancing trays of beer mugs and food—wound their way around the crowd. The tantalizing aroma of fresh onions rings, grilled burgers, and hickory-smoked meats wafted through the roadhouse.
The lively ambience wrapped around them as Chas, holding Addie’s hand, guided her through the throngs of diners to a large outside patio. Heat lamps were strategically placed, warming the customers.
“It’s crazy crowded in here,” Addie noted, as she sat down. “It smells so good. I didn’t realize how hungry I was until I smelled the barbecue sauce.”
“The barbecue is fuckin’ awesome. They do all their own smoking.” Chas sat on a chair next to her. “I thought it would be quieter on the patio. You’re not cold, are you?”
Shaking her head, she said, “No. I like it out here. I think it would be too stuffy inside with all those people.”
The patio had colored lanterns strung under the eaves. They swayed in the wind, casting colored shadows on the bushes below. The hard rock music, vibrating the outside speakers, was more muted than inside, and the steady chatter on the patio did not match the raucous voices inside the bar.
A young waitress dressed in a micro-mini skirt and white shirt, which hugged her large breasts, smiled at Chas and said, “Hiya, Chas. It’s been a while. How’ve you been?” Her brown eyes brimmed with desire, and she shifted closer to him so her thigh touched his arm.
Moving his arm away, he said, “I’ve been fine. Bring us a Coors on draft and your best brandy.” Chas circled his arm around Addie and tugged her close to him.
The waitress’s smile fell, and she threw Addie a look of contempt before she turned around and left.
“She didn’t seem too happy to see me,” Addie said as she relaxed in Chas’s arm. “Did you date her?”
“Date?” He snorted. “I wouldn’t call what we had ‘dating.’ ”
“What would you call it?”
“Fucking.”
Addie gasped then placed her hand over her mouth, her eyes bulging. “You’re so blunt. I can’t get used to that.”
“You asked, and I told you. It’s no big deal. Did you want me to lie to you?”
“No.”
“Then what do you want me to say?”
“So, you and she never went out anywhere? I mean, you just made love, and that’s it?”
“I never took her out to dinner or on my bike, if that’s what you’re asking. And, precious, I didn’t ‘make love’ to her. I fucked her.”
The waitress came back with their drinks, placing Addie’s down hard before brushing Chas’s hand as she gave him his. “Did you want to order something to eat?” she asked, ignoring Addie.
“What do you want, precious?” Chas asked.
“I’ll try the barbecue brisket with corn and coleslaw.”
“Good choice,” Chas said in her ear, then bit it lightly. “I’ll have the hickory burger with fries.”
“You’re looking good, Chas,” the young woman told him after she wrote down their orders.
Nodding, Chas turned toward Addie and kissed her soft cheek. The waitress spun around and stomped off.
“Great, now she’ll probably spit in my food or something,” Addie groaned.
Chuckling, Chas said, “There’s something about you that drives me wild. You’re a very sexy woman, you know?”
She brushed her finger over his bottom lip. “Maybe it’s been one of your fantasies to fuck a librarian.”
Drawing her finger into his mouth, he sucked and bit it. “I bet under your prim-and-proper work clothes, your tits and pussy are covered in sheer lace. You act all business-like, but from the way you kiss, you’re secretly nasty, aren’t you, Ms. O’Leary?” He craned her head sideways and pressed his lips against her perfect ones. Pulling back, he licked his lips. “Delicious,” he said as he winked.
Pinkish-red patches spread over her cheeks, and from the look in her eyes, it came from desire. Oh, yeah, I’m gonna have a good time fuckin’ her tonight.
Clearing her throat, she asked, “How many girlfriends have you had since your divorce?”
“None.”
“You haven’t been with any women? I thought you said you were with the waitress?”
“I told you, we fucked, that was it. Fucking someone doesn’t make her a girlfriend, you know? I’ve fucked lots of whores since my divorce, but I haven’t had a girlfriend.”
She sat still, her mouth opened, her eyes wide. After a few seconds, she said in a low voice, “You paid for sex?”
The not-so-smiley waitress slammed down Addie’s dinner plate in front of her then placed Chas’s dinner in front of him. She gave Chas the basket of cornbread and steaming rolls. Acting as if Addie didn’t exist, she asked him, “Do you want anything else? Anything?” She brushed her knee against his.
“Do you want anything else, precious?” he asked Addie.
She shook her head, her eyes holding an incredulous stare.
Turning to his ex-lay, he said, “My sweetie doesn’t want anything else, and I’m good.”
She rolled her eyes then went to another table.
As Chas ate a mouthful of fries, he buttered a piece of cornbread and handed it to Addie. After swallowing, he said, “The cornbread is the best. They put jalapeños in it.” Staring at her, he asked, “What’s the matter? Aren’t you hungry? You haven’t touched your food.”
“I’m lagging behind you by ten minutes. I’m still waiting for you to answer my question.”
“What’s that?”
“You paid to have sex?”
Jerking in his chair, he dropped his fork and said, “Whoa. What the fuck?”
“That’s what you said.”
“When did I say that? I’ve never had to pay for sex in my life.”
“You said you didn’t have girlfriends, but you had a lot of whores.”
Looking at her serious face, her wide eyes, and her furrowed brows, Chas’s body began to shake. From deep in his chest, the laughter formed, rising up until it expelled from him in a loud guffaw, turning his face red. Seeing Addie’s perturbed face made him laugh harder.
“I’m glad I’m a source of amusement for you,” Addie said, a hint of hurt lacing her tone.
Forcing himself to stop, Chas apologized. “Sorry, it’s just that you took me by surprise. I mean, I’m not used to a woman like you. I’m used to chicks from my world.”
“And what world is that?”
“The outlaw world. We—outlaw bikers—have our own lifestyle and our own set of rules to live by. We don’t live by the citizens’ rules. We’re individuals who bow to no one, test the boundaries of all, and give our devotion to few.”
“Are you happy living that way?”
“Fuck yeah. It’s the only way to live. And the whores I fucked are club whores, but not in the way you’re thinking. They wanna be there, to fuck bikers and shit like that. At the clubhouse, we have the mamas who are club property and wear the club’s patch. We have club whores who have the club’s protection, and then there’re the hoodrats who come for the parties to fuck and get drunk. All the ones I named are there to service the brothers and their friends, whenever and however we want.” Cha
s put his hands on each side of Addie’s face, forcing her to look at him. “Don’t give me that look. The women want to be there. They choose to come, to wear the patches. Insurgents never force women.”
She pushed his hands away. “Does anyone have a regular relationship with a woman, like a girlfriend or getting married?”
“Yeah, of course. Some of the brothers have old ladies. The old ladies wear their man’s patch, and they are respected by the home club, charter clubs, and any other bikers who see the patch. Your lawyer, Cara, she’s Hawk’s old lady.”
“Wow. I didn’t know that. Was Brianna an old lady?”
“When we first hooked up, I was prospecting for the club. After I patched in, yeah, she wore my patch. When we divorced, I took it back. She was more pissed ’bout losing the property patch than she was over our marriage breaking up.” He tossed back the rest of the beer in his bottle and sat back.
As she cut her brisket, Addie asked, “How long have you been a member of your club?”
“I started hanging around the club when I was sixteen years old. Caused a lot of problems at home with my mom and dad, but I was drawn to the life, you know? After a couple of years of being a hang-around, I started prospecting along with a couple of other brothers—Jax and Axe. We’re tight ’cause we were all going through the same shit, you know? Anyway, I was twenty-one when I became a full patched member. This year is my seventh year as a full patch.”
“And this is for life?”
Stopping in mid-air, Chas put his fork down and stared at her straight-on. “Fuck yeah. We’re a brotherhood. We’re a family. We have each other’s backs, no matter what shit happens.”
“It’s great to belong to something you feel strongly about.”
“Yeah. It’s about more than that, but you’re a citizen, so you wouldn’t really understand it.”
“Did Brianna?”
“Sorta. She just wanted to ride on my bike, fuck, and wear my patch. She wasn’t all that complicated.” He laughed as he motioned for another beer.
After she finished her dinner, she pushed her plate away. Gazing out into the darkness, she asked, “Why did Brianna make up all those lies about me to the police? How could she do something like that to an innocent person?”
