“Do you need anything else from us, Detective?” I ask.
“You'll need to come down to the station to make statement at some point. Someone will call you,” he responds before climbing into his car and driving off.
“That was a sad sight,” Verne's voice says through my necklace. I turn my head and to my surprise she is standing next to me on the sidewalk.
“Verne, you're outside!” I say.
“That's the bad news. Beth destroyed my warding on the Beacon. You ladies will have to protect it now.”
“We'll be fine with your help, Verne,” I reply, pulling Joy in for a hug. The rumble of a truck approaching makes me whip my head around. Brent waves as he parks along the curb.
“Nice to meet you,” Verne says. Brent looks at my amulet bewildered.
“It's Verne. You can't see her but you're standing about 2 inches away from her,” I say while approaching Brent for a quick kiss.
“My friend over at the station texted me and said something was going on here. I came right over. Is everything okay?” Brent asks.
“It's a long story that involves wraiths, evil sisters, and a theater built in a dimensional fold,” I explain as we walk inside.
