Going the Distance (Siren Publishing Classic) Page 15

He smiled at her. “Is there anything really valuable in here?” he asked, pointing at her suitcase.

  “Just clothes.”

The hostess was eager to oblige Brett’s request to store the suitcase in a safe place while they ate. Austin recognized Dale, directing Brett’s attention toward the back of the restaurant. Austin had met Dale on two previous occasions. One was a Skype call during the vacation in which she had met Brett. The second was in a noisy nightclub on her previous visit to the city. This would be the first time that she would have any real dialogue with him.

“Hey there, Austin,” Dale greeted her, standing to offer her a kiss on the cheek. “Good to see you.” Dale introduced them to the petite brunette sitting beside him. “This is Kathryn. Kathryn with a K,” he added.

Austin extended her hand, offering a warm handshake. “Nice to meet you, Kathryn.” Brett shook her hand before pulling out a chair for Austin.

“I hear you’re moving to the Big Apple,” Dale exclaimed, looking up at Austin.

She glanced at Brett before answering. “Good news travels fast.”

“Where are you from?” Kathryn asked.

“Toronto,” Austin replied, “but I’m planning to move to New York in the next few weeks.”

“Well, we’ll all be glad to have you move in. This is the happiest I’ve seen Brett in months.” Dale hesitated a moment before continuing. “Maybe even years. The entire thirty-second floor cheered when he told us you were moving in.”

“I didn’t tell them,” Brett scoffed. “You did.”

“It was newsworthy,” Dale justified. “We all know that you’re a much nicer guy to work with when you’re getting laid on a regular basis.”

“I really needed to know that,” Kathryn quipped as she scanned the menu.

Austin glanced at the drink menu. “Cocktails are sixteen dollars?” she asked, incredulously.

“Welcome to New York,” Brett and Dale responded simultaneously.

“I find it best to just ignore the prices, and order what I want,” Kathryn advised. “It’s less stressful that way.”

“I’m going to assume you want something with vodka?” Brett asked Austin. She nodded. “You’ll likely enjoy The Antique. It has muddled cucumber, lime, club soda, and vodka.”

“Perfect.” She turned her attention to the dinner menu. “How did you two meet?” Austin inquired, looking up at Kathryn.

“My roommate works at Goldman,” she explained. “We met at a party a few weeks ago.”

“And where do you work?” Austin asked.

“I work in the mayor’s office. City hall.” Austin was noticeably impressed. She could tell that even though she seemed a little uptight, Kathryn was quick witted and well spoken. She could tell that Dale had met his match.

They ordered a variety of appetizers and three different sliders off the menu.

“How long have you been dating?” Kathryn asked as drinks were delivered.

“About a month,” Austin replied, sipping her cocktail.

“And you’re moving in already?” Kathryn asked incredulously.

“We’ll, when you put it that way.” Austin laughed. “It does sound a little slutty.”

“We’ve fast-tracked our relationship,” Brett justified. “We’ve probably crammed six to eight months of dating into the past few weeks.”

Kathryn looked skeptical. “Do you really think that you know him well enough to live together?”

  “You tell me,” Austin challenged.

Dale sat back, afraid of the fireworks that might ensue. Kathryn began firing questions. “You’re ready?” she challenged.

“I am,” Austin responded, taking a drink of her cocktail. “Wait. I work best when there’s an incentive. What do I get for each correct answer?” Brett raised an eyebrow at her. “Okay,” she continued, interpreting Brett’s expression to mean that he would reward her in bed. “I’m ready.”

“Where did he go to school?”

“Stanford,” she fired back. “And Stanford for his MBA,” she added, holding up two fingers. She looked at Brett. “Are you keeping track, or am I?”

  “Where did he grow up?”

  “Old Greenwich, Connecticut.”

  “Favorite sport?”

“Baseball,” Austin scoffed. “No question.” Kathryn was just about to ask her next question. “The Yankees.” Austin added, cutting her off at the pass.

  “What is his favorite color?”

Austin pulled at the neckline of her dress and peeked down at her chest. “I’m not sure what color this is, but I’ll go with flesh color.”

Brett was fighting hard to hold back a laugh.

  “Favorite movie?”

Austin paused. “I’m not sure, but I’m guessing it’s something clever, and dark.” She looked at Brett and studied him. “Would it be The Usual Suspects?” she asked. “Wait, maybe Reservoir Dogs. A Bond film is likely in the top five. I’m not sure which one. Let’s see, what else would I put on that list?” She paused, thinking about Brett’s personality. “How about something extravagant, like Ocean’s Eleven? I’d likely add a generational flick like Dazed and Confused. How am I doing?”

  Brett’s eyes were wide.

“Fuck,” Dale interjected. “She nailed it.”

“The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist,” Brett added, quoting a line from his favorite movie.

“What else have you got?” Austin asked, turning a daring look back on Kathryn.

“Wait,” Brett interrupted. “I should have qualified this. How many questions do you have?”

Kathryn continued, unfettered. “Does he have any tattoos?”

“No. And he won’t be getting one. That would be like putting a bumper sticker on a Maserati.” Her response drew an outburst of laughter from both Dale and Brett.

“Is he a Republican or a Democrat?” Kathryn placed her hands on the table and fired back, in spite of the laughter.

“I’m not sure that he’s registered with either, but his views align more with Democrats than Republicans.”

  “What are you?” Brett asked.

“In Canada, we have three main parties. Conservative, Liberal, and New Democrat. I’m a Liberal.”

Kathryn’s annoyance with Brett’s interruption was visible. “What’s his favorite sex position?”

Austin rolled her eyes. “I’ll keep that answer to myself.” She smiled coyly. “You’ll just have to assume that I know the answer to that one.”

Brett leaned into the conversation. “Trust me. She knows.”

  “Favorite body part?”

“His or mine?” Austin answered sarcastically. “You know what, scratch that. It’s the same general answer,” Austin added, simultaneously pointing to their crotches.

It was Kathryn’s turn to roll her eyes before delivering her next question. “What’s his middle name?”

Austin looked at Brett. A look of alarm crossed his face. “Actually,” she responded, placing her hand on Brett’s arm. “Brett is his middle name. His first name is Joseph.”

“How did you know that?” Brett asked as he leaned over to whisper in her ear.

“I looked at your driver’s license. I also discovered that you’re born on May 10, which makes you a Taurus.” She turned back to Kathryn. “Which makes us very compatible.”

“When is your birthday?” he asked. “I haven’t taken the time to go through your wallet,” he joked.

  “Next month. October 28.”

He laughed and shook his head. “I should have known.”

  “Should have known what?”

“You’re a Scorpio. It completely fits.”

“What does that mean?” Kathryn asked, confused by the detour her inquisition had taken.

“Scorpios are sexually intense lovers. All or nothing. They’re also determined, fearless, poised, ambitious, and very intuitive.” He kissed her cheek. “I should have known.”

p; Kathryn took a deep breath and pulled the conversation back to focus on her. “What’s his nickname?”

“Well, my friends call him Captain America,” Austin responded, lightly laughing, “but I doubt that’s what your friends and colleagues call you.” Austin was stumped, but she wasn’t going to give up. She took a guess. “B.T.”

“Okay, now you’re frightening me,” Brett interrupted. “I know I didn’t tell you that.”

“I like it. It suits you,” she responded, leaning in for a kiss.

  “What is his greatest accomplishment?”

Austin looked at Kathryn skeptically. “He’s a Senior VP at Goldman Sachs. That’s a fairly elite group, no?” Austin could tell that it wasn’t the answer she sought. “I suppose last year’s six-billion merger was a major accomplishment?” She looked at Brett for confirmation.

“It was,” he confirmed. “I won’t likely ever get to handle a deal that big in my career again.”

“How am I doing?” she asked, pointing to the tally Brett was keeping on his fingers.

“I may have to cancel the baseball game tomorrow afternoon,” he grumbled. “We may be in bed all weekend.”

“Ya. That would be horrible,” Dale added sarcastically.

“And his greatest fear?” Kathryn continued.

Austin was just about to take a drink, but set down her cocktail glass and sighed heavily. She gave Kathryn a steely look before shifting her gaze toward Brett. “I’d have to say that his greatest fear is that he’ll turn into his father.” She took his hand. “But I know that fear is unfounded. He’s a much better person than his father will ever be.”

“Well,” Dale interjected, knowing Austin had nailed the answer. “This has been fun. I think we can drop the inquisition, for now.”

Austin turned back to Kathryn. “Even if I hadn’t known the answer to all of those questions, Kathryn, it wouldn’t matter. I don’t need to know every detail about Brett’s life. I know the person, and that’s what is important.”

Brett pulled her in for a long passionate kiss before he whispered in her ear, “I love you, kitten. You nailed it.”

Their food was delivered, and the conversation grew more casual as they ate and drank. It wasn’t long before the sports bar grew loud and crowded as New Yorkers pressed in to watch baseball, hockey, basketball, and a variety of other sports on the many big-screen televisions. When dinner was over, they ordered two more rounds of cocktails before calling it a night.

When they were in the quiet of his apartment, he took Austin in his arms. “I need to get you naked. I have a promise to keep.”

“You have a few,” she responded through a warm kiss. “Is Gregory still overseas?”

“He is,” he assured her as he unzipped her dress. “I want you in my bed.”

He kicked off his shoes as she stepped out of her dress, tossing it onto a chair and walking toward the bedroom. He caught up to her by the time she reached the doorway to the bedroom. He watched her shed her bra and panties as he tossed his suit jacket on the chair.

“This really isn’t fair,” Brett protested, as she stood leaning against the bed waiting for him. “You have a zipper and a clasp. I have seven buttons, cuffs, more buttons,” he added, pointing to his trousers. He loosened his tie and was undoing his shirt as quickly as he could. He ripped off his top, but in his haste missed the buttons on one cuff. He was struggling to pull the garment off his wrist. “Fuck.” He was shaking and pulling at the sleeve, which wasn’t budging. Giving up, he looked up at her. “Will you help me?”

His shoulders slumped in defeat as she strolled over and reached up the sleeve of his shirt, kissing him as she deftly pressed the button through its hole. His free hand was already on her breast. “I’m pretty sure that the notion of my helping you implies that you’re actively participating in the solution.”

“I’m looking at the bigger picture.”

“Hmmm.” His shirt fell to the floor, closely followed by his pants and boxers. “Those are all yours,” she whispered, pointing to his socked feet. He nimbly pulled off one sock and then the other.

Still kissing, he guided her onto the bed. He helped her onto the raised mattress, and rolled onto his back. “Ever since Kathryn asked about my favorite position, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.” He helped her straddle his chest. “Come here,” he added, nudging her body closer to his face. He kissed her hips, slowly making his way toward her pussy. He tapped her hips. “Let me in.” He desperately wanted her to tilt her hips, giving him complete access to her pussy. He kissed her lips, first one side, and then the other. He paused as his eyes focused on his work.

“What do you see?” she asked curiously.

“You. Swelling.” He looked up at her eyes. “It’s incredible to watch,” he added, running his tongue across her engorged flesh.

  “Don’t stop,” she pleaded.

He repeated the motion. “Fuck, I love making you wet,” he exclaimed, before slipping his tongue into her slit. “Do you always wax completely?” he asked between the soft, delicate kisses he planted on her swollen lips.

“Yes,” she whispered, looking down at him.

  “Why?”

He had distracted her with the question. “Because it’s neat and tidy, and pretty much essential for most of my bikinis.”

He thought back to the micro bikini she had worn in San Diego when they had met. “Okay, but summer is over. No more bikinis,” he added as his tongue flicked across her clit.

  “Are you requesting a change?”

He nodded, pulling her clit into his mouth and brushing his tongue across it.

“Fuck, that feels good!” she exclaimed as her hips quivered in delight. “What’s your preference?”

“Leave me a tiny landing strip, right here,” he requested, running his middle finger down the center of her pubic bone.

She moaned as he swirled his tongue against her again. “Hey, it’s your playground.”

Content with her response, he continued. He kissed and licked, before pausing. “Wait. Would you prefer that I wax?”

She forced her eyes open, trying to focus on the question. “No,” she sighed. “You keep your junk neatly trimmed. There’s no need to wax.” He went back to kissing her. “Unless you want me to rim you,” she added. “Then, I’ll have to insist that you wax your ass.”

He pushed her back onto his stomach and stared at her. “What did you say?”

“Seriously, Brett,” she complained. “I was this close.” She held her fingers a half inch apart.

“I’ll make up for it,” he apologized. “But, what did you just say?”

He could tell that she was trying to remember what they had been talking about when he had interrupted. “Unless you want me to rim you, then I’d prefer if you waxed.”

“Holy fuck.” He rubbed his hand over his face. “Would you…you’d do that?”

She nodded slowly. “If you want me to.”

“Do you…do you want me to…” He hesitated, looking for the right word. “Reciprocate?”

“Only if you want to,” she whispered, leaning forward to kiss him.

His eyes were wide. “Holy fuck, kitten.” He pulled her hips back up so that her pussy was in his face. “You are the sexiest little piece of ass!” He refocused his efforts with his mouth concentrating on her clit, kissing her hungrily. The soft and delicate kisses were gone and were replaced by his ravenous need to please her.

“Oh my God,” she moaned, running her fingers through his short hair. “You’ve never fucked me like this before.”

He glanced up at her before pulling her pussy into his mouth, urgently sucking hard on her clit. She threw back her head, letting a long, throaty moan escape her lips. Fueled by her response, he enthusiastically mouthed her pussy, pulling as much of her in as he could. His tongue flicked repeatedly against her clit. Her moaning and panting increased, intertwined with expletives and an ongoing demand for him to make her come. As her hips be
gan to quiver, he smacked his tongue against her clit, unleashing fiery bolts of intense pleasure that ripped through her body.

“Oh. My. God,” she shouted. “I’m co-o-oming.” He felt her body tremble as the tremor tore through it.

“I want to feel that against my cock,” he begged as he pressed her back and onto his long, hard shaft. He sank deep into her, his hands holding her hips, his thumb brushing against her pussy to extend her orgasm. “Damn, that feels incredible,” he cried out, feeling her pulsating vagina against his cock.

“Don’t stop,” she pleaded, looking down at his thumb.

  “I’ve barely started, kitten.”

“I want you to fuck me.”

“I’m not even close to being ready to fuck you.”

As her spasms subsided, he pulled her off his cock and back to his mouth, initiating another round of delicious attention on her pussy. He made her come, over and over again making her moan and cry out in delight. With each climax, he greedily pressed her onto his cock, relishing the throbbing effects of his efforts. He was about to pull her forward for another round, when they heard his upstairs neighbor pounding on the floor between their apartments, cursing and swearing at them.

“Please, Brett.” She smiled wearily. “I really want you to fuck me now.”

“I’d be happy to, but could you keep the volume down,” he teased. “I don’t need my neighbor filing a complaint with the management.”

“If I’m moving in,” she responded, glancing up at the ceiling, “he’d better get used to it.”

A wide grin crossed his face. In one fluid movement, he rolled her onto the sheets, his body on top of hers. He pressed his cock against her wet pussy, slipping easily inside her. “Am I fucking you, or making love to you?” he queried, kissing her neck.

She brushed her finger through the hair at his temple. “Whatever makes you come like crazy,” she whispered.

“Oh, kitten,” he murmured in her ear as he thrust his cock into her, “I’m going to unload a wad of cum inside you like I’ve never done before.”

“Fuck, I love you,” she moaned as her hands travelled down his back, coming to rest on his hips.
